The Boozy Cow in Edinburgh, City of

Before I go into the review, I have to say our server was lovely. She had dyed red hair and I think she told us her name but I don't remember it as this was several days ago. My only criticism of the whole experience was that my partner and I got the vegan classic cheeseburger which had hummus on it. My partner got it without the hummus and it was considerably better than my hummus-ed burger. I would recommend the chefs have a taste between the two and see if they agree with me that less is more. If they disagree that's fine. The chips were class and the burger was still great. The margaritas were good fun as well (though I'd recommend using fine or flaky salt rather than rock salt for the rim of the glass, but still this is a minor gripe and if this is part of the bartender's vision then hey go for it). Now. My goodness. There so many rude customers there this evening of 14/03/25. When we were seated by our lovely hosts there was a tense thing going on at two other tables. One was a guy on his phone extremely loudly; another was a mother/son combo who were nonverbal. Very tense. A couple of guys came in not long after and they decided to seat themselves (always a controversial/incorrect/stupid move) and regularly gestured at the bar staff for service with a rank impatience. When they were then served one of the guys had the veritable audacity to say "is this what I ordered?". I couldn't believe it! Another couple sat themselves at the bar and I believe they were a bit out of line, as well. This isn't a criticism of the bar/restaurant. I just want to communicate to the team that this is a great place and I really enjoyed my time here. I'm sorry there are some sorry fools who decide to bring their bad vibes in but really I think this place is class and if I'm ever back in Edinburgh I'll be here for a burger right off the bus.

The burgers are incredible and very good, highly recommended. The atmosphere of the place is also very good for a drink.

We came for a couple of beers. Initially we stayed inside, but it wasn't our type of atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, but we caught a quiz night and was a little too much hearing of the "mc" talking and screaming all the time. Location&music a bit kitchy for our taste.

It is delicious to eat in Edinburgh, in my opinion it lacks a little flavor to the meat and in general, but the truth is that we had no expectations and we liked it!

Went as a group of 4 on a Tuesday evening, given a comfy little booth straight away. The servers were polite and very prompt, drinks coming out very quickly for a selection of cocktails. The drinks themselves were incredible, cocktails were clearly made with a lot of knowledge of ingredients. All of our food was top tier, the burgers were probably some of the best any of us have had. The only downside, I wish the mac burger came with many, many more of their homemade mac and cheese bits, they were far too good.

Staff was amazing. Jamie was really friendly and helped us really well. The wings were really spicy. We picked the one with the 2 spicy peppers, but we couldnt handle it. So be aware of that. Besides that this is a hidden gem!

Domenic was a delightful host and helped us decide on what cocktail we'd like. He got it spot all. Would recommend and definitely be back

Visited on Saturday night. The food was tasty. It just felt very understaffed. We waited longer than normal to be seated, waited longer to pay, and satisfaction checks were not done either. Would return, however.

Hen party group attended last Saturday for lunch. Very highly recommend. Excellent service and great food. Very reasonable prices.

Not a personal fan of the atmosphere and decor but it definetely is a clean and vibey environment. The hamburgers were delicious though and the patties are done well, they are juicy and not overcooked and service was good too

Food looked great on the menu but sadly won't ever find out because the staff were too busy talking to seat us despite waiting for 5 minutes at the door in full view of the bar and wait staff.

Dear me! Are these the most miserable bar staff in the uk? Go to the bar and they’ll ignore you completely until they finish pouring their order. No acknowledgement, no friendly smile, no welcome, no thank you when you pay. Uber focused on pouring their wee cocktails, no focus whatsoever on the customer. I get the feeling they practice flair bartending, twirling the shaker around, but don’t really have a clue what a good bar service is. Good retro music is its saving grace!

We went here for late lunch, Matt was our server, he was friendly and helpful throughout our time here. We'd definitely recommend the food and drink. The tunes playing were spot on too. The food was so good we forgot to take pictures.

Seated quickly. Waited almost an hour before we could order our food. Qr code on the table for ordering food didnt work. When our food got served we didnt get silverware, burger where covered in cheese. Youd probably want silverware when eating something like that. Eventually we got some after having trouble getting the attention of the waiter. Also when asked if wanting fries with the burger it was never mentioned we would be charged extra for it. Beer was mid.

Happened across Boozy Cow through a Google search for places to eat and what a find it was! Hidden away, this is a must for all burger loves! Chilled atmosphere and plenty of choice for all discerning palettes! Would definitely recommend and visit again!! Great service from Dan, very attentive staff throughout our visit.

We arrived with no booking so we totally get we had to wait and appreciated that. We said we were happy to wait and went to the bar and had a drink. The girl who welcomed us after arriving not once approached us with an update, other people arrived ate and went again. We waited for an hour and half with no explanation or anything as to a table. It was literally just 2 of us. We ended up just leaving. Such bad service which is a shame as we were really looking forward to eating with you .

so close to a five but just off. food was incredible - especially desserts - and server was lovely. the place even looked very cool. only problem was a range of very small but annoying details, which snowballed to an angry badger. the food for 2 people comes on one large tray, but the tray is not big enough so you have to huddle in. it also means when cutting food you move the other person’s food. my burger was not a burger as there was no top bun but it didn’t explicitly say this which annoyed me so much. atmospherically - it was really quiet but the music was also quiet so it was a bit off. it was very cold and they didn’t accept my young scot card as ID. call it the sober cow. however, you get to roll the pigs, which - if they land snout up - means you get your food bill free.

Visited the restaurant on Saturday 8th January. Really good burgers, yummy cocktails and a fantastic atmosphere. Service from our waitress Caitlin was above and beyond!!!

We were a party of 20 meeting together to then go on to Murrayfield. We reserved a couple of tables and the attention to detail form the Boozy Cow was second to non. Water waiting on our arrival, drinks served to table. As requested, we pre-ordered the food and it was all served up within 30mins of our arrival. The atmosphere was upbeat, food was delicious, the staff very attentive and the service first class. Would highly recommend the Boozy Cow!! We will definitely be back.

Cool and quirky decor with an atmosphere to match. Friendly, welcoming and efficient hosting from Matthew and his colleague. We ordered a cheeseburger, skinny fries and chicken cobb salad and both found our meals to be very tasty. We also thought it was good value.

Matthew was a total diamond and looked after us so well. Food was delicious! Perfect pit stop between shopping and sightseeing, thank you!

Can't even begin to describe how amazing my experience at the boozy cow was! I went here with my sister to treat ourselves and was greeted by Matthew, who was lovely the whole time and gave us complementary water as soon as we sat down. We ordered 2 non alcoholic drinks, 2 buttermilk sliders, and 1 shredded beef brisket slider for £15, and a portion of cajun fries (as pictured) and they were really good! The dip and dunk with the sauce and doritos was amazing and made the burgers that much better ;) We then got (and was persuaded) to order a deep fried Mars Bar for dessert and it was very good (perfect for someone with a sweet tooth). Overall the bill came to £40 (incl. service charge) and are definitely coming again! See you next month~

Good restaurant, original burger but you have to like well-cooked meat. Be careful it's very expensive for 2 beers and 2 normal burgers and 2 fries are not included, we got them for 57 euros.

Burger restaurant in the new town, well located and has a very cool location. I ordered the maple bacon cheeseburger. It was very good, what I liked the most was the crispy bacon. The beer was good too. Something I also really liked was the music they played. They treated me very well and at a sufficient price.

We spent 5 days in Edinburgh, and we came to eat twice at The Bozzy Cow, if you want a very good burger this is the ideal place, the decor is very original and the staff are very attentive.

Super good food, excellent staff and a unique atmosphere and decoration. Good place to go and right in the center They have gluten-free and other allergy-free options.

Great food, very impressed with their allergy process. They went and checked what I could have from the chef and when asked about the bun said they had already sorted out Gluten Free which is also Dairy Free. Food was lovely would definitely recommend. (Smash Burger with Fries)

We loved this restaurant. It is very modern and every corner is photogenic. The staff was super friendly and everything was great. Very well located to then explore the main shopping streets and next to a very nice park. It is worth it if you are in Edinburgh and compared to the price of the rest of the places it is not bad, at least you know that you are going to eat very well at an appropriate price.

The best burger place in Edinburgh! There was barely anyone at the time we went so there was 0 wait times. Food was served quick and it was really good. Prices were pretty good too.

On our first day in Immanbara, we went there. It was wonderful, a beautiful place, and the most beautiful food. Two people ate. We tried a cheeseburger and a Philly cheese steak. I highly recommend it. Thank you to Jenelle for the wonderful service. We played a game of chance and an amount was deducted from the bill. Thank you very much.

We had a good experience at the Boozy Cow. The staff were friendly, it was quite busy so service was a bit slow but understandable! The food was great, very messy but they do provide a lot of napkins and wipes! The drinks were also tasty, so overall a good experience.

Visited over the hectic Christmas period, tried to walk in but understandably we couldn't get a table so we booked a table for the next day. The staff were brilliant, efficient, friendly and welcoming. Service was fast, cocktails were excellent, food was delicious and prices were reasonable, will be back for sure when I next visit edinburgh! Thank you guys!

The location is very cool, there is good music and the audience is colorful and exciting. The menu offers some interesting things, both in terms of food and drinks. The burgers were good, nothing special but tasty. Unfortunately, everything always took a very, very long time. Drinks only arrived after almost 30 minutes, food came almost at the same time. We waited forever for the bill and then another while until someone came back to pay. That was pretty annoying and took away from what was actually a positive experience.

The vibe and the menu is very fun! Service was quick and the haggis pops made trying haggis much easier. Would definitely return for a fun night out!!

We really enjoyed our meal out at the Boozy Cow on the day before New Year's Eve. Our burgers were good, though the buns did taste like they were supermarket-bought, and we felt they could have used more sauce, the actual patties were generous. We ordered the Kimchi chicken burger and a Philly Steak, with cheesy-loaded fries, fried pickles, and then the deep-fried Mars Bar and Churros for dessert. Our arteries are probably unlikely to thank us for this meal. The bar has a fun punk ambience, but was somewhat spoilt by an extremely loud table of Glaswegian footie supporters bellowing at the top of their voices in a somewhat threatening manner. It was a little like sitting next to Begbie and Co from Trainspotting. Relieved when they moved on, we tried the Mon Cherie and ?? cocktails, highly recommend the former, which was one of the best cocktails I've tasted in Edinburgh (very difficult to beat The now closed Printing Press' Smoked Pear Old Fashioned....). The ?? was slightly underwhelming. The toilets were clean and impressive, and the staff were also lovely and very efficient despite a full house and very busy night. Despite running out of chicken wings and milk (no milkshakes available!), availability of everything else on the menu was good and we loved the fried pickles. Desserts were nice, though I wanted chocolate not toffee sauce with the Churros (edit: noting I didn't ask for this, but got very accommodating vibes from the staff!). We're looking forward to a return visit when they're not utterly snowed.

We went here a few days ago, and it was a great experience. The food is good but a little expensive, like everywhere else here in Edinburgh. There was live music and the atmosphere was very nice, as was the pig game. The waitress with red hair was very kind and helpful to us.

Burgers were rather mediocre considering this is the principal thing on the menu. The wings were good, and the service was great.

Enjoyed this bar/restaurant. It reminds me of the bar/restaurants that used to be in the East Village (NYC). The restaurant caters to meat eaters and vegetarians alike as well as drinkers and non drinkers. I ordered a Hibiscus Sour and a strawberry milkshake. Both were delicious and light, no intense sweetness like it is at home. Even the water was comparable to NYC. My main meal was The Italian Job minus the ham and loaded cheese fries. PLEASE BE ADVISED FRIES are sold separately; Which is understandable because some bar patrons just want fries after a few drinks. The waitress was prompt and attentive. I appreciated that. The entire meal was around £31, I paid with a £50 and just left the change as a tip.

Can’t comment on the food. Our table was given away as we landed late into Edinburgh. We had phoned multiple times in the hour prior to our reservation time to try and hold the table (no answer). The girl with the nose ring who we spoke to on arrival had a very sarcastic and unprofessional attitude. It was like speaking to a child. Restaurant staff should have some basic training on how to speak to customers.

The philly cheese steak is amazing, the burger upgraded with wagyu patty didn’t match my taste at all. Sad cause I would’ve been glad to try the burger challenge. I would come back for the Philly anyway 👍🏼

My friend and I had a great time at The Boozy Cow! I got the Bam Bam chicken burger which was divine, and my friend got the Philly Cheesesteak which she said was delicious! The only downside for me was just you have to order fries separately, but we shared a bowl. All very tasty! We had cocktails too and CJ made the experience by waiting with us as we blew out the flame and drank the little shot before adding “this is where I tell you you’ve just drank 63% rum”. It was great to have a server that was sound! CJ definitely made our experience better! Very positive and helpful! We went back later that evening for more cocktails!

Front of house waitress spot on, bar staff ok, room for improvement, especially from the guy who seemed to be in charge, it was like you should be grateful he served you, the other younger bar guy was more relatable. Waitress for the tables was outstanding, super benefit to the establishment. If your employer is wondering who you are, it was the guy who said throw yourself a tenner on the bill. You were brilliant.

Just dropped by for a quick drink, but they didn't have any IPA, so had to have a Lager, plus a Pink Gin. It was busy and a few staff were running around distributing food to other customers. There were a few behind the bar, which is good if you know what you are doing, but got the impression the staff were young and new.

How many mistakes can there be with one order? Turns out, quite a few—you can forget the beer, forget the fries, forget the second beer, and mix up the bills at the end. As for the burgers themselves, they were just okay. If I’d gotten them in a pub, I’d say they were good, but from a dedicated burger place, I expected something better. The burgers were pretty small, and the price was high considering there were no fries included in the price of burger. Also, two burgers on one tray, was a bit inconvenient. Probably a one-time visit.

A group of us went to the boozy cow based on the ‘amazing’ reviews we’d read about it and expected to have some really good burgers/food. However, the food was so disappointing and absolutely not worth the price we’d all paid. I got the Mac Daddy burger for £14. The description is 2x smashed burger patties, but the burgers weren’t smashed at all, they were frozen processed burgers which you’d find in a cheap burger van. It also came with beef brisket on top which was inedibly dry and again not fresh. The burger would usually come with cheese sauce on top, I chose to have the sauce in a dish on the side. It occurred to me that the sauce would usually be lathered inside the burger to mask how dry and processed the burger actually is - I noticed this about the majority of the food on the menu. Typically fries come served with a burger but you had to order these separate which was an additional £3.95. I couldn’t even eat half of the burger it was that bad and the 3 other people I was with also shared the same feedback and left the majority of their food and they all had different orders to mine. When I’m asked how my food is I usually just be polite and say I’m enjoying it even if it isn’t great, but I had to give my honest feedback to the server on this occasion it was so disappointing. The server was so apologetic about all of our experience even though there was nothing wrong with his service and the quality of the food was not his fault. He took 10% off our food bill which I appreciate, however myself and my partner pretty much couldn’t eat our entire meal and we still paid £40 with the 10% off - that was only for 2 burgers and 1 side of fries. It was absolutely not worth the money and I wouldn’t go back

Just popped in for a drink, but was disapointed that they had no IPA, so had a Lager, it was ok. The wife had a Pink Gin and she was happy with that. The staff were friendly enough, but felt that they were all students without much experience and not much interest in the job.

We stopped here to catch a break and some food. I thought I'd try the popcorn chicken thinking it would be like the very popular Kentucky shop, to find out it was literally popcorn and chicken pieces in toffee sauce. Sounds bizarre on paper but it was brilliant. The waiter (great guy but I can't remember his name!) came over at the end with two toy pigs where you play a game for money off (I won't spoil it too much). Somehow we won and left happy with full stomachs and a cheaper bill. Would deffo go again!
