A must visit according to the CAMRA good beer guide. We decided to eat here on the first night of our stay in town, and was not disappointed in the food.

What can I say, absolutely amazing!! Good beer , one happy husband I had the fish and chips served with a delightful salad , fabulous as I dislike the ubiquitous mushy peas!! Cooked to perfection My husband had the rib eye steak cooked exactly to his preference, served with homemade peppercorn sauce, chips and salad Although we were full, we couldn't resist the cheese board option on the desert menu, we shared and again nothing to disappoint, five delicious cheeses with artisan crackers, spreadable butter and chutney. Highly recommend Staff and locals welcoming !!!

So glad we found this gem of a pub. We were looking for somewhere to have Sunday lunch during a hastily arranged last minute visit to Royal Wootton Bassett. The reviews looked favourable and after calling them the day before our visit they had a table available which we snapped up. On site parking wasn't available but parking at the nearby Sainsbury's pay & display car park was just 70p all day, No brainer!! Upon arrival we found the thatched roof pub very charming and we received a warm welcome from bar staff. We were swiftly served drinks and shown to our table in a quiet room at the back of the pub On offer at the bar was a fantastic choice of real ales which pleased hubby. Their delicious dessert menu also went down well with my son. The main event 'The Sunday Roast' didn't disappoint and was absolutely lush!! Roast Beef, Shoulder of lamb, Roast Chicken and Pork to choose from. We opted for the Beef and the Lamb and were impressed at the portion sizes. Accompanied with roasties, a homemade yorkie, parsnips, fresh (not frozen) vegetables and delicious gravy we thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. Naturally we felt obliged to test out the desserts too, which also hit the mark. Would definitely recommend The Five Bells for Sunday lunch and wouldn't hesitate to return again when we are next in the area. Thank you for your hospitality!!

Recommended by others so we visited. It was quite busy but the atmosphere was nice. Most people were locals so there's plenty of parking for non locals. They gave us the wrong beer which didn't taste good. The coke was also watered down from the tap. The burgers were brilliant though. They have gas cannisters for the outdoor heaters so you could sit outside at night, where others can eat, smoke, bring their pets. Indoors section was also nice. Friendly staff.

Great Sunday lunch selection. Lovely beers that were well kept. It's just a great pub with good food. Thursday night, five person, dinner update two years later: Excellent varied pub food menu. Which was well served and very tasty. Eight hand pumps serving a cider and seven ales. Plus, twelve pressurised pumps for beers, lagers, and ciders. An excellent drink selection overall, even before the wines and spirits. Is this RWB's best kept secret pub?

Friendly traditional pub with a nice atmosphere, open fire and ever changing selection of decent beers, so definitely the choice in Bassett if you like a real ale. I've never had a bad pint here. It's probably the town's most popular pub, but also quite small, so it can get very busy some evenings and it can be a struggle to find a seat, but that's for a good reason! Pub was very busy when we arrived without booking, Becci, said if we could wait a little while she would find us a table. What a great pub restaurant. A fine selection of drinks on draft, far more than you'd find in most places. A small but very tasty menu with home cooking front and centre. We had ham egg and chips, which doesn't sound exciting but I'm still talking about how good it was! And it has a great atmosphere. It's cosy, friendly and run by good people. Normal chippy was closed so tried this place and let's say I will never go back. Ordered two small cod one large battered sausage and a large chips, once home no large sausage but two small but my good they were like rock I couldn't even stick a fork in them I'd guess they had been hanging around for hours couldn't eat them, the fish was undercooked and as for a large chips well let's just say for 4.60 you would expect large but it was barely enough for two people. Twenty four pound sixty for absolute rubbish I would have taken it back but live to far and they would have been closed by the time we got there.

Some classic British dishes on the menu, helpful service, and the bar (which is associated with the hotel) has plenty of beers, lagers and wine. Lots of room between the 4 to 5 tables in the main dining area, although I suspect you could eat at tables by the bar. Meanwhile, you’re in a very old stylist building within the Salisbury city centre.
