The Flying Shuttle in St Edmundsbury

Sunday lunch was beautiful. Booked for 2 at 12.30pm. It got busy quite quickly but well worth the wait. Roast turkey was moist and not dry at all. Stuffing was tasty. We both thoroughly enjoyed it.

OK food, service can be slow update: spent over £150 on a meal for four money for charity quiz yet still can't order a drink after 10pm

Food was good, though service was slow and assume they were having a busy lunch though didn't seem to be very busy at the time.

It was nice to have a meal in a very relaxed, clean and airy restaurant. All the staff were friendly nothing was too much trouble. The food arrived timely and was well presented and hot. Only slight disappointment was no Panna cotta 😕

All round excellent service and food, Sarah (front of house) did extremely well handling some difficult situations (Parents not parenting!) very polite and efficient as are all the Staff. Carol in the Kitchen excellent food and all good value in a nice atmosphere.

First time to come and dine and our experience is absolutely amazing. Great food, ambience and the lady who serve us was very friendly. Highly recommend and definitely coming back worth the travel as we are not from the area.

Very good and quick service by our waitress, also friendly aswell. Explained to us what food was unavailable .

Lots of things missing from menu including scampi, gammon and so much more !! No coffee as machine was out of order. Glasses had lipstick stains, cutlery was stained, table was sticky and ringed. Chair were very badly marked and stained. Menus had old food stains and finger marks. Will not be returning !

Perfect little date venue, came during the week took part in the monthly quiz an to spend quality time with my partner. Food highly recommend and a good range of drinks.

I have visited a few times for a cheap and cheerful place to eat as a family, however on this occasion my son found a hair in his food. When I complained they replaced his meal but he was obviously a little put off. There was no apology or offer to take the meal off the bill, which would have been nice as everyone had finished eating by the time his meal came. My other two children were getting ratty by this point as we had already waited 50 minutes for the food. Waitress and man who was in charge didn't crack a smile between them. Only saving grace was the barman. Definitely won't return in a hurry.

I visited your establishment on the 25th of September at approximately 3 pm. This is my fourth visit in as many weeks and was a disappointing experience. My companion and I ordered some drinks at the bar, indicated to the barman that we would like to sit at table 19 and asked for some menus so we could order food. Menus were provided which were literally falling apart and having made our selection we waited patiently for someone to come and take our food order. After waiting what seemed like a lifetime, but was probably only 15 minutes, I approached the bar and asked if someone could come and take our food order. I was told that table 19 was considered to be the “bar area” and as such food orders must be placed at the bar by the diner. There was absolutely no indication that certain tables do not benefit from waitress service. My suggestion would be that this information is displayed prominently either on the relevant tables or in the area where this condition applies. The pastry on the steak and ale pie that I ordered was absolutely rock hard and when I attempted to cut into it, it fractured into large pieces which skated across the plate. The long handle spoon presented to me to eat my chocolate Sundae was filthy. A replacement was provided which was only a slight improvement on its predecessor. The gents toilet comprises two cubicles and the lock on the one furthest from the door is broken and has been since my first visit. As mentioned above, this is my fourth visit and I am pleased to report that on my three previous visits the food and the service had been good. In fact, on my very first visit the food and service were so good that they precipitated my subsequent visits. Based on my experience described above I am not planning a fifth visit.

Good food and service, spoilt by 3 toddlers running around the bar area all evening screaming their heads off. No attempt to to stop them, by the staff, and egged on by parents. 8.30pm so you would have hoped they would have been tucked up in bed. This is why I hate 'family dining....' Love me, love my kids ......Sod everyone else.....And they moan about dogs.....

We arrived at 1515 for a roast dinner. When the waitress came to take our order we were told they had run out of Roast dinners despite your website saying it is all day on a Sunday. We then tried to order from the normal menu and we met with a list of things they didn’t have. The poor waitress had to keep returning to the table to tell us that the items we had ordered had “run out”. The list is below; Mixed grill Ribeye steak Mashed potato Macaroni cheese Sea bass Scampi Roast dinners It smacks of very poor stock management by the kitchen staff and pub manager. It should not be for the wait staff to inform the customers that the pub has run out of so much food.

A family lunch out at the Flying Shuttle. Gutted they’ve not got rotisserie chicken, but we found other great options. The fish (as part of the fish and chips - £15.50) was beautiful, large, delicious; but the chips were slightly overdone. Still enjoyable however. We indulged in an 8oz steak with fries and was a bit sad, the fries were all very overdone, most were inedible and left and the steak was average, very fatty - this was nearly £20 alone. Upsetting. Our daughter enjoyed a macaroni and cheese with garlic bread which she enjoyed thoroughly. The pub was very almost empty and the staff were lovely - shout out to bossman for the 30%. I did have a moment with our waitress where I tried calling her over for the dessert menu, had to shout three times to get her attention away from her phone. Again, the pub was almost empty and I don’t expect people to sit and do nothing, but just be a touch more attentive. Big love to all the staff though.

Great visit, as usual. We pre-booked and so no issues with finding a table. Server was lovely and gave us time to chose our food and got drinks started while we looked. Food was lovely as usual and we had dessert. One only wanted ice cream and so gave the option of a kids sundae instead of having a large adults pudding, which was great appreciated. Overall, will defiantly keep going back. This was our 4th visit.

We had a warm welcome as soon as we walked in. The manager was very informative and polite. We sat outside, which again the manager gave us the instructions on how everything works. Drinks & food came pretty quickly, food was nice. Kids loved the food, and enjoyed the outside play area. The lady who brought everything out was extremely polite and tried to have a laugh with the kids :) (Sorry I didn’t catch your name) Overall its was great, thank you again to everyone

Food was good but portion sizes were a bit small, and the chicken tenders weren’t as crisp as I’d expect. Halloumi fries were spot on, pints were spot on, service was spot on.

A nice, quiet and clean pub on the outskirts of the town.

We've been here twice before without issue, once eating in the restaurant area and once ordering from the bar. However, this time we had absolutely atrocious customer service. We were told that there weren't tables in the restaurant, and that we could order from the bar. A member of staff cleared a table for us and we ordered drinks. After having a look through the menu we went up to the bar to order and were then told that now we couldn't order food. I can only assume that there is terrible communication between the staff and a general lack of basic service skills, but this doesn't excuse the attitude of the young lad we spoke with. Pretty poor, especially as my partner is 8 months pregnant. Sort it out. Edit: On a Wednesday? Evidently you lack the ability to take responsibility for the disorganisation, or to properly apologise. As said previously, you have different staff members saying different things. Any decent person would say sorry for the misunderstanding that they caused. Looks like that isn't the case here.

Didn't get half of what was ordered, had to go and chase up only to find they hadn't put it through to the kitchen, quite small portions and not value for money.

The food was excellent but the serving females were sullen and reluctant, this made the experience far less pleasant. We came for my daughter’s birthday, great pity.

Good pub in town away from the town centre, for a chain pub the beers are good and tv to watch football. Not like a traditional place with atmosphere so great for cosy meetings and family get togethers. See you next time, Atilla x

4 of us went for food before the quiz. The food was lovely but slightly over priced we felt. Service was good although a little slower when waiting for dessert. Overall a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The quiz was really good too!!

We enjoyed a very delicious meal at this establishment. Our server was Lisa who went out of her way to look after us. She was not only attentive but very efficient too. We will surely be coming back again and again.

Took our family out for a meal at The Shuttle. Our son over from Australia was very impressed with the Sea Bass he ordered. Said it was the best Sea Bass he had tasted. Great evening, great food and great atmosphere. We will surely be back very soon.

Had a lovely meal here a few weeks ago and was served by Carol who was very helpful and friendly and dealt with my two kid's allergies very well - felt confident what they were eating was safe.

It was my first visit, and it was a pleasant experience. We were a party of four adults and one child, and we were greeted and seated promptly. Our drink orders were taken and served quickly. The food was delicious. We will definitely return. Thank you.

We booked for lunch to catch up but was a little disappointed with the steak,I had gammon and pineapple last time I had it I got a egg aswell but maybe different staff on

Excellent food...starter, main and dessert options were fantastic. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Service was fantastic (staff attentive and always there when i needed a topup, without feeling rushed or hounded at all). And i love the feel of the place. I enjoy a warm, welcoming and cosy place to enjoy a good hearty meal with my partner as an evening treat. Would highly recommend a visit to support this great local place. They also normally have at least one ale on tap (i recommend the Wainwright), with a good selection of other drink choices.

Always attentive staff, food is always excellent, decor is modern but cosy, very clean and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. 100% recommended.

We had a nice meal here, we originally phoned to see what time they finished serving Sunday roast and were told that they had sold out of Turkey and they didn't know how much beef or pork was left. Anyway we went as we needed to eat lol !! I actually ordered steak and ale pie only to be told it was sold out, so I had the cheese leek and potatoe pie with mash and veg. It was very nice and a good portion, however my partner ordered tge belly pork which came with potatoes and veg. Tge veg was a couple if pieces of long stem brocoli and that was it. She asked the waitress if she could have some more vegetables maybe a portion of seasonal veg, she got given one more piece of brocoli, this was disappointing at least. The food was nice and we both enjoyed it, the waitress was lovely and attentive.

Staff came cross helpful and friendly. Took our drink order first. Then gave us time to look at the menu. They were accommodating to change parts of the menu to suit our needs. Food came quick and was value for money.

Busy but not too busy for customers. Staff really attentative, Great range of non alcoholic drinks - not just coke etc, great range of food to choose from, food was delivered in a timely manner, hot and tasty, dessert was soooooo good, nice atmosphere, will visit again.

We sat outside. There were scores of green flies stuck to the table when we arrived so no pre-opening checks of the outside. When our food turned up we were told to go get our cutlery from the end of the bar?! My kebab I ordered half of it was burned to a cinder and the last straw was that no one even asked if our meal was ok so couldn't even say how our experience was... Poor experience overall.

Eaten here twice now with the family for lunch, food is nice, staff are lovely but the downside is having allgeries/intolerances to be told to use the website which doesn't state the ones outside the main ones, I unfortunately ended up having to get side orders as everything comes and is prepared together, my allgeries are not common I understand but unfortunately the type it is in can be in everything (paprika for example on chips for a coating to make them look more golden) The place is generally quiet and other customers have been mindful, it has a nice warm setting, I would likely visit again if there was more food options available to me

Went out for lunch with some friends on Friday the 10th may . Ordered 5 BLT sandwiches 3 with just chips and 2 with a side salad . Well what can I say about the side salad 1 bit of lettuce and a few sprigs of rocket in a small bowl and charged £2.99 each for it . Forgot to take pic of it absolutely disgusting that you can charge people that money for what you get . If you have the sandwiches don’t order the salad as it’s a bloody rip off . Flying shuttle you need to seriously review your price on that side salad You should be ashamed of yourself for charging that price . So only 2 stars given on food

Frozen tart served. Disinterested waitress. Have contacted head office who have replied a couple of times, but obviously got bored and gave up. Will not be darkening their doorstep again. Bad pub, bad business.

We took our dear friends for a meal at this establishment. Our food was delicious and we were served by a very friendly young lady called Lissa.

Will not be going back to this place. Stake ale pie was burnt. Pastry was too hard to eat. Honey glazed carrots were burnt. INSTANT mash had a crust on and was cold. Peas were hard and cold, so was the few runner beans. Strongly do NOT recommend the Flying Shuttle.

We had a group of 11. Service was fantastic, friendly and efficient. Food was amazing. 2 of us had the kebabs which were lovely Deserts also great. Cannot recommend enough +++++

Everyone is very friendly, when it’s busy sometimes service is slightly slow expectedly. I normally only go for drinks and I haven’t had food there for a very long time so can’t really comment on that but it’s a beau

Two of our main meals did not arrive until after the other four people had finished eating and only after I went to the bar to find out where they were! They were dried up and barely warm when they did arrive. Not an enjoyable experience!
