Hidden gem of a place. Church run cafe doing breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had sandwiches and panini - all fresh and filling - Cajun chicken was very good. Clean and welcoming with friendly staff.

Visited 06/07/23 Straightforward cafe, reasonable menu choice for most. We ordered ham egg & chips and sausage and mash, both meals okay for the reasonable cost. Nice and civilised atmosphere compared to the fast food eateries in nearby Drake Circus. Excellent pot of tea.

Food wasn’t great, service was poor at best apart from the old chap that took our order who was great. To find lipstick marks on both coffee cups during a pandemic is particularly disappointing and slightly concerning. However, very cheap, you get what you pay for.

I often go here now before i go down to the cat's protection charity shop, and i enjoy the food i would say for money it is good. I think that the busiest day is a Tuesday, but in all it is worth going in and having food or just a cup of drink and a tea cake.

Attached to the adjacent Methodist church and carrying the ichthys symbol on the sign, this place is the calm hospitable epitome of a Christian operation selling good sensible food at very fair prices in a clean sensible space (with an outside sitting area) right in the heart of the upper retail area where Cornwall Street opens to Drake Circus. It reminds me of late 1950s style public catering but is none the worse for that. My impression is that it attracts not only a portion of the church membership but older folk, some vulnerable or less confident people and some who have very restricted budgets. But it is hospitable and caring. Set all that aside and it’s also very conveniently sited above street level but very close to many shops.

My Grandson and I love the Discovery Cafe. We love the fact that it's run mainly by volunteers, it's peacefulness and food is really good and a good price. Roast dinners most days but go early as sell out quite quickly. They also help people in need with free teas or coffee. You can donate £1 or so towards this if you want but they won't ask you, you just enquire.

We had a nice day out in Plymouth on Monday and after a few hours we were in need of refreshment. We met up with family members and they suggested the Discovery Café . Well what a lovely surprise, a very clean café selling a variety of meals, snacks and beverages at a very reasonable price. I had bacon egg and chips, my husband had curry and chips, my sister in law had a small portkion of ham egg and chips and my brother in law had fish and chips. We all had mugs of tea. Everything was served piping hot, the chips were lovely, better than in a lot of restaurants. The staff were welcoming and they all seemed happy to be there. Couldn't be more helpful. I will certainly be popping in here again for lunch soon.

We found Discovery cafe after traipsing through Drake centre for a wedding 2 hours later at the Methodist church right next door. Yeah, we gave the usual coffee outlets a miss by entering this traditional cafe for a light snack at very reasonable cost - mug of coffee, sarnie/salad, large piece of fresh cake for £7.20. Excellent value in pleasant surroundings. Only caveat is that they close shop at 2.30 pm
