Used The Bell for an overnight stay after a day at Cheltenham races. It has turned out to be a little gem and we will definitely use it again. The room was ok but the highlight was the restaurant and pub. Our food was great and the central fireplace lovely.

We weren’t sure what to expect this was our first time to “The Bell” we were welcomed with excellent hospitality. The pub is beautifully decorated with hunting rifles and bird carvings. The food was more than we expected exquisite, in taste and presentation. You will not be disappointed and the price for the meals for two people was just right. So if you want to dine out when you come to the Cotswold you MUST STOP by and visit the bell. If you can call to book your table as the place gets booked pretty fast.

Had a voucher from BuyaGift and used it for a 2 night bed and breakfast stay here. The Bell has very welcoming, friendly staff. Our room, while small, was perfect for what we needed. The bed was very comfortable and cosy and it was very clean and airy. Breakfast was great, plenty on the menu, and good tea and coffee. We had food both nights in the restaurant as we were so happy with the menu and the setting (open fire and spacious, warm, welcoming seating). The dairy and gluten free options were extensive, and it was nice to be able to choose from so many of the same menu options as the standard offering, though the dairy-free dessert was less extensive, just ice-cream/ sorbet. The food in general was lovely, clean plates and no complaints. Generally, it is a lovely, quiet, comfortable stay and ideal for visiting the Cotswolds, Worcester, and surrounding areas as long as you drive.

An excellent meal served piping hot and beautifully cooked and presented. I had chicken supreme which was delicious and my partner had the goats cheese, mushroom, onion and pepper sizzler which he thoroughly enjoyed. For dessert I had the very tasty mango creme brulee and my partner had the pear and apple crumble. Would thoroughly recommend the Bell for its great food and welcoming staff.

Amazing Great Hotel Wonderful Service Delicious Food Great value for money. Stayed here as a group of four found everything to be of the highest standards. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was above and beyond. If I had one issue it would be to have a lighter duvet with a blanket as did find the duvet too warm for the time of year. Other than that everything was absolutely wonderful. Will definitely return if visiting the area again.

Unfortunately (I’m sure you’d agree) we spend more of our time writing bad reviews on here and complaining at the restaurant. Refreshing that this is one of the best reviews I have given. with some who has spent a decade working away and eating at restaurants all over the UK and someone who used to work in hospitality, I regard my self as someone who has very high standards and expectations with quality of food, value of food and customer service. Me and my family came to the Bell last night on a recommendation from a client of mine whose family are local. We are from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. The food and service was faultless from not just me but every family member (6 of us). I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a family meal eating out where no one on the table had any issues with food or service. Credit where credit is due. We thanked the staff and the manager for such a good service and told them to thank the chefs for making such good food. One of the best pies I’ve ever had to be honest. Steak ale & mushroom pie, with one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever tried, bisscoff cheesecake. 10/10 and would highly recommend to anyone to come try. Thank you for making our NYE experience a memorable one. Steven & family

If the Daily Mail's 'An Inspector Calls' feature ever bothered to venture beyond London and the South East there's a better chance of them happening on a place like this. There was a welcoming atmosphere the moment you walked through the door. It even had something of a French feel to it which was appropriate since there were three frenchmen dining at the next table. Restaurant service was excellent and the food delicious. It was busy and the place had a real buzz to it which was quite an achievement considering there was no music being played. The Restaurant opened out onto a beer garden which I imagine would be populated for far longer had the weather been a little warmer. Our room was a little on the small side but was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. Good full English breakfast the next morning. Would definitely recommend this place.

This is been one of my favourite places to dine, food and the service has always been outstanding, I don't expect food business to get it right 100-percent of the time but on my last visit the food was awful, cheap meat cuts and tasteless, As I prefer to give my feedback privately,, so I phoned the next day and I spoke to the business manager Kerry, her reaction was shocking, making me feel like I was the problem for phoning, I was really taken aback by her reaction, it was so rude and condescending.. I have lost count of how many people I have previously recommended. the bell to Is this really how you value your customers Kerry?? Won't be rushing back after this encounter and will certainly not be recommending the bell again Your response said it all Kerry it id so disappointing, you don’t get it from the customer perspective, you still come across as defensive, and not taking on board my feedback Your response: “I do not disagree as we make mistakes like any other business. We needed a 1 night stay at short notice to visit family. We’re a couple and our 2 year old. Having been apprehensive about suitability and noise, we couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised. The staff had specifically allocated us a room with a bath for our daughter. The food was excellent (buffalo for me on the exotic meat menu, sea bass for my partner, brilliant kids menu for my daughter). Even though our room backed on to the garden which was busy on a warm summer evening, the noise didn’t carry. The following morning a delicious full English breakfast was served. Staff were friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to be helpful. The village itself is beautiful and there is a great playground for kids up the road. If you’re stuck for somewhere to stay when visiting the area, I couldn’t fault the Bell.

We tended to visit here most months pre lockdown, this was our first visit since opened up as we came for a midweek night out.In the past the menu had been supplemented by an extensive range of “specials”, whilst at present this is not the case it was nice to see a new menu which retained some of our favourites and a few new dishes. There was plenty of choice and as ever we found the food well cooked of a good quality in ingredients and a large plate full of food. In fact nothing to complain about. Although where my wife put her chocolate brownie I have no idea, but the large helping was demolished. Service was good and friendly, although the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy, the team made a point of regularly ensuring all was well. Covid rules were strictly adhered to.As we didn’t drink wine the only thing I would like to see is a wider selection of ales on offer, albeit what they do serve is well looked after.A very enjoyable evening.

We were staying locally for 3 nights in Eckington and after looking at a few different offerings for dinner, we settled with the Bell and how glad we were! We had an early evening booking and were greeted by a very friendly lady who showed us to our table, as It was a beautiful summers evening, we were pleased to be seated next to the open patio doors leading out to the lovely garden. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, modern and airy but with a rustic feel, social distancing has been well managed here without losing any of the warmth/cosy charm of the place. Our server Jill, did a fantastic job throughout the evening, she was attentive but not intrusive and every visit to our table was met with a smile. As the evening went on, the place filled up, quite surprisingly for a Tuesday and she literally worked her socks off, total credit where it's due. We both ordered a starter, I had the Smoked Salmon and Crayfish salad and my Husband had the mushroom pakora, when they arrived we couldn't believe how generous the portions were, although both were really tasty they were actually far too big and I ended up leaving quite a bit of mine because i didn't want to fill myself up too much. We both had the slow braised beef rib which was to die for, it's always been one of my favourite meals and it didn't disappoint at all, absolutely divine and i'd highly recommend that dish to all. Only problem was, we could barely move afterwards because we were so full, so pudding was an absolute no go unfortunately. We headed out into the garden to finish our drinks which was lovely given it was such a warm evening, they have little coloured Jars on the tables filled with fairy lights, giving the place a really special feel. We had a fabulous evening at The Bell and would definitely return, but I would suggest they decrease their portion sizes a tad as I don't think I could manage 2 courses again, which would be a shame seeing as their food is so so good!

'Certainly not you average pub grub'- I'd be evoked to agree; it's worse.Arrived for lunch for two and was promptly asked to sign in for the government track and trace. Following this we were seated at a table near the door and both given a menu. We then ordered a couple of drinks and opted for The Bell Platter (to share), monkfish scampi and The Bell Burger to follow. The starter arrived quickly but however was nothing to shout about; deep-fried onion rings, chicken, mozzarella cheese sticks, mushrooms and stodgy garlic bread- all of which was lukewarm. To add to this, wasn't given any side plates to eat it.The mains then arrived and were no more inspiring. The burger beef didn't have any taste and was rather like panfried mince meat and when cut with a knife didn't seam to be bound like one would expect from a burger, just rather disintegrated on the board all served on a soggy untoasted bun. The chips with both meals weren't crispy and were rather like the one served at a fish and chip shop.At no point during our meal were we food checked and at the end of the meal plates with rather a lot of food left were taken away and we were simply asked if we had room for pudding? To which we unsurprisingly said no.Following the plates being cleared, we caught the waitresses eye and asked for the bill. After about 10 minuets we accepted that the bill wasn't going to be brought to us and simply asked for it at the bar. We paid the bill and both left rather disappointed.

The corvid lockdown may have seen many pub restaurants struggle but The Bell has rebounded stronger than ever. They are lucky that the restaurant has always been spacious which lends itself well to the social distancing policy so the dining experience is quite relaxed. The only downside to the corvid regulations is the constant need to be wiping down the tables with sanitiser after every visit. This seems to react with the table lacquer and leave then feeling somewhat sticky. Not a good feeling in a restaurant but at least it’s for the right reasons. The menu was quite wide ranging despite the chef, Chris Broughton, explaining how they have had to reduce it since lockdown. Not just wide ranging but it included a few surprises too. Exotic meats feature regularly on the menu and last night it was in the form of camel curry or zebra steaks cooked either by you at the table on a hot rock or by the chef in the kitchen. The appetisers also included a rarity, crayfish which formed a cocktail with smoked salmon and Mary Rose sauce. I had to have this having only recently acquired a taste for the crustacean when I came across one on the banks of our stream. Signal crayfish are the grey squirrels of the crustacean world, imported from North America for farming here but escaped and like their furry countrymen, have spread a disease that has almost wiped out our smaller native crayfish. This one had to go so I cooked it as I was keen to try it. Crayfish, despite their size, produce very little meat but it was enough to let me know how tasty they are. Thankfully this starter came with plenty of crayfish tails which were equally as delicious as the one I caught. For the main course I chose the slow cooked beef short ribs and Paul, my husband, went for the zebra cooked medium rare by the chef with dauphinoise potatoes and selection of veg. When it came out it comprised of two good size, very lean steaks. I tried it, it was really good, tender and tasted similar to venison but with the texture of beef steak. My short ribs were also very good. So tender they almost disintegrated on the fork. They came is a beautifully rich gravy too. All really very good. Then the pudding menus arrived and with a choice of 5 desserts plus a selection of sorbets, ice cream and cheeses there was something for everyone. I was torn between the St Clement creme brûlée with homemade shortbread, something I know Chris does veery well, and the molten chocolate truffle cake with ice cream. Paul was torn between the apple, rhubarb and ginger crumble and the home-made cherry cheesecake. In the end Paul had the cheesecake and I had the chocolate cake. The cheesecake was really light and fresh and the chocolate cake too, was so light that despite the richness of the chocolate it didn’t feel at all heavy going as some chocolate desserts can be. Service, while we were there was snappy despite the restaurant being almost full but there were plenty of staff on hand. Everyone was really polite and welcoming and genuinely seemed happy to be working there. If you are planning to eat there I would recommend you book well in advance, we made our booking two weeks prior to going but certainly don’t leave it less than a week. I think the Bell will have a really long and successful future or at least while they keep their chef and we look forward to eating there again soon.

Went for family Sunday lunch to celebrate wedding anniversary. It was quiet when we arrived but busied up later on. Dining room was very clean with hand sanitiser on arrival and plenty of space between tables.Food was excellent. I had chicken pakora for starter, small but tasty, followed by swordfish for main which was very good. My wife had a steak which was excellent! Had gooey chocolate thing for pud which was messy but delicious.Staff very attentive and helpful all the way through, including server (Carly) and lady I assumed was owner/manager. All keen to make sure we were well looked after and enjoyed our meal.Price was reasonable, 3 courses for about £120 for family of four including wine. Would definitely recommend! Will be back...

We had two excellent meals here during a long weekend and were impressed with both the food - including some beautifully cooked lamb shank that would have justified twice the price at a fancy restaurant - and the warm, welcoming atmosphere despite all the Covid precautions (that they clearly take v seriously). Really a quality place that deserves the support of locals and returning tourists alike!

I don’t know if it’s simply because I’ve been locked-down for 100+ days - but when you’re enjoying a perfectly cooked and presented fillet steak (pub style!), and thinking “this is what heaven must feed you” - I have to say this place never fails to exceed my expectations. Welcoming, great atmosphere, awesome food, attentive service and great value. I can’t wait for my next visit!

First time out since lockdown. The restaurant was very spacious, had a lovely atmosphere and the owners have worked very hard implementing excellent safety measures whilst still being able enjoy your dining experience. The staff were very friendly and I never felt rushed. The food was absolutely outstanding, really tasty and good portion size. An overall faultless dining experience out and I would thoroughly recommend.

Although it was a sad event the staff were very friendly and polite. Nothing was too much bother. There was plenty of choice on the buffet and lots of tea or coffee if required. Excellent venue.

I have eaten at the Bell twice recently, and both times, quite by chance, arrived at an awkward time. The first time was just as a large furneral wake (nothing to do with me) was being catered for, and the second time, my fellow lunchers were late leaving Shrewsbury so we only arrived a few minutes before two o'clock (last lunch orders). On both occasions we were treated as calmly and efficiently as if we were the only people there and had hours to spare. Service was rapid and efficient, and above all friendly and personal. The food was delicious too!

The restaurant is a large place and was full of groups, including ours, We had the Christmas Menu but the quality was poor and quantities small. 4 sprouts, soggy cabbage, 3 small roast potatoes and a couple of slices of turkey. The ultimate issue I had was the shop bought mince pies still in their foil cups which were offered at the end and following the one square inch of plum pudding.Upside was the staff and service which was very good considering they must have been feeding a hundred people.

We found this little gem on Trip Advisor and it did not disappoint - it is a little off the beaten track and getting there early is advised as the parking it quite tight.... I phoned to book on the day for a table of 6 and it was a good call. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and were very attentive without being too much so. The pub is decorated to a very high standard with a lovely open fire as a focal point. Clearly very popular place as it was pretty full by 12 45 on a Sunday. The food was amazing and plenty of it too even the children's portions were very generous. 3 of us had the Chicken Tikka Burger - fabulous!. Thank you to the team for making us welcome, shame we don't live closer as it really is worth a visit.

When we arrived we put our first round of drinks on a tab because we were going to have a meal. Sadly this was a mistake because it meant we didn’t know that a large glass of red wine was £7.25 and large glass of white £6.55. The bill for 4 people (3 of whom had 4 drinks, and the other 2 drinks), 4 starters (delicious), 4 mains and two afters came to £182! Sorry The Bell, we won’t be returning at these prices.

My husband and I went there for the first time last Saturday. The pub/restaurant has a lovely airy feeling without lacking in character. Although there are lots of hard surfaces there are sufficient soft furnishings to prevent noise levels from people taking becoming too much as in many modern restaurants. Seating was very comfortable and there was plenty of space around the tables so you didn't feel you were having to ask someone to move their chair so you could get in and out. staff were very welcoming and we didn't have to wait long to be served. There was a fairly standard but wide choice of dishes in the main menu with some interesting additions but there was also a very good selection on the special board to compliment this. I had the breaded goat's cheese with red onion jam from the specials menu and my husband had the Gruyere goujons from the main menu. Both were very tasty although my red onion jam was forgotten so I had to remind the waiter to get me some. It was refreshing not to have beetroot with the goats' cheese dish as love it or loath it, I'm in the latter camp. for our mains we both ordered the duck breast with stir fried cashews & plums. This was done to perfection with the meat just pink inside. Very tasty, it didn't need anything with it. For pudding my husband went for the crumble off of the main menu with custard and I opted for the cheesecake which was nutella and honeycomb. I asked for pouring cream instead of chantilly cream which was no problem. I couldn't detect the honeycomb but this cheesecake was beautifully light. We left the restaurant nicely full and very happy.

New chef has resulted in dropping the fantastic, value for money, set-price lunch. Very good choice on the lunch menu, but desserts are rather pricey. I had caramel cheesecake - not firm like normal cheesecakes. More like Angel Delight. I have a sweet tooth, but this almost beat me.

Good food and friendly good service sat in the garden. Lots of choice of food, nice range of drinks. Nice to see a traditional bar area away from the eating area of those who want a drink in a more traditional pub environment. Reasonably priced.

Tables were unclean & sticky, glassware was dusty & dirty. There was NO atmosphere, NO music & NO heating. Food was OK, nothing great but acceptable. I wouldn't visit again.
