The Fish & Chip Plaice in Wyre

Very disappointed. Bought fish and chips from here and wish I’d never bothered. The fish was acceptable but the chips were awful. I actually saw the fryer lady pull the assistant’s hand away to prevent her from giving me too many. I’m glad she did. I only went because of the good reviews but I wish I’d not bothered.

If I could give negative stars I would. Absolutely disgusting, vile, unsanitary place. Gave me and my 6 year old child food poisoning. Reported them to the food standards agency and they did not care about it at all and never gave me a refund. Disgusting place and the people who work there and just as vile.

We are from Southport and was staying at the marina camp site. I chose chips cheese and garvy as its not something I have ever heard of before. Omg it's delicious. Everyone was super friendly and if we were local would definitely be back. If your visiting the area be sure to give it a try!!

Good fish and chips - probably one of the better fish/chip shops in Garstang.

Called in at lunch time and purchased Fish and chip, battered sausage and chips twice and sausage and chips. Also curry sauce. The chip are amazing and not to oily or crunchy. Just perfect. The Fish was huge. Lovely batter and big flakes of white fish. The battered sausage was delicious as well. Definitely going back for more.

Lovely.. it's the nearest chippy to us .As another reviewer pointed out , yes ,I live on the chavvy council estate!!! Really good portions , chips best I've had in ages and a huge piece of fish .cash only but I can live with that . Worth a visit

Visited this little tucked away chippy the other week, good fish and chips and they had beans! Believe me some chippys don't..... Very friendly staff serving / cooking well she was doing everything when I visited to be honest..... Good chippy though just a shame it's kind of hidden!

My “Go to Chippy” when I’m in Garstang.. good sized portions and the chips, oh the chips.. not greasy at all, well neither is the fish, “just perfectly cooked”!!! I’ll be back again for sure!!!

Wife had Cod, I had the Haddock, best fish and chips we ever had, no greasy mess when opening up the containers to dish up, fish cooked to perfection, chips, best we have ever had!

I have just had fish and chips for tea and the food was amazing! Light flakey fish with crispy batter (not oily!) the chips fresh and crispy! Don't believe the bad reviews, I have eaten here many times now and it's been delicious every time. Keep up the good work! :)

Tried for first time very moorish fish chips mushy peas and pudding chips curry sauce very nice lady served me I felt like a regular. Its my now go to chippy 😋

Called in to the chippy with my son for our tea we have recently moved to garstang and as the chippy is a 5 minutes walk away we thought we would try it out, what a great decision it was the fish and chips were excellent definitely recommended and will definitely be back

horrible food. came with my daughter to grab a bite to eat and was disgusted at the appalling food quality. chips were ok, fish was uncooked. had to take my daughter to the hospital the following day where they discovered norovirus in her blood stream, which I would suspect was possibly a result of prepping the food on an unsanitary workspace with dirty hands. not even gonna bother raising it with the business owner(s) as they flat out denied all of the complaints a friend of mine once made regarding the poor food quality. have also been verbally harassed by chavs on many occasions outside of the shop, which i guess is what happens when u choose to situate ur business next to a council estate. won’t be returning again that’s for sure…

If there was the option to put half a star I would use it. Last time I made a visit here around 2 years ago. I complained on the reviews about my finding of a bacterial growth on my battered fish and woodlice under the chips leaving me ashamed of the work standard and my son throwing up in the bin outside... as a result I was harassed directly by one of the workers here who didn't like my transparency within the review that I made and was initially censored right afterwards. I came back recently to give the food another try and I found that the doors were shut upon my arrival and saw some of the staff laughing in my direction. I am astounded that just because I have a child who's disabled with alopecia and having come from a Jewish household - does not mean that we cant receive basic human decency.😤

It took 12 minutes to get home, and everything was still excellent, good sized regular haddock in crispy better, piping hot chips and (for my taste) perfect mushy peas. Yum!

Was nearly put off this place be its latest review but we risked it and glad we did. Delicious fish chips peas and gravy and friendly staff. We are currently on a canal boat and it's very easy walking distance. Will definitely be back next time !!

Bland, tasteless fish. Bag was absolutely dripping with fat on our arrival home. Chips okish, most of them very hard and sharp. We went because the chippy was recommended by a local, and perhaps we were just very unlucky, but after paying over £17.- for two large fish and chips (only £12 at our local chippy), we were expecting a bit more quality. We will not buy again.

We’re quite new to the area and we’ve been in search of nice fish and chips, we visited a few others in area but this place has been the nicest. They aren’t oily and portion size was good. We enjoyed them. We ordered them over the phone and collection time was pretty fast. We’ll be getting fish and chips from here in the future.

Wanted a takeaway for our last evening camping, chose this Chippy after looking at other people’s reviews. The cod was fantastic, with lovely crispy batter, chips were great but far too many. A great find and we’ll be back.

Just moved to the area & this chippy was recommended by a neighbour. We’ve been twice in 2 weeks! Without doubt the best fish & chips from a chippy I’ve ever had. Chips are crisp & not fatty, fish is beautifully battered & cooked. I had a battered black pudding yesterday, a whole black pudding, not a slice as I expected, absolutely beautiful. Staff are friendly & efficient. We will be back! Highly recommended.

Fantastic freshly cooked fish and chips served wonderful happy staff. Having lived In the Fylde all my life I have visited many chip shops In the area but now living In Garstang I am so happy to have such a splendid Chip Shop on my doorstep.

Had fish, chips, peas, gravy. Wife and I sat outside in the car and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Good quality food.

Never had anything but great food in here, it’s always a busy place (so you know this is a great sign!) Food is always cooked to perfection, LOVE a steak & Kidney pud with mushy peas .. Staff are fab and consistent (can’t say that for many places these days!) The cleanliness of the premises too is on another level!! 5 star chippy! Having eaten in them all locally, this one is THE best..

I called for lunch today and had fish, chips & mushy peas with a pot of tea. The ladies were very pleasant, my lunch was quickly cooked and served up. Nice crisp chips and moist fish with a nicely cooked batter. Highly recommended.

Very few eateries can manage what the Fish and Chip Plaice manages. Not only is their food amazing, the chippy spotless and the staff pleasant but it's the consistency. You know exactly what you are going to get, everytime, when you visit. They never seem to have an off day, doesn't matter the season for the quality of the spud or the staff on the fryer, it is always high quality. Nicola has built up an amazing business and deserves every success.

Excellent chippy, exactly what you'd want. I had a battered sausage and chips, and couldn't ask for better - a great quality potato, done to perfection. Well coloured on the outside, piping hot and fluffy inside. A quick service with friendly staff, and even has a bit of space to sit inside. A highlight of visiting Garstang.

Visited this PLAICE for fish and chips as were staying in the area and saw the many glowing reviews. Maybe we are wrong BUT, 1. It was busy (25 minute wait) and the staff spectacularly grumpy/unwelcoming 2. The chips seriously over cooked 3. Batter on the fish was horrid, seemed to be in 2 or 3 layers. 4. Curry sauce a ridiculously thick mess 5. Cheese and onion pies revolting On the positive sausages were nice. Quite possibly the most over hyped PLAICE I have ever visited

Very nice fish and chips, went on a Friday evening it was very busy with lots of people in the shop with a very confusing queuing system, they really need to work on that to make it better .

Been here numerous time, both to eat in and take out. Cannot fault it at all. Fish is always perfectly cooked - normally to order.
