What a find, tucked away in a small side street on the Barbican. Met up with friends for lunch, fairly busy. Very selection of meals to choose from. Friendly helpful staff. Ordered a seafood platter to share, sausage and mash and a crab pasta, everything delicious, the platter was very large with a good selection of seafood, the crab pasta was slightly spicy, very tasty. No room for dessert unfortunately. Highly recommended.

The ambience is really a dream. You can spend hours here and feel very comfortable. The service was excellent and we were pleased with the friendliness of the nice lady. The mussels could have been a little spicier, as could the side dishes for the steak pie. The meat, however, was to die for.

Fantastic food and great service at The Fishermans again. Highly recommended. They went out of their way for all of us celebrating 2 birthdays and were more than willing to cook some vegan sausages for one of our party. The food was delicious as ever. Me and my partner have been going out and eating at all the places in Plymouth, every Wednesday, including some of the most expensive places. THIS PLACE IS A GEM! The food was incredible, and the mushroom starter left us speechless. The service was divine, and nothing was too much. Water was served in a fish gurgle jug, in which ive never come across before, the staff kindly served my wine in the jug ( my request ) everyone was so friendly and the whole experience was delightful! We will be back with family, friends, and us! It's such a lovely place and the food is amazing . I must add.. the womans toilets are the most glorious toilets I've ever entered and I'm in love with them!

Visited at lunchtime for post wedding lunch get together for my brother and sister in law, the graze/sharing platters were absolutely fabulous as were all the staff, they made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble, the vast selection of different spirits was incredible for a smaller bar, certainly put the chain ones to shame. Location is fantastic and as the weather was so nice we were able to sit out and look at the harbour in the most tranquil of places, if you visit Plymouth please make the effort to visit them as you won’t be disappointed and would definitely suggest you book before hand to ensure you can get a table, Will definitely visit again when in the area

Came here with friends. Everyone had a roast dinner. There was a choice of turkey, beef, lamb or gammon. I chose lamb. It was served as very fine slices. Sides of (a very cheesy) cauliflower cheese & creamed leeks was optional. They were generous with the portion sizes and they do homemade yorkshire puddings. You definitely won't leave hungry! There was a variety of desserts. The warm sticky toffee pudding was 'close your eyes' good. The service was good and not too long a wait. The only thing that would have been nice would be to have the option to have a mixed meat plate rather than having to stick to one choice (with the option to add on 1 more at additional cost) but not a deal breaker. The prices were reasonable overall. They are also welcoming to pets and children. They also have a baby change facility. If you're just there for drinks they have a nice variety of beer, real ale & ciders along with the usual bottled hardcore stuff. They also have a nice quirk of sweet dispensers if youre in the mood for some jelly beans or mini chocolate eggs. They also have a great decor but I won't spoil the suprise with pictures of that, but you must see it for yourself :) I would recommend this place and hope to be back at some point. Thank you.

From the initial phone call to reserve a table to the goodbyes , everything was excellent . Such a prettily decorated pub, comfy seating , friendly professional helpful staff and a good menu choice . Four of us met for lunch , and we all had different food choices, but all agreed that the quality, quantity and presentation of the food was indeed, excellent . As friends we had plenty of time to catch up and enjoy a very leisurely lunch with no pressure at all to leave . The lemon brioche pudding is highly recommended ! We also enjoyed meeting Sadie , who kept a watchful eye on all . Would we go back again ? Most certainly.

The team were incredible and kept up with every need even though there was 12 of us on a table. The roast meats choice was great and we had an option of four meats. Every vegetable was fresh and each meal had a massive home made Yorkshire. The meal didn’t stop there, a massive menu of desserts was presented and they were equally as fabulous! Just returned back to our holiday home following the most wonderful evening experience at The Fisherman’s Arms, Plymouth. Greeted by the delightful Jemma, (with a J), whose welcome was warm, friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately we had not booked but the helpful Jemma, and fellow host Paul, found us an intimate table, on an upper level in the Pub, which was just perfect. Having endured a previous nights disappointing meal at another Plymouth Pub, near the Hoe, we were desperate for decent fayre on this our last night in Ocean City and boy oh boy, we were in for a treat. Thoughout the, (extremely busy), Friday evening, Jemma never stopped serving her customers and was always cheerful and helpful. Paul was on hand to ensure we were looked after and regularly checked up on us. Accompanied with our two pooches, the Fishermans Arms was famous for its four legged hospitality and sure enough there were doggy portions on the extensive menu to satisfy all. We ordered Hake and a Goats Cheese Salad, both beautifully presented, served swiftly and thoroughly enjoyable. I’d love to say that the food was the highlight of the evening…and it was…but Jemma & Paul were outstanding in their friendliness and efficiency. Our next visit to this fine city will most definitely include a visit…or two…or three, to this amazing Pub/Restaurant, safe in the knowledge we will receive the most warmest of welcome and the finest food. Thank you Jemma, Paul and to landlady, Donna for having these lovely staff members in your fine establishment. Booking essential especially on weekends, it’s SO popular especially with the locals, which speaks volumes.

We came for lunch on a weekday on spec not having booked anywhere. We strolled up from what felt like the most expensive parking company ever. No connection with the Fisherman’s Arms. The pub had a friendly feel, very busy, and with at least one big party possibly a family event. The helpful and attentive staff member who greeted us wanted us that the chef was working hard but we might have to wait an hour but she said she’d keep an eye out for us. We were sat up the top away from the main eating zone. After about twenty minutes she offered to move us down but we were OK and said that we were happy to make do with fish and chips and she accepted that order. Meanwhile quite a lot of people were arriving and some being told that they would not be reached before the kitchen shut at three. Several just left but we saw others pragmatically ordering their pints and were offered scotch eggs and other stuff across the bar. Our meal came sooner than we’d feared. It was not like the fish was straight off the quay and an oblong chunk rather like that in frozen packs but it was properly cooked in acceptable batter with good chips etc. It was nothing special but more than good enough and the lunch we needed. This is a hospitable pub and serving its customers well. If you’re thinking of coming in, be warned of busy times.
