Filling Station in Edinburgh, City of

Came in for some breakfast on our way to the castle. We greeted and seated immediately, the food was quick to come out and they had a good selection. We got the breakfast burger and sausage with potato tots. Food was okay, nothing special but good way to start the day for under £10 per person.

We ordered a pepperoni pizza, it tasted very good, all tought it was a tiny bit too thin. The service was great, the waiter was friendly and our food was served fast.

If there was zero stars, I would have rated zero, its that bad.

Awesome place on the royal mile. Sat outside and enjoyed a rare sunlight. Tasted local brew. Very nice experience. Will come back soon.

Solid American food, nice service. But above all a very fair children's menu. £6.90 for drink, main course and two scoops of ice cream.

Food and drink was slow to come to the table and the restaurant wasn’t overly busy. Ordered a mocktail, calzone and fries which came £21.15. I don’t believe that to be great value for money, so I was expecting fairly generous portion. Portion size was on the small size and the quality was just “ok”. Overpriced average food and I left disappointed.

Very nice place with a good atmosphere. The Highlander Burger is nice and juicy (definitely recommended). Unfortunately the selection of food and dish for kids are not perfect. My son's margarita looked like a drought with some ketchup and cheese. The service is top class always smiles and helpful. Big selection of drinks Thank You

went visited for a couple drinks and the cocktails are awesome! we talked to a nice gentlemen with pink hair who helped us as we are Canadian and got totally lost and gave some whiskey recommendations they have great cocktails and real scotch whiskey! :-)

Had the most lovely of Friday evening’s here, excellent food and attentive service from the manager Paddy. Highly recommend!

I already booked the tabel but when i came to enter the restaurant the one guy said we already closed the kitchen and me reservation was valid bad first experience with them.I don’t come again

Very good atmosphere. I got a lovely Mac and cheese that was served very quickly. Staff were lovely. Would recommend.

Very cosy interior with good, simple food at good prices.

One has to come and eat here. The staff is friendly and the food it’s marvellous. The place it’s huge. Very clean and has a lot of sport history on the walls. Food came surprisingly quickly and perfectly done Well done to all the team

Good place to have a beer in the middle of the afternoon, the only negative is that it closes at 9:00 p.m.

Place was great, food was great, drinks were great. We had fish & chips, it was absolutely delicious and so filling. Banter with the employees was the highlight. Natalia and Paddy were absolutely lovely individuals.

Food was great but the service from Paddy and Natalia was out of this world. If you are wanting a few laughs and good memories from the trip visit Natalia and Paddy.

Very nice, well-attended restaurant. The space will be assigned at the entrance. We ordered two 12 OZ steaks medium rare. Two steaks were delivered that were well done. After a complaint, two new portions were delivered to us. This time the meat medium was as ordered. A very classy and service oriented service. The service was very confident and very friendly in all situations. For this reason I would visit this restaurant again and again.

Average place with average food but charged at a higher price. Nothing to recommend here go elsewhere.

Popped in on a Friday evening for a meal. Got seated straight away. Food was amazing good size food. Great service and friendly staff.

Waitress was friendly but it was overpriced for what it was, and bland.

Beautiful establishment and generous dishes

Spur of the moment visit, around 12:15pm, was seated straight away. The wife had tempura fish & chips which she said was nice. I had the "bbq bacon & cheese dog" which was also nice - and about a foot long!

Quick lunch before Rugby. Good service and decent pub food. Club sandwich was good.

Its an American dinner. Been here on The Royal Mile for a good amount of years. That means, whatever they're doing, they're doing well. I'd say, great for kids, first dates, and mates. Not a romantic venue so much.

Great place to have lunch after walking tour along Royal Mile or leaving the Edinburg castle. Quick & nice service, delicious foods.

The food was of extreme poor quality with lack of substance. The nachos pizza was nothing but a thin base with tomato sauce, gaucamole and jalapenos, very little cheese. The mac and cheese was very plain with no garlic flavour as revered in the menu. The 6oz steak was very dry and very small (smaller than expected for 6oz) with very little sides. The desserts were even worse with very little ice cream offered on the ice cream float and the thickshake. The sticky date sandwich was granular, dry and dense with little date flavour. With such poor quality, it should not have been so expensive. For 4 people the bill was £108. The only redeeming quality was the nice waitress who served us attentively. But never coming back here again.

We dined at 5pm. 1 of 2 tables that were occupied. The food was ok, spoiled a bit by too much sauce. Would go back but only if no other option.

Booked a table here after seeing the reviews whilst on an overnight stay in Edinburgh. Really good service, all staff very polite and welcoming. Nice chilled out atmosphere. The food was great, my partners steak was cooked perfectly, my chicken wings and ribs were delicious. My young lad really enjoyed his burger (and they're a great size considering they're a kids meal!). Would definitely visit again when we return to Edinburgh.

Big Central Edinburgh restaurant. Conveniently located to Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street and Waverley train station.

Smashed avocado on toast was special and delicious. The combination worked well to boost up my appetite. 4 stars Royale egg just mediocre. Nothing special. 2 stars No queue time for table at 9am..serving within 10 minutes upon ordering

We were in Edinburgh for one night for my husband's birthday but didn't prebook anywhere to eat so we just went for a wander. When he saw the Filling Station he was keen to go in as he had been to one in past years in Stirling (I believe that one closed). I admit that I was a bit "meh" about it but as it was his choice we went in. Friendly greeting and busy atmosphere but still plenty of tables at 7:45pm on a Thursday. My husband chose the Filling Station double stack and I had the smoked brisket burger. Both came with fries and we ordered a side of onion rings and a side of salad. The salad was fresh, crisp and what you would expect. The onion rings were, to be honest, a bit bog standard. Think of your average supermarket onion ring in batter but they were fine. The burgers though... Well that's where the 5* review comes in! They were phenomenal. My husband is a bit of a burger fiend and he said he couldn't remember the last time he had a burger that juicy & that full of flavor. I had to agree with him. Mine was fantastic. It was finger licking delicious and worth every messy dribble down the chin! If I had one suggestion it's to ask for extra napkins before you tuck in!

We went on New Year's day at about 11am. We stopped at soooooo many places before this only to be told they're busy and waits were about 40 minutes. We walked up to The Filling Station and we're seated in seconds. Their service is lightening fast; we ordered and food came in 5 minutes. First, the staff is accommodating and kind. Second, the food claims to be American in spirit but was better than we make at home. Third, they're fast. Last, the pricing was more than fair. I had the Mac and cheese and it was beyond delicious, the serving was large... I couldn't finish. They gave me their recipe without hesitation. My husband had the brisket burger and raved about it. Also large and couldn't finish. If I lived here, this would be a regular stop!

Great place. Quite large inside. We had the Frito misto, halloumi wrap and vegan wrap. All delicious.

Tastes are great… love to eat in here. Highly recomended

Stopped in for a bite to eat whilst I was Christmas shopping. Food was good, tasty and as advertised, it wasn't overly busy and the service was prompt and pleasant.

Poor full breakfast, didn’t come with bacon or toast, asked for no black pudding but got that. Cappuccino was luke warm. The waiter was pleasant, and food arrived quickly but not good at all, dry and items missing.

It was pretty quiet which is unusual but it was a Sunday afternoon. Great friendly staff and the food was delicious and filling. One of the best burgers I've ever had!

2x hier gegeten de afgelopen dagen. Eten was goed. medewerkers ook vriendelijk. Maar wat we een beetje jammer vonden is dat terwijl ik eigenlijk nog bezig was met de laatste restjes Nacho's dit bord zo onder onze neus weg werd gehaald, gelijk onze hoofdgerechten onder onze neus werd geschoven😅 terwijl wij eigenlijk nog even wilde wachten met het hoofdgerecht.

Staff was very friendly! Food was okay, not super special, but I liked the pizza. When it’s very busy (as it was), there is a lot of noise so it’s not really cosy. However, we were happy we got a table after walking throughout Edinburgh on a Saturday evening without finding a table for 2 anywhere else.

Me and my partner went to eat here for lunch whilst on holiday. We just wanted to grab a seat and get a bite to eat and a drink. We had two pizzas which were good but a little oily. Waiter kept trying to upsell us with deserts and coffees and when we declined he rushed us to finish our drinks, pay and get out. The restaurant wasn't fully packed since there were plenty of empty tables. Our waiter LUCAS didn't even want to keep the change! We were better off getting a sausage roll from Greggs!

Normal overpriced city weak alcoholic drinks but the stars are mostly for their sparkling/seltzer water. Make sure you all then to flush it first otherwise it will taste and smell like a nasty sugar soda/pop/flavor.

Easy to pre book and plenty of places to sit. It is an italian American venue with much motorsport memorabilia. The menu is italian American. So burgers , mac and cheese is on there. We welcomed and seated, and the food came in a good time. The burgers were little battling a monster, and it packed a punch of a taste. Both meals came with 2 drinks to 55 uk pounds

Great spot in the middle of the Royal Mile

Just seem to be a restaurant now, shame as used to be a good pub too. Stood at an almost empty bar for 5 or 6 minutes, 2 staff behind bar, no one acknowledge so we left. Only another 2 people sitting inside with drinks.
