1st time here, food was lovely, service was great especially from Zac ,atmosphere in this pub was great, and made a very enjoyable evening

I haven't been here for quite some time but decided to pop in for our weekly ladies lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food along with the price. The service was really friendly and welcoming and the lady who served us was bubbly and very chatty. We will definitely visit again soon.

The food at this pub is realy good value for money,well cooked & friendly service. Where else could you get 2 gammon steaks with all the trimmings for under £12 ?

My son tried to book elsewhere but couldn't get in. We needed a table for 4 children and 5 adults. This is one occasion when, as it tuned out I am delighted that we failed to get in elsewhere. The food was amazing. Children and adults alike thoroughly enjoyed their food. Service was good and staff were friendly. I would certainly recommend The Flyer. I have to say that it well exceeded my expectations for a pub.

Don't be deceived as I was when I went to the Flyer today having continually told my wife I was going to the cheap and cheerful (mean inexpensive but low quality food because of the cost) with my mate. This couldn't be further than the truth, yes it is great value but the food is truly exceptional. I had burger and chips proper meat and not just low quality fatty beef. Jamie and Adam are very welcoming and make you feel at home which you need to be as the portion size though not overbearing means you need to take time to relax and enjoy it. We will definitely be back this time with my wife rather than my best mate, the only question is when .......!!

Love fathers day family meal. Very busy, food came out quicker than expected for how busy it was. Staff are really friendly, so glad we chose here for our Father's day meal as we had a lovely time, we've been before and will defo come again.

I don’t usually leave reviews. It is what it is but I was out with my son who had been in hospital for mental illness for several months and not been socialising for over a year. We went for a lunchtime meal and a pint. I need to get him out and about socialising and mixing with people. Food was perfect for what we ordered. The bar person Trish was so perfect on the day. Maybe she could sense something? I don’t know but she was so attentive to us that I felt we were the only customers. Although there were many others, Trish is a great bar person and an amazing person. A great credit to The Flyer and Green King are lucky to have her. Will definitely be back.

The welcome was great we have never been here before we came for a meal and to watch football the staff were excellent as was the food and dessert it was a 30 min drive and was worth it

I came to the Flyer on the 29th of March, had steak and chips. The steak was fantastic and the service was wonderful, I will be back many times in the future.

Friendly welcoming environment, helpful staff ,great food and cheap well worth the money, I had steak and ale pie it was large full of meat and lovely gravy creamy mashed potato and a good portion of peas, I had cheesecake for desert and it was divine, throughout the meal the staff ask us if everything was OK, and was there anything we wanted, after the meal they cleared our table, and when it was time to leave they said goodbye I hope you enjoyed your meal, we said, yes it was excellent the food and the service, from now on we will go there all the time you can't beat it, a great experience

Had a lovely lunch with my young son and girlfriend, staff were very attentive and fabulous with my son. Little man loved the claw machine and his chicken nuggets.

Took the family down for a meal and we are big eaters ordered 2 steak fondue 2 kids steaks all ordered differently and a burger everything was cooked perfectly and got a service with a smile

The karaoke night was truly exceptional, the staff worked hard to keep a very busy pub lubricated and so much fun was had by all. Can’t wait until the next one.

We were served by a lovely lady named Trish who despite being rushed off her feet gave fantastic service. She took her time making sure our food and drinks order was correct by reading everything back to us and apologised for the wait (she was the only one serving at the time) anyone else could be flustered and panicked by the queue of people, but she was absolutely brilliant. The food came out in good time and was nice and hot and well cooked. Fantastic value for money. Will be coming back again!

My partner and I took our offspring for 'breakfast with Santa' yesterday (17th), we was greeted well and the kids had plenty to do on the table too. Santa was great with the kids, very interactive. The Grinch was also an amusing touch. The food...

This is such a nice little pub, situated opposite the school it's perfect for taking the kids for their dinner. Really big menu and drinks to choose from. Tidy and clean and the staff are always nice. We really enjoy coming in.

Had a really good meal here on Saturday, food was hot & fresh & very tasty, staff were all lovely & helpful, all knew exactly what they were doing regards to covid regulations, tables clean, everything fresh out the packaging no double usage of sauces etc, menus dispossessed of straight away...a safe sanitised pub/restaurant to eat & drink, would recommend!!

Came for dinner with a friend a few nights ago and really enjoyed it. Our food was really good and came quickly and the service is brilliant. All the staff are so welcoming but Kai in particular was absolutely fantastic - polite, friendly and so welcoming. He is a credit to the pub and made our experience very enjoyable. Would definitely recommend to other people!

The new team an management may have been long over due but it's definitely been worth the wait! Food was brilliant, all the staff were really happy an helpful, our waiter Kai was super polite too. Will definitely be back 🙂

Had rare 12oz sirloin steak this evening. Perfectly cooked by chef David. Served by Kye who was also great.

Been trying to contact the flyer, to book a table since the 12th of february, went into the pub to speak to the manager about making a booking, the manager's response was a joke about leaving the phone in the officeA shame that this establishment is not what i remember, as im regular and come at least once a month for food with my nephew, really hope this situation improves.Kind regards Luke

We went for a family meal between Christmas and New Year, the service was really bad and the food at times inedible. I asked for a gluten free meal and my meal turned up with gluten containing items on the plate. Other meals didn’t arrive or weren’t as ordered. Definitely wouldn't return. Goes down as one of my worst eating experiences. I gave it a 1 as I was able give it any less!

Went there for a family meal on 28th dec,service was very poor and the food was terrible, my steak was meant to be medium to well done,half was cooked ok and the other half had blood running out. My meal came out very late, the others were half way through there meal as I got mine. The vegetables were hard and my mother- in-laws veg was hard and her broccoli was like rubber. Needless to say I will not be eating there again and shall not be recommending it to anyone else.

I came here with my friend about 4 pm. I had a hunters chicken with chips but I requested to have waffle fries instead. My friend had a surf 'n' turf medium rare steak. the chef cooked it just right. I got served by George on the bar. We had two Stella's. We got served really quickly. It's such a down to earth place and brilliant workers. I'm definitely coming here again.

Used this pub 100s of times the food is great value and the staff very helpful... just don’t know why some reviews on here knock the place.... if you want al la carte service go somewhere else and pay treble the price for the same menu ..

Enjoyed are evening the food took a while to come out but it was very nice would recommend it to family and friends

One of the worst pubs for lunch ever going. Situation next to a supermarket and no other competition and in theory should be the same as other green king pubs that I have visited but no pub dead at 11:35 and no other competition around it would be trying to bring in customers but no and being told we can’t even take food orders for food until midday when they are allowed to start putting it through the tills as they are timed even 2 minutes before so had to buy drinks first and then go back to till after dropping off drinks you can work off the food here before getting your meals. Which is stupid even child food and snacks so brought crisps not idea. No offence maybe this is why the pub is empty and with the current climate in pub trade where pubs are closing at such a huge rate they should be more flexible. Staff member seems to be good at his job however it was kind of him saying I will put your meals through first but that is not the point.

The food may be basic but it is well cooked and presented and very good value. The drinks are also very reasonable. Think they could do with more than one bar staff though.

Randomly popped in after shopping next door in Morrisons. We had a really nice lunch, Steak pie,chips and peas and Scampi, chips and peas both very good. Staff friendly and attentive, will use again

Amazing pub no complaints with anything amazing food, All staff are brilliant especially Pam who always goes that’s extra mile to make her customers feel welcome and always got a smile on her face. !!! DEFINITELY VISIT !!!

0 stars weren't an option. Garden littered with fag butts, broken glass and clearly has never been cleaned. Men urinating as they didn't have the required waders to use the toilets. Which were over flowing in filthy water and urine (but still signed as adequate by staff). Kitchen hardly ever open, when it is if 3 people order food they can't cope so close it. If your lucky enough to get food it really is not worth the wait. If you want to order food or a drink make sure your wearing comfortable shoes as you will be stood waiting for 20 minutes of other people have been as crazy as you to go to this pub. There is 3 nice people who work here but it doesn't compensate for the disgraceful non existent manager, poor planning, inadequate staffing and unsanitary facilities and unclean environment. A total disgrace to green king.

I waited 50 minuets for our food and both dishes were wrong, we didn’t have time to wait to have it changed, there didn’t offer any discount either, I messaged them privately and got ignored, not happy

The plsce must have had a revamp as we found the place really clean and tidy. The manager was a pleasure to chat with, our order was dealt with very quickly.The chef brought our two courses out from the kitchen in her smart clean clothes and asked if we needed anything else.The drinks were lovely.During our meal, the manager asked if the food was good, we replied yes.For a very large, good quality 2course meal with drinks, where else can you get it for less than £35?We couldn't fault this Hungry Horse pub and we will return soon.Thank you.

We got let down at the last minute by another venue and had to find Christmas dinner for 30 at very short notice. The flyer were fantastic! Every single person complemented the food. It was cooked perfectly. The service was polite friendly and extremely helpful. They could not do enough for us. They were particularly accommodating to our members in a wheelchair and provided special dishes for those with food allergies at very short notice. All this for a fantastic price too! We will definitely be back next year and many of the members will be back throughout the year. Well done!!

Hungry horse i have been to. I dont expect much from this franchise but the flyer really set the bar low. Cold food , random delivery and best of all they ommitted to order my meal! People were walking out all over the place and the list of things not available was huge!! It included lemon for drinks ffs!! I first went to this pub 3years ago , it was reasonable , right now it has nothing to recommend it. My advice, save your money and go else where . This hungry horse desreves to die!

Was over chelmsford to see my daughter, and decided to call in, before we returned, the pub clean and tidy, I think they'very just had a refurbishment, pity about some of the staff who need cheering up, very miserable lot, however, ordered steak and ale pie, not a good idea, it was lukewarm and very grissley, and a handfull of chips which were not hot, I had lasagna whivh was greasy, oil hanging around on plate, salad limp, needed reviving, in all not great, if you are hungry, don't go to the hungry horse, plenty of other places in chelmsford, we won't return

If you like to wait for ages for cold food, and then send it back to be replaced by more cold food, then this is the place for you.

We popped into the recently refurbished flyer hungry horse for something to eat last week. I ordered our food then asked for a pint of coke and a lime and soda. Well when I was asked if I wanted ice I said no thanks as it's chilled enough out the pump plus you always lose out as the ice really cuts down your amount of coke. Well when I was given the pint of coke only 2 thirds full I said is that a pint looking a little strange at the bar man. Yes it's a measure because you didn't have ice so it's going to be short. I scratched my head and complained and said ice is free so please fill my glass up to a pint. No he wasn't going to and said that's the measure we are told to give sorry. Well I won't be visiting the green king chains anymore so that's just cost them at least £600 per year for starters plus I am sending round to all my friends and colleagues pictures of what I have experienced. This has not happened anywhere else in Chelmsford I have been to. One really unhappy customer for a couple of mouthfulls of tap cheap coke.

Called in yesterday about 4.30 ordered drinks and food 2 chicken tiikka and 1 fish and chips waited quite a while then out come one chicken tikka and one fish and chips young lady said I’m afraid we only have one chicken tikka, and stood there so gave the chicken tikka to my son, which I must admit wasn’t enough for a grown man, I asked well do you want me to order something else although I was annoyed I ordered the scampi and chips, So my husband and son tarted eating theirs, she came out ad said they were cooking it now, eventually I was served well there was 10 scampi and 12 chips which were all bits , obviously the others had practically finished not happy at all would have had a desert but decided not to . Surely that should have been noticed when we ordered and paid, get your act together !!

Just about the cheapest place that you can go to eat out. Great selection of typical pub food with different deals every day of the week. Nice enough place albeit a little tired.

I use this venue quite a bit and the food is okay occasionally something comes out wrong or cold. It has lovely outdoor seating area. The only down side to this place is a few of the staff are moody and never smile and act like you are putting them out when they serve you. If they sorted the staff out it would be the perfect venue

I work as a carer and regularly take my service user here. I will name her Louise in this review. Louise has Autism and is very particular about food and eating. The staff here are brilliant and I can’t thank them enough for there help meeting Louise’s needs. Nothing is too much and even at time where I felt i was asking too much, the staff happily supported me, we’re all smiles and were happy to help. Would recommend this place to everyone with a SEN person.

Visited this evening for dinner, we come here atleast once a month for dinner and have never had any problems until now. We arrived and we sat down straight away which was a good start, we then ordered our food. On arrival it seemed there was a shortage of sausages for the mixed grill. We was not told this in advance and then upon arrival it was mentioned and then dismissed. Once we questioned what was going to be a solution to this- the waitress then offered more food to be cooked. We then asked for a discount off of the meal as otherwise our meals would be finished during the extra cooking process. Aswell as this, the trio of chicken was missing its corn on the cob and coleslaw which was then made up 5 minutes after. All our food was burnt and overcooked- burger, chicken etc. We was then told we could not have a discount off our meal and a free dessert was offered which was fine. After our meal we approached the bar to be told our plates will be cleared and we could order. Over 30 minutes later our plates was cleared, which seemed crazy as other tables who arrived and ate later than us got seen to first to clear away. After the dessert came we then paid our tab and left. Overall really disappointed with the food and service. The waitress and bar staff just didn’t seem to want to be there , and had no customer service skills at all, everything felt like a real effort which is a real shame as we regularly pop in for a drink or dinner now and then.

Fantastic pub/restaurant. I have visited many times and Mark and Pam are always welcoming. Beer is excellent value as is the food. Always busy.. speaks for itself

Stop off here with the dog after a long walk round the fields to have a beer and burger outside. It's a good pit stop for him to have a bowl of water and a few cheeky chips. Good value food and beer.

Paid £6.99 for a salad topped with steak. Salad was meant to include shredded vegetables. Didn't find any. Steak was so tough, it wasn't edible. When asked by the waitress if everything was OK, I said my steak was too tough to eat. There was no apology, offer of a replacement meal, or a refund. The manager just kept his head down and ignored us. Just wonder if he would be satisfied to pay for a meal he couldn't eat! Won't be going back.

Great value food menu.Smiling and friendly waitresses who gave very efficient service.In our group there were 4 adults and 4 children.My son booked a table that was ready for us when we arrived.The food arrived very quickly and was nice and hot.On a freezing cold Sunday the pub was warm and very comfortable.We have been to 3 different Hungry Horse pubs.This was definitely the best in every way.

Popped in here after shopping next door in Morrisons. Only one very flustered member of staff on duty, staff sickness was to blame so I ordered drinks and settled down to see if things would change. When I tried to order food, she told me 'no fish', it was still frozen as it only arrived in the morning.We didn't bother to stop as another group arrived with push chairs and the lady in charge wad organising them into the small restaurant.Not a place to visit, probably better in the evenings when the supermarket is closed.

We decided to visit The Flyer as we had visited the hungry horse at another location on numerous occasions and found it to be very reliable. Arrived at 12:15pm. There were 10 of us, 5 adults and 5 children aged between 18 months to 12 years. We all sat on one table but placed 3 separate orders one after the other so we could pay separately. 2 of our party had starters which came out relatively quickly so all started well. It was half-term so the pub was filling up slowly. After 30 minutes, staff had not returned to our table to clear the starters plates away. The younger children were becoming restless as mains were not with us. 40 minutes passed and we questioned what the delay was and were told 'we're very busy'. Granted, yes, but large parties entering and ordering after us had already received their food. 50 minutes had now passed and 4 of our party received their meals. 10 minutes later, another 3 mains were bought to the table. We questioned again where the remaining 3 meals were (2 of which being childrens) and were told other orders had been placed in between ours causing the delay. Finally, after an hour and half after ordering, the 3 remaining mains came out!!! The pizza one of the younger children had was clearly a 3 minute microwavable pizza which was overdone around the edges. A member of our party found a long hair entwined in his chicken burger!! The young waitress took the food away without apologising and asked if we would lke a fresh onw cooked!! Seeing it had taken an hour to get that one no thank you!!! We expressed our frustration at the length it had taken for the food to come out and now the found hair and asked for some money to be refunded back to us. The waitress came back and stated ' the manager says we are unable to refund you anything at this time'.We asked to speak to the manager who from the time we entered had a face like she'd eaten a bunch of sour grapes. We again explained what an appalling service we had experienced and she said ' well its half term and I only have one chef'. That's not the customers problem!! She stated that she could not refund us but could offer free desserts. We said that we would be giving a poor review. Her response?? ' we expect some bad reviews' !!!! Great attitude!!! Free desserts didn't make up for the disappointment and the fact that the food was of such poor quality, most of us were still hungry and one of our party who was going off to work after the meal even popped next door to Morrisons to buy himself a sandwich!!! Some of the party took up the offer of desserts but again disappointed. The millionaire cheesecake looked nice but was luke warm instead of chilled so we decided not to eat it for fear of being unwell!!Extremely disappointed at the lack of customer service and the 'oh well' attitude of staff. Safe to say it ruined a family get together and we certainly won't be returning or recommending!!

Food came out not what i ordered, sent it back, my steak came back with a supposed New York topper which had no bbq sauce a slice of burger cheese on top they dont mind charging you for it, then my supposedly warm fudge cake came back as cold as the chips on my main meal lol, nice young fellas behind the bar very apologetic, not one sorry from the assistant manager who walks round with a face like a bag of spanners, if you are going to give the pub a facelift make sure the food is up to par, never ever will i visit again, I have eaten here quite a few times in the past

Have always enjoyed a visit to The Flyer, either for a quick treat of family celebration. The staff a very welcoming and the new setup works for us with young children as there is no need to pass through the saloon bar for the WC! The food is, as always, good value for money and tasty.

We meet regularly here and enjoy the food and the service. The recent refurb seems to have unsettled the momentum though.Service was slow today but the food was still good value.

I visited this weekend with my daughter. The pu. Has recently undergone a make over and looks fantastic. They have now moved the family seating in the toilet side which is very handy. The food was great and is very good value for money. The staff are friendly will definetley visit again

....as the Manager was back! Pleased to say the experience was much better than the last. It was clean, food hot and the new menu had some lovely additions (The Bacon Popcorn is soooooo good!!!) I see that it will shutting for a refurb in November which is needed, it does look tired but if its clean, offers good service and value it can be overlooked.

Staff were excellent helping with one of the party who was disabled & in a wheelchair.Made sure we were comfortable where we sat.Great choice of new menu.

I have been coming here regularly and enjoy it.This is a hungry horse pub that sells food as well as has a bar where regulars chat away and create a great atmosphere. The people that run the bar are very friendly . There is a pool table and plenty of big screens to watch any sports that you are interested i in.Drinks are very reasonably priced .If you happen to be in this part of Chelmsford I would definitely recommend. They have a seated food area which has a bar and all tables have a mini screen so you can watch whatever is on the main screen. There is also a bar area where locals congregate but within this area there are also tables where people can order and get food served at their table.

This happens to be our local,We do enjoy the food... It's just a shame it may take a few weeks to arrive! And may have half the food missing...Busy Saturday with all tables full and there's only one person taking orders and one serving drinks.

Quick service, nice enough staff with the food being fairly enjoyable but nothing outstanding. It has nice surroundings and can be a good venue for some nice, easy dinner.

La calidad de la comida es mala, la carne es ahora más duro y grasa y cartílago de carne y a los lados de un frío y duro y grasiento. No es limpio (Mesas pegajosa) y la loos. . . . La última vez, estaba claro que en noches anteriores vómitos, no lo habían limpiado correctamente. Nuestra última visita fue unas semanas atrás y había una hora de esperar por la comida y un montón no disponible!Espero con hambre y el manejo de caballos, tome nota de estos comentarios y buscar hacer mejoras, este lugar puede volver a cómo era y espero que no, pero hasta entonces no se podrá visitar o recomendar como solíamos.

Nuestro hijo pidió la hamburguesa más increíble llamado, divertidamente, Waffl - icious! No hace falta decir que él era un desastre pegajoso por el tiempo que le dio en el Burger monstruoso. Su única crítica fue que los gofres, podría haber sido más suave. Mi desayuno durante todo el día era increíble, más de lo que solemos comer en una sentada y no me podía quejar. Todo estaba delicioso. Mi marido disfrutó de una hamburguesa clásica y nuestro hijo menor, eres exigente con la comida, tenía una porción gigante de alas de pollo, que ella esté lleno, sin queja. Teníamos extra lados - col, patatas fritas y aros de cebolla y, para ser sinceros, probablemente se podría pedir menos! En general, una experiencia agradable.10 de 10!

Una buena "barato n alegre "pub con comida que era caliente y sabrosa y fresca. Las raciones eran buenas. La comida en realidad superó nuestras expectativas, especialmente el pastel de carne con cerveza que sabían muy casero y estaba lleno de carne. una pena que mimado un poco por "olvidarse" nuestro pedido de postre y mantenernos esperando 50 minutos.

Restaurante & Pub bien, completo menú, sin patatas asadas en el menú semana asado. Pedimos salchichas y puré de patatas, tres grandes salchichas aburrido, un montón de puré de cebolla chutney dulce pero demasiado para mi gusto. Precio barato, pero un entorno ruidoso con televisores y voces de fondo. El servicio era bueno y el personal cortés, la comida llegó rápidamente y caliente.

Nuestro único local (a poca distancia). . . utilizada para disfrutar de una bebida y una comida en el Flyer hace unos dos años. . . Lo que ha sucedido?. ? ? Metimos en una comida la semana pasada, ya que ambos caballos muy hambriento, sabíamos que íbamos a conseguir grandes comidas allí. El lugar estaba bastante concurrido y esperé unos 10 minutos en el bar para pedir nuestra comida, como sólo había una persona que sirve. Muy abrupto y triste señora. Esperamos casi una hora para la comida, mientras que la observación de una familia exigente su dinero ya que no quería esperar más, y una familia con un niño discapacitado, que servían dos platos de pollo cocinado, y bajo pedido un reembolso. Oímos decir que ellos ni siquiera conseguir una disculpa! Finalmente llegamos, que la comida estaba bien, pero los guisantes y las patatas fritas eran duras. Tuve que unos murciélagos vuela mientras come y me di cuenta de que la gente había terminado y desaparecido, y no una mesa había sido despejada, atrayendo a las moscas a todas las sobras (era un día muy caluroso). Volver nunca sobra decir, y pobre personal (especialmente el chef) y gestión es una política! No iba a poner este comentario aquí, como ya he quejado directamente a caballo de hambre, pero como no dan tanto como un reconocimiento o una disculpa, es venir a este.

Estado aquí unas cuantas veces y aunque es más un abrevadero la comida es buena para comer barato. El personal es atento, educado y muy bueno. Hemos estado en el otro caballo y hambre en chelsmford aunque es más grande y más de un familiar, el servicio es una porquería.

Lo siento por la falta de personal del bar que están tratando de ayudar no sólo al cliente local, sino también el cliente que quiera comer. 1 camarera en y el gerente de estar en la oficina mientras ella está luchando para manejar 2 cajas. Los clientes se están convirtiendo en aburrido de esperar para una bebida.Gestión senior pub necesita a repensar su futuro en el flyer, ya que hay un buen montón de gente que están dejando pasar.

Cuando mis amigos y yo llegamos al pub no estaba demasiado lleno, así que nos fuimos hasta el bar para pedir algo de beber y me dijeron que si no estás pidiendo comida pedidos de comida no hay chef así que más molesta y era un poco embarazoso

Los baños son sucios y malolientes, no había papel higiénico. Mesas, vasos y cubiertos están sucios.Parece que la cadena "elements" (comida y precios) son geniales, pero el resto de personal y estándares (el frente)

He vivido cerca de este lugar por muchos años y he comido aquí en numerosas ocasiones. Durante los últimos dos años la comida y el servicio se ha deteriorado alarmantemente. Siempre me impresionó el bistec, pero hemos dejado de pedir, después de carne dura en tres en tres visitas. Por lo tanto pedimos pescado o gambas como cualquiera que tenga dificultad en jaleo! Mis amigos han hecho lo mismo.Última noche de viernes fui con un viejo amigo. Pedí el scampi para estar seguros. Mi amigo pedimos bistec. El servicio era pésimo y tardaron años para pedir comida y bebida. Cuando llegamos al final de la comida y la comida eran dos placas de frío,carne estaba dura como de costumbre.Cuando esto se menciona al personal que ni siquiera se disculpó.Nunca comer aquí de nuevo a menos que alguien a quién le importa el servicio al cliente.

We had booked a table for 7 at 12.30 on 25th Feb for my husbands birthday, when we went to order at around one we were told the chef wasnt ready and that some one would come and take our order in about 10 mins, no one came so we went up with our order, out of the seven orders they didnt have four of them so we rechose only to be told they didnt have them either, the staff were rude, my husband is diabetic so has to eat regularly so this delay wasnt helping matters. We were so fed up with the way we were treated we looked online for a nearby alternative and fortunately found a much nicer and friendly pub we finally sat down to eat at around 2.30!

My mother-in-law's wake was held here with a buffet. It was to be remembered for the wrong reasons. My wife had to bring her dog because we live quite a way from Chelmsford. It was in a bag as it is a very small dog, an Affenpinscher to be precise (3 kilos of fur). There were no signs on the doors saying "No Dogs". The dog was in the pub for over an hour, when my wife took it out for a break and walked it back in the landlord said that his license was at risk because he served food. This was a private function for my wife's mother's wake and even when others tried to persuade him to allow the little dog to stay, he refused again, leaving my wife to have to sit outside in the cold and therefore unable to mix with friends and relatives at a very sad time for her having just lost her mother.10/10 for jobsworth insensitiveness.

He estado en el flyer antes de una comida familiar, era bastante asqueroso para ser honesto. Cómo cocinar carne no era pedimos y puré era claramente superficial. If I could give this place a 0 I would. Would usually eat here once a fortnight but after today's experience I won't be returning. The place was a mess, food all over the floor, the men's toilets smelt, there was no one in the pub really but the tables were full of plates. Me and my mate arrived at the bar after looking through sticky menus and having to clear our own plates onto another table, and the young boy who seemed to be the only one working was standing behind the bar on his phone, after noticing us he told us he would be five minutes and proceeded to finish on his phone and finish his conversation with a man who was sitting at the bar reading his newspapers, so straight away I wasn't happy as a conversation with someone and being on his phone was more important then serving customers. I wouldn't have minded but the man he was talking to had a full pint. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and we proceeded to order our food, when I asked what I could have instead of chips he replied by saying "anything" which wasn't a help as they didn't have "anything" as i would have preferred new potatoes. Then while pouring our drinks he continued to talk to the man at the otherside of the bar even after our drinks were poured! We waited 20 minutes for our food and when it come out the same person just slammed it on our table and walked away. My mate had to go to the bar and wait another 10 minutes to get some cutlery to which the boy come onto the bar eating and said "1 second" while he poured himself a drink and washed away what he had just eaten. He grabbed the cutlery and there was no apology. We decided to have desert as we were still hungry and the same thing happened again, a wait because he was talking and then our ice cream and cake come out while our dirty plates were still there! I was absolutely shocked, last time we were here, although the manager was going round shouting and swearing at all the members of staff our food was good! But this time it was shocking. This young man (receipt says jack) must have learnt off of his manager that this is the appropriate way to work. But it's gone down hill! It's understaffed and the staff they do have would rather stand on their phones and talk to people then serve customers who are actually waiting for food! It was ridiculous and I would ask for this person to be sternly spoken to as if I was his manger he would not be working there! On his phone, eating and drinking while making us wait for cutlery. You've lost at least 6 customers from this experience and the previous one being so bad! And I would ask for the manager to contact me regarding my experience but he is just like his staff and doesn't care! Like the last time when my wife couldn't eat her steak as it was very grissely, she was told by him "then don't eat it, nothing I can do" and walked away! Even when I used to come in for a pint at times I would catch him shouting and screaming and swearing at his staff Infront of the customers. It's shocking. The management is just as bad as the staff! I'd be looking for someone friendlier to the customers and staff before the pub goes downhill!

The staff are not helpful and the food was grease and the restaurant was dirty and they brought over my food and sneezed on it and then he walked away not even saying anything

My husband, son and I visited The Flyer tonight and it was heaving!! They had a birthday party of 18 people and the rest of the restaurant was full. We managed to get a table but were told we couldn't order straight away because they were so buy and could take no more orders so we sat and had a drink. Within 15 minutes out order was taken and within 10 minutes of that our hot delicious food was served, which we thoroughly enjoyed!! All the staff were very so attentive and Liam who took our drinks and food order is an asset to the restaurant, he was very friendly and interested in what I had to say, great night had by all!! Will be visiting again on 31 for my husbands birthday.

Aparecimos en 7:00 pm el lunes por la noche con una familia de tres, dos o tres mesas de repuesto, examinamos el menú, fuimos al bar y trató de orden, me dijeron una espera de 45 minutos para la comida, luego nos dijeron que no podíamos tomar mi pedido durante 30 minutos. No es ideal con un niño pequeño. No hace falta decir que no vamos a volver.
