This is an average spoons. Everyone i was with thought their food and drink was very "Alright" The food is nothing special. No tastes that popped out, but nothing grim really. Just, alright pub food. We had pizza, snack wraps, the sticky special chicken, as well as most of the pitchers, and a couple beers. MILK GOOD. The beers were good, but the pitchers were pretty inconsistent with strengths, and tastes. Everything was alot cleaner than we expected however. The table and menus were clean. And th staff seemed friendly, but they were in keep your head down and do your job and just get through the day mode. which is understandable as it was a sunday haha. Overall, It was a spoons. what more is there to say.

It’s a spoons so other than lack of music and the obvious walk to the “watering hole”… the service was superb .. didn’t eat so can’t comment on food … would recommend, great selection of ales and knowledgeable staff full of smiles. 👍🏼

The Ivory Peg is a must when I am in Chelmsford. Excellent value. Good food and great guest beers. A good atmosphere and good service.

Absolutely disgusting!!! Do not eat here….. I tried to have an old English staple bangers and mash, wow, pre-cooked slop, the mash was hard, the gravy was gluggy and had started to seperate. I didn’t even get to the sausages. I had one small taste and took it straight bak and demanded my money back. They couldn’t even cover the cost of the drink. And she said it was cool fresh, when 2023? Manager wasn’t even the slightest bit interested. Never ever……… I should call the health inspector. I have had nicer frozen meals from Aldi’s, and that’s saying something.

Good for a cheap no frills pint and some cheap food.

Always a good choice of beer and cider. Service recently has dipped slightly and one young person decided to serve her friends when they walked straight to the bar. When I politely pointed out I had been waiting and before them, she said I don't know you and served them so I walked out. The majorof the staff here deserve great credit for spotting who is next and always so friendly apart from this one young person. Shift manager of course backed her up.

An occasional visit to this place in the evening with mates is always good - a lively atmosphere and decent value food and beer. Mixed grill with Guinness.

Sight lines define a pub. One big room where everyone is ogling at each other isn't it.

as always with Spoons you get what you pay for, chairs and tables are very close together and is hard to get around the pub and to get to the tea machine tables are too close, machines need to be checked as they were running out of items.

Does what it says on the tin good selection of beers and spirits at reasonable prices and the food is good.

Undeniable value for money. Why is this business model not shared by the pub industry?

It's a spoons. Drinks are cheap, food is acceptable, tables are sticky. What more do you expect?

First visit to Chelmsford Wetherspoons. Wanted new Korean chicken and rice. No rice Friday lunchtime so had to have chips. This not good so low score. Did not get this in Maldon branch recently. Hopefully Wetherspoons will get their act together so they do not run out of rice

We visited here on a Thursday. I found it far too noisy and chaotic. The food was ok, nice and hot and quick service. The disabled toilet was flooded all over the floor so very dangerous especially for someone already unsteady on their feet. All in all not my favourite experience. I personally wouldn't go there again.

A mix of normal Spoons pub and local, works very well with good mix of age groups. Food the predominant focus at the moment.

Good food for the price. Around 10 pound for a meal including a drink is good value for your money. Food is very good, but it is a pub so also a lot of drink options. If you look for a more fancy meal this is not the place for you.

One of the worst Spoons I've ever been to, the atmosphere is terrible, but it is a few converted shops turned I to a pub!

Affordable prices, fast service even though the busy hours. Recommended.

It’s a Wetherspoons so I don’t know what people are expecting, they serve cheaper alcohol so it’s going to be busy. Food is edible but they guarantee to get it to your table within 10 mins so again you can’t expect to get gourmet food here. It does what it says on the tin.

We visited on a very busy Saturday night - bouncers were quick to de-escalate a potential situation in a calm way which was great to see. Also barmaid Lucy needs a special mention for such great customer service!

We stopped here on the way back from London for some lunch. I ordered fish and chips with a Pepsi, and partner ordered steak and chips with raspberry lemonade and we had some onion rings to share. Drinks were delivered quickly after ordering from the app, no complaints that so ever. The food took about 30 minutes for it to come out, which is a bit longer than normal for a weatherspoons however, the food itself was fantastic. The fish was very crispy and tasted very fresh. Nice big chips on the side. Steak was ordered medium and it was perfect. No complaints about the steak, again lovely big chips. Onion rings were large and crispy as well. The actual pub itself was busy (probably explains the wait) however we were able to get a seat on a clean table. Staff seemed to constantly be busy and were always happy and smiling.

Just your average Wetherspoons. Not as nice as many others

Half way through my drink after ordering some food using the app and another drink. Nipped to use the toilet and when I returned the waitress had taken my drink away and thrown personal items away.

Food was Wetherspoons standard, noce runny eggs although they had split open. Food came out before the drink which is unusual, the person serving food did acknowledge this and got my drink sorted for me. Books, although Ive never seen anyone read them. The toilets are underwhelming, particularly for a Wetherspoons. They have ship doors. There is no smoking area for this Wetherspoons which means people stand outside, but by the doors and smoke and the smell and smoke come in the pub. Eurgh.

Lovely spacious pub..... Ordered through the app which was brilliant. Plenty of space and different seats available. We placed our orders on the app and within a few minutes the drinks arrived shortly followed by the food. The waiter was very friendly and checked in after we had started. There are a few local characters in there but it had a friendly atmosphere. Plenty of choice on food and drink, of course with all spoons the prices were excellent! I had the veggie breakfast and it was super!

Food used to be very good, but not so good now (smaller portions same price).

I ordered Mushroom Benedict and found a hair in it. It seems like the kitchen is not working hygienically. Besides, they shamelessly claim they are busy, which doesn't justify poor hygiene. It's a really bad situation; I feel sick to my stomach. They are trying to cover up their faults by offering a refund without even apologizing. It seems like meals are not prepared under hygienic conditions at all. This is a major issue I've encountered. "I found white hair in my food, white hair! At first, I didn't understand, then I looked closer and realized hair shouldn't be in there."

Probably the worst dive in town, usually full of old guys getting tanked up for breakfast. The service is appalling, there is probably enough staff but they seam to hate serving the public, best avoided

Wheelchair accessible. High chairs for small children. It's a bit tightly packed table wise. Very busy and popular. Food comes quickly even at busier times.

This place smelled like urine and beer. The young lady who took our order was not very friendly. We said we'd have a BBQ chicken pizza, and she asked us which side we wanted. When she checked the order, I said she missed the pizza and was told they didn't serve pizzas. Then, she told me if I needed 3 hot drinks, I had to say it. Apparently, it was on me because I only said hot drinks once, but not for three times. Obviously she also had to tell me if they weren't serving the meals we wanted, rather than expecting us to know and giving us that unhappy face. This is worse than other Wetherspoons I've been.

Friendly staff, food really good size portions and real nice flavour, cost of food and drink for an afternoon was affordable and worth every penny, cheers.

It's a Tuesday; couple of pints with a friend, no atmosphere to talk of, just what I wanted from a 'spoons.

A standard weather spoons. Service a bit slow but was busy. Food was ok but it's a spoons. Toilets clean and tidy. Lots of empty glasses and plates on tables. Was ok but not great.will go back but U pay for what U get.

Had breakfast here while we were in Essex to watch cricket. Very handy for the ground. Really quick service and hot, tasty food

Good value for money, they didn't have any chips when we were there, not a problem we choose something else which was very nice, my husband was short a piece of chicken on his dish, we mentioned it to one of the staff, a young girl who just said "I don't know why that is" !! She should have gone into the kitchen and brought back what was missing but she did nothing. So training on customer service is definitely needed...

Typical spoons, did get served straightaway though and ale was well kept and cheap.

A characterless Whethspoons with all the usual stuff, but building is basically a large shop.

No tea bags. What place advertises hot drinks with no teabags? This was lunchtime and I'm told by bored looking staff that there might be some tonight.

Emily was our server and she was absolutely amazing. We asked for cocktail menu and she waited patiently for us to make our decision.. Will definitely be back

Meals were mediocre, place was quite busy and noisy, place looked tired, staff were good, apart from the lady chewing gum with her mouth open who had to wipe our table unhappily because we asked, as it was covered in sticky bits and drink, she didnt even acknowledge us when we said thank you, usual hike to get to the toilets as per other Weatherspoons. Beer cheap.

Economic and good place for gathering

As usual for a wetherspoons pub the food was good and prices reasonable

It's a wetherspoons just like all the others, but we do find coming here to stop the kids moaning about being hungry around town! Food is cheap and cheerfull, never honestly had an issue really. Kids love it, and serves a purpose! Honestly, American breakfast is the winner for me! Staff all seem happy and enthusiastic, clean all round so 10/10!

This is the worst wetherspoon pub I have been in. Filthy sticky floor with broken glass. Just filthy all round. People were coming in and had to clear their own tables. One place I won't be going to again. Management and staff didn't seem to care.

Just went in for a coffee. The coffee was good and the service was fine.

A busy Tuesday in the lead up to Christmas and the place was full. Good range of beers and ordered on the app. The food arrived quickly for a ta le of five. Had a problem with pizza in that it arrived on a luke warm plate and quickly went cold. Pizza in my local Spoons is served on a slate slab as this keeps it hot. I hope this was just a one-off.

Welcoming pub. Very busy. You can order food and drink via the Wetherspoon app and so do not need to leave the table and queue at the bar. Food was nice and hot. Staff friendly. Good atmosphere

Popped in for an early cuppa before starting our Christmas shopping. Lots of customers having breakfasts looked very good. Would definitely recommend.

I popped in for breakfast today There was a nice atmosphere there, the service was quick and the staff were very friendly I recommend stopping in here for a bite to eat or even to sink a few pints they've got a big selection of drinks available

Loved it new mini warp great value

Hate to be that person but waiting nearly an hour for a small wrap is honestly a joke. The staff member we spoke to was very apologetic for the wait and claimed they were rammed... however half the people in the location where drinking and not eating. There was uncleaned tables, and all the tables were crammed together to the point you couldn't sit without being back to back with someone. I have been to this spoons loads of times and normally have really good service. Must be the time of year I suppose? Just an honest review from a very hungry customer.

Cheap drinks and good atmosphere, win, win

Good value for money. I would like to mention a member of staff Julie. When she is working the tables are always clear and clean. Very pleasant lady. Other times I have had to move dirty plates and wipe the table myself.

Usual Wetherspoons. Big with plenty of people and the usual reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff
