Fabulous pub, as a Plymothian I completely forgot this pub existed. Went in recently with my wife, my 1st visit for over 40 years. Can’t believe it’s been so long, great selection of beers, a proper pub. A must visit for any drinker looking for an authentic English pub. Staff very helpful and friendly too. Plus the pub cat paid us a visit!

Our third visit, ( in three years), to this ‘Fabulously Amazing’ Pub Restaurant, nestled in a quiet street, in between the famous Plymouth Hoe and Barbican. Discovered this gem of a place by it’s 5 star reputation on our first annual visit to Plymouth in 2022. The food and service we enjoyed then is as good, if not better in 2025, despite its popularity and necessity to book a table seven nights a week. We choose the Fisherman’s Arms during every visit to Plymouth and have yet to find a better place to enjoy a dinner and a pint. Fortunately I booked this reservation weeks in advance to be sure of a table, so do take note of this should you wish to visit Plymouth’s best Pub/Restaurant. Once again, we were welcomed with a friendly greeting by Fergus, who between him and Aaron, looked after us throughout the evening. Service was efficient, faultless and superb. The food, as before, was both plentiful, hot, quality and all mains/sides served at the same time, something other eateries seem to fail to do so. As we each enjoyed our dinner, the place was filling up quickly. Fergus and Aaron kept upbeat, with a cool head, satisfying every diners needs. They both deserve special praise together with the chef who prepared our amazing dinner consisting of the traditional fish/chips, monkfish scampi and a chicken & veg dinner for our two four legged companions, who, like us, cleared their bowls/plates. Another very successful and enjoyable evening at the absolute best dining establishment in Plymouth bar none. Thank you Fergus and Aaron AND everyone at the Fisherman’s Arms, … Donna will be incredibly proud of you all as are we.

Beautiful little pub. Great decor and warm atmosphere. Staff friendly and professional. Food was really tasty...freshly cooked and presented. We had rib eye steak and the fish gumbo. Not cheap but good quality. I had no rice with gumbo they gave me alittle more. Steak came with peppercorn sauce as standard. Altogether with 1 large wine and 2 Old fashioned....bill was 74.00. I was cheeky and asked for am empty rum bottle off display which the gladly gave me. A great experience all round and definitely recommend 👌

Stumbled across this place whilst away on business. It was just around the corner from my accommodation so thought I’d try it, and so glad I did! Nice warm welcome and lovely inside I took my seat at a table. I ordered the Thai green curry and it was fantastic. A couple of beers and a nightcap followed and headed back very content. Lovely team there and couldn’t do enough for you. I will definitely head for there if I return.

We have passed the Sign many times on our trips to plymouth. Last week we went there for the first time, myself and my partner. We also had our very well-behaved dog with us, and when we arrived they only had one table left. I can understand why that was , the food was excellent. We don't eat meat and only eat fish and vegetarian food. Well , they were so much to choose from not only from the menu , but the specials on that day.. It's such a cosy little pub and great atmosphere. The staff amazingly friendly and even though they were busy, had time.Just to talk and tell you about the food. It has now become one of our favourite places to visit when we are in plymouth. Look forward to visiting again.Thank you guys , keep it up.

Absolutely loved this pub, everything was perfect. We were a family group of 7 and had an oval shaped table which I thought was unusual but only in the fact that I don't think enough establishments offer this, it's the perfect set up for a large group to all interact over a meal. The menu is very good and probably doesn't do itself justice from pre-reading on their website. Everything was fresh and delicious and perfectly cooked, very good portion sizes - just right. The drinks/wine list is varied, I had a Bloody Mary which wasn't on the menu (it was on point) and a glass of wine. Others had Guinness, beer and soft drinks, all served in very nice 'fancy' glasses. The service was brilliant, it felt very relaxed and professional, a rare mix to get right. Lastly the bill, such amazing value, we will be back! The country pub in an ocean city is their slogan which is very apt for this hidden gem.

Wow. 100% worth the wait! Admittedly we were alittle frustrated at the wait for food from the time of ordering (close to an hour wait) but it was most definitely worth it. Definitely cooked fresh and most certainly not from a packet of any kind. 10/10 to the chef, staff and owner! P.s - Steak & Ale Pie is the star of the menu for me!

A pub, the oldest in Plymouth apparently, now turned over almost exclusively to dining so not really a pub at all. Which is a shame. Popular and invariably busy the food is good, not great or even noteworthy but good and the service is friendly and relatively good if it's not too busy which it often is.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a delightful hidden gem of a pub, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment we stepped through the door, we were enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The pub's cozy ambiance, with its charming décor and subtle lighting, set the perfect mood for a relaxed evening. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the phenomenal food. Every dish we ordered was served hot and bursting with flavor, clearly crafted with care and attention to detail. It’s rare to find a place where every bite feels like a treat, but this pub delivered on all fronts. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, going out of their way to ensure we had a memorable experience. A special shout-out to Donna, who made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The Fishermans Arms is a wonderful pub. It has loads of character and atmosphere. It is dog/cat friendly. It is slightly hidden but just a minutes walk from the main Barbican area. The food served is good and reasonably priced. I recently had the xmas menu. The garlic mushrooms were stunning. The gammon was tasty and huge. Only downside was the thick cut chips not as crispy as i would have liked but very minor point. For those who like whisky there is a large selection to choose from. Three ales plus lager etc. Well worth a visit.

Our visit to Plymouth would not be complete without a trip to The Fishermans Arms, two previous visits in October 2021 and September 2023 were reviewed with high praise. Once again we were warmly greeted and were shown to our table, our request to move to another table was accommodated without issue. It would have been very easy to go for previously selected options but on this occasion the 'Specials' looked too good to ignore. We opted for two starters from the specials and one main from the specials, with the other being the Mussels - excellent again. Portion sizes have remained consistent whilst at the same time prices have remained value for money. As on previous visits the drinks choice was wide. a taste of the beers was given freely. On this occasion of particular note were the staff - sorry no names but the front of house host and the chap behind the bar were both excellent. Once again The Fishermans Arms assured themselves of another booking on our next trip to Plymouth.

Came here with friends. Everyone had a roast dinner. There was a choice of turkey, beef, lamb or gammon. I chose lamb. It was served as very fine slices. Sides of (a very cheesy) cauliflower cheese & creamed leeks was optional. They were generous with the portion sizes and they do homemade yorkshire puddings. You definitely won't leave hungry! There was a variety of desserts. The warm sticky toffee pudding was 'close your eyes' good. The service was good and not too long a wait. The only thing that would have been nice would be to have the option to have a mixed meat plate rather than having to stick to one choice (with the option to add on 1 more at additional cost) but not a deal breaker. The prices were reasonable overall. They are also welcoming to pets and children. They also have a baby change facility. If you're just there for drinks they have a nice variety of beer, real ale & ciders along with the usual bottled hardcore stuff. They also have a nice quirk of sweet dispensers if youre in the mood for some jelly beans or mini chocolate eggs. They also have a great decor but I won't spoil the suprise with pictures of that, but you must see it for yourself :) I would recommend this place and hope to be back at some point. Thank you.

For some reason we waited for years to experience this wonderful place and so wish we’d done it sooner. It was a Xmas present from our daughter as I’d always thought it rather expensive without even checking it out properly. For the fine and extremely delicious dining experience we had, I personally think it was very reasonable (maybe not somewhere to go every week, but definitely to be considered for that special night out). The food, service and venue all exceeded our expectations and we will definitely go again in the near future. It will be fascinating to look out their windows across the Hoe in different seasons.

Takeaway bacon baps were very nice. Not many people in so difficult to tell what the atmosphere was like but will definitely visit again.

The best mixed grill in Plymouth. You can't get a better little pub, I don't stay as I live locally, Beautiful views with a brilliant service. I couldn't eat it all, took some home my little hound. If you are passing pop in for a drink or a mix grill
