Dined here recently while on holiday with friends. Two of us fish and chips which was more like fish jerky. Chips were fine. The other 2 in our party had pizza which they enjoyed. Otherwise, my rating would be a 2. Server was friendly and very accommodating. Would not recommend.

The food that me and my friends had was lovely and the staff are lovely too the beer 🍺 is lovely too the desserts at really lovely

Been trying to book a table for when we visit Edinburgh, in June. Keep getting message saying no availability. Sent them a form asking if there is an issue with their online booking system. Never received a reply.

First night in Edinburgh we popped in as we could see some seats free in pub and hadn’t pre booked anything. We were shown to a very small 2 seat table /chairs with other bigger tables/chairs almost on top of us. Staff also up and down by us all the time . We ordered brisket burger for us both and we were disappointed as it was just about lukewarm and had hardly any brisket on it. We ate it but we were hungry! The waitress asked if everything was okay I said I’ve hardly got any brisket on my brisket burger she replied ,oh it depends on what comes out! No offer to do anything about it. Wouldn’t return here bit cramped and our experience was slightly warm food with hardly any of the main ingredient it’s named after! Disappointed !

Very disappointed 😞 ordered two medium steaks and they were so dry and rubbery we couldn't stick a fork in it. Came with 2 cherry tomatoes and 2 sprouted salad strings. My nephew ordered fish, wasn't too bad but it came with a tea spoon size mushed peas and few chips only. My daughters burger was ok. Coke tasted like water. We only ate chips and two bites of our steaks and when water came to pick it up the plates he never asked how was the food or why the two steaks left on the plates and then dared to ask for some tips while paying by card. Cost us £66 for that

Went there twice, once in the evening for drinks only and once for lunch. Out waiter, young man, was very courteous and efficient. F Medium price point. Tasty food. Try the chicken or vegetarian wraps.

The Filling Station offers great customer service, food is lovely so much so we visited again the following evening. Great value for money!

I took a burger and it was delicious and there were big portions. I recommend it, it was a good price too.

The restaurant is set out lovely with plenty of space but the food and drink and service leave a lot to be desired. Upon entering the restaurant there was nobody to greet us at the door we store waiting for 10 minutes before someone came to seat us. When finally greeted we requested to be seated in the window only to be told we can’t be seated there and seating was all of 10 yards difference and even tho the building was empty we couldn’t be seated there. We sat down ordered our drinks only to be served a Guinness that was in a wet/dirty glass (showing the bubbles on the side). We ordered our food and I had the filling station double burger which was £19.50 and honestly the cost of making it could of been no more than £5, the burger was predominantly sauce soggy and horrible, my partner had a spicy chicken pizza that can honestly on be described as ridiculous the “chef” but soo many stupidly hot chillies on the top that nobody would have ever enjoyed it, overall I would highly recommend going elsewhere and avoiding this place.

Went to this restaurant due to it being based in a prime location. Huge restaurant and the fact that only two other people were there at 7:30pm should have been an instant alarm bell. Service was ok - food however was completely underwhelming considering the price. £20 for a burger that was nothing to write home about. Draught lager was served in a dirty glass. Really underwhelming experience and would not recommended this place to anyone. Stay clear !

After searching the royal mile for a place to grab lunch we discovered the filling station. Seated straight away ( with there being 6 of us this is often difficult) and food and drinks served within 15 minutes of ordering!! Amazing service. Food was delicious. Would definitely recommend and come back again.

Had the fish and chips it was just really bad. Chips were hard and both the fish and chips were just really unpleasant. On a good note the lady serving was lovely.

The starters : salmon and nachos were nice. The salmon although be it raw, was very flavoursome and the nachos were generous but salty. However our mains were not the best the beef brisket burger was underwhelming and McDonald’s would’ve been better, the bbq chicken...

Went for breakfast. Really wasn’t good. Everything is either really undercooked or overcooked. Defo go somewhere else.

We visit my son in Edinburgh fairly regularly and we always head to the Filling Station for a meal. The staff are fantastic, the ambience is great and the food is fabulous. If we stay in Old Town, it’s our go to place to eat!

Enjoyed our meal on a busy Saturday night. good choice on menu, a great atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive. (A bit noisy at the back of restaurant due to kitchen fans).

Drop in visit before 5 on a Friday. Warm cozy friendly place with professional helpful staff. Drinks order taken and served quickly. Same as food and was delicious. Perhaps for one of us the Mac and cheese was a little too dry for our taste....

Loved the food here. My husband had the pepperoni pizza and it was generously topped. I had the vegan burger which was delicious. Reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend.

My girlfriend and I went out for our first dinner since the lockdown was lifted and we picked the right place for it! From walking in to walking out the service was fantastic. I got the chicken and rib combo and my girlfriend got the nachos as a main, fair to say we were both thoroughly impressed! Special shout out to Arek who was informed I had a nut allergy and handled it perfectly as well as provided us with some good banter at the table to improve on an already amazing atmosphere! Really impressed overall for my first visit there and will definitely be back!

Walking down from the castle towards the Balmoral, feeling a little hungry, when we saw the Filling Station. We looked at the menu and liked what we saw, but across the street there was a Frankie and Benny's. We decided to try something new and go into the Filling Station, and I'm so glad we did.Price wise the two are similar, but everything else about this restaurant blows the American Italian chain out of the water. We were served by a lady called Asia, who was very accommodating and kind, helping make recommendations to us about what to eat. I decided upon the Roadside Sliders, three mini burgers from the menu served with chips and coleslaw, and they were gorgeous. Honestly I would highly recommend this establishment, whether solo, as a couple or in a group, this is definitely a place to visit.

Went to this restaurant on Saturday. Could not have been made to feel more welcome. The waitress was Asia and was lovely. Thank you also for the dessert it was goooood.

Got breakfast here the morning before our flight home. Great food, really filling and really reasonable prices. Julia was really nice and helpful.

We visited the restaurant as others were closed. Our server was called Jade was very nice food came quick and hot. We ordered a garlic bread and 2 burgers both amazing after we finished our mains Jade offered us desserts and we had a chocolate brownie and it came just as quick and was really nice once we finished we were offered tea or coffee. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Amazing customer service and amazing food! True American theme in the heart of Edinburgh, couldn’t be a nicer place.

We had a very pleasant evening. Our waiter Jed was very friendly and warm and took excellent care of us. Steak as well as burger and dessert were all generous and tasty. Nice American atmosphere.

We had a nice meal and experience at the rose street branch the day before and felt obliged to give a small tip. The staff were generally friendly here but the food wasn’t well done. The potatoes were getting cold and there wasn’t much salmon on my girlfriend’s salmon bagel. My cooked breakfast didn’t taste very good. They also didn’t have the 2 breakfasts for £10 deal which the offered in the rose street branch. When the waitress saw we didn’t want to add a gratuity she was less friendly. I’d go to the rose street branch for better food and a better experience.

The one beer that I wanted wasn't available, so settled for a Scarlet O'Hara mocktail, (very nice) I had a little taste of the Apple Mockjito, but wasn't impressed.For food I had penne pasta with meatballs, quite good and my partner had a regular burger with the cheese sauce. What spoilt our visit was a long single strand of brown hair was in the middle of the burger. The server apologised profusely and took it off the bill.Service is good here with charming female assistants possibly from Spain?

Expensive for very basic food and the staff are unfriendly tooI went here before heading to a show and as we went in it was almost like a massive inconvenience that we had asked for a table. We were promptly sat at a table beside the toilets and rushed to order our drinks and food. When the food arrived it was fine but definitely not worth the price tag. For two burgers and chips and a coke each it was £40 which is stupidly expensive for rubbish quality. Overall I can honestly say the experience and food means I will not be returning or advising others to go.

As the title suggests, the food is okay. The service is good though and toilets relatively clean. Very busy restaurant and maybe because of that, the food has lost it's soul and could be better. Serving sizes are definitely decent. Greens are brown in winter too apparently lol... (see photo).

This place has nice decor and is in a good central location near the castle. The waiter who served us was very polite and efficient and drinks were served promptly. However, things went downhill rapidly when the food was served. Four of us ordered burgers - very bland and overpriced at about 14 pound. My fiancé who's a chef in St Andrew's ate 2 bites of his and remarked that it was likely the lack of flavour was due to it being not homemade and cooked well in advance and reheated. One ordered fish and chips and it was dreadful, mushy, greasy and cold. We sent this back along with all the chips from the burgers as they were stone cold. The waiter replaced them with warm chips and replaced the fish - warm this time but still mushy and greasy. The total came to 87 pounds for essentially a bowl of warm chips each and some drinks which was severely disappointing.We left 10 pound for the waiter who was serving us because he was great and the rubbish cooked in the kitchen wasnt his fault. Would avoid at all costs if dining out in Edinburgh

We ordered four servings of soup the day, all of them showed up cold. We sent them back thinking they'd simply get warmed up, but no they go "back through the system" which seems to mean you have to wait as you would if you'd just ordered... A boy did we have to wait. Three eventually came back hot after the rest of our party had finished their starters. We eventually had to tell the waiter not to bother as it was simply taking to long and based on the feedback from those who'd got their soup, it wasn't worth the wait.The rest of the order included a very weak double gin, it literally tasted of nothing but lemonade. The service was slow, the drinks were weak, the food was average and the meal. Was ruined. However, I highly recommend the delicious Cajun chicken wrap.

do not order the most expensive rump roast... it is a jawbreaker.. fries soft and cold..onion rings wet and soggi... and I ordered bernés sause (disaster)... wipped from a cheap supermarket packet...) I did complain abaut the fries... and the servise was greatfull and braugth a dish og fresh and crisp in the end of the meal.. mentioned the gratitute.. and got 10%... did´nt bring the 2 scupes og ice cream that the kid menu promiced.. and we left dissapointed.... ps.. wife got drink served with paper straw... plugged and soft.. what the hell...

Large party of ten without the common sense to book ahead. Several places were just not interested but Filling Station went above and beyond to prepare to tables - separated but close enough - for us.Friendly, attentive staff, and the food was really, really good.....one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had, and my family who had a variety of stylish burgers were equally impressed!Treat yourself to a great burger or kebab!

went here when our 'b and b' offered cereal and instant coffee and was so glad i did with real coffee, good breakfast choices and service in a nice atmosphere.

YUCK!! The best thing about this meal was the strawberry in my drink. The food tasted awful and we were served by a waiter who initially was quite friendly but by the end of our meal was very rude and made us feel uncomfortable. Not a pleasant experience. Made us leave wishing we had eaten elsewhere!

Me and my partner ate here and the food was amazing, i had a meat feast calzone and its by far the best calzone I've ever had. The music was my kind of music which i enjoyed whilst eating amd the staff were really friendly. I love how you can pay on their website rather than have to wait for staff to come over. Great experience and i really recommend it

We found this restaurant when looking for somewhere for lunch. We received a lovely welcome and we were seated straight away.

Semi warm food of poor quality, very slow service despite not being at all busy, had meerkat buy one get one free but had to show the waitress twice as kept forgetting. Wouldn't return.

Called in on a Friday night without a reservation. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was typical American Diner style, and exactly what you should expect- burgers, chicken wings and ribs in a bbq sauce. All in all a fun family experience, the staff were lovely and welcoming and I would go back again.

I’m a bit on the fence with this one. There were some really good points about this place but also definite room for improvements.

I came here for breakfast on Tuesday morning with my friends, I’m allergic to dairy so I was scared there wasn’t going to be much for me to have, but after the waitress asked me if I had any allergies she gave me an iPad to have a look through and was very helpful. I have never had anyone ask me if I have allergies before so it’s nice to know that the filling station cares about their customers and their needs.

The waiter service was fine the food terrible and the price for terrible food is too much. A fast food outlet serves better food

I came here with my children on Sunday evening after we watched the Christmas light show, it was very busy in the restaurant but everyone was so kind and polite that we did not mind having to wait a little bit longer for our food! 10/10 service!

My food was stone cold. I got scrambled egg on bagels. Scrambled egg was over done and the bagel wasn’t buttered so it made for a very dry breakfast. They did provide me butter when I asked but the food was still cold. Drinks were very good however. Latte and hot chocolate were well presented and tasty. The waitresses were also polite and efficient. Not so good for breakfast but maybe their lunches are better!

Cold food, flat beer, pricey for what it is. But location was good for what we wanted so it was fine. One thing that was't fine was the toilets-really dirty with broken toilet seats- not good.

Once a month I meet up with all my friends for a cocktail night, we went to the filling station this month and we were not disappointed!! All the staff were absolutely lovely and the drinks were very pretty! Think we may be back next month!!

Me and my family came for my daughters birthday meal last week. All of the staff members were expecially friendly and one of the staff members kept my son from having a meltdown by talking to him and teaching him things.

I came up to visit my family, we decided to go to the filling station and are extremely happy we did. The server was very friendly and made a great attempt to keep my nephew entertained (which is a very hard task) will definitely come back again!

So...we got there, got a table and the service was fast and good and the staff really friendly. The restaurant was busy and quite loud, both because of all the people and the loud music.

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, with a fun mix of American rock, country, and jazz music playing in the background. Servers were very friendly and helpful, even allowing adults to order from the kid's menu, which had much cheaper and slightly smaller portions.

Comfortable with Good service and food at a reasonable price. Right on the mile so a nice place to stop to get a bite.

Good value for money... my food had clearly been under the hot plates for a while as it was dried up. The toilets were disgusting...which is never a good. The kids enjoyed their dinners and so did my husband. If your looking for relaxed...child friendly and good value then this us your place.
