Today around 7:15pm we purchased two portions of chips. The photo shows the state of the chips we received. They were overcooked, greasy but not the nice fresh taste instead tasted like they were done in bad oil. They were tasteless, no salt and slightly off tasting vinegar. Do they give the better quality chips to the customers that order fish? Are we not given good quality chips when we just order chips? I’ve never left a review before but this time I felt it was necessary.

So today I visited the fisherman’s net, and I must say the food was exceptional, they treated me with respect and love, the food was good and the whole atmosphere was amazing I really enjoyed my time here and would recommend to people in the area . The main thing I liked was that you can sit outside while enjoying their food.

Epic portion sizes, cod was a little greasy but overall massive. Kids meals were massive but only 4 chicken nuggets on the nugget meal. Lovely addition of the drinks as well. There was a bit of a wait but everything was freshly prepared so cannot complain. Would definitely go back to again.

After a few dodgy meals way back when then this place was first taken over - I now think the fish you get here is amazing! I go for the cod, and it is always of a generous size, freshly cooked, moist and a crispy batter. Excellent!

We are regulars here but after tonight's awful fish and chips, never again! Fish so bad it got thrown away. Chips tasted like they had been cooked in stale oil. Complete waste of money!

Loved it! I'm always trying to narrow down the best fishy chippy shop and this one is definitely up there. The batter is lovely on the fish. Its not overcooked or too greasy. I loved the savaloy. So many places get them wrong. It was sublime. Slightly crunchy yet still moist and juicy! Can't wait for my next fish Friday I might have to make it fish Thursday! Parking outside had been easy each time too.

Battered sausage had the worse batter ever, all soggy and rubbery, they tasted strange and the chips also had the same taste and smell. I noticed when I was in there the old burnt oil smell, I think they are trying to make the oil last a lot longer than it should! One sausage and chips binned as not edible and very disappointed. I will stick to Knaphill fish bar which is 100 x better.

The service was very friendly and the wait not to long but felt the food could be better. The chips were a bit dry and the spring roll wasn't the best I have had. But it did the job and filled us up.

When this place first had a change of ownership the fish and chips were absolutely superb and a delight to eat but over the last few months they have gone from being some of the best around to mediocre at best and cannot understand what is going on. Having been disappointed on a previous visit and in the hope things have gone back to the way they were I decided to give them another go but wish I had not bothered. The fish was not as fresh as it could be and the chips had obviously been waiting around for a long time and tasted like it so it was not a great experience and did not enjoy my meal at all. I will now be searching for another local chippy as I will not be returning here again despite the fact I said that after my last disappointing visit and mean it this time.

The service last Tuesday was impeccable. I walk in. the scent of flourishing roses filled my moist nostrils. the lovely chap working out the front, was very, very charming 😋. I ordered my food and was told it would be 5 Mins so I waited. I was on the phone to my lovely, lovely, lovely 😏 wife. something about her voice.... anyways that's not the point. two mins go bye and I hear the young gent call me. my food is done! now I was pleasantly surprised however it did interrupt my call. not to worry, I had a delectable burger awaiting my succulent mouth. I open my box to see my burger and chips begging me to take a bite. 😋 nom. I take my first bite. the juices overflow and drip like a waterfall. delicious! the chips are practically on their knees begging me to eat them so I take a gob full. holy mother of Mary. they were THE BEST chips I have ever, EVER put in my mouth, in fact I would go as far as to say that they were the best thing that have ever been in my mouth, and I have put a LOT of stuff in there! (get your mid out the gutter, naughty 😉). the taste of the fresh chips and the moist, moist burger led me to heaven. the young man asks if I'm ok to which I reply no. he stutters and pauses. I continue... I'm better than ok, I'm brilliant, I'm amazing, I'm excellent, I feel the best I have in the past 65 years! the young man stood in awe as I left the establishment, best £8 I ever spent! as I left the smell of the roses left my noise nostrils and life returns back to normal, apart from I now have a warm fuzzy feeling inside... and, I go home. anyway to get to the point, 10/10 would come again.

Best fish and chips in New Haw worth a visit and always have my only favourite fish, rock salmon.

Since this changed hands it’s not the same food has gone down hill and check your order before you leave because they forget to put the food in the bag

Food was delivered really quickly, the portions were huge and the food was delicious. Highly recommended.

This was by far and away my favourite fish and chip shop but I went in this evening to pick up some cod and chips and they were very disappointing and not a patch on their usual high quality. The chips were from very poor quality potatoes and had lots of black marks in them and not at all pleasant, the fish was okay but extremely oily as were the chips and hope they are not trying to cut back on standards as up until this evening they were always so good. I will give them another try in the hope it was an off day but if it is the same next time I will not be going back again.

After having Prom cancelled for our SEN teenagers we decided to host our own, after being recommended we asked if The Fisherman's Net could do us an order for 39 people. They did not disappoint, it was ready when I arrived to collect it, was hot and the portion size was huge, they also gave us some condiments for free and offered Gluten Free Fish. Everyone at the prom enjoyed their dinner. Thankyou.

Scampi tasted funny. So long to wait to be disappointed. Asked for curry gravey and got plan. You say I jumped the queue no it was my turn. You did not taste the scampi. You say I changed my mind was not correct. I was there to visit my friend

First time using Fisherman's Net after reading the reviews I thought I'd try for myself the chips were lovely bit disappointed that the fish was very greasy and the batter was quite thin.

Went in there the other day, you could taste the vegetable oil in the chips as they we're soggy, and the battered sausage tasted terrible.. it's such a shame as I remember this place being the dog balls and place to go! Won't be going back.

Called in here on Friday evening for a cod and haddock with chips and was absolutely staggered at the size of the queue outside the door and a clear indication how much this place has improved since the new owners took over and word has spread. Both the cod and the haddock were superb and probably some of the best fish and chips we have ever eaten and generous portions too. I intend to go here at least once a week as the fish and chips are just too good to resist.

The chips were so sub-par I didn't finish them. Really really soggy, not even a hint that they had ever been crisp despite being quite a dark colour. Possibly not the right kind of potato?

Since the place was taken over by new owners I have been a frequent visitor and called in here again last night for a takeaway and always pleased with the portion sizes and quality of the food, the counter team are always so nice and friendly and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door. I have waited a good many years to get a fish and chip shop this good so close to home and this place was well worth the wait, cannot fault it.

This place was rubbish and so bad I gave up going here but thank god for the new owners buying the place and transforming it. I called in last night to try it and ordered a large cod and chips and have to say the cod was huge and also a generous portion of chips, the quality was excellent and have to admit I was pretty stuffed when I had finished it all. Will be going back again and would definitely recommend this place for the quality of the food and the very friendly service of the new owner and his team, such a welcome change.

Had fish and chips from this place this evening. Not impressed. Dry, dry, dry. It's been taken over recently and standards seem to have gone down.

Our 1st time tonight of having fish/ chips since being taken over. Chips like rubber and fish was swimming in grease. ( Bad experience unfortunately)

Had haddock and chips from here tonight, and it was the first time of using this chip shop. All the family enjoyed it, batter was nice and crispy, and not at all greasy aswell as the chips. I believe this has been taken over by new owners, very impressed with our first order. We will definitely return.

They advertise that they are open but you have to pre order by telephone which is a good idea. The problem is they pick up the phone and put it down again. We were regulars but have now given up as they are either unable to cope or too lazy to answer.

Seriously small portions.. Really need to up there sizes. I've ordered x large cod and every time it's barely a small. Shame because the quality isn't bad at all!

I have been using Fisherman's Net for about six years and have had some of the best fish and chips ever. Porting sizes are good and the staff are very friendly. Well done to all and thank you. Ray.

I have used this chippy for a long time but it has steadily gone downhill, The large cod is minute and the large chips are barely enough for one. When chips are the cheapest part of the meal why are they so mean with them? There are far better chippys in the area and I will be using them in future.

This food in this place is very hit and miss but the staff are always very nice and thought I would give it one last try and called in for some fish and chips but wish I had not bothered as when I got home and unwrapped them it was such a disappointment.The fish must have been sitting there for god knows how long keeping warm as the batter was coming apart like stretching a piece of rubber and the fish inside so dry it was just inedible. As for the chips they were very undercooked and more akin to a soggy sponge dipped in oil, they were just so awful they were dumped in the bin.Never again even if they were giving them away.

Chaotic mess when busy. I understand you are trying to get orders out but at least acknowdge that people as they come in. A "Hello, I will take your order in two minutes " goes a long way.

Went here for fish and chips last night and thought the chips to be very good and the fish was also nice although batter was not as crispy as I would have liked, I only have one real issue here and it was the size of the fish, if you normally have a small cod make sure you order a large as the size of the large ones are the size of the small in all the other chippies I have been in, my wife had the medium cod and I have seen bigger goldfish so wish I had got her a large cod as well. Staff were very friendly and the service was good, size of the fish is my only complaint.
