Excellent food and service, very good value in a friendly and cosy environment, a big pub but feels warm and welcoming....

Often just pass by but thought we try and was please by a Great atmosphere and had a starter main and mini pudding was all very good the sea bass was cook to perfection will definitely be back would highly recommend tom was are waiter and he made sure all was ok tough out the evening

Pleasant surroundings and friendly staff. We were served by Emma. Have been here a few times and usually pleased with the food but very disappointed this time, the Steak and Red Wine pie looked great on arrival but unfortunately the meat was inedible, it was tough and couldn’t even be cut with a knife. Emma did relay our comments to the kitchen staff but no acknowledgment, a discount on the one meal would have been appreciated.

We visited on a Saturday night and enjoyed a pleasant meal—until the bill arrived. The restaurant offers a weekend set menu with 2-course (£25) and 3-course (£30) options, which should work alongside the regular menu. However, their system failed to apply the set menu pricing, instead charging higher individual prices (some not even listed on the menu). Our situation was slightly complex due to a "for two persons sharing" starter on the set menu, which led to two possible pricing options: 1. Three £25 set menus (£75*) 2. Two £25 set menus and one £30 set menu (£80*) To avoid confusion, I clarified with the waiter before ordering that we would be charged option 1. However, the bill reflected neither—it instead overcharged us using inflated à la carte prices. For instance, I was charged £38 for my starter and main instead of the £25 (or £30 under option 2). This meant the bill was 3. Two £25 set menus and £38 (£88*) When I raised the issue, the manager was completely unequipped to handle it. She struggled to grasp the problem, scribbled random numbers with a dry pen for several minutes, and ultimately declared, “It is £44*” without being able to explain why. At one point, she incorrectly claimed the bill reflected option 2, despite the clear overcharge. Even after explaining that I had confirmed option 1 with the waiter, she insisted on making me pay for their mistake. In the end, she removed an item from the bill but sarcastically said, “You’re welcome” as I left—after making my wife and kids wait in the car while she fumbled through basic math. I would have been fine paying the agreed amount. I would have even accepted option 2 pricing. But being overcharged and then dealing with incompetence and condescension left a very bad impression. *for brevity, I removed decimals and also removed the non set menu items from our bill.

Having read some previous & recent reviews I was so optimistic .. but Not good 😠 I don’t get it ?! don’t know what went wrong for us but won’t return been here several times early last year and said on my last visit “ never again “ it went down hill badly As the service and customer service was not good & meals very hit n miss and on some occasions awful , so I said id never return , but It was convenient to meet family here for Friday lunch around 12:30. & They had booked it . I was sure it would have upped its game ! And recent reviews gave me optimism The place was empty so no excuses !! But we still got substandard service and not very a nice lunch experience food not good . The waitress was un interested in serving us ! The one lady on the bar took an age to serve us it was NOT obvious we were not getting our drinks order taken at table so sat there ages as no one approach to say can you get drinks from bar ( it’s not a problem ) but what was the waitress doing ! Oh nothing when I sent a very burnt item back she was non apologetic and then brought me out something equally as substandard . my coffee was un drinkable the beer had a twang to it ! Did we complain ? .. tbh I don’t think Anyone would have cared if we had , so we left & in my case never to return. I noticed people on next table had left half their food & drinks too . the only thing I will do when in wendover is drive past and go straight to the boot n slipper up the rd . Great food & service there , Take note firecrest ! .

A lovely evening spent at the Firecrest! The staff were so amazing and attentive. We had my elderly mother with us so they found us a table which meant she didn’t need to walk to far and the manager just appeared with the key to use the ‘easy access’ toilet without being asked. The food was great along with the service! It was my first time of visiting the Firecrest and I was really impressed. Thank you to the manager, I believe her name was Amanda, who went above and beyond whilst being discreet!

A table for eight people booked and all turned up. Drinks and food orders taken and drinks served quickly. Not much of a Christmas spirit and we all thought crackers would have been a nice touch. Starters arrived, all good and hot but the King Prawn cocktail lacked flavour. However the pate was good. The mains all arrived at the same time. Turkey was warm not hot, vegetables had seen better days. One steak was over cooked and another just pure cristle and quite inedible. The food was disappointing bearing in mind the restaurant was not really that busy. The staff worked hard and were very accommodating. But unfortunately the food let them down.

Booked for our Dads 90th birthday with family and friends, Kelly and her team went above and beyond to put everything in place to make the meal special for our Dad. the tables were all set up with name cards and decorated the food came out quickly and was fantastic. thank Kelly and team we will be visiting again soon and recommend you to friends. xxx

Arriving without booking we were made to feel very welcome. After a glass of wine and chat by the fire we moved to the restaurant for our meal. We asked for a whitebait starter which was not on the menu. The chef kindly performed the miracle for us. We were served extremely well by the polite, cheerful and friendly Rhys. Overall, the food was really good and the relaxing atmosphere just what we needed. We'll be back!

Stopped for a late Saturday lunch after a dog walk in Wendover Woods. Staff very friendly, and made a real fuss of the dog. Food was really good, and the lovely old building has a very relaxing atmosphere. We're not local but we'll find an excuse to go back there one day.

I went with friends for a celebratory lunch, I had steak and chips which was only just warm, as was the last disastrous meal I had there a few weeks ago, which I did send back, I not like to send it back as I was with friends. Will not be going back there again.

Helpful waitress, an enjoyable meal in a nice environment. Will recommend and go again, we had not planned to go but decided to give it a try, a pleasant experience.

Always look forward to our meals at The Firecrest and today was no exception. Our waitress Sue looked after us very well as usual and our food was delicious. We look forward to our next visit in a few week's time.

4 of us had a 730pm reservation under the name Scott we arrived at 720pm and were shown to a table we waited more than 20 minutes before a waitress could be seen this waitress started to clear the table next to us and until I asked can we possibly get a drink she then took our drink order and then our food the two tables behind us were filled and immediately served drinks but we still waited a further 15 minutes before any drinks came in fact our starters arrived before the drinks came .my starter was the patty but when this arrived no toast only a slice of patty the main meal came but by this time our joyful mood had gone my guest that ordered a keg beer sent it back as was warm and undrinkable in all a total miserable Saturday night out and costing us £200 approximately as I didn’t pay so didn’t see the bill no tip was given I recommended this place to my guests to my regret really bad service can’t tell you enough how bad the whole experience was. We had been given a gift card for dining out. So we looked around and found the Firecrest it’s about 40 miles from home so we combined it with a drive out. We booked on line after looking at the menu it was very agreeable. We arrived just a few minutes before our scheduled slot. The staff greeted us as if we were regulars very friendly, polite and helpful and credit to the manager. We were shown to our table allowed to settle before ordering our drinks we also ordered our mains my wife ordered Pork Belly and I had Roast Beef. We both agreed that it was one of the best roast dinners we had ever had. The Chef had cooked it to perfection. I must admit I had the biggest carrot I have had on my plate superb flavour unlike anything I have had before. For desserts we had Eton Mess and Banana Choux Bun, again delicious. So all things considered I definitely would recommend the Firecrest just wish it was closer to home definitely worth visiting again.

We had a fantastic meal yesterday before going on to a concert. The food was tasty and well priced and presented nicely. The service was amazing. Particular thanks go to Charles, who served us. He was chirpy and pleasant and made our meal extra nice.

Good quality awful. Mac & cheese did not look or taste fresh. Cheese congealed in a lump on the top. Aubergine dish the same. Small portions. Luke warm. Used to meet here regularly as half way for friends. We’ve decided to go elsewhere now. Shame. It used to be great. Maybe new chef?

Service awful. Waiting time between courses long. A lot of food on menu unobtainable. Had to chase to order food. Wrong pizza brought to table so sent back and waiter returned with same wrong pizza. We had to insist on correct item being served. Had to chase bill which was overcharged then chase again to pay. Abominable. We were ignored by one member of staff when asking to pay etc. The Company is to blame for offering a discount then not providing enough staff or food. Such a shame.

Staff were very nice and welcoming and the food was nice but the service was so painfully slow (was there for over 2 hours) and there were items missing from or wrong on 3 of the dishes. Strawberry with the creme brûlée was mouldy. Wont be returning unfortunately.

An unexpectedly quiet and cosy venue despite being on a busy main road. Charming, eclectic and stylish interior, utterly delicious and reasonably priced food served by our waitress Sue, who is clearly a highly experienced member of staff. The service she and the team provided reminded me of all the excellent skills professional waiting staff were trained to have when I used to work in the business. We will be going back soon for sure!

Lovely lunch...on the advice of our waitress, had the macaroni cheese, and was pleased I did because it was delicious! Finished off with a drink and mini dessert, the creme brulee and enjoyed that very much too. Service from the team was friendly and attentive. Thank you team, but especially Lily. Last Friday, 26 January, we were a family group of eight, four couples…..we can’t get together as much as we would like. Three of our party, including me, ordered the sirloin steak @£19.99, two medium rare and one blue. When I finally managed to cut into my meat with the steak knife, it was so unbelievably tough, it looked like road kill….a very bloody mass of fat, gristle, sinew….it was so tough so I was unable to cut completely through. Sirloin steak, really? It’s the only cut of steak I cook on a regular basis. What was on my plate was nothing like sirloin steak. I was thoroughly put off and refused the offer of my plate returning to the kitchen. I made do with the chips with beef dripping gravy which were delicious. The side order of garlic mushrooms was a small ramekin half filled with button mushrooms covered with a gloopy roux….not very appetising. The other two people in our group who ordered steak both found their meat to be “just about tolerable but very chewy”. £19.99 was deducted from the final bill, thank you, but there was no gesture of goodwill, perhaps an offer of a dessert, as compensation for a special occasion which was completely ruined and no sign of a personal apology from management. I understand that things can go wrong sometimes, front of house staff were great, but this situation was not their responsibility. Such a shame!

Poor choice of beer, best was bottled Jaipur.No bottled tonic water, so from dispenser which was flat and no taste. Crockery not washed properly.The only thing positive was the service. Won’t be rushing back.
