We stopped by for dinner on a Sunday evening after visiting All Things Wild. We had 3 Sunday lunches, the pie and two children’s sausage and mash. Everything was fresh and presented well. We all enjoyed our meals and the decor of the lovely pub. Afterwards we had desserts which were different from what you usually find on offer, in a good way! We all really enjoyed the meal and desserts as well as the pub itself. Our children enjoyed running round the orchard afterwards collecting the apples. We would definitely recommend and return in future.

Having visited The Fleece many times in the last 9 years, today's experience was very disappointing! The place is fabulously oldy worldie and Bretforton is a lovely village. The food today, however was not as good as it once was. The menu choices are very paired down, with slightly odd combinations, within each dish. Chose a sandwich, which states on bloomer bread. Sadly, not a nice crusty loaf, but a generically manufactured, supermarket branded loaf ,which at £8 seemed a bit steep! Desert was a lime posset served in a small ramekin. Sadly it was not set,so was a custard with berries, again at £8, a bit of a rip off. My husband had 2 very small scoops of ice cream at £5! I am happy to pay for decent food at reasonable prices, but although the food was quite nice, it doesn't warrant the inflated prices, currently being charged! Whether it is the National Trust or the tenants of the Fleece who set the prices, someone needs to look at the current pricing and value for money, if you want locals to continue to support this venue!

Service was poor, waitress got order incorrect and then bought mains out when hadn't finished starter. So my fish mains had dried 🙃 Nobody checked to see if food was OK.

It was St Georges Day and busy because of the asparagus festival. The restaurant was fully booked but they quickly made me a table for one by a window right at the start of service. My food was a good average of gammon with potatoes and asparagus. The latter were roasted or grilled and delicious. However there was no indication that the asparagus was local, Vale of Evesham. I think it would be a good selling point to identify the grower. This is a growing tendency in restaurants to show the customer that their food is local and fresh, minimal miles travelled, and supporting local producers. It would have been nice to have a stall so that I could have bought some to take back to Dorset. The garden was busy with Morris dancers and onlookers and I am sure on this special day it would have been appreciated. The building is owned by the National Trust but I think the caterers are independent of the Trust. I feel that during the asparagus festival there should be more emphasise on this speciality and raise the standard of publication and presentation. The place is very attractive and makes a nice venue to visit.

The best beef and ale pie we have ever tasted. This inn came highly recommended and being in the area we had to visit it. We were definitely not disappointed, and in fact the whole village could be an Agatha Christie film set, but for street markings and road furniture, and of course the weather was beautiful on the day. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Booked for fathers day lunch. Very quiet when we arrived, which maybe is telling. Been to this pub before but never eaten here so thought we'd try it for today. Both had a roast. It didn't take long to arrive, both plates of food were luke warm at best and some bits were just cold. Shame really as it would've made such a difference if it was hot. I probably wouldn't sit outside to eat again, as i think that was part of the problem, it's such a massive garden area, that i expect the staff were trying to find us outside and the food went cold. Also hardly had any stuffing on my plate of food. Literally a teaspoonful. Probably won't eat here again, as there are better places that are closer to home. On the plus side, they have a great selection of ale and cider!

Following a friendly greeting, our order was taken. After waiting for 30 minutes, we noticed that other tables - who arrived after us - were receiving their food. We asked when our food would arrive and after another 10 minutes wait, it finally arrived. The food was very good and this has saved this review from being given a 'poor' rating. Once the plates were cleared we asked for the dessert menu and another lengthy delay occurred. A real shame that the poor and slow service spoilt our enjoyment of the evening.

A group of us stayed in Bretforton for three nights and thought we’d try the Fleece Inn for dinner on our first night. We all had pie for dinner - chicken & leek and sweet potato, lentil & feta. Unbelievable!! I’ve never had a pie that came close to - we all loved them. So much so, we went back for Pie & a Pint night and had exactly the same thing, 2 nights later. The Inn itself is very quaint - built in the early 15th century it’s lots of interesting artifacts on display and crazy tiny doors with wonky window frames. There are even white circles by the fireplaces to keep the witches out. Is you are in the area, I strongly advise a visit - you’ll thank me!!

Found the Fleece through our National Trust handbook and took a detour from Evesham for an early evening meal. Wonderful atmosphere, if a little crowded even on a Tuesday evening. Must be rammed at the weekend. Very attentive service including drinks brought to our table as the bar area is very cramped. Enjoyed our dinner. Asparagus with egg was fresh and tasty and the beef and mushroom pie was excellent, great flaky pastry. Good hand pumped beers and a detailed wine list. One downside: too busy to serve coffee but a small problem of a great visit

This pub has fantastic reviews and they’re ALL completely true. Brilliant staff, open fires, low beams and a cosy atmosphere. The chef is constantly providing fabulous meals, and today’s Steak Pie followed up with the Sticky Toffee pudding certainly met with expectations. It was raining the day I was here, but the outdoor garden provides for numerous seating areas and I’ll definitely be returning for some alfresco dining.

Perhaps the most amazing public house in the county, impossible to ignore it's history. Beautifully reconstructed building, powerful and delicious drinks, well cooked, nutritous food, but the service left me feeling underwhelmed that day, which is a shame. Very nice to sit down near an open, roaring fire, but the one adjacent to our table caused me alarm. Perhaps less flame would be prudent, no one was in the slightest bit cold. It was like Nov 5th, in April! Would definitely give this pub another go though (if it's still there), for us the chef saved the day. That menu is great.

Our experience started well, I pre booked a table days before our arrival, we were very excited to try The Fleece Inn. When we arrived the bar staff were lovely, there was an event on which meant the bar was busy but that all added to the atmosphere. We thought we were in for a treat. We were seated at our table by the fire, my name was written on the board on the table. The waitress came and took our order. After 5 minutes of sitting and enjoying our warm surroundings we were informed by a member of the team that there had been a mix up and they needed to change our table. Ok, bit of a shame as we were already seated but we were willing to move to help them out. The manager then came to us as we waited for our new table to tell us that we had been double booked and there actually wasn’t another table available for about 45 minutes. But we could sit at one of the tables outside. I am all for eating alfresco but this is early April in the evening, it’s not exactly warm outside. We felt we did not really have a lot of choice as we had been at work all day and not yet eaten, so we went. We were sat at a table outside which was under a heater, which we were thankful for but it was not the experience we were hoping for. As we were sat outside with our coats on,we noticed a huge crack in one of our glasses which had been missed by the bar staff, after many apologises from the staff the drink was changed. The food was lovely and served hot. The manager came to see us whilst we were outside and asked if we wanted more drinks as they were on the house to which we declined, she also said as a good will gesture they would take either a starter or main course off the bill, on reaching the till to settle the bill we had been charged for all of our food and just the drinks had been taken off. Not the experience we were hoping for!! Because of this we probably would not return or recommend. Being a National Trust pub and members naturally we are very disappointed.

Called in as I was collecting an eBay auction item 100 metres down main street. Got to the gates of the Fleece to the orchard and main entrance. “NO PARKING PAST THIS POINT”! With the public parking spaces on the square full, a clear message from the National Trust, Dogs welcome, Disabled patrons not! Is this a 50’s throwback and Irish and other minorities are similarly precluded?

Stumbled upon The Fleece Inn on a friend's recommendation, and it turned out to be the best-kept secret pub in the area! The history lover in me was thrilled – originally built in the early 15th century, it has remained largely unchanged and is packed with fascinating stories. Despite not booking, we were warmly seated in front of the open fire, and the atmosphere was truly unique. The burger was delightful, showcasing their commitment to delicious pub grub. The real gem, however, was discovering an incredible community feel, amplified by stumbling onto a fantastic event that evening. The barn, an absolute stunner, instantly became my dream place in the UK for a wedding! The pub's rich history, detailed on their website, adds another layer to the charm. Built by a farmer named Byrd in the 15th century, it remained in the same family until 1977, when it was bequeathed to the National Trust by the last descendant, Miss Lola Taplin. Adding to the charm was the proximity to a local church, a community shop, and even llama-looking animals in a nearby field. Watching videos and learning about Nigel only deepened my appreciation for how The Fleece Inn continues to be a central spot for the community. This visit won't be the last – The Fleece Inn has won my heart, and I’ll be returning time and time again. A truly remarkable experience in every way!

Limited menu, food not good and overpriced for what it is. Chicken Caesar Salad is simply lettuce with a few bits of chicken, croutons and cheese, smothered in gallons of mayonnaise. Lamb Chop tough, and the plate covered with loads of tasteless oil - what for? Deserts no better - Chocolate tart so rock hard it couldn’t be cut with the single spoon provided, and quite a bit ended up on the table/floor.Terrible atmosphere, freezing cold, no fires lit where we were sat, and the seating so awkwardly placed it was difficult and uncomfortable to make conversation amongst the three of us. Poor service - in fact more or less self service. We had to go and find waiting staff twice, as nobody came to us, despite the pub being half empty. Can’t understand the good reviews, would definitely not waste my time or money going there again.

This is a beautiful historic pub in a stunning Cotswold village. I have visited here many times over the years but not for a while in recent times. The pub is dog friendly and there were several well behaved dogs in attendance. My partner and I are mainly vegetarian but will eat fish if we have to.The menu was limited as far as vegetarian options were concerned and one of us had to resort to fish. I am glad it was not me because I could not have managed the fish without decent chips but my partner was happy. We had bread and parmesan and chive cream for nibbles and that was really good.We were happy with the whole experience and the bill was reasonable. So reasonable that I asked if it was correct and covered what we had eaten. If you come here book in advance. We were lucky to get a table.A small moan. There was very little vegetarian choice. I did manage to find something to eat but my partner could not have eaten it because it was too spicy. Vegetarians need choice too and sometimes limited choice is more than unhelpful.Service was slow but the place is busy and if you are coming here allow plenty of time.We enjoyed our time here and would return. However, when I do come back I will check the menu first and book a table.

Went for lunch to celebrate a birthday. We sat outside on a lovely March spring day. I found the menu pretty limited unless you wanted a pie which I believe are delicious. I picked a dish which was described as roast loin of pork. It turned out to be a pork chop, pretty dry and fairly tough, a few potatoes and a couple of pieces of green kale. Quite disappointing for £17.

judging by the previous reviews we had high hopes of our visit to the Fleece. Myself and my Wife had the Sunday roast with chicken of which most of it was at best luke warm, on a positive note the Chicken breast was great, but the Veg was basically crunchy and not cooked through enough the Broccoli stalks were impossible to cut through. The roast potatoes had not been roasted for any where near enough time and were boiled potatoes with a little colour but no crunch, the Yorkshire pudding was cold, the stuffing had that uncooked taste along with the cauliflower cheese again the sauce tasted of raw flour and hadn't been cooked out. My wife has a Wheat intolerance so had the gluten free option which basically meant she didn't get Yorkshire pudding,Cauliflower cheese or stuffing (which was probably a good thing) but still got charged £14. My 89 year old mother had the fish and chips which was served on a wooden board...really..I thought those days had long gone? so she ended up with a lot of peas in her lap. no one came at any time and enquire as to how the meal was. No idea if they were having an off day but wont be going back to find out.

Little gem - my husband and I visited for lunch today after booking last minute for Sunday lunch. We arrived to Morris Dancers ( which was great) and were quickly shown to our table, right by the fire. The room was cosy and the ambiance was Christmassy. Ordered the beetroot starter and soup - both were delicious and then then we both had the Roast Pork . I am quite fussy when it comes to roasts but it was perfect - the potatoes , Yorkshire’s and vegetables. There was so much food, we couldn’t manage dessert , but we will be back. Terrible evening, freezing cold inside and the meal not much better.A log fire was expected to heat the room, but failed dismally. We both had roast pork which was lukewarm and the vegetables weren’t cooked properly. So the main meal was beyond disappointing. The next mistake was to have the sticky toffee pudding, which came in a thin slice topped with vanilla ice cream. A bad choice as this again was barely heated. All in all a very disappointing evening. The meal was over and finished in 50 minutes which is a unwelcome record for a meal out. A one star rating for a meal costing almost £50 isn’t good business however you want to play it.There is no chance I would ever go here again

Super meal in the beautiful orchard at The Fleece Inn in Bretforton last night. Although it was busy, as you'd expect on a lovely summer's evening, there was very little wait for drinks or for our food which came promptly. The ordering app works really well, although we still preferred to order our food from one of the delightful waitresses who are now armed with iPads for efficient & speedy ordering. We had poached smoked haddock with panko-breaded Vale asparagus, smoked salmon salad, the Moving Mountains veggie burger, and the asparagus-season special pizza with parma ham. All delicious. And our kids made light work of their halloumi sticks, fish & chips and pizzas. At a time when the whole hospitality industry is struggling to recruit staff, you couldn't tell at The Fleece last night. Very well done!

And glad we found it, despite satnav saying our dedtination was in the middle of nowhere (don't trust it and check your way beforehand). Not your regular pub - much more restaurant quality, and I loved the asparagus specials. Very good local ales, while wine selection was small but good and very honestly priced. Service was great and the inside dining room looks like a Tudor period drama set - apart from the fact that it is original. Only negative side, it's not closer to home to visit regularly!

We were drving around the Evesham area trying to find one of the old asparagus pubs, and the name of the Fleece popped up. So off we went to find it. Tucked away in a corner off the main road. The parking was difficult as the inn does not have its own parking. But we made it and went into the yard area. There was plenty of seating here and in the garden, so we were happy to be directed to a table. Two or three young women were serving very efficiently and there was a good choice of local bitters and ciders. The pub had a feel of Old England about it and this was a most enjoyable visit.

We had read very mixed reports about this place so unsure what to expect. We needn't have worried the food and service were excellent. It is tiny but full of atmosphere, stone floors, open fire, genuine oak beams. We both ordered their famous steak and ale pies with chips, peas and gravy. These were served very promptly by a a pleasant cheerful lady. They were the best steak and ale pies ever. Packed ful of melt in the mouth beef. We asked for extra gravy and 2 minutes later a jug arrived at our table. Deserts were quite nice. My pana cotta was a bit solid but very tasty. Hubbies sticky toffee pudding was light and delicious. We chose this as National Trust members who were going to be in the area and it looked like a nice treat for the first meal out since Lockdown ended. Parking is difficult (nothing in the Inn itself so it has to be on nearby roads) so please allow plenty of time. Inside we got the feeling the main problem was lack of staff. As soon as we sat down we were rushed to give our full order. Usually you order drinks first and then get time to read the menu. We had looked online beforehand so had a idea. I asked for pizza because of this, and it was available but we were not offered a pizza menu on the day so we wouldn’t have known otherwise. The asparagus soup was delicious and came with generous butter for the bread. There was quite a wait for the main meal. My enormous pizza was delicious (too much for one!) but my husband’s fish and Chips were disappointing with the ‘hand cut’ chips thick and very dry inside. Then we waited and waited for our plates to be cleared and a second drink to arrive. We then waited a further long time for our desserts (ordered at the beginning if you remember). Due to COVID Regs you don’t feel you can get up and go looking for staff. Finally someone came and asked if we wanted anything else. This made us realise our pudding wasn’t coming so as we didn’t feel like waiting any longer we paid and went. We were also chilly inside and had to ask for a blanket. It was rather dark too. Perhaps the fire is usually lit but wasn’t allowed at the present time. With all that has happened this year it seems churlish to complain and hopefully there will be improvements as the season goes on. It looked very attractive outside and we wish all the staff the best.

First visit to the Fleece while stying at the Old Wash House in the village, a short walk away. We were fortunate to be able to book in advance one of the horse boxes complete with heater! We dined here for two nights, the first one we both decided to go for the Sunday roast and chose lamb. It was excellent and almost melted in the mouth and the portions were more than adequate. The second evening we shared the ham hock and asparagus starter, for our main course I had the beef burger on a sourdough bun and husband had the chicken, pancetta and asparagus pie.The food was delicious and good value, the only thing I would mention was the poached egg on the starter wasn't runny, but didn't mention it at the time as everything else was so good. Great choice of ales and wine which we were able to enjoy as we were staying so close. We found the service excellent and nothing was too much trouble, and were surprised at some of the less favourable views we had read. It's been a difficult time for the catering industry, and I would have thought people would have been more understanding of the situation. We highly recommend it and would certainly return in the future when possible.

We visited this lovely looking pub at the weekend and were so disappointed. It had been recommended by a friend so we were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, it was nothing like the picture we had envisaged. The place was so busy that the staff just couldn't cope. I don't know how they were allowed to have so many people there. I'm not aware of any changes to restrictions just yet. There appeared to be some kind of party going on with clearly more than 6 people and there were also tables of people who were obviously all together as they were stood around chatting in close proximity. We were sat under one of the marquees which was dirty and the chairs on our table were all cheap plastic ones that didn't even match. Rustic maybe? The food was ok (but it took ages to arrive) nothing to write home about but nice enough. The service unfortunately was dreadful. I'm not sure what the issues were but the staff members we saw seemed really unhappy to be there at all. I didn't get any names but we were served by a lady with reddish hair in a short ponytail. We were a party of 4 and ordered some drinks on the app and all was fine, initially thought it was a great idea as we could pay upfront and so much easier, however.... we later decided to order more drinks which we did on the app, they never arrived. The other couple with us then ordered some more drinks and they did arrive. When I queried where our drinks had got to with the waitress, she told me that we just had to wait as they had to do them all in order and there was a queue. I tried to explain that others who'd ordered after us had had theirs, it seemed to fall on deaf ears. It was at this point that we realised that we had no confirmation from the app of our order and the bar had seemingly 'lost' our order so not a great system. The whole place just seemed to be chaos. The table next to us got so fed up that they left to go and eat somewhere else. We've visited a number of places since we've been able to and they all seem to have great, new procedures in place with clean, modern outdoor furniture and friendly staff. I don't know if this was just an off day or whether they just re-opened before being anywhere near ready. Either way, we won't be returning unfortunately.

My partner and I have always enjoyed visiting the Fleece Inn on special occasions and I always recommend to family and friends. However, we felt really let down by our visit on Saturday due to the timings of drinks/food and the service provided We arrived on time for our booking at 7pm and were then sat down – quite close to a wedding reception. The waitress (waitress 1) then asked what drinks we would like. I asked what ales did the pub have on and she responded by listing them very quickly. Due to the speed at which she listed them, we had to ask her to repeat 3x. Finally, she slapped a menu down on the table and said ‘read through these’. She was extremely blunt and rude and gave the impression that she had no time for us. Our drinks then took half an hour to arrive. Upon arrival, I asked the waitress (a much younger girl) if she could take our food order. She apologised and said that she could not. I explained that we had been waiting half hour already to place our order. About 10 minutes later, the waitress 1 came over. The first thing she said was 'you do realise that you can make an order on the app.' We explained that the app was not working - she responded by saying that the pub was very busy. I asked for a pie, however they had sold out. This was extremely frustrating as one of the main reasons that we come to the Fleece is for its ‘award winning pies’ - also surely we could have been informed of this when we arrived? We then felt very pressured to choose another meal - my partner ended up choosing something that she immediately regretted (however due to the attitude of the waitress, we avoided changing). At the same time, the table opposite us asked for their bill. They waited for half hour and it still had not come and were forced to go up to the pub.The food took another hour to arrive and during this time Wwitress 1 spent several minutes stood behind our table watching the wedding and the area we were sitting in. In this time, she didn't ask if we would like more drinks (my glass was empty as we'd been waiting about 45 minutes by this point) and she didn't bring any cutlery over in preparation for our meal. However, another waitress did notice these omissions, apologised for the wait, took a drinks order, and supplied cutlery. The table behind us were also very annoyed about the quality of their deserts (sticky toffee pudding). Waitress one again was quite blunt with them and came across as rude. After she’d left, the table spent a good 5 minutes talking about this poor service. When paying, I did explain to one of the younger waitresses about our experience - again she apologised and stated that it was due to the pub being busy. However we felt this had not been fed back as no one else spoke to us. Nevertheless, the food was the saving grace and was superb as usual - we couldn't fault it! However, due to the service we received from waitress 1 (who was, to be honest, rude) and the wait times for food and drink we left feeling really disappointed by the experience. This isn't a cheap pub like Wetherspoons and for us was meant to be a special treat due to the cost. It was also a meal out for my birthday and these instances spoilt what should have been a lovely day. I doubt we will be returning soon.

I use this place fairly regularly , but visited last Saturday 17th We were booked into a horse box , but when we arrived they had no record of our booking , so we were offered a table near the toilets , it then took 45 minutes for us to get a drink and some of our choices weren’t available ( our chosen red wine was not available , but it took 25 minutes to tell us ) then eventually , after about an hour, we were asked for our food order , my partners choice was not available , nonetheless we ordered and then 30 minutes later 3 of the 4 meals arrived , the other meal arrived only after three of us had eaten and the plates cleared in !! As I said I’ve used this place regularly over many years , so will inevitably give it another go , but frankly this was an awful dining experience and the Fleece needs to really tighten up its act as if this had been my first experience of this great pub , I would not be returning

We (a family group of 6), had booked a table for 16:15. We had to queue for 15 mins to get to the desk to show us to our table. We were shown to our table and left for an hour before anyone came to take our order. There was an option to order from the table, which we had done, so told the waitress that we had ordered. Two and a half hours later and having asked 3 times where our drinks and food were, it finally arrived. I had ordered 'cheesy chips' which were very dry and unappetising. The waitresses were walking about with one item/dish in their hands when delivering to tables instead of using trays. This pub is our local - we live in the next village, so are regulars. This is the worst service we have ever had. The excuse we were given was "we are very busy". This is fine, but why make so many bookings if your service is going to suffer this badly!?

We had a family Dinner just prior to Christmas. Food was very nice but the evening was slightly tainted by the lazy Middle aged male member of the staff. All he did in the 1.5 hours we were there was to stand behind the bar on his phone and with a face that looked like he had swallowed a wasp!. He left the bar area twice that I noticed to head for the loo area so did not assist at all with waiting tables. He was also dressed as shabbily as possible - t-shirt hanging out with what looked like jogger trousers on and dirty trainers. You expected him to come up and ask you for some change! The guy just made the place look tatty and should never work in such a nice place.Shame he was there!

We visited on a sunny September day to have a bite to eat and a few beers. The garden is huge and all of the staff working there are non stop providing table service. Everything was done with a smile and as quickly as they could. Sarah served us and she was very sweet and clearly knew her role very well! We had a burger each and some chips with bacon and cheese on and they were delicious - and hot which is no mean feat. Everything was brought out on slates with our own cutlery in a little cardboard box. After a few pints of nice cold lager we settled up and wandered out very happy indeed. I would highly recommend this place, it's friendly, historic and utterly beautiful. We'll be back as soon as we can!

Food is clearly huge in this pub, with its massive outside eating and drinking area. Came here on a sunny Sunday in September for lunch. Great selection of local beers. I would describe this as a pub where food is a big feature rather than a gastropub but the overall balance of price, quality and excellent staff can be recommended. My roast beef at £14 was acceptable. Overall, it’s not bad with very pleasant staff (all female on my visit). Worth a stop. Very fair prices.

I have wanted to visit for a long time so we booked a table for lunch which would be in the orchard which was fine. On arriving we found our allocated table was next to the "new" outdoor urinals which have been built in the garden. The sounds and smell was totally off-putting and we did not want to eat there any more and decided to just have a drink and leave. We ordered two soft drinks and asked for the bill when the drinks arrived and then we waited and waited, so asked another waitress and waited again and then asked a third. After 50 minutes of waiting to pay I had to go into the pub to find someone.

Sometimes you walk into a pub and feel immediately at ease, and The Fleece is one of those special places. The ales were drank as if they were water, the food was delicious and it was privelege to be in such a historic and important inn. There are so many wonderful stories and tales within The Fleece (witch circles, Miss Lola Taplin, the pewter collection) and, I imagine, the hidden secrets and locals from the past still live on here too. We stayed in the Masters Chambers which was small but extremely comfy. Before leaving, I bought my very own leather tankard and will buy the book at a later date. I can't wait to return.

Strangely for a National Trust venue, this pub is not sign posted in the area, so not easy to spot. No parking at all by the cross, the parking for most people in the area & for pub patrons, holds about 20 cars only, so local road parking outside people’s houses are the only option.Despite being told when we reserved a table five real ales would be available, only three ales on. One of those was “off”.Pub needs to make people aware when booking ahead; that eating & drinking is done outside only, where, what the staff call a marquee is clearly nothing more than a gazebo with no sides what so ever. It maybe nice sitting outside on a warm day but on days when it’s wet & very windy, to mislead people not from the area as to the seating & eating arrangements is clearly wrong.Only three gazebo’s which didn’t cover that many tables. Most of the tables & benches are not undercover & only some of the front ones have the push up brollies on them, most just open to the elements & the windfall of apples that adorn the lawn. How the tables are situated under the gazebo’s, the people sitting at the edges & not inwards around the tables, basically get wet when the rain falls, so it’s useless. The table numbering system went down to table 77, I assume all 77 tables are outside. The pubs version of sandwiches is ciabattas, the ciabatta menu is served 12.00- 14.30 hrs Mon – Fri. Only five options available, but they are on a separate menu not handed out with bigger A4 menu sheet. The ciabattas range from £5.50 - £7. The drinks menu is at the back of the food menu. The food menu has starters, mains, sharers, sides & dessert’s. The starter to be fair were quite nice. The meat platter was anything but, four rock hard pieces of chorizo, a wee bit of ham & some chicken goujons are not exactly what I call suitable amounts of meat for a platter, compared to other platters I’ve had before. There were virtually nowt to eat the meat with either. The salad looks like it was enough to go in one small bap & the one petit pains wasn’t enough to do anything with. Pizza oven at front of beer garden.Virtual quiz on Mon 8pm. The real ales quality failed me, they tasted like the beers had been left on all week & run their course. All in all a disappointing visit overall. Staff need to be honest as to the arrangements outside not fob you off over the telephone. The pubs website does not indicate how the situation is either, no one wants to eat outside on a wet windy awful day with little or no coverings over the table / benches followed by awful drinks & disappointing food. It just puts you off visiting again.

The one good meal served out of 6 was the steak pie. The other five meals were horrible. How you can go so terribly wrong making pizza and salad is unbelievable. Almost £15 for salad with chicken which was so dry and rock hard. A raw pizza, litterally doughy base. Not to mention the ridiculous long wait and we all recieved meals at different times. It was a shame as the huge beer garden was set out very well. Would return for drinks but definitely no food.

We went for lunch and sat in the orchard which was lovely and a good start. Unfortunately it went downhill. We were handed menus and a full page of Covid guidelines with information and instructions on how The Fleece was dealing with Covid. My G&T then arrived in a glass with lipstick on it. Our meals were then delivered and placed on the wrong table and taken away. We were assured of course that they would be cooked again from scratch. They were re-delivered and the steak pie was hot and tasty - unfortunately the chips and peas were barely warm and had obviously sat on the plate. Our other dish - a salad with halloumi was very disappointing. A few salad leaves and some pickled onion served with a piece of burnt halloumi which was also cold - not sure what went wrong when the dishes were cooked again from scratch, The halloumi was barely touched. The staff made no comment and did not ask how our meals were as they took our plates. We had made up our minds by this time and we just couldn't be bothered. We won't eat there again and it's a shame because we've had some good food over the years.

We had excellent friendly service, great beer and a wonderful atmosphere. When we first arrived, a full drink slid off the wonky table (nobody's fault but gravity's) and was cleared up without fuss and replaced. No beer mats allowed apparently in this traditional pub...Burger was very good, but other food was very disappointing. Expensive lamb dish was lacking flavour and almost cold, and a pork dish was overcooked, tough and dry. Earlier embarrassing problem with the drink meant we didn't didn't want to "cause more problems".

Visited here frequently this year and recent years, often showing the place to friends and relatives who didn't know it. Everyone loves the building, but are staff not particularly welcoming at the bar and serving staff want to rush away asap. Beer is OK, but variable in temperature and quality. Maybe too many hand pumps on to keep all in tip top condition, unless someone makes it their business to check at the start of each session..More warmth from staff and explanation of menu items, what the soup is and any specials etc. would make diners feel more welcome and important. Many barely say a word. The place lives off its reputation for being a great venue.

After quite a wait the game casserole arrived. It was good, the potatoes were good but the roast vegetables non existent. My querying this brought the answer that the vegetables were in with the meat, but this is clearly not the intention as the menus indicated three items -casserole, potato, vegetables. There was a bit of carrot, well cooked with the meat but I would expect roast vegetables to be separate and crispy. Some over cooked boiled veg brought afterwards was not the answer. We have eaten here several times over the last few years, but this time found prices high for what it was.

Was so looking forward to visit here, as we love going out for food and we are working our way through the UK Pub guide. This pub has supposedly won Pub of the Year! But I don't see how. We went here for my partner's birthday and thought it was going to be a special night. We arrived and were glared at by locals , wouldn't even slightly move to the side to let us past to our table. Then we were shoved in the corner of a freezing cold room out the back and all shoved around a table that was meant for two people but there was four of us! We all had to keep our coats on we were so cold, also the chairs were uncomfortable. Then the meal started, firstly the waitress spilt our drinks which went over my bag, they had ran out of a more than one item on the menu (at 7 o'clock on a Saturday), including the halloumi skewers which I tried to order for a starter, however, I then saw someone who turned up after us get given these for starter instead. The waitress didn't know what each meal was what when it came to the table, we asked for extra bread for the pate and it was made out we'd asked for the Earth. Also asked for my burger without cheese but cheese came in it anyways and couldn't be bothered to wait for longer so just scraped it off. When our mains came the plates could barely fit onto our tiny table in the corner. The service was awful and the food was mediocre at best. Don't accept a pub of the year award, which is obviously going to bring in new people visiting, if you clearly don't want new people and you only want locals from the village. Don't appreciate spending money to freeze in a corner while being made to feel uncomfortable.

Fancied a trip out to Bretforton and lunch at the Fleece Inn. Previously we have had some lovely food here. Thus lunch was disappointing to say the least. All three of us had the fish and chips served with minted mushy peas and tartare sauce. Unfortunately none of us enjoyed the meal. We paid £11 each for fish that was more greasy batter than fish, the fish was not fresh. The chips were basically greasy potato wedges, the portion quite small. Bread and butter was not great as the bread was a little stale. This is disappointing as this pub is owned by the National Trust. However, I must say that the standard of food served is not great and not good value for money. Won’t bother eating here again.
