I’ve come here quite a few times as it’s one of my favourite places to go for a pasty and a pint! Over the last couple of times I have been I have noticed that 1 girl in particular clearly don’t care if the business closes by the way she acts and stands about! But this one time I felt I need to to talk to one of the waitresses and the attitude was horrendous I don’t know the name of the young lady but she has short hair and a sour look on her face! Considering I myself work in the catering industry this is not a the kind of People I would want as the face of my business! The only reason I have given this review 3 stars is because of the young lady that served me she has ombré hair! Amazing service and even a nice conversation! Can’t quite remember her name but she was an absolute joy to have serve me! May think about coming again depends on staff!

We were so disappointed to find they were awaiting a new delivery of pasties when we stopped here for lunch to break our journey at midday. We settled for the cake on offer and what a good decision! Generous, moist and tasty. It was a first for us to take tea on a canal boat and what a delightful spot it is in good weather.

We arrived at opening time and as the main item on sale for lunch is pasties we hoped that the full choice as per the menu would be available to purchase, but rather oddly were told that a member of staff had gone across the water - a few seconds journey it appeared - to get stock and we could either have the two choices available or wait for the rest - for as long as it took basically. Well we got a little fed up with waiting so eventually chose one of the options that were available. It might be a good idea to replenish stock prior to opening time at 12 midday not while customers are actually standing waiting to order and pay! Once microwaved (presumably, as we heard a ping) the pasties were then handed to us in paper bags and were far too hot to eat. I asked for a knife to cut them in half so they could cool down a little before we could eat them. However, once they were cool enough to eat we found them to be delicious. As one of my party commented, it would surely be easier for the cafe to provide plates which could be washed up, rather than have to clear up all the crumbs that eating from a paper bag made. The decor was nice, the staff pleasant, the setting lovely, the pasties very enjoyable, just the above points stop me from giving it 5 stars.

Very friendly staff serving great coffee and (according to my wife, who is a professional pasty maker) the best veggie pasty she had tasted. A word of warning though, they come in paper bags and are very very hot. Best let them cool for a while before tackling them. It will be worth the wait. Such a nice location, quite strange being by a canal on a hill, that's the beauty of canals I guess. The actual barge, come bar is lovely and really well looked after. My issues were the way the food is served and the prices they charge, a £4 pastie almost thrown at you in a brown paper bag, very poor, but it tasted fine. Think I'll have an ice cream if I come again .

Canal boat café with outdoor and land based additional seating and tables. Lovely location. Likely to be the first weekend of opening (Easter), but the service was so slow, 35 mins in the queue to be served and I was only no 6 in line. Staff did apologize, but even that didn't make me feel better. Others were more vocal in that food was not appearing, or only half of the order apparently. I would return because the location is good, but maybe later in the summer when they are firing on all cylinders

Lovely to sit outside on a sunny day, great location at the start or end of your walk. Brilliant that dogs are allowed inside if the weather is not so good. I did email them via their website approx 3 weeks before our visit as my mother is a very fussy eater, so i wanted to check they had something she would eat on the menu, unfortunately i didn't get a reply. The only hot food they do is pastie's which my mum doesn't like so she ended up with a slice of cake but would have prefered something hot. My son and I found this place by accident at the beginning of our walk along the canal. It is absolutely delightful. The staff are warm, friendly and welcoming. The menu is simple, offering a variety of pasties, cakes and biscuits. We both had the steak pasty which was delicious and freshly baked - not reheated in a microwave. They serve real ales and have a good coffee menu. The setting is idyllic and well searching out. The weather was overcast and a bit cold when we were there so we didn't sit outside but I imagine that on a sunny day I could spend several hours just sitting with a beer or two watching the world go by. We spoke to the proprietor as we left who was very friendly and grateful for our feedback. A place we will return to again and again now we know it's there. Visired this place after a lovely walk along the canal with family who rarely meet altogether as we are at opposite ends of the country. Was a total disaster from star to finsh which in principle started with the fact that they don't accept payment by card (no sign of payment by caah only anywhere on the premises) we weren't advised of this and the lady continued to take a big order for six of us regardless. Once being told that it was cash only we dug deep into our pockets and scraped together 51p short of the £23.70 owing including my husband having to give up his unopened bag of crisps to help settle the bill. As there was still the 51p owing they wanted my father to drive to the cashpoint and leave his driving licence there as effectively collateral! My dad refused to do this and volunteered to give his name and address in good faith and he would send a cheque. This was refused and the manager was summoned by the staff who equally was dead set on getting her 51p back. She refused to accept responsibility for lack of signage or staff negligence for not ponying out cards are not accepted. All in all this put pay to what would really be a nice round off to our family weekend. The pettiness that was made by this company for the sake of 50p was completely unforgivable.

I love coming here for a nice ice cream made by Marshfield farm .The prices are the going rate and the service was great. They have very friendly staff which is rare to see at other places. The decoration in the boat was lovely and traditional for the canal. A great place to go for everyone

Firstly, to use either of the tea rooms at this location, you have to additionally pay to park too.Having seen how cute this floating cafe looked, I duly paid my parking and climbed on board. Theres no denying it is a pretty boat and pretty setting. The young man that served me was very pleasant and friendly. I ordered a coffee and one of their slightly differently filled Pasties, which were a bit pricey. I expect no less than for it to have been microwaved or "super cooker" cooked but it was overcooked. The filling was so hot I would have scalded my mouth had I not realised and none of the crust was edible because I couldnt get my knife into it. Very disappointing. They were not overly busy....However, when I pointed out the issue to the young lady who was serving there she did without hesitation offer to do me a fresh one or to give me my money back and I took the latter option. Hopefully for others visiting, I was just unlucky.

This converted barge is beautiful and there are plenty of things to choose from on the menu, it would be awkward for anyone disabled to get over the step down into the barge but there is good outside seating too. Definately worth a visit when in the area for morning coffee with a difference

We have been here several times. Fantastic setting on the Grand Western Canal. For great ambience and lovely beer a visit is a must. Very friendly welcoming staff and if you check out beforehand you can fit in a trip along the canal on the barge. A beautiful way to spend a day. The scenery is spectacular.

My husband and I have frequented the Swan Neck cafe many times, as we walk along Tiverton canal regularly. The experience has always been fantastic - cakes, coffee, hot chocolate - top rate. However my experience today was somewhat disappointing. I paid £7.50 for the soup of the day and a roll. I was astonished to see when it arrived that it was a smallish coffee cup of soup, rather than a bowl, accompanied by a small white roll. £7.50! The soup was delicious but in my opinion it should have cost about half what was paid. I always try to support small independent businesses but I'm afraid today's experience has left me feeling rather wounded and that I have been taken advantage of. Definitely not value for money in my opinion. Sorry Swan Neck but you've got it wrong on this one.

We called in for something to eat but it cost us over sixteen pounds for two coffees and two bland cakes you could go to bridge house just up the road and for another three pounds you can have two large coffees with two large snacks ,etc, Welsh rarebit with masses of gammon .the decor does not suit the bakery though I suppose that's what you are paying for but l for one do not like being ripped off,why calling a bakery when you can't buy any bread or cakes as you have to order it days in advance and there isn't any thing on display in the window. They are trying to be an upmarket cafe in the wrong place.we won't bother going there again ,rather go up the road ., at least we won't be ripped off.

I visited this tea room whilst waiting for my bus to Umberleigh. After travelling from Preston, Lancashire I was happy to be able to relax with a coffee. The staff were really friendly and the place had a great vibe. City life can be a bit hectic so it was refreshing to visit this little tea room and we were even tempted with cake which was delicious!
