Arrived 7pm just the 2 of us, restaurant was not busy, Ordered 2 starters 1 calamari and 1 breaded brie, Very good and tasty. Main meal l ordered ribeye medium rare. Waited over half an hour and was given a free drink because of the long wait. Meal came 10mins later steak was literally raw and cold in the center.My wife's steak was so overcooked it was inedible. Such a shame, great staff and couldn't apologize enough would go back to give it another chance maybe it was just a bad day

This place is horrible. The food took over an hour to arrive, and even then my family said it tasted bad and made my father feel unwell. The desserts took another 40minutes to arrive. The only thing they did was bring drinks within a reasonable time. Im a vegetarian and there was nothing appetising too eat that wasnt halloumi cheese with mediteranian vegetables, or a vegan burger that is always a hit or miss option. Also the staff was more concerned with talking to each other than waiting tables and ensuring customers were enjoying their evening, to get their attention you had to call them over and we had different wait staff each time. Also if you are disabled physically dont go. Theres steps down to the tables and the bathroom is up a flight of stairs, there was an elevator that i saw only after i walked up the spiral stair case, no ramp was in sight for the steps in the main restaurant. Honestly this place looked for like a bar trying and failing to be a restaurant. If i was looking for a night out with friends im sure the experience would be different but we went for food and were thoroughly disappointed.

After reading what appeared to be good reviews we decided to eat at The Southport Fire pit before the fireworks. We had not booked a table and were told there was one available but we could only stay for 1 and 3/4hrs despite the place being half empty. Took 15 mins before staff to take our drink and food order, no waggu burgers or pulled pork left we were told.... Saturday afternoon!! Maybe the ordering system needs looking at. Drinks took a while to come. After nearly an hour our food arrived... Well 3 of our meals.. One was missing, we were informed chef had forgotten to make it... 4th meal eventually arrived. Food was average, toilets were dirty and only one tap worked for hand washing. Several tables complained about the delay in receiving food.

Appalling service last night. Arrived at a party 9. Pre booked and pre ordered food last week at their request. Arrived 1830, the restaurant was half empty. Half the drinks order arrived and had to wait another 25 minutes before the rest arrived. After 45 minutes only 3 or the 6 starters arrived. No service staff came back to check how the food was or if everything had arrived. We had to call someone over and ask where the rest of the starters were. We were informed that they hadn’t made them and they would be another half an hour (it was only garlic bread with cheese) we decided after we had already waited so long and it took so long to get the starters we agreed for it all to arrive together. We then waited another 45-1 hour for the mains to arrive. One meal was also sent back for being cold. Overall, the food was mostly ok, but very salty. Absolutely awful services and won’t be returning. Considering we have been here before and had zero problems, this was the reason we booked to go back. Staff all very junior and inexperienced, there was no excuse for the awful service provided given the fact we pre ordered and the restaurant was half empty.

Had a lovely meal here last night. Food was hot and plentiful. Great range to choose from. Good drinks menu. Lovely atmosphere and staff. My husbands steak was undercooked but this was quickly rectified and we both really enjoyed our meals.

Great service ( Nicole) not rushed and very polite and great help with choosing from the menu food was amazing steaks cooked to perfection and not fatty restaurant is very clean and relaxing would highly recommend to family and friends

We booked our table for 4 in advance due to having a lovely meal last year, the food took one hour to arrive and unfortunately the staff didn’t seem to confident and therefore the service could have been better but the food when it arrived was very nice and we were enjoying our meal up to both my friend and I visiting the ladies! I can say that I have never found any toilets so disgusting!! They had definitely not been cleaned for a long time even the inside of the pots was brown and the floors at the rear of the toilet was so bad on the floor that both my friend and I came out and both commented, there was no hand soap and the walls and mirrors were dirty but yet a notice on the wall stated they were cleaned daily which was not true. This has now put us off ever visiting again because if the toilets are so bad, how could we rely on the cleanliness of the kitchens, this lack of cleanliness was also on the mirrors on the walls of the restaurant and the entrance, overall a very dissatisfied experience.

The first red flag was they asked our group of 9 to select our orders a month in advance. When we arrived at 7:25 for a 7:15 reservation they were asked to get the food flowing. By 9:30 all we had got was a few appetizers including burnt oily fish cakes that we were told “come like that”. My wife and I bailed as we stopped believing it was going to be “just 10 minutes”. The restaurant was not full at any point. The kitchen was chaos. I was hoping Gordon Ramsay was going to show up and make it all better. We went in search of a take out pizza joint. Is the food good? No idea. Not worth rolling the dice on this place. And didn’t appreciate the lame excuses or trying to blame us for being a “group”. I walked out HATING this place.

We came for my sons birthday as not been for a while, although I told them when I booked it was his birthday we were a tad bit disappointed in every way. The service by the girls was a bit much & food wasn’t that good, woke up with a sore stomach both my husband & I wether it’s changed hands as it used too be so good in here. Hence the 3 stars no atmosphere or even a happy birthday to my son at all so won’t be returning

Excellent Fantastic starters ribd and mushrooms totally devine. Steak cooked to perfection. Raspberry cheesecake OMG melt in your mouth experience. So coming back.

We went for my husbands bd. In honesty we booked; we had never been here before and We almost cancelled due to the negative reviews on here. So glad we didn’t - it was gorgeous! Beautiful food - best nachos we’ve ever had - and we eat a lot of them. Homemade, not Doritos covered In cheese. The staff were lovely and smiley and helpful. They made an extra drink by accident and gave it to my husband for his bd - no complaints from us. Also when they have the bill they pointed out service had been added but we didn’t have to pay that - many places do not do this and just expect you to pay it - we paid it and gave extra. Thanks firepit, we will be back.

Shoddy appearance, inattentive staff and slow service. Food left on service bar for over 5 mins. We sat for 10 mins with no service. We walked out having no confidence that adequate food would be served.

We've just been for my partners birthday, bottomless brunch. This place is a hidden gem. The food, wow, it said small portions, they were not small portions! The flavours on the pulled pork were stunning. The service was amazing, you were never without a drink, Ella and Callum were so attentive. When I informed the staff it was for a birthday they arranged for a sparkler to be in his pudding which was a nice touch. Can't recommend this place enough, thankyou 😁

Disappointing, we booked for Sunday Lunch, we arrived and were shown to our table and given a menu but not the Sunday lunch menu, we asked if they were still serving Sunday lunch and were told that they needed to check, the waitress came back with the menus and said they were, another waiter came back to take our order, we both chose roast beef, the waiter then said he needed to check if there was enough, he went to check and came back to say these were the last 2, the menu stated that the beef could be served pink or well done we weren't asked how we wanted this, the main course arrived and we were quite disappointed with what was served, the roast beef was a piece of steak both cooked well done!, the yorkshire pudding was flat and looked more like a sponge cake and there were no parsnips on the meal either, we asked for salt and pepper and were given salt and vinegar not sure why. We gave all our comments to who we presumed to be a manager and she explained that serving a steak as roast beef was there take on Sunday lunch, if I would have wanted a steak I would have looked to order one we simply wanted nicely cooked sliced roast beef, she very kindly discounted that we didn't get parsnips but that was the point. We decide to order dessert, we asked what berries were on the Eaton Mess, we were told there was raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, we asked for there to be no blueberries on there when it arrived there were none of these fruits just strawberries, the other dessert ordered was apple tart with blackcurrant sorbet, we waited quite some time for dessert but the apple tart was served warm which explained the wait but when it did arrive it had ice cream on there which we pointed out that was not what the menu stated, this was taken away and changed, service was very slow although the food was good but not what expected, I think i can safely saw we won't be returning

The ribeye steak came smelt sweaty and when cut was white and grey inside. The waiter checked the stock told us it was the use by date but only came in day before...he agreed there was something wrong with it. The side didnt look great either we literally dipped our fork in the sweet potato mash and ate a mushroom, the waiter took the steak off the bill (obviously we are not prepared to pay for rotten meat) but argued to leave the side on the bill which later removed as we had no main meal and we didnt eat the sides as we honestly felt sick. The fact they ordered food with a 1 day use by date they intentionally served meat that they new was on.it its a scam there obviously buying low cost price meat and charging £20 for it. I thought the right thing to do for your customer would be to remove the sides also without dispute and offer a gesture of a drink or alike.

Unreal food, I cannot wait to return. We had spare ribs and the crab taco to start. Spot the actual crab in the picture. Both were delicious but the ribs got rave reviews “best ribs I’ve ever had”. We all opted for the steak on a stone which is where it’s served on a hot stone for you to cook to your liking. We all went for the 10oz fillet which is a bargain at £23.95, it comes with your choice of 1 side and 3 dipping sauces. I selected the hassleback potatoes which were delicious (basically new potatoes cooked in hassleback style) and plenty of them, and had steak sauce which I’d say was a little bit like bernaise, then bbq and teriyaki. We ordered a mix of sauces across the table and I have to say my favourite was honey and mustard. If I could offer any feedback it’d be for them to add peppercorn sauce as an option. Other than that I can’t fault this place. The gin serves are value for money too, around £3.95-£5.95 each. There’s parking outside on the road which is pay & display until 6pm then free after. Can’t wait to return!

Me and my boyfriend had a spontaneous trip to Southport for the bank holiday- we’ve never been before so didn’t really know where to go for dinner. Whilst looking for nearby restaurants I stumbled across The Firepit and we were not disappointed! We both ordered steaks and my boyfriend said it was the nicest one he’s ever had- both were cooked exactly as we liked it and the Stilton sauce was lovely. The only issue was where we sat upstairs- it was quite Smokey from where people had ordered steak on a stone so the smoke lingered, I assume this was because of there being no ventilation. But overall a lovely meal and we will be returning!

I am only writing this review as I got no response from emailing the restaurant direct. I went when Merseyside was in tier 2 so maybe they were a little disorganised with everything going on. I had a mixed grill at £35. It was alright, nothing to warrant the price. I asked for rare steak, id say it came closer to medium. Also it came with no sausage and when I asked about that, they came back and said I should have been told when ordering. I wasn't and nothing else was said. My girlfriend ordered a cheesy garlic bread, that they somehow missed off the order, but when arrived, was just plain. I do love a good moan but for me it was not bad food, just not good food, and you get a few little disappointments which overall completely spoils the event.

Myself and fiance went for my Birthday and the food was incredible. Scallops were very tasty and the steak on a stone was the best steak I've ever had. Great service and very nice, modern surroundings!

I know this is essentially a meat orientated restaurant but Halloumi is the easiest thing to get right. Not my halloumi burger though. It was a doorstop of cheese that had barely been browned so in the world of steak, it was rare & cold...not a bit of crisp or taste. Totally unpleasant. Equally unpleasant were the Balls of Fire as the only taste was raw chilli. I love chilli but not like that. For the prices this is just not good enough. The meat eaters I was with were fine with the food they ordered so this review is just about the vegetarian experience. The restaurant needs to up its game in this respect.

Came in for a Chateauxbriand but didn't have any so got two 10 oz steak (on a stone) thats a good enough replacement i guess but i would have thought being steak on a stone that it would come a little less cooked. Other than that I loved it, the service, the girls were friendly and all measures were in place. It's a great place for steak in southport, although this isn't my first time here, It does seem to have lost its greatness of a couple year ago. Still, a great steak was had.

We decided to go here during the eat out to help out scheme. We started with 2 drinks and the waitress came over at least 4 times in the space of 10 minutes asking over and over when we’d order. We said we weren’t hungry yet and were having a drink before we decided. She informed us that we could not do that and that we needed to hurry up. We ordered 3 starters: nachos, crab taco and olives. They were all average however when we imagined crab taco we thought we were going to get crab meat in tacos. They brought us a tiny, fried, whole crab in a taco with a single lettuce leaf, for £8.95!! I have never seen anything like it. After all this they had the cheek to charge us £40 for 3 starters and 2 drinks!!! And it was 50% off due to the scheme. Scandalous and laughable.

The chef served us raw scallops and undercooked camembert. Then had the waitress come back to our table, to tell us "we'll accept the camembert is wrong but this how scallops should be cooked" as a chef of 15years experience I found this not only to be rude, but dangerously misinformed. This coupled with a cold/overcooked burger, the couple next to us being served a deep-fried softshell crab with the innards still in, followed by raw chateaubriand on a cooking stone and a 30 minute wait for drinks across the board, is deeply unsettling. Won't be back.

We were all so so impressed with everything at this restaurant! The social distancing precautions were amazing, as soon as someone would leave the restaurant a member of staff would wipe all the table and chairs thoroughly. There was nothing that was too much for the staff to do for us, asking for alterations to drinks and food was not a problem at all. The food was absolutely gorgeous and was the best steak that I’ve ever had! Everything about this restaurant was amazing, the food, drink, staff and social distancing procedures. Couldn’t fault it at all! Thank you so much for making my dad’s 50th such a special experience, will 100% be returning ! Thank you once again!

Best meal of our mini break! We’ve tried several restaurants whilst in Southport and this was our best, not the cheapest but couldn’t fault the food or service.Chicken wings, olives and padron peppers to share between the four of us was just enough, succulent chicken and the peppers were very tasty.Two southern fried buggers, one fire pit burger and steak with macaroni cheese, all of which was delicious! I wouldn’t have chosen the mac cheese with steak but my 14 year old daughter did and it was soooo tasty, big pieces of tender steak....lovely!Then both children ordered a desert, sticky toffee pudding with butter scotch sauce and vanilla icecream, omg so moist and heavenly. Daughter had the creme brûlée, I wasn’t allowed to taste it, too good!! All in all, a taste deluxe!

The restaurant is beautiful and had a fantastic ambience. The three staff were clearly run off their feet and every table was met with an apology for the time it was taking for drinks and food to come out (not helped by a superb cocktail menu and one barman trying to keep up with demand). We had the Camembert and Scallops to start, the Camembert hadn’t been cooked both cold and solid, the scallops were raw. I’m not usually one to make a fuss but my partner is a chef and didn’t want to risk eating the scallops so asked if our starts could be re done. The lovely waitress (only 16) then came out and said the chef was happy to redo my Camembert but disagreed about the scallops being raw and that that’s how scallops should be cooked but if wanted them overdone he would. We naturally were taken a back by the response and the lack of customer service but to send that message via the waitress who looked mortified was very unprofessional. When our food came back it was better, my Camembert has clearly been microwaved but the scallops were perfect. The mains were nice and the novelty of an 8oz halloumi was enjoyable. We fed this back on the night and the staff didn’t look shocked and were very apologetic. The serving staff were fantastic and continuously tried to deliver excellent service when they were understaffed and very busy.

We havent been here for some time and decided as it was on the Eat out to Help Out scheme would give it a go, we know it is not cheap and so it is a treat place but when on an offer where can get up to £10 pp off which the government is going to pay then why not! We went with my son & his girlfriend who had been just as they opened after lockdown lifted restaurants and they said it was fab then. The covid measures were very good, hand sanitizers as you came in, clear markings on the floor and information given about the loos etc and the staff keeping their distance as much as possible when serving you or showing you to your seats and all wearing masks. They didnt have anything on the table and if you wanted condiments they were brought to you. We all ordered steaks, 1 rare, 2 medium/rare and 1 medium. The rare and 1 medium rare came out first and looked fab and as I always have bit of issue if steak hasnt been rested so blood running on plate then was pleased to see none. Unfortunately when it came to mine & hubby which were the other medium rare and medium they both had clearly not been rested as long and there was blood running around the plate. I know it doesnt make any difference to the meat but it does just put me off some. The steaks were all cooked perfectly and the chips were good and the shallot & mushroom nice. The peppercorn sauce was nice apparently too which two had. So yes a very nice steak but just rather if all 4 steaks had been rested long enough for no blood even if that meant waiting a few mins after the first two had been brought out or just making us all wait for them a bit longer to allow all 4 to rest properly. I appreciate that on the Eat out to Help Out nights that places are under a lot of pressure and very busy and so like I say it just a small point but this is not a cheap eating place and when you pay £21 for a steak you expect to get it as it should be. Three of us had sticky toffee pudding which came with ice cream, last time I recall we came and we both had this and it was much larger piece and much more sauce and you could choose to have with ice cream, or cream. There was not much sauce and so not enough for the sponge and the sponge was not that large a portion and it was not the nicest sticky toffee pudding we have had either so disappointed again especially when paying £7 for it. One had chocolate fudge cake which did look nice but still think it was expensive for £7. The one thing we all said was horrendous was the noise in there, there was music playing and it was by no means background music, which in turn made everyone have to talk louder over the music to be heard and so the noise level got more and more till the point you were struggle to hear the person across the table. My son & girlfriend said they had been upstairs when they had come before and it was much quieter and much nicer and this was just really bad, If you are going to what you feel should be fine dining as the prices dictate this then you shouldnt feel you are in some sort of diner with music blaring out so you cant actually have a conversation over you nice meal out. Appreciate it is busy during the eat out to help out nights but there really is no need for music in a restaurant and if there is then it should only be as very slight background music. You come to a restaurant to eat with whom you have come with and to chat and enjoy each others company, If you wanted to go to a club then you would but this is a restaurant!

Came here with 3 friends who never been before and they loved it.Covid measures has been great, not much problem at all.Atmosphere was fabulous as always considering they have less tables for now.No starters this time as struggle last time and I wanted a desert. The Rump steak was delicious, especially having it on the hot stone, it does spit heavy once you get it so beware if your wearing your best top lolI got the chocolate sphere ball and what can I say, it was brilliant.Will be back again with my friends they want to come back.Staff was great and friendly, Michael Fay was wonderful, very chatty and made my friends giggle.

Surprise booking from my partner great place, service and staff very attentive, couldn't fault the the food, steaks cooked perfect. A bonus was a reduction on the bill...but would have been more than happy to pay full price, next time I'm in southport we will go again.....wel done

Steak was bland, chewy and dry with an awful lot of fat on. For the prices I at least expect a decent cut of beef or even a bit of seasoning would have been nice. The place is just a big gimmick and we won't be returning back in a hurry which is a shame as it has huge potential!

We visited recently to celebrate a birthday. We were seated quickly, and the lady serving us was friendly. Our drinks order was taken quickly, as was our food order. Starters were delicious - we had the crab taco and the king prawns. We chose the sharing stone for our main - it allows you to cook on the stone to your own preference which we enjoyed. Service had been great until we finished our mains (if perhaps a little rushed) when our plates had been cleared, we said that we would perhaps fancy a cocktail for dessert, but after waiting 25 mins, and no member of staff coming to ask if we wanted any desserts or cocktails, we had to approach the desk to ask for our bill (against their COVID rules) It spoilt what had a been a lovely meal. We had planned on booking into go again next week, but the poor customer service at the end of the meal has changed my mind.

Visited here on a family break to Southport and had the best meal out. Staff were lovely and the food was out of this world. Kids had the steak cooked on the lava stone which they thought was brilliant. We ate the steak mac & cheese and the hanging chicken kebab both of which were fantastic so tasty. Strawberry cheesecake and sticky toffee puddings topped it off nicely. Worth every penny.

Don't understand the negative reviews, the steaks on the lava rock are outstanding! The only negative is that you smell like you've been next to a grill yourself for hours cooking!

We frequently visit this restaurant, usually as a family of four with two young children and we never leave disappointed. Today’s visit was our first since before lockdown and whilst it was a different atmosphere we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.On this occasion we opted for the hanging kebabs (both the steak and the chicken), a burger along with the children’s fish goujons and the ‘bangers’. The food was cooked perfectly and served nice and hot. There may have been a slightly longer wait than we have had previously but we expected that with the new safety measures and we weren’t in a hurry so that wasn’t a problem.The staff are always friendly and happy to assist with whatever requests are made of them, we will continue to visit and just want to say well done to all of the team for adjusting so well in these unprecedented times.

The food was good, especially the starters. The service attentive. The hygiene could be better. Staff placed the cutlery by the parts that you eat from. Placed straws in drinks by touching the mouth part and set glasses with fingers inside. Then touching and moving masks throughout. Please review your set up, it’s really important.

We went here for a family meal whilst staying in Southport. The building is quite appealing, we stood awkwardly in front of the reception for about two minutes where no one spoke or made eye contact ( a little awkward). We were shown to our table and the staff were clearly very busy and the restaurant seemed to fill up all at the same time (not sure about why the booking times were not staggered more). Once served we had good food, the scallops were cooked to perfection. Steak was generally good with a choice of dipping sauces, though the blue cheese sauce was ‘jar esque’ and disappointing. Wine list was good and everyone enjoyed it. Atmosphere was nice, service was a little ‘edgy’ feeling like things were a little inconvenient. Not sure I would rush back but certainly delivers a standard grill experience.

Service was ok food was ok although my friend had a burger with bacon there was 2 cm of bacon on the burger very poor.

We haven't been eating out for a while due to Covid but decided to go back to The Firepit for a family meal. We were not disappointed. Even though the restaurant was very busy and the waiters and waitresses were clearly rushed off their feet everything was perfect. The restaurant is really clean - you can see tables and chairs being thoroughly cleaned when a group leave which was something I was concerned about. Our waitress was lovely, she could not have been more helpful. Even though the place was packed and she was clearly very busy she always came back when she could to see if we needed more drinks or anything else from the menu. Food was lovely (as usual). Steak cooked on the stone was perfect (just ask for a larger plate if the one you get is too small!) and the cocktails fantastic.

Where to start? This place has great potential and used to have a great reputation when it was previously known as the warehouse. We went for the £50 shared stone plate, a mixture of meats including filet and ribeye. The food came out incredibly quickly on hot stones so the meats continue to cook. The provided plates were very small so you’re forced to watch your food cook well beyond your preference if you like your filet on the rare side or completely fill your small plates (see attached picture). When the waiter put the food down we asked what meat was which and the response was staggering. ‘I’ve no idea’ and no attempt to go and find out, he just walked off. The meats were unseasoned and there was plenty of fat on a couple of cuts as seen in the attached picture. The highlight was the chips and dips, never have I said that when eating filet and ribeye. Unfortunately the waitress only asked if everything was ok 10 minutes after we’d finish. I pointed out they were on the bland side and asked if they are usually served unseasoned, guess the response. ‘ Oh I don’t know’ Clearly this establishment employ younger staff and fails to adequately train them so I don’t blame them at all. Overall a terrible experience, possibly my worst of the last 5 years. Would I go back, possibly as the place should be so much better but when you’re paying at the higher end of the scale you expect far better.

I had the 5oz sirloin steak on the stone and it was the best steak I have ever had and I’m in my 50s so I’ve had a few. It just melted in the mouth I usually get fed up chewing but I could have had more. My husband had the sirloin from the grill and he said it was perfect. The staff were very informative and attentive. Thanks it was all perfect.

Visited today, we ordered the chicken burger with no mayo, and a "on the stone" sirloin steak. The burger was good but would have been better if the bun had been toasted on the chargrill, chicken was real "not processed" so that was a bonus.The steak came on a nice hot plate, however it had only been chargrilled on 1 side not both so it didn't cook even on the hot stove, it also didn't come with any seasoning? When I order a steak, no matter the price I expect as a standard for it to be nicely seasoned while in the kitchen. The portion sizes are a little too small aswell, with the prices you pay, you could expect a little more on the plate. The chocolate fudge cake was just a bookers chef larder cake. Same old stale cake everywhere sells, nothing special.The creme Brulee was okay, not much to say about that apart from the fruit garnish didn't appear to have been washed. Service was great no complaint there, drinks were great too. The entire atmosphere is great, amazing when multiple sizling steaks come out.Left a tip and will be back sometime again.

We visited on 4th July (first night out of lockdown!) The food was amazing and the cocktails were superb!

I have never tasted steak like it, melts in your mouth. The prices are a little pricey but you certainly will spend your money well and will not be disappointed. Highly recommend this place !!

Nice place. Lovely food. Steak cooked just as required. Good friendly service. Desert did come to table not even warm (sticky toffee pudd). Sent back. Came back right.

Despite my 3* review, I did enjoy my food. I had sea bass which was served on noodles, the picture suggested it should come with veg but aside from a few slivers of chilli, there was no veg. It was tasty but considering how much noodles cost, my meal was very expensive. It was nice enough but I probably wouldn't rush back.
