Love this place. It is so good to see a coffee shop really caring about their craft. The quality of coffee is excellent, I only have a black americano and you can really tell the difference. I see some comments here about speed of service. Personally mine was as quick as expected. If you want rapid service you probably should not attend and stick to your high street chains. Where the quality is sacrificed for speed. For me I would rather they take a little more time for a good quality coffee. Service excellent really helpful staff even on a busy day. You can tell they are doing their best to accommodate an eager clientele, particularly when considering the flower pot has a working kitchen with fantastic choice of food. I will definitely be returning 👍

This is my 'local', and until today I kept giving it another go, but today was the last time. Service here is poor. The coffee often precedes the food by several minutes, and sometimes part of the order doesn't show up. Today my food was hot at the bottom, cold at the top and the coffee was completely forgotten, wasting the time I'd set aside to enjoy breakfast. This is a great location, especially on a sunny morning. I'd suggest the owners focus less on being hip, having the logo tee-shirts and all the other visuals, and more on the experience of being a customer. The food here is not cheap (nearly £9 for a coffee and a roll) and it would be nice to feel that we weren't inconveniencing the staff by coming here.

Such a shame that they have taken so many favourites off the menu - also very expensive now. We just settled for coffee in the end. Also, the music was soooo loud, that we were shouting over ourselves, so we left and went to a cafe just up the road where we could at least have a conversation.

Breakfast was nice but let down by service and a staff member with a very bad attitude ( young lady behind counter drinking water from a huge green container) waited to be sested for 5-10 mins, thete were 5 staff behind the counter ! Breakfast was served before tea /coffee which took another 5 mins. Overall not enjoyable which is a shame as it could be so nice. The other isdue is it is "dog friendly" 4 dogs in a small area of about 8 tables all close together.

Chaotic loud place. Slow service. Long queue. Nothing fancy about the flour pot. Too pretentious and manager looked so grumpy

A very poor service. 15 wait for a coffee to take away. The girls making it seemed far too interested in their nails being done and chatting away. Not switched on to orders or customers. Far too pretentious I only wanted a coffee.

I have just visit the Flower Pot in Ditchling Road and amazed at the cost of their bread. I purchased a large and small seeded brown loaf. The large was £4.15 and the small £2.75. I also bought one Pain au Chocolate at £2.95 and a Vegan Croissant for £2.75. The total bill was £12.60. Will I buy bread from any Flower Pot in the future? The answer has to be no. I appreciate that the company will and can explain the prices, but when you can buy similar products from Tesco, Waitrose etc for less then the Flour Pot products becomes a luxury item

The Rosti is one of my top brunches in Brighton. FP isn’t the cheapest, but the ingredients are top notch, it’s absolutely delicious and well worth it. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Have been many times, more so at the Fiveways' branch. A few times now, the coffee has been a bit watery, tasted almost of nothing. Not sure why, less coffee, wrong milk or both! Also the food has become a bit expensive (plus the 10% service charge), very noticeable the last couple of years. I know cost of living has gone up the roof, but they've hiked their prices more so compares with other good cafes in Brighton.

Know it is Saturday but long, long wait fo food. Had view of kitchen, woefully understaffed, no sense of urgency, table next to us complaining, maitre de' chatting with mates, waitresses walking past not looking at customers, so difficult to pay. Usual stuff that just needs some training and proper supervision. Prices also up - a lot.

Came in for a loaf of bread earlier, at the end of the day, and a rude waitress had the door open but told me they were closed and that unfortunately the tills were down. This is all fine apart from the poor attitude from the staff! Never felt more like a piece of crap.

Food was mediocre and luke warm along with the hot chocolate but ok I went to meet a friend not for a gourmet meal. However my friend had bought £30 of coffee beans separately at the counter and asked to pay for them at the end. At the end of the meal the server asked if she could add 10% service charge to the bill and we agreed unbeknown to us that it included the coffee! When I queried this the server said it was company policy, built into the till receipt and could not be changed. He had already discussed it with the owner. So we ended up paying over £6 service charge for a snack costing £30 and it upped the price of the coffee beans by 10%. As I say above - what a con as well as a dismal response to my complaint. Beware Flour Pot customers! I won't be one of them as I wouldn't go there again.

I queued up at my local Flour Pot yesterday for a hot drink ( as I had done previously), but as I reached the front of the queue, I was told it was now waiter service. I apologised but the assistant said he’d serve me anyway and I should find a seat. I later heard the waitress with my hot drink complaining to the assistant within my earshot that he had taken the order and he said something to the effect of “ well I did tell her but she insisted”; frankly not true and unprofessional! Please train up your staff- they clearly don’t get customer service.

All four staff stood around not appearing to be helping any customers telling customers to "wait". This resulted in a long waiting time. Chai lattes were cold and tasteless. One waitress told me the wrong drink was soy milk when it was dairy milk. When I questioned this, she appeared to be annoyed. Perhaps the management could think of ways to raise staff morale because it seems very low.

I live right round the corner from this bakery - I so wish it was a great place as it would be so handy. But it really is not a great place. Believe me I have tried 3 times and it is bad each time. Have you ever been to a shop where the people working there seem to think they are superior to you in some way...like you're putting them out, or even a bit stupid? Well welcome to The Flour Pot Bakery where the staff clearly think you're an idiot, and that they are doing you a favour by actually serving you. The food is hideously overpriced as well - 2 drinks, a quiche and salad - £22!

First off, the Fiveways Flour Pot is no longer on Preston Drove, having relocated about 100 metres, it is now on Ditchling Road just uphill from the Fiveways junction. Having got the location sorted out, now for the review. The Flour Pot chain is one of the best things to hit the Brighton & Hove bakery and coffee shop world in recent years - this in a city that is one of the few places in South-East England to still have good local bakeries. This branch, which has only recently fully opened in its new location is probably the largest, with lots of seating space in a couple of nice airy rooms. The coffee and food are the same excellent quality as in the other branches - I regularly get breakfast from here and it vies with Julien Plumart for the title of best croissants and pains au chocolat in town. The Flour Pot also do vegan versions, which are just as good as (if different from) the conventional ones, and which as a confirmed omnivore I have quite often just because I like them. They also do a range of great bread, plus sandwiches and other savouries, and great cakes. The service is still a little haphazard, probably due to the new team settling down, and in this branch you'll need to brace yourself for delays caused by some of the other clientèle. A proportion of the locals in this affluent part of town belong to that fussy tribe who like to feel a little bit special by not just having the coffee or whatever just as it comes (great as it is), but want it to be adjusted to their specific desires, so you might find yourself queuing for longer than strictly necessary as they explain what those are. The patience of the staff is admirable. Apart from that minor qualm (less of an issue in other branches), it's highly recommended.

The coffee quality and execution is not up to the stated claims. Having waited 15mins for a take away I was anticipating high standards given the pricing structure. Not the case. I’m wondering jf the five ways community have forgotten true barista made quality and attention to the selection of the bean reading the other reviews. Friendly staff but you need to up your game in the delivery of the main product. The expansion of the business across the city has resulted in a drop of standards.

Shame its still in taeaway cups only! and take away containers, instad of plate, and my 'mint' tea, tea bag was in a very nice, but very plastic tea bag. Not good you need to keep up with the need to be environmentally aware. If i do drink here again i will take my own mug, but then theres Tilt next door, using proper cups.

Gosh, they make great coffee here. And the pastries are pretty impressive too. Quite busy first thing in the morning (always a good sign) but the service is friendly and efficient, so the wait is never too long. Definitely worth queuing for.

One of a chain of bakeries in Brighton. Good selection of cakes, some sandwiches and a limited selection of daily meals. Can sit inside or out. Decent value, service good and food good. Average doesn't mean that it is bad.

I'm sorry I have to leave this feedback but I hope it gonna help to improve your kitchen work.Since I saw a new menu with loyalty card I wanted to try a few dishes.First was smoked salmon and eggs and the taste was very poor. Had a few bits.Today I tried my luck with Full English. Ahhh...The eggs were raw, bens cold, mushroom watery and uncooked. Presentation worse than in a builders cafe where you can close your eyes on it as food really tastes good and costs £5. So for £11 I ate bread and 2 bacon slices + small sousage which was the only thing which tasted good.No mayo at all, all other sauces empty - 5 bottles available, all empty...Thank God coffee tastes good.Really disappointed guys.

Consiglio

The gentleman working in the kiosk (i believe he may be irish but I may be wrong) provided excellent customer service and it really set me up for a good day. He is wonderfully welcoming and friendly. Keep up the great work!
