We visit The Flavell for coffee and cake quite often, and are always happy with the service and food. On this particular day we had lunch, soup which was a bit thin and bread, but quite nice. While I was drinking a coffee after my lunch, I looked towards the preparing area and to my surprise watched one of the ladies making a sandwich, she picked up the filling with her bare hands plus the salad and put it together between the slices of bread. While you might do this at home, I would have thought preparing food for customers would necessitate wearing some sort of hand covering. This has put me off eating sandwiches at the Flavel, and will stick to coffee and cake in future. At least the cakes are served from their display with tongs.

Great little cafe inside the Arts Centre. Easy basic but tasty menu. Soup was a really good sized portion, with fresh bread. Sandwich was lovely.... chunky bread, proper ham, wedge of cheese and served with a dressed salad and coleslaw. Very clean, friendly staff and evidently supported by locals.

Exploring Dartmouth on a rainy day lead me to stopping at the Flavel cafe, for a break from the weather and some lunch. I'm glad I did because the food and drink I had were really nice. They make a superb hot chocolate, and the ham and cheddar sandwich they prepared was delicious and really fresh. I did have to wait about 10 minutes as I'd walked in before their next batch of ham was due from the butchers, but that's just awkward timing on my part. If you're around the jetty area of Dartmouth and want a cosy place to eat, I recommend the Flavel cafe. Great food and drink on offer, very helpful and friendly staff there, and a good selection of cakes on the counter (the most important thing!). I would definitely visit again next time I make the trip to Dartmouth.

We arrived in Dartmouth from a steam/ferry trip from Paignton. after walking through the Avenue gardens and admiring the Newcomen engine we spotted the theatre and delightful cafe. We had the cottage pie whilst our grandson had childs sandwiches which was enjoyed. All immaculately clean, tastefully served, not too long to wait and excellent value for the price paid,

The Flavel's Café is a surprisingly good little addition to Dartmouth's excellent collection of eateries. Friendly staff, and in particular, excellent home-cooked food and baked goods! We can highly recommend the cheese scones!

What a fantastic evening! I went to the film feasts event and had a supreme 3 course meal before the film. So well thought out, so tastefully presented, and such a delicious feast. There was also a brilliant atmosphere. Thank you. Will definitely be back for the next one.

Headed there during the Dartmouth music festival and enjoyed a delicious prawn cocktail followed by carrot cake, which was one of the best I have ever had! Great venue right in the heart of town and lovely staff making us feel very welcome.

Popped into the newly reopened café, just for a coffee, latte and an americano, both very tasty and served in pretty china. The whole place looks really good and the staff are really friendly. We will certainly be going back to try their lunch offerings...

The refurbishment of The Flavel Cafe has brightened the place up. Now such a welcoming place to go. Great tasting coffee and the Mushroom and Rosemary soup was delicious. Also nice to think that all the takings go to help run The Flavel

SADLY I FOUND A HAIR IN MY CHOCOLATE BROWNIE. TOLD THE LADY IN THE CAFE WHO APOLOGISED AND SHRUGGED, BUT DIDN'T OFFER A REFUND OR A DIFFERENT PIECE OF CAKE. WON'T BOTHER TO EAT THERE AGAIN AS INCIDENT MADE FEEL SLIGHTLY NAUSEOUS.

What a delightful place to go for breakfast , we wandered in mainly because everywhere else didn’t open until 10am , We were very warmly welcomed , unfortunately I didn’t get the ladies name who looked after us , but she was friendly. Quirky nothing was to much trouble and the full English was freshly cooked ( we were told that because the sausages were freshly cooked there would be a wait ) Delicious local ingredients, the bubble and squeak was amazing . Wonderful coffee

3 of us wanted a light impromptu lunch today. The food was nice . The welcome was non existent verging on hostile and any questions to the waitress were answered almost with disdain. This made for a horrible atmosphere and I couldn’t wait to leave . A shame as I remembered it as a lovely cafe .
