What a fabulous old school pub. The beers on offer were just brilliant, Goodens Gold was delicious and the price was pretty good as well! Chatted to some locals, just enjoyed the atmosphere and ambiance, lovely bar staff, what is not to like??

Arrived without booking to a late lunch but they had closed the kitchen early. Sensing our disappointment they snuck in a late order and we were rewarded with a delicious pork roast. We tipped the chef as a result as it’s rare to find somewhere so accommodating. Well done the Pots!

Today’s meet up was enhanced by Simon and the Potts team. From the welcome, to fitting our booked group of 6 to expand to 14, to the excellent menu selection of nice, honest food and busy team service, it was a really, really pleasurable lunch. The beer was a surprise as well - the range on tap is wider than I was expecting, price a delight and everyone fed back on good taste. If only I hadn’t been driving! Well done. I am very happy to recommend this fine pub. Keep up the great work - we need more pub teams like this! Simon - please pass on out thanks to the whole team.

Went in this morning for toast and coffee. The toast was bearly warm let alone toasted, one side was still totally uncooked. We asked for marmite with IT, and was given marmalade, when I said we wanted marmite I was told we don't have any! We only got 1 small pack of butter per slice which hardly covered half of it. The coffee was the worst coffee we have ever had in any costa we have visited. It all looked really unclean and dirty. The staff member who served us was rude, I think she thought she we doing us a favour. RUBBISH BREAKFAST AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, IN A DIRTY ENVIRONMENT.

Goodbye to the worst Italian restaurant I have ever visited. Two years ago it was a great venue. Two weeks ago it was a disaster. A waitress was spraying chemicals everywhere while I was eating. Before I had finished my main course a waiter started sweeping beneath my table. He then told me that if I wanted a dessert I was too late because they were closing. When I entered the restaurant my greeting was : 'We close at nine, so you need to get a move on'. Other diners were receiving the same treatment, and in 20 years of eating out I have never witnessed such unprofessional behaviour from staff. Today it closed permanently, and good riddance to it.

We booked Sunday lunch with my sister and brother in law, we wanted to try the Chestnut Horse with the intention to book for Christmas. The starters were lovely but not to be said for the main course, my sister and I had the roast beef, the beef was cut thickly and the whole plate full was verging on cold, my sister order extra cauliflower cheese which arrived towards the end of her meal. We ordered puddings, my sisters came first, ice cream, and ours arrived half an hour later and was not fully as we ordered. The staff were very pleasant and apologetic. Such a shame for a lovely country pub.
