The food is delicious! We liked the Latin atmosphere and the cozy place.

Latin food, a mix of several countries, of course I ate a very delicious Paisa tray.

This place is ok. The food is hit and miss with the menu trying to do a range of Latin American dishes and then randomly also some Spanish ones. The pan de quejo for example was dry and stodgy, while the pasteles were actually really nice. Avoid the torresmos which are not freshly made but instead tasted like they were served from a packet. The beer selection could be improved and the cocktails are not bad. Prices not my favourite but it is George Street after all. The servers were nice but the food took far too long to come out and came one at a time - as a party of 7 that was painful as we had to watch each other eat and wait over 30 mins at some points for others’ food. I understand it was just one person in the kitchen but we pre booked and it wasn’t great.

Popped in for lunch to try some authentic South American cuisine. The owner was so friendly and loved to talk about his story and the food. Ordered the Bandeja Paisa, amazing is all I can say. The egg and rice. The flavours and juices from the beef, chicharron and Chorizo. Now I no longer have to travel to London El mejor del Mundo I will absolutely be back for more

We were wondering what to have for lunch and we found this hidden gem. I had a feijoada and my mother in law sancocho. Both were really good. Cameron, the guy who waited for us, was corteous and funny. We would love to come back!

While it was quiet when we there, that meant our host (who I took to be the owner) was most diligent, friendly and attentive. A wonderful place with excellent food.

Leaving the Scottish National Portrait Gallery we were looking for a place, without too many pretensions, to eat at midday. We got here by googling and...surprise! A basement place but really nice. The guy who welcomed us was very nice, the place was empty and he put us at the only table flooded with sun. We ate very well and discovered new flavours. I pointed out that the hot sauce wasn't spicy enough for us, and he brought us a "secret" flavored oil with green and red chilies, the kind you use to trigger a thermonuclear reaction, and it was... actually at the height. I hope to return here one day.

I came across this place by chance on my only day visiting Edinburgh and I'm so glad I did! For starters I got the Bolinho de Feijoada, for the main I got Moqueca and as a take away dessert I got Carrot cake. The serving size was very generous and the taste was simply spectacular!

We were wandering around and came upon Baruno by chance. We had a 3 “small plates” and a some cocktails. All delivered by amazing and friendly staff. The owner was great and it was lovely to hear about the bar / restaurant from him. The music was at an enjoyable level for us. It was a great atmosphere. One brilliant part was the ladies toilets, beautifully planned. The whole place just had a great vibe about it. It we lived in Edinburgh would definitely go again and again. Loved it!!!💃🏼🕺🏼

This is the new go-to place in Edinburgh! ❤️💃🕺 Even though it was a Monday night, Baruno had organised one of the city’s best Latino DJ. The drinks were really good, and best served with the owner Camron taking the time to explain his concept of Dine, Drink , Dance to us. Go see for yourself, I‘ll be back on Sunday for the brunch!

My family and I really enjoyed our experience at Baruno. The owner Cameron was very friendly and accommodating to my family and I. We were visiting from Orlando and found one of the best authentic Latin restaurant options around. We hope Baruno will continue to thrive and we thank Cameron for the experience.

Baruno Latinamerican restaurant in Edinburgh offers an authentic taste of Colombia that truly impressed me. The dishes were rich in flavour, and every bite brought me back to the comfort of home-cooked meals. The empanadas, in particular, were outstanding—crispy on the outside and filled with a perfectly seasoned mix inside. It’s rare to find a place that captures the true essence of Colombian cuisine, but Baruno absolutely nailed it. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a genuine Latin American dining experience in Edinburgh! Oh I forgot about the music... It was the best I have listened to in a while!

We left a show at the fringe in George street at 9.20 pm expecting the local restaurants to be catering for late comers, but no, all the kitchens seems to close at 930. Happily we found Baruno, and what a find. Really good , tasty food, the owner was great and very welcoming. THANK YOU

We really recommend it! We ordered bandeja paisa that we did not eat it for a long time ago and it was really good. Best food since I been here drink are amazing the waiter nice and handsome.

Food was cheap and fine. Service was good and interior was fun. Can't speak to the individual cocktails, but the humongous drink jugs that supposedly can feed 6 people each have barely any alcohol in them. Myself and partner drank 2 of humongous ones between the both of us and neither of us even felt tipsy. Waste of 60 quid for some juice.

Great place with a fun, summery atmosphere. The cocktails were amazing and the gluten free Candy Big Cheeseburger was fantastic! Would highly recommend.

Food was lacking on the dirty fries too hard and oily couldn't finish it. But everything else was good. Cocktails are nice, but would love it if the size or quantity of the drinks were bigger for the price of a small glass of £6.

I went to candy bar yesterday after hearing about it from a friend and it didn’t disappoint! The staff were very welcoming as soon as we walked in and very helpful. We got served by a boy behind the bar called Jamie and he was amazing at helping us. I’m quite picky when it comes to drinks but he took the time to ask me what I usually like in cocktails, and then ran through the menu giving me suggestions on what might suit what I like. Jamie was very helpful and patient, and even tho it was fairly busy he did make us feel like we weren’t rushed. Would 100% recommend anyone to come here that is looking for a reasonably priced, fun cocktail bar in Edinburgh.

I decided to have a drink here with a couple of friends last night where a lovely Barman called Jamie served us and was so friendly and had a welcoming smile. I wasn’t very sure what I wanted to drink and he gave me a few recommendations as I fancied a cocktail. He looked happy at his work and nothing was any trouble. I would definitely come back here. Came here with a few couples for the quiz, unreal night as usual and to make it much better food was actually insane, unlimited wings for £12.99 is so good got like 30 wings in total that tasted so fresh and good quality. KYLE was a beautiful bar waitress that was so lovely and welcoming that made sure we were okay for drinks every 10 mins or so! Defo recommend. And KYLE was so accommodating and polite

I came here with some friends for a couple of drinks and the experience was amazing. I don’t drink much and Jamie that was working behind the bar was extremely friendly and helpful when it came to me ordering, he took time to ask me about different cocktails he thought I would enjoy after telling him the alcohol I like to drink. He made all our experiences here more enjoyable and entertaining while keeping a high standard of professionalism and respect about himself.

Could not recommend candy bar enough! After being welcomed ant the door and shown to our table by a lovely host. We were then greeted by a lovely bar man by the name of Jamie. This young man was extremely pleasant, welcoming and couldn’t have been more patient or understanding with us. He ran us through the menu and how to order. He gave us time to read over and think about our choices. After disclosing we had an allergy within our party he gave us several alternatives and recommendations for drinks we would enjoy. As well as doing his best to accommodate to our needs. The atmosphere within candy bar was exceptional , music was good along with the overall vibes of customers enjoying themselves. One thing you are guaranteed at Candy Bar is service with a smile and staff always looking to make your experience the best they possibly can. Again can’t thank Jamie enough for making our experience so great and making our drinks to exactly the standard you would expect and want! Will definitely be back for some more fun fruity cocktails!

We came here to do the quiz and have some food and Kyle helped us with everything. She made our experience so fun and was such a joy to speak to.

This was a birthday treat for my daughter and I as my daughter had been a few times and loved it, hence why we decided to go. We ordered nachos to share, it was a small amount if cheese, salsa,and sour cream on them, and to many burnt nachos under neath pile. Then we'd ordered the chicken wraps which you make up yourself! First to come out was a small side plate, with a tea spoon measure of cheese, salsa and sour cream in tiny pots. Then 2 x very small wraps, then the chicken.!!!! I said to my daughter is that even an adult meal. It is more like a child 's portion. It was not nice at all. Chicken was tasteless. Then the bill came with a £4 service charge which I do not agree with. The service was not great and we were the only dinners in at that point. My daughter had said there was no way the portions were that size. 😕

Myself & my fiancée came here for dinner and drinks and we were both shocked at how dead it was for 5pm (granted it was a week day, but considering how hard it used to be to get a table). We ordered the blue lagoon cocktail tower (£25 for 8-10 drinks), unfortunately we think we were given the venom cocktail tower, however it was actually quite nice. In addition to this I had a monster under the blue lagoon cocktail and which was lovely and my fiancée had a blue hawaiian which she wasn’t a fan of due to the consistency. In terms for food we ordered 2 for 1 pizzas (pepperoni & garlic bread with mozzarella) these were nice and very hot. We also ordered salt and chilli chips which were coated in what seemed like Chinese five spice and made them very bitter and powdery (the actual chips were nice just the seasoning was too much), and lastly we ordered chicken tenders which were nice and cooked well. Overall the food was good, however if we were to go back we would ordered some different things. For all that we ordered it came to £61 which we thought was very good value for money. The staff working seated and took our order really quickly and service was fast too. We noticed when we were in that they run a Wednesday night pub quiz which I am sure we will we back to take part in 😊

Updated! I have updated my service stars as the team did read my comment (below) and reply to me regarding the issues I had on the day, this shows they do care about their customers. Wouldn't recommend. we were here on Saturday night and waited 50 mins for our food, the food wasn't anything special to talk about and the music was way to loud. I had the dirty bird burger which on the menu sounded great but in reality it really wasn't. The chicken was dry and barely half the size of the bun, the cheese was just cheap square cheese and the chips were too salty. Wouldn't waste your time going here, the only reason I have given a 3/5 on atmosphere is because the rugby was on. Won't be back. Hopefully this review can help the venue improve.

The cocktails were nice but had about 3 mouthfuls of liquid in them. They tasted like they were just full of juice and ice, no alcohol. Majority of the staff were extremely rude and clearly couldn’t be bothered. A few times they’d rather stand and flirt with each other while holding our already made drinks. The place smells really weird too. I wouldn’t have paid the service charge if I’d had realised it had been added on.

Came for a 24th birthday and the bouncers told us upon arrival we “didn’t fit the look” they were going for and we weren’t getting in. They didn’t even bother to check anyone’s ID which was disappointing considering the youngest person in the group was 20. Had a booking and had paid a £50 deposit and still weren’t allowed in. It’s a shame as I have been previously and had no issues when with a group of girls and all quite drunk but as soon as we go with a group of mostly boys and have barely drank we are turned away. Comes across quite creepy! Wouldn’t recommend and definitely won’t be back.

Lack of knowledge on behalf of staff was shocking. Was told that my step son could not have a beer with his meal as he had no ID Clearly allowed in restaurants. Even waitress said he could have a beer with his meal but not a cocktail. Doorman agreed however manager said nothing was allowed as he was under age. He's 18. When making the booking I was told it was a restaurant but manager said it was a bar. Know your product before you sell it!! And decide what it is before you mislead people. Very disappointing wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We booked for an office dinner early in December! The service was really slow and poor. We booked in advance and knew we had a 2 hour time slot however the service was so slow that we were still finishing our food when they told us they needed the table back. It took 75 minutes to receive any food at all! We wanted to order desserts but were not even offered as the next table had arrived! We understand there are staff shortages, we work in the hospitality industry ourselves but if you don’t have enough staff to service a medium sized table (seven) then extend the time period. We also only had 2 rounds of drinks in the 2 hours due to slow service! The food was good which is why they got 2 stars!

Came here with my son and partner and was very disappointed with the service as although my son is over 18 without his Id they would not serve him a beer or wine with the meal which is clearly legal in Scotland as we was having a meal anyway. Very disappointed won't be coming here again !!!

This place has a lot of hype and I was excited to try it! We went for lunch, upon entering we were greeted with a smell of what seemed like BO (which almost made me turn around and leave and I wish we had). We ordered two pizzas and two pints. Now I love pizza, I’ll eat bowling alley pizza, but this was so bad we had to send it back. Not only was it overly sweet, there were some mysterious flavours which really didn't belong in a margarita (like something hadn’t been cleaned properly in the kitchen). Also, the pints tasted like spoons - they were two different beers; one of them was okay, but one tasted like line cleaner. It was very metallic. We didn’t send the beers back because we already felt bad about the pizzas. Staff were very nice about it - they seemed a bit done with the place and weren’t at all surprised about the food. This might be a slightly unfair assessment as it is a cocktail bar and we didn’t get any, however before the pint I tried to order a few cocktails to be told they didn’t have the ingredients. Overall the place was sorely disappointing. I’d avoid this place for food, but maybe the cocktails are good if you can grab one.

We had a wristband for cocktails. Drunk two of them. They were rather poor quality so left and went to better cocktail bars. Waste of money. The large one was no better than wetherspoons. Service pretty poor yet staff choose to add 12.5% for a tip without asking.

Arrived around 9 on a Sunday, which was acceptable given the time, but the place was empty. Unfortunately, they didn't have the drinks we wanted. We ordered wings, chips, and a burger, but my burger was incorrect, and the wings weren't the Jack Daniel's variety we ordered. Instead of complaining, we just removed the service tip since the kitchen was closed. The lone barman appeared disinterested in both being there and doing his job. Accurate orders are crucial for customer service; improvement is needed for better tips. While the food and drinks we received were okay, the overall experience makes it unlikely for us to return.

Pretty grim tbf. Decent beer, poor food. Pizza tasted like desert, so sweet. Everything seemed frozen or bought in. Didn't taste the burgers - maybe they're OK. My wife's halloumi salad was hilarious - a massive pile of lettuce and onion with some packet frozen n deep fried halloumi sticks thrown on. Go and have a drink, the staff were lovely.

Myself and a group of friends booked a table here for a 30th birthday celebration and we all had a fabulous time. The staff had informed us when we arrived that they were short staffed that night, however you would not have known as they were very attentive to our table making sure to come round often to take drink and food orders. The staff are always polite and an absolute pleasure to interact with. We did an itemised billing system and the girl at the till was very helpful and patient as we all went up to pay for what we had individually and we very gladly left tips. Thank-you so much for a wonderful time and we will definitely be visiting again soon!

Visited for the Edinburgh Cocktail Week with a few friends. We were served by Matthew and Mark who made us some delicious cocktails. Overall felt very welcome and the atmosphere was great, will definitely be back!

This is the third time I’ve been to candy bar because prices can’t be beat. The food and drinks are great value for money. We arrived late and I called ahead to let them know and they were still very welcoming and we still got our table no problem. We weren’t offered any napkins with our food which normally I wouldn’t bother about however we also had no cutlery as the food was easy to eat with our hands which I don’t mind at all but definitely needed a napkin! We were given the wrong bill at the end but none of us even noticed and the staff quickly rectified it letting us know it was the staff members first week which is totally understandable and as I said we didn’t even notice. Overall a great visit, good food and exceptional cocktails!!

We went with my sister yesterday to have a meal as we have visited the place last year when we were in Edinburgh and loved the food. This time however they have refused to serve us because it was 7:24 pm and apparently if you have no ID you can’t even eat there after 7pm. We said that we won’t buy any alcoholic drinks but they said we can’t even eat, ridiculous. This is the 1st time ever we had such a bad experience going to a restaurant/bar or pub to eat. Will not return there again.

Staff and service are terrible. Waited over 30 minutes for my drink at the bar and when asked the bar staff about it they said they hadn’t served me after going back and forth and needing to show them my online banking to confirm I had bought a drink they finally made it. Staff were extremely rude after that to my friends and I. Other friends at the bar over heard them calling me a “bitch” and a “cow” 0/10 would no recommend anyone to go.

Always loved it here and have been coming for years. But was disappointed to see the menu has changed and all the drinks we regularly got have been replaced with more expensive, boring ones. The reason we liked candy bar was because it was fun, affordable and different but now it's just like all the rest.

My boyfriend and I came here for some drinks as part of our engagement celebrations and had the most amazing time. The cocktails were incredibly tasty and with many of them at only £5 - what's not to love? We found the music, atmosphere and...

Staff couldn't be more helpful. We pre-booked a table a few months in advance as we were a party of 24. Music was fab and cocktails were made so quickly. Great prices.
