Whilst the service was fantastic and Jesus was friendly and professional, the food was absolutely poor. The whole experience lacked any flavour and as for the starter / they ran out of sourdough only to be replaced by cold French stick the with steaks being warm, accompanied with cold tomatoes. The fries were good though. Onion rings were frozen. This restaurant is all about the name / no subsence! Would not recommend it. Treat yourself to a beefeater or miller and carter instead. Atmosphere wise it was also 40% full.

If I could rate this zero I would. Kids Xmas gift for us so feeling sorry for them as well. Our bad experience last year just confirmed. Barren restaurant. Pre dinner drinks never arrived until my wife’s first course arrived…mine came 10 minutes later with an apology. They were ok. Main serving guy apologised and on ordering another drink gave us them free. Steaks arrived and half the sauce had been spilled onto the plate. Then we found that the steaks were cooked to order….but on the wrong plates. Never say the head waiter for ages and gave up waiting for bill and went to desk. Young girl had to try and get head guy for our bill. No way were we paying 10% service charge either. Mr Marco White should be appalled that this restaurant operates under his name. If I can find a way to contact him directly I will. Avoid and head to McDonalds…..

Very poor meal last night, Valentines night! Restaurant very cold, no atmosphere. Waiter turned on mobile heater but really didn't help, I had to sit with large scarf over my shoulders! Prawn cocktail starter, the prawns were very very cold so most of it uneaten. Both our fillet steaks were very poor quality so much so that cost of one was deducted from our bill. I might have understood if the restaurant was busy but very few people there. Going there was after receiving gift vouchers at Christmas, one of which we still have to use. Hopefully on our next visit we enjoy it!!

I would love to review the food but I was unable to eat here! I booked online, where the final screen errored and no email confirmation was received. I tried to call the restaurant to confirm the booking - the Hilton reception tried to put me through but no one answered. Reception said I would get a call back - I didn’t. I then wanted to change the time anyway, so emailed the restaurant directly. No reply received in two weeks. I called again - still no answer. I explained the issues to the Hilton receptionist who was friendly, and said she would speak to the restaurant to confirm the booking, and someone would definitely call me back. They didn’t. As I couldn’t confirm whether I was booked in, despite my best efforts, I took my custom elsewhere and had a lovely meal. Needless to say, I won’t ever bother with this or another MPW restaurant again! If the booking process is so incompetent, I can only imagine the standards within the restaurant. What a waste of time.

It’s bad when a steakhouse doesn’t do steak well! I was served a cold fillet of steak and prawns initially. I mentioned to the waiter and in fairness a new one was brought out, but now I’m served a bad cut that’s cooked well done (ordered medium)! Chips were also undercooked. Myself and my wife ended up eating our meals at separate times due to this (her fish and chips was good). Atmosphere is non existent, just a standard hotel lobby style restaurant. Disappointed as we have been to many Marco Pierre restaurants, and the ones in Dublin for example are always exceptional. Staff were friendly and tried to help but lacked the passion of the staff we normally experience in a Marco establishment. Massively underwhelmed here unfortunately.

We visited here 6 years ago and it was the best meal I had ever had. Visited this evening and it was awful. The food was cold, bland, oily and my steak was over cooked and my wife’s undercooked and had to be sent back. The service was slow however the staff were very polite. I will not be returning anytime soon

I was staying at the Hilton Hotel the restaurant is attached to and decided to eat at the restaurant for convenience after travelling all day. I arrived and I was seated at a table against a pillar that had food splatters on the paint work. I proceeded to order a Mac'n'cheese and the Fish and Chips from the mains menu due to a 50% off offer, with the Mac'n'cheese being a starter. The portioning was initially incorrect when delivered to my table, although the waiting staff happily provided me the other half with additional garlic bread. However, during the service, fellow diners and I had spotted a rat in the dining room, but this was not addressed by the staff. Afterwards, my main arrived with the fish being overcooked and having a weird 'musty' taste. Staff happily allowed me to exchange the meal for another, although charged me for the other meal rather than offer the meal at the same price as the other. The next dish, the Roast Lamb, was lovely but took longer than the wait staff suggested. During the entire meal the atmosphere was dry and the staff could improve communication with customers and handle pest complaints more sincerely. This was not the level of service I expected with a restaurant affiliated with Hilton and Marco Pierre and I hope this improves soon.

Firstly, my 2 star rating is no reflection on the service, the service was excellent, Jesus and the team really welcomed and looked after our party. The food was disappointing, most of the steaks the menu were not available due to a supply issue, not a great start when visiting a premium steakhouse. Some of the dishes we received were good but there were some low points. The beetroot & goats cheese salad lacked any creativity or wow factor. Fondant & jus on the chicken main course were cold. Biggest disappointment were the side of onion rings we ordered, I had expected better than frozen onion rings from a local supermarket.

Marco pierre white restaurants always deliver exceptional food and service! Myself and my family stayed at the Pear tree inn situated in South England a few years ago, drinks and food were outstanding and in 2019 we dined at his Nottingham restaurant again the food and service knocked the ball out of the park! So to Edinburgh and again another top result for so, so tasty food and portion sizes fantastic. Our waiter "Jesus" looked after us SO well. Mr White keep on doing the same service and quality we will return!!

Terribly second anniversary experience. Drinks took 30 minutes to come out. Server said bar was busy, but others who were sat after us received theirs, so probably just a forgot to ring it in. Which is fine… accidente happen. When drinks came out they were wrong. When food came out, i had asked for a steak medium well. I receive medium rare so sent it back. When it can back again, it was cooked well down at the one spot I originally cut into it, but medium rare everywhere else lol. I couldn’t stomach sending it back again. Our meal was comped, so they tried. But I wouldn’t recommend, especially for an “occasion” meal.

For our one night stay in the Hilton we decided to treat ourselves and we were not disappointed. This is an unpretentious restaurant, the food and wine choices are great, the servings good and the service excellent. The meal wasn't rushed, there was a nice spacing between our 3 courses and it made for an enjoyable evening and experience. Would happily recommend and come here again.

I don’t leave many reviews these days but WOW had to come and review this place. The service was incredible. I put a note on my reservation that it was my partners birthday. We received two free glasses of champagne and a birthday dessert. The food was brilliant, we both ordered steaks and they were cooked perfectly. This was our first time visiting and we can’t wait to return! We have bought gift vouchers for family’s Christmas for this place now as it was just so good.

Greeted warmly by the guys at the front desk. Our disappointment is mostly with the female server. I dont know if she was nervous or just started, but she got my drinks order wrong - ordered J20 and nearly got beer instead. Asked for chips, I got salad instead. But another guy took my dish away and returned with my chips instead. I had asked for a smaller portion as a main course as I dont have a big appetite, but the female server didnt understand me so I took the main course instead. Couldnt finish it and felt bad (thats why I wanted a smaller portion) No we would not eat here again and I would not recommend this place to my friends. I would prefer to eat at Gordon Ramsay's place again.

the restaurant was out of filet, which is what I initially wanted, and was surprising for a steakhouse. they were also out of the whisky we wanted. I ordered the sirloin medium rare, and the steak came out a rare, almost raw. it was also under seasoned. my husband ordered the prawns with ribeye, and while his steak was cooked well, it was not seasoned well. both steaks were very bland. the bernaise sauce that came with his meal was more the consistency of a compound butter, rather than a sauce. to top it all off, we noticed a mouse Crawling through the dining room. we did notify our server, and it seemed like the staff did not do much if anything in regards to removing the mouse from the restaurant, and blamed it on the renovations to the hotel. Definitely not what we expected from a restaurant owned by a Michelin star chef. incredibly disappointed.

I didn’t think it was possible to mess up literally everything during a 2 hour meal in a high-end restaurant, but, apparently it is. Our food was barely warm, we got the wrong drink order, we had to wait 40 minutes after arriving for water to be brought to us, the waitress spilled a drink on our table and started giggling to herself as she cleaned it up (that was quite a strange reaction…), each drink order took about 15 minutes to arrive and the steak wasn’t cooked right (sent it back and it was still cooked wrong when it was returned). The only one who was not inept was Adam - he was very professional and genuinely done his very best in the bad circumstances he was given, but unfortunately the place was a sinking ship and one man cannot run an entire restaurant by himself. The rest of the staff were a complete and utter joke, and visiting this place tainted our holiday to Edinburgh. Quite possibly the most inept establishment I have ever visited, and judging by the other reviews I have now seen, Marco Pierre should be embarrassed to have his name associated with this place.

The meal was lovely but when it came to payment, my partner asked to add a tip on to the total to which the waiter gladly did. It wasn't until after we had paid that my partner took the receipt out to sign and found that a 10% tip had already been added that we were also charged VAT on. This part of the receipt had been tucked under the sleeve it came in. We have no issue leaving a tip, we do have an issue with being told a tip is being taken, being charged VAT on it and being allowed to leave extra with no problem when we had clearly not seen this.

I ordered a steak well done, it was crispy on the outside and red raw on the inside. Waiter dropped bottle of unopened wine on the table and walked off. None of our used plates or cutlery were removed. I had to shout across the room at a waiter to get his attention and ask for water. It was the worst experience I ever had in a restaurant and we were charged a service charge for zero service. Go anywhere else but here.

Although it was very convenient to eat here because it was in my hotel, I wouldn't recommend anyone to come here unless they had a lot of time on their hands. The food overall is good but it's the service that's the problem. The woman who served us was very nice, but she would take much longer than expected on everything. We waited about 10 minutes for our drinks to come out, about 40 minutes for the food, and I had to get up and ask her for the check because I found her standing at the Hostess stand even though she knew we were done. I have nothing against our waitress as a person, but the servers here need to be more aware of their customers.

We chose this place because it had something for everyone. However, we were very disappointed. It was completely overrated, overpriced and the food was just meh. Each drink took 30 minutes to get to our table, they never refilled our water and our cocktails we just ok—Then the bread basket was not complimentary (granted it’s a steakhouse—so really?) They brought us a bowl of olives we did not order and thought came with the bread and they charged us for that as well. My husband’s steak was delicious but my son’s was just ok. My daughter had Mac and cheese which look like as big as a side and she said is wasn’t great. My scotch egg was extremely bland and I had better in the states. Overall-pop into any nearby pub (Biddy Mulligans!!) and the food is fabulous at each place and a whole lot cheaper. This place was not worth it!

We have been to another marco pierre white restaurant but where very disappointed with the meal we got last night. Service and drinks lovely but the with steak meal felt very cheap. Oven like chips basic onion rings, not vine tomatoes like the meal said a breakfast like tomato which was cold. Peppercorn sauce was very watery and not creamy. Overall meal cost £115 for 2 people and did not meet this cost. I can't believe I am saying this but felt like a weatherspoons meal. Steak was higher quality but I asked for medium but was more rare than medium rare. Can't see us coming back

It’s clear that MPW doesn’t visit. Seated without menus. Received them 20 minutes later. Sat another 20. Drinks were ordered. Drinks arrived 20 minutes later. On and on like this. It was like someone had set a timer and servers couldn’t come back until it rang. Food was good, but ordered steak with giant prawns, no prawns on plate, and had to come separately. Table behind us had server knock over wine glass. Two hours and 50 minutes for wine, main and dessert. You’ll guess that the restaurant was slammed. Unfortunately there were never more than six other tables occupied. Sad state of affairs.

Our daughter and son-in-law gave us a voucher for Christmas, so we dropped in one midweek evening. Very attractive restaurant with some booth seats. We opted for the calamari and Scotch egg as started - delicious. Had two rib eye steaks - rare with Koffman chips and macaroni cheese - again very tasty. Finished with Blue Monday cheese and classic cheesecake. Not used to eating three course meals any longer so felt stuffed! Great wine choices as well. Would recommend.

My wife and I came down from our hotel room for dinner and were sat immediately at 7:49pm. At 8:07pm I went up to the host stand to inform them that no one had been to our table yet and that we also do not have menus. The host brought the menus to our table finally and returned at 8:11pm to take our drink and appetizer orders. Our drinks came out quickly at 8:16 and we ordered our entrees. They brought us bread at 8:26pm and our calamari arrived at 8:30pm. Our dinner does not arrive until 9:20pm and by 9:42pm we had to flag someone down to ask for our check. Almost two hours and most of it was spent waiting and neglected. The host informed us that they were swamped with room service orders but that didn’t seem to effect the wait staff in the dining hall. The restaurant has a lot of potential and I hope they’re able to resolve these issues in management and staffing. If it was a busy weekend with a wait or a fully sat restaurant I’d understand but there was just a significant lack of presence of care for the guests in the dining area. I could tell the person acting as host was handling a lot of different duties and was probably stretched very thin however the other dining room staff looked very casual and unbothered and could have done more to help the host of to show care for their guests. As far as the food is concerned. It was prepared correctly but very bland. No flavor or spices. I’d compare their steak to the steaks you’d receive from an Applebees in the US. With the name of the chef attached to this restaurant I honestly expected more. I worked in the industry for a number of years and am very understanding of the delays and issues that can occur. However the lack of communication or concern is inexcusable for a restaurant that is trying to portray itself as high end. I hope they are able to improve and grow.

Calamari was so rubbery and hard it was practically inedible, and the french onion soup was watery and very greasy, definitely not how its supposed to be. Chips and burger was good, and so was the mac and cheese. Staff were nice, kind of awkward but I guess most people are. The chips were horrid, the steaks were undercooked and the spinach was too salty. Oh, and they'd replaced the sourdough bread with a cheap sliced up baguette. Apparently it was because they'd had a lot of walk ins...? The service staff were great, but the food was barely edible.

The food was good, the service is another matter. Service was slow they forgot my wine, had to flag someone down to get some water. I ordered coffee and dessert, which I never got. Waitress came to see if we were done, not remembering that I had ordered dessert. When to the kitchen to check and came back saying there was a misunderstanding, which I took as she forgot to put in the order. Finally, I gave up on dessert and asked for the bill, which included the wine I never received.

Awful experience. Was so looking forward to our meal whilst staying at the Hilton for a couple of nights but the restaurant had no atmosphere, the staff were pleasant but really not that professional or experienced. The food was awful, I could not eat mine. So very disappointing

Food was just OK. Was surprised that we were charged a service charge as the service was pretty terrible. I can understand a service charge on large tables but there were only 2 of us. Not sure I would return here. The Marco Pierre White in Liverpool is leaps ahead of the Steakhouse Bar & Grill in Edinburgh.

Very disappointed!! Website said open until 10 pm. Got there 8:45, waited for hostess to seat us, close to 10 mins, then she told us (rather rudely after she checked with cooks) we needed to order quickly. We knew what we wanted be evaluate we looked at the menu while waiting to be seated. Another 5 mins passed, waiter brought our water & we asked if we could order with him. Waited at least 20 minutes for the food. One other couple there drinking. My burger bun was completely burned, mac & cheese was cold & steak unseasoned & subpar. Very disappointed. Exhausted from sight seeing, the next night we ordered room service....horrible again. Hoped it would be better. Waited 1 hr. for pizza & a salad. And never brought drinks. Outstanding hotel & staff, but go elsewhere for food!!

Complete disappointment! Our severs were great but the food was not... to put it lightly. Had my family of 8 for late dinner, we are staying here at the Hilton and figured it would be nice to not have to go out... wish we had now. Not a single steak was good or even cooked correctly. My fillet was under cooked and everything else, ribeye and sirloins were over cooked. It was late and everyone was starving so we just ate what we could. One of the worst "steakhouse" steaks I have ever had. We would have got up and left right after the food hit the table if we were not starving and out of other options. 300 plus pounds for dinner and it was garbage, flavorless, under and over cooked steaks, not even the the salads were good. I don't like writing reviews like this but there was no manager for us to complain to, just our poor servers doing their best. No idea who Marco Pierre is but there is no way he would not be appalled at the quality of the steaks we were served using his name.... complete disappointment and unacceptable, I had to write this. 2 stars rather than 1 because the servers were nice and the setting comfortable but the food was terribly cooked and flavorless.

Our initial server, Kym, was absolutely fabulous, excellent at her job, but after her shift ended no-one tended our table for over an hour. The afternoon tea was good, the environment is clean, spacious with nice design. However, the service post Kym, was awful and we decided to leave. In no hurry to return.
