Fantastic delivery, very fast and food still warm

I usually never complain about too much sauce but my burger had a lot of mustard so I couldn’t taste much of the patty, it tasted like mustard and pickle. The tater tots were good. I would say for that part of town the portion size is pretty good for the price. They have vegetarian and gluten free options.

Was struck by how friendly the waiting staff were. Very polite and professional. The food was very tasty and the service was prompt though in no way seemed rushed. There was no sense of being hurried along at the end of the meal allowing us to chill and enjoy the meal

Very very small burgers... Far away the picture with the reality. Obviously, one knows that normally there are few differences but in this case, nothing to do with it.... £16 for a very small burger. Taste good but, no worth... Could call skinny hippo ...

Nothing really to shout about. Burger was good but the fries cold and little of them. Service was painfully slow on a very quiet Saturday afternoon in early January! Kids enjoyed the build you burger option on the kids menu but other than that I’m not sure we would go back again. Plenty of good burger places close by at similar price points that I’d recommend before this one.

Disgusting of 120F for a fat-drenched chicken with cheese sauce chips hard burgers not seasoned without flavor. I recommend going to McDonald's there although you will get a salad and not just pickled cucumber!!! I will not recommend this place to anyone !!!!!

We were in search of a good burger place and we found it! Definitely worth the visit.

Fairly decent restaurant of its type, though probably a little less cool than the Durham restaurant. Beef burgers were really good chicken burger nice, but not Butta Burger level, though tbh, no one is. Chips were nice too. As an all round burger joint, its a solid 4*, better than most, if not the best in class. I'll defo visit again, probably many times. Service was really good.

Food was okay. Pictures looked better than it tasted. Buttermilk chicken burger was brown leg meat.

Uber delivery to Simpsons maternity. Everything was Baltic, the fries weren’t even covered. The cheese balls were solid they were that cold. The burger didn’t come with everything it said on the menu. Albeit you do expect things to be a bit tepid when being delivered, this was beyond rubbish. I do appreciate that this may be an uber issue rather than a fat hippo issue. 1 star was just my experience.

Just left your restaurant after being there for 15 minutes. No drink order taken, no food order taken. Staff more interested in getting delivery orders ready. Very disappointed. There are a lot of restaurants in Edinburgh to choose from. Please do better for your customers.

I ordered it on just eat, I’ve been waiting for two hours and nothing came. They probably just ignored all delivery orders, and even worse my order is apparently “delivered”, it’s 5:02 now and it’s apparently “delivered” at 5:40. lol I’m so confused and upset I don’t even know what to say, if you’re not planning to accept delivery orders, maybe don’t let us order in the first place?

fries were cold but actually still taste good (cold fries is a common problem with deliveries) the 'frickles' are as amazing as i hoped and only had one bite of my burger cuz im stuffed on fries, but that one bite was delicious ^_^ VERY HAPPY :)

If you want a cold half cooked partly frozen meal served by surly staff then this is the place to eat. In winter expect to be seated beneath an air con machine and shiver in an almost empty restaurant which lacks atmosphere and ambience. If you try to discuss the poor quality of your meal then staff will be defensive and unsympathetic. This is probably the worst experience I have had for many years across the UK and abroad.

Amazing food as always and what’s even better is the outstanding service from morven… nothing was too much trouble. Above and beyond.

Very friendly & helpful staff. We had the fast hippo lunchtime deal which was great value for money. Total bill for two fast hippo deals, a trash brown starter, 2 soft drinks and a few dips cost £36. The only thing we didn't like was the garlic butter mayo. It was green and it just tasted like regular garlic mayo.

Burger can do it better, waffle fries were good

Had booked a table but it wasn’t necessary as it was quite quiet. Since we were out drinking alcohol we felt having a burger would be too much and stuck to some starters (fried pickles, chicken wings etc). Pickles were quite soggy but were still good. I haven’t had a bad chicken wing like this before. We got all the flavours of wings (there’s only 3 to choose from). When they came out they were coated in a batter and hardly any sauce. Tasteless wings which just dripped oil. If I had one recommendation it is to stop coating the wings in batter and fry them normally and coat them in loads of sauce. Made me feel terrible throughout the night and won’t rush to go back.

Average food, poor service. The chicken burger didn’t really come with any sauce in it, or enough fillings other than the two chicken thighs. Had to wait for someone to come to take our order for longer than would expect, nobody came to take drinks orders before food. Then once finished waited for 20min for someone to come and collect the plates but nobody did so had to ask someone. Service charge was included in the bill automatically which wasn’t really appreciated. The space is cool but music quite loud.

Chicken was still purple and had no taste. They don't have any herbs or salt/pepper here. We couldn't have eaten our citizens so dirty. The music was super loud so if you want to eat something quietly you shouldn't come here. Very unfortunate, everyone left €60 poorer and hungry. The only positive thing was the cocktails, but I don't think there was any alcohol in them either. Not recommended! Greetings the Belgians

The burger was as scrumptious as Pauly D's pb n j bagel. The fries were a treat, and that desert, what can I say? Mary Bezza would be more than impressed.

Went in for a meal with the mrs after long thinking where to eat, ordered food to share ordered the semi part life burger with waffle fries and the cheese bites, cheese bites were really good and wee enjoyed however the burger was definitely disappointing I went to cut in half so we can share and got a smell instantly after cutting which just didn’t seem right, as if the chicken was off, took a bite and it definitely was off tasted rank thought it may be the pickles removed them and tried another small bite and it was definitely the chicken, as someone who works in the food industry that chicken wasn’t safe to serve, we both didn’t eat the meat so removed that and enjoyed the bun and salad, service was on point just didn’t want to be rude and tell them about the chicken so covered it up and put it aside, won’t be back for the burger for sure

I am a delivery driver and they are very rude to the drivers who represent the customers . They are disrespectful, shouting and inattention. People like this should not work in a place that serves the public. I do not recommend this restaurant.

when the food arrived we noticed all 3 burgers were pink in the middle. the rest of the food was fine but we were unable to eat the burgers due to the pinkness.

I received a chicken burger instead of a beef burger and I booked delivery for 5.30pm and it didn’t arrive until 6.15pm

A good quality burger place in a very young hip setting within a historical building. Burgers are up to standard, juicy and as should be. Quite a standard chain store with safe options. Seatings were spacious and servers are attentive.

Wow! Just wow. This place is something we just found while roaming around old town Edinburgh. Amazing Staff, amazing food, and the vibe of the place is just great. I wish I had more time to just enjoy and relax while enjoying an amazing meal and a drink. But if I am around here again this is revisit for sure. Highly recomended!

Worst burger I've ever had. The meat was bad quality, horrendous, oily and badly cooked. Chips were oily, plain and lacked flavour. Horrendous burger, would not recommend.

Loved our meal here. Had a nice server and we all loved our burgers and fries. Recommend the PB + JJ burger 100%, loved the peanut butter and bacon jam. Would definitely eat here again.

So-so. The service was fairly good, the staff seemed to care that we enjoyed the meal and the venue is quite big and airy, however, I didn't think the food was particularly special - it just didn't taste that great - the burgers were not that juicy and there wasn't much in the way of garnish - I was disappointed at how small it was. The gluten free bun was partly cold and the fries came with cajun seasoning that wasn't mentioned in the menu (apparently that is normal). The chocolate milkshake did not taste particularly chocolatey either. The food may have been better quality than somewhere like McDonalds but I'm afraid it didn't taste much better, and was far from the proper hamburgers you get in places like Byron (unfortunately now closed in Edinburgh). The prices are not far off Byron though, so I was hoping for better than what we got. Still on the hunt for a replacement for Byron in Edinburgh....!

We arrived as a group of 4 the place was clean and the staff were friendly and we got seated immediately as it was half empty which was surprisingy for a Saturday evening. We ordered starters and 2 burgers to share between us all. After waiting nearly an hour the food finally came, which was hard to understand why we were waiting so long since it defiantly wasn’t busy, I felt sorry for the only 2 staff that were working front of house. Whilst bringing the food over one of the burgers was dropped on the floor which was frustrating as we had to wait AGAIN for it to be remade. He was very apologetic and polite. The burger then came out and was completely raw inside, it was a lucky chance we were sharing and didn’t just bite into it straight away. The waiter was again completely apologetic and voided the whole bill. Definitely won’t be going back and doesn’t live up to the dreamy food that’s all over social media

Unfortunately not a great review to leave. Started off with an hour and 15 wait for food to come out, we wanted some more drinks but felt like the waiter was trying to avoid eye contact with us! The other waiter was so nice and really apologetic but unfortunately dropped one of our burgers on the floor and said it would be out ASAP. The food we did eventually get was decent but I don’t think I’d be rushing back, the beef in the burger was dry. They then brought out our double chicken burger which was not just pink but completely RAW inside. The waiter was as lovely as he could be and nulled the entire bill but a pretty horrendous experience.

We visited as part of a family break to Edinburgh, as 2 adults and a 9yr old. We called ahead (by only 15 mins) to check availability and made a reservation that way before turning up, the staff working were so friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was busy but not too loud. We all loved our food and drink, we had 1 vegan meal, one meat meal and one child meal, and a mixture of drinks and sides. It was so delicious, we sat on the lovely window benches and had a great time enjoying the food, atmosphere, and people watching! Thank you

This was my first visit to this place and I was very impressed. I ordered a chicken burger which I wouldn't normally go for but this one sounded good. It was juicy with a crispy coating and worked well with the other toppings. The fries were well seasoned and fresh too. We also ordered burgers and those were well received too but I didn't try them myself. The staff were nice and friendly so I'd defintely recommend this place if you are in the area.
