Starbucks in Edinburgh, City of

The guy who records my order this afternoon around 5pm made me really emotionally uncomfortable :(( I just simply said I want no ice in my drink, and he did a really “interesting” face (you can imagine). I don’t know why he did that cuz I do have own medical reasons for not drinking ice.……. just realized how offensive that is to me. A really bad experience at this Starbucks!!!

Completely understaffed for a Saturday nday during December

During my recent visit to Starbucks, I encountered a noticeably quiet atmosphere as the store was nearly empty. This lack of busyness, however, did not translate into the level of customer service I had anticipated. The staff, particularly a blonde woman wearing glasses, displayed a lack of warmth and hospitality. There was an absence of a welcoming greeting or any semblance of customer engagement. Moreover, the preparation of my cappuccino fell short of Starbucks' usual standards. Despite the store being uncrowded, she rushed the process, particularly in the creation of the foam. This hurried method didn't allow the foam to properly settle, a key aspect of a well made cappuccino. In quieter moments, I would expect a more meticulous attention to detail, especially considering Starbucks' reputation for quality. This experience was a departure from the usual Starbucks standard, where customer service and product quality are typically prioritized. The lack of busyness in the store should have been an opportunity to elevate these aspects rather than neglect them.

Place is dirty, the floor needs cleaning and the walls need either cleaning or painting. Food was luke warm and looked pretty awful, we were in at 8am so imagine it will get worse through the day

Great Frappuccino, not too busy, good wifi.

Cara makes the best Matcha Tea. Yesterday I went to another Starbucks and got a Matcha Tea and it was made horrifically however my partner got one from here and Cara made it perfectly. She couldn't have been more pleasant and lovely as a Barista and a person. There was another lady who I'm really sorry I didn't get their name but it really seems that Starbucks is lucky to have some lovely people working in this one 😁.

Nicely appointed Starbucks; tidy, open, and lots of seating. Four of us went in for an after-dinner / pre-show espresso. It took ages despite a short line. The shots were harsh and bitter. Two of us felt very ill and one moderately so.

Disappointed with the salted caramel cream coffee. Very diluted. Flat taste

They are so slow 🐌 😒 especially when you are in a hurry . Today, almost I miss my train because of it. Yesterday, they forgot to put caramel into my coffee. I live in Manchester. I've just camem to visit my friend but Starbucks dispointed me last two days.

Verry slow come early in morning i was the only client when i got there the guy who was doing the cpfees was so slow waiting 15 min for a cup of macha latw

Flavourless coffee... Scaldingly hot...

It's a nice building but service is average - I've always got to put my own milk in which I find peculiar.

For some time now they have been using very cold air conditioning to deter people from staying too long.

We are in town visiting and made a couple stops at this particular Starbucks because Cara went out of her way to make sure our orders were perfect! Awesome stop and location.

Starbucks is a well known place for a reason! The drinks are delicious i recommend the Caramel Frappuccino and the chocolate coated sticks and cookies are just amazing 100% best beverage place ever

Tidy, fast, warm and gentle people and offers a beautiful view of Edinburgh. A little too expensive.

The staff who received the order was very kind. But the staff who made the coffee with the name starting with n was really unpleasant. She put my drink on the pick-up table without calling my name. And soon another customer took my drink. I had to explain to the customer that it was my drink. The staff didn't care about this situation. The staff called out the previous guest's name, but why didn't she call my name? It's like racism. Thank you for making unforgettable memories.

What can I say it's a coffee shop chain. Okay coffee at a rip off price. I suppose the normal customer has to pay for students buying 1 cup and taking a table all day! Should be a time limit, so others can get a seat.

Was pretty busy when I was there (6pm-ish). Coffee okay I suppose.

Just bad attitude. I was waiting for a simple earl grey tea for ages. My cup was just sitting there and waiting. I had to ask a member of staff to just pass it on to me. No “sorry” nothing.

Made an order via uber whom didn’t have enough drivers… I called Starbucks and a very customer service oriented , kind and well spoken person picked up. Her name is Grace. She went the extra extra extra mile… called uber for me and then called me back to help me with my order. Thank you Grace …

Standard Starbucks, but smart appearance and central location.

There are two Starbucks on Leith Street, one of which is at the entrance to the St James centre and is the subject of this review. Whereas most coffee chains aim for a relaxing cosy atmosphere to encourage custom, the interior design of this branch seems designed for the entirely opposite and with its large open space, bland decor and a weird seating plan it has no welcome feel to it at all. With four of us sitting side by side on a bench seat against the wall it felt like being in a bus station.

First time I had been in the place the. Food was very good and the prices were reasonable and the staff helpful

Staff were friendly even though it was quite late in the day and they didn't seem to mind I was staying quite late

Very poor attitude from staff. Wasn’t even that busy. Guy even bagged up and threw my food down on the counter, though I ordered to sit in. Zero eye contact from staff. Terrible atmosphere. Also one of those places were every table is taken by the “buy a coffee and sit on the laptop for 3 hours” type customers.

Very conveniently situated near Edinburgh Playhouse theatre. Very quick and courteous service.

The tables are absolutely filthy, and the hot water machine is broken I can’t even order tea.

I wasn't greeted in any way, first words from the cashier ware "what is your name?" I ordered two cups of coffee and they managed to mess up my order. It was a take out order and I was served hot chocolate instead of mocha and my other coffee had 2 shots of espresso in it, when I found out I was already driving away. Don't recommend to anyone and I won't be coming back.

If I could give zero stars I would! This place is overpriced and truly awful. It was quiet yet ALL the tables where dirty...in fact the whole place was FILTHY. No excuse as there where more staff than customers. AVOID

Went to Starbucks St James quarter 3 times this week and each time served by a lovely girl whom I can’t name as don’t know her name but she had a written tattoo on her wrist and she was really polite, friendly and made the visits worth it so I hope you can let her know.

Great big coffee shop but takes forever to get your order

Was nice and quiet when we went. We had the wee one with us and because she was making some noise (just talking about the day) we keep getting dirty looks for the single people in there to work, got uncomfortable after an bit! The place was clean but was the atmosphere that lost it an star. The staff was efficient!

My favourite branch in Edinburgh. They open early on weekdays which is awesome. The staff is always very friendly and the place is clean.

What I like most about this Starbucks in particular is that employees are very kind. If there is any issue, they're willing to help you with a smile and make you feel comfortable.

Last sunday I was having a tough day, went for my hibiscus ice tea and the team were so supportive, lovely tea etc and chat. I think one that stood out was called finlay. (legend)

Ordered a toasted sandwich but they put on top of a paper napkin, part of my sandwich stuck to the towel so I could not finish it .What I could eat was ok, but why they put on top of paper napkins I do not understand.

Sorry team for this 1 star, but I never get throw away cups as hate the waste + when I specifically requested a china cup + you bring my drink in a throw away one, this really upsets me! Let's try to be a little more environmentally focused & aware to accommodate your customers.

Hard surfaces and the large space result in elevated noise levels, making it difficult for customers and staff to communicate through COVID screens. In addition between the area behind servery where orders are taken and the drinks prep area, there was an inexplicable screen which was being moved constantly as staff attempted to negotiate it. Tables were being cleared but cleaning is an issue as a free standing fire extinguisher stand close to a support pillar had dust balls and general debris behind it. Clearly the area had not seen a vacuum or mop in days.

I visited this store today and I can appreciate how hard everyone is working. There was only 3 team members on and one barista was actually training another barista as she is a newbie. Considering there was only 3 people on bar/till at 5pm which is rush hour they were trying their best to accommodate everyone and serve everyone. The wait time for drinks was longer than usual but this is to be expected when in pandemic times and also training is occurring. Obviously it would have been ideal if there was another staff member fully trained to help them out so the training could run smoothly. I appreciate how stressful it can be when you have a queue out the door and people don’t understand and get frustrated. I just wanted to say thank you for your hard work under severe pressure and also newbie will get the hang of it soon and you’ll be great at what you do!!!! Well done guys it’s really hard to keep composure when it’s very busy and understaffed and some people can be so unkind but honestly stay strong guys :) great work!!!

When I ordered my coffee at about 2pm, the store was incredibly busy. There isn't enough seating and people didn't have enough space to queue while waiting for their orders. The coffee was a bit lacklustre, but that's just Starbucks for you. I wouldn't recommend this particular shop--unless you're really just here to pick up a quick coffee and leave.

I had a terrible experience at Starbucks at the Omni centre, Edinburgh. I asked for a Java chip drink but made vegan but when I got it I decided to go back and ask them if it definitely didn't have dairy in it and they said that one they had made with dairy. They changed it for me and they gave me one and said it was now vegan. I drank most of the drink but later when I decided to search the drink online it said it shouldn't have chocolate bits in it if it was vegan but unfortunately the one I drank and was told was vegan did have chocolate bits in it. I feel so sick now and very disappointed. I will be staying clear from Starbucks from now on as a result of this horribly unfortunate situation.

Peach ice tea was ok a but weak however made had some coconut drink and it was all ice finished the drink in 3 sips through the straw.

Like the one way system they have implemented. They're really trying to use all the space they have. The staff are kind and hardworking.
