The Fish And Chip Shop in South Norfolk

I called in at Victoria Fish Bar one evening last week when passing through Diss. I only purchased a portion of chips and battered sausage to take away but thought at the time that they were worthy of a review. Quite honestly, as good a portion of chips as I have ever had and excellent value. The battered sausage was of good quality with a lovely crispy coating of batter. Thank you.

In the area for a few days. Had haddock & chips on Saturday, it was so good went back for more today. Best fish & chips we've had in years...👍

Stopped here on our way home from a day out on the total off chance as every pub on the A140 was fully booked. Really good freshly cooked fish and chips. We asked if there was anywhere local we could sit and eat our food and was advised about a little park in Scole near the river that hada few benches. Was great thank you so much. You saved the day 😊

We are on holiday and had 1 cheeseburger, 1 cod and large chips for £11.60. Fish was cooked to order.... so flaky, batter crispy no sogginess or doughy taste. Chips were lovely and perfectly cooked. Staff were friendly and accommodating. They shared the chips between 2 boxes so we could share the portion. This is a take away, but there is a table and chairs for 4 people. There isn’t anything we could complain about.

Absolute rubbish ,tough chips ,probably from day before thick gooey batter,! If you don’t care what your customers eat ,why don’t you find something else to do?

Great fish and chips , with special offers throughout the week. Free parking at rear , and staff are always friendly and willing to please. Consistent quality.

This fish and chip shops serves gourmet quality food, completely disproportionate to the small price. Worthy of a Master Chef, It has to be amongst a handful of the best in the UK.

I stopped to get fish and chips for the first time at this shop but when I got the food hometowns smelt strange and tasty bad, I called them and discovered the fish and chips are cooked in beef fat. I am a non meat eater and I feel sick and disappointed that they do not have a notice up somewhere saying beef fat is used instead of vegetable oil. I will never return.

Amazingly good chippy and the friendliest of staff, they are attentive and helpful. Food is always fresh and tasty.

Great British Fish and Chips, fish was light and fluffy and the batter was not to heavy. take away is good as their is a nice seating area opposite to sit and eat.

We got fish and chips from here recently. Chips luke warm cod was dry like it had been sitting for some time. Will not be returning. Chip shop in the market Square is way better.

This is a great Fish & Chip shop - when we moved to Diss we tried them all & have tried them all since. Firstly Fair Green are over-priced and over-rated (will review separately) I don't mind the queues if food is good but their portions are too small, prices extortionate compared to other restaurants where you can get the same level of food (and more of it) for much less money. UNFORTUNATELY Fair Green pay lots of money to enter the national scam that is Fish & Chip competitions (yes that's right - you have to pay a lot to enter and most shops don't - so no bias there then!) and so will only get people with a degree of objectivity. I would also add (subjective observation) that many of the people we see in the Fish & Chip shop are from the older generation, some but not most of which are likely to use TripAdvisor. I felt compelled to write a fair review because this place is good, friendly, and is sitting right near the BOTTOM of places to eat in Diss all because of one 2* review (and only 2 reviews total!). I would be very interested to see if the Fair Green evangelisers would be happy to put a significant cash wager on a double blind taste test.... any takers?

Recently had pie, chips from here , my boyfriend also. The pies were dry tasting of grease, scorched on top, the chips tasted as though they had been kept warm for a long time , would not buy from again even though it's really close to home .

Well cooked, well served in very pleasant and clean café. Pretty decor with attention to detail and nice lean loo/wash room/changing facility. Nice atmosphere. You can watch passers by. Oooh wish I was munching on their lovely fish and chips with peas right now. There is also the addition of nicely displayed sauces of many choices! You get a good cuppa in a tea pot with adequate milk and sugars, etc. Good choice of menu and never had a complaint as everything is just so here. Like the décor very much and sums up a fish and chip shop well. Lovely staff, thank you. X Cater for all ages and abilities and go out of their way to help. Get there early. A very popular place where "regulars" visit. Yum!
