Good friendly service,we had a medium cod and large cod with medium chips and a large battered sausage and large chips and a curry source,the cod was cooked perfectly nice big chunks of fish and the batter was light and crispy the chips were OK not the best but certainly not the worst we have had,the curry source was good and wasn't sweet like alot of chip shop curry sources,the battered sausage was good with a light covering of batter The price was around £28 pounds but in these days environment not too bad.

Great food, however for me it was too pricey, my great mate Rik Stein does not charge that much, and at St Mervyn you can buy a samm fish and chips the same size with a cap of pop thrown in for under a Tenner in the Blue chip as it is now known this would cost you almost £15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stopped off for fish and chips in Callington on our way home. Ordered medium cod and small chips, and curry sauce When unwrapped the medium fish didn't was so small more batter than fish and smelt and tasted weird. I would not go back and cost £22.10 a total rip off more fish in a tin of sardines. Would not recommend to anyone

I had medium fish and chips, the chips were okay, The fish however was probably the worst I have ever had from a chip shop. It was wet, flat, greasy, slimy, and was barely edible. For the price (over £10 for both) this extremely poor. 👎🏻

Had small battered sausage and chips. Also jumbo battered sausage & chips. The jumbo sausage was 2 small ones. The chips aren’t cooked and are as white as snow. £9.20 that cost. Never will I go there again.

Went to get 2 meals. Cod and chips and sausage and chips. Cod and sausage were OK but the chips were undercooked.

Now called The Blue Chip, this little gem sits in the heart of this rather quiet town. I rang ahead and ordered my food and was greeted by a very efficient and friendly voice on the phone. 15 minutes later I arrived in the restaurant, which was busy, but you wouldn't expect much less for a Friday evening. Again more smiling faces greeted me, from a nicely eclectic mix of staff, old and young. We ordered 2 medium cod and a single portion of small chips which came to around £16. Prices have increased recently, but that is to be expected. Fish was large and beautifully cooked and the chips definitely enough for 2, and had that impossible to make at home taste. All in all a wonderful experience, which I look forward to repeating again and again.

AVOID!! I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to warn people of poor standards at the blue chip fish n chip shop in callington Cornwall. On the evening of the 6th of Jan 2022 we had to go to callington so decided to get some fish n chips for our evening meal. We ordered over the telephone and arrived to collect at the correct time. When walking into the shop non of the staff had a face mask on!! During these difficult times with the new covid 19 variant on the rise surely the minimum protection is to wear mask when serving the general public with food that can easily be contaminated if no mask is present. Ok so we paid for our food (almost £20 for 2 portions of fish n chip) and drove the 8 miles home. Placing the food on the plate there was a strong smell of ammonia emanating from the fish. Taking one bite was enough. The taste was foul. Not knowing what would cause this we looked it up online only for be shocked at the various results all stating the same thing. Ammonia vapour from fish is a clear and distinct result of decomposition. In other words the fish was rotten even before the shop had put it in the fryer. Clearly the gentleman behind the fryer should not be using rotting fish but as he couldn't be bothered to wear a mask either clearly he had no regard for customer safety. The food was not fit for human consumption and should never have been served. We had to throw all of it in the bin. If you want to spend a large amount of money on rotten food use this shop. Otherwise Avoid!! There are easier ways to become ill.

Arriving in Callington in the rain I spotted a fish and chip shop, which seemed busy, so decided to stop for fish & chips. There was around a 15 minute wait as the meal was freshly cooked. When away from home I will often get fish and chips, but the cod I received was the largest piece of fish I had ever received, it was huge, and perfectly cooked throughout. The chips were well cooked and portion size was large, way too many for me to eat. Overall a good filling meal.

Very hit and miss here, sometimes its good sometimes not. Todays experience wasn't the best. All small crispy chips. Not worth the money at all.

Very Good. As ever, we weren’t disappointed with the service, or the quality of the food. The COVID precautions were very well done, too. A definite plus point for Callington. The staff are friendly, and helpful.

Went to get fish and chips for the adults, and battered sausages with chips for the kids. Ordered 2 large cod and chips, a medium chips and 2 battered sausages. Waited outside in the rain quite happily as they had a good covid system of 2 in the shop at a time. However, when we got the order and got home the 2 sausages were wildly different sizes (photo taken as I was so shocked). I had to just give them to the children as they were very hungry. The portions for fish and chips were good, but sadly the fish and chips tasted like they’d been fried in very old oil. The kids did eat some of their chips but they tend to douse them in ketchup! The girl serving was very cheerful and sweet. Sad to find that the local chippy isn’t on form on a Friday :( 2/5 because the service was friendly and the covid system was good, but the food let it down.

The PIE i was given was hard totally and dried out. Could not even cut it with a knife . I throw it at the dog , he sniffed it and walked off. What a pathetic business avoid like the plague.

Worse fish and chips I've ever had. As a local we expected more. The medium sized cod was small, the batter was white and undercooked. Very disappointed in the quality. We got home and had to put the fish under the grill for 15 minutes to make it half editable. Chips were very greasy and didnt taste fresh.

The fish is cooked to order and is piping hot and so delicious. We didn't have to wait that long for it all to be ready either. There are tables in there so you can sit and eat if you want to.

I’m not sure what has happened to this place, but the quality of food is appalling! The batter around the fish is white and soggy (undercooked if you like), the chips taste like they’ve been reheated in a microwave, they’re dry, hard and almost like a leather texture. I think this place needs to shut down and to get some experts in that know what they’re doing! I wouldn’t even feed this food to my dogs!

Nice English fish and chip shop friendly staff it's becoming one of our favourite places to eat nice and clean you can sit in and good value for money

There are not many options in this area but this could and possibly should be a lot better. High prices for what are very small fish portions and the chips are an average taste at best. Not particularly friendly - we would only return in an emergency!

This is avert good fish and chip shop, offering a wide range odd different takeaway meals. Goof food at a very reasonable price.

I was dubious about eating here as I had read some bad reviews, we were ordering for 9 hungry people and I have to say, the service was great, all food was freshly cooked, and the prices were very reasonable. We had a vegan and vegetarian in our group who’s needs were also met and then some of us tried the deep fried mars bars.... oh... my... goodness.... absolutely yummy! Get some ice cream ready!

Cornwall is blessed with a great many wonderful fish and chip shops. The reason I think is all the produce is local and fresh.The Fish Bar is NOT one of those wonderful fish and chip shops.I visited last week, the chips still had peel on, the fish was so minutely small it's a wonder it was not thrown back into the sea (it was supposed to be a medium size.To add insult to injury it was grossly over priced.I suggested that they visit Francines in Launceston to see what quality and value is all about.

the batter on the fish, sausage and cod bites was white in colour.when asked if it was cooked was told that they had just changed the oil!...even with fresh oil the batter should be golden..by the time we got it home it was a wet disgusting slimy mess in the paper.the chips were undercooked..will never use them again.

Have always had good fish and chips here and their southern fried chicken is closest I've ever had to you know whos??

Ordered 2x large fish & chips with 1plain 1 battered sausage -£23!!! Nearly died! After a half hour wait to cook them, got back to our holiday accomodation & they were awful! Frozen fries that had been passed off as chips, soggy batter & no taste or flavour at all! Would nor return again. Most expensive & most awful meal ever

Got fish & chips, more batter than fish and the batter was disgusting, well over cooked and like a brick, and talk about slow service, do they not want any customers? Never again, save your money.

A nice chippy, with friendly staff. Has an area to sit and have your meal aswell which is a big bonus. Plenty to offer on the menu, more than most other fish and chip shops. All I would say is that some things seem a bit more on the pricey side. Overall it's a decent chippy, and definitely coming back.

We bought a medium cod, 2 large portions of chips, a jumbo sausage and 2 battered sausages, which relieved us of just under £15. Bit pricey but not horrendous. However when we got back and opened up our treats, the fish was almost a child's portion size (tasted nice enough with good batter but way too small for the best part of a fiver). The chips were some of the poorest we've had for a while. Many burnt bits, way too greasy and not nicely cooked. Not entirely sure what their cooking process is but sorry, it just don't work. Adequate only I'm afraid, only just scraped a 2.

£5.95 for a medium cod and chips, mushy peas and a mug of tea between 5 and 7 on a Thursday evening. Eat in. A ramp for the frail and disabled. A view straight down the main street and convenient to both pubs.
