I had the classic burger, fries, and a shake. Burger was great, fries were crispy & good, and the shake was fantastic. My waitress gave good menu recommendations and suggested cool things to do while in the city! Ask for Anelhy for great recommendations!

Byron used to be my favourite restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing but after going today i don't think ill be in a rush to return. After being told they didnt have any of the vegan beef patties which is 3/4ths of the menu and having to change what i wanted. I didnt really mind as they cant help but i asked for water which they never gave us. We ordered vegan chicken wings and was give REAL chicken wing which we only noticed after already biting into it. No apology at all for this mistake was give . Even when they asked was everything oki we said yes but the chicken mistake was bad they just ignored us again no apology. The waiter then refused to touch our used napkins which i just found bizarre. The vibe of the waiters were just off. Id just recommended ordering online because thats all they really care about you see about 20 deliveroos be prepared before you even order. Really unfortunate

Good burger flavors...proper if you prefer. The food was done well, and service had a good attitude. Not a restaurant I'd choose for a Scottish experience, but it's a solid choice for pub grub.

Fantastic food and the milkshakes are to die for. Slightly regretted my beer which was excellent. Burger was full of intense flavours and service was fab. Withholding one star on atmosphere as not a fan of the trendy dance music.

Byron burger serves up heavenly burgers that are simply irresistible! We opted for a takeaway as we arrived during peak dinner service. The burgers were definitely worth the wait! And they still came out pretty quick considering the restaurant was full! Don't miss out on this blissful experience!

While the burgers are good, we got a take out with 30+ minutes of wait, on what Google describes a "less busy than usual" evening. Wouldn't recommend.

I have nothing bad to say about coming here . I've not been eating properly through grief but I thought I would try and eat something.got seated straight away looked at the menu for small plates then the waiter came over to take my order and I explained my eating disorder she went to the chef to tell him.they understood and gave me the exact portion size I wanted.they went out of their way to help me.food was fantastic, waiter was looking and kind.cant understand why people are saying bad things about here.if you think it's too expensive, which I don't, just go somewhere else.cant thank the staff enough.x

Good burger and service but they’ve hiked the prices massively since some of the menu photos on here were posted, seems 50% more than two years ago for sure, considering they now charge separately for chips that were previously included with the burgers

Really great burger, very tasty and arrived very quickly. Properly thick milkshakes, not the watery kind with some flavoured syrup chucked in. My only criticism is at just over £5 for fries it was a very small portion, could have been a little bigger.

Great burguers at this place, cannot fault the food. The service wasn't the best, even though the place was quiet, and we the check was brought to the table without us asking, still half way through our drinks, so we felt a bit hurried. Service didn't justify the service charge added to the bill, but the burguers are worth a visit.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I spent an hour waiting for 2 burgers. When one of them finally arrived it was super cold. We asked for it to be changed and after 15 minutes of waiting without the new burger being brought back, we decided to pay and leave. We were two people and only 1 was able to eat because of this. When we arrived, the waiter who greeted us took our order in a rude manner and after a while left the restaurant without telling his colleague our order. The restaurant staff had no communication, many dishes were already ready on the counter but the cooks did not notify the waiters. Nobody spoke to anyone on the staff, a lot of lack of communication which makes the service and the atmosphere of the place super ugly. Cooks work with headphones, which doesn't seem right to me in a work environment like gastronomy. I don't recommend it, I regret paying £20 for a burger and 6 fries. I hope they improve the staff.

Food was great. Server was amazing. He asked if the table was only having one burger which is perfectly fine! Iv had a gastric surgery and I can only eat a few sides when I eat. I love that they ask if you have any allergies before you sit down.

I had a dinner date on the 15th Feb here with my partner. The food was good as usual, the burgers were juicy and we enjoyed the food overall. However, the service was not that satisfactory. The server removed the plates seconds after we finished eating. We were handed out the bill without being asked if we need anything else. And we were forced to pay and leave even before finishing the drinks. I would recommend asking for the time available for seating before starting dinner just to avoid being thrown out.

Mediocre food, bland unseasoned fries/onion rings, stingy portions, expensive, poor value for money.

The burger was greasy, overcooked and thrown together, the tiniest portion of chips I’ve ever seen and if you’re charging that much for a burger that’s worse than Burger King/McDonalds then at least put the heating on! Not sure if Byron has gone downhill or it’s just that this one is in a very touristy area but I wouldn’t risk going to any of their branches again after this experience.

The Byron has very tasty burgers. There is a cozy atmosphere, which is also due to the friendly and nice service. The prices for the burgers are much more expensive than in Germany, but they are also tasty and juicy. The other dishes on the menu sounded good too. The visitors at the neighboring tables seemed to enjoy it. Was very satisfied and would come back again.

Food was very average but we found it greatly overpriced. The portion sizes were also very small. £13 for a burger to then buy a small portion of fries at £4/5 a pop seems excessive. The staff was more the plus point as our server was very attentive and friendly. Would we return sadly no. £136 for a family of 5 is far too much And besring in mind we only had mains.

Food was good, server ran through the motions but when we tried to order an additional round of drinks after eating we were told the table was reserved for other people so why sit us there innthe first place, if was very quite with plenty other tables

This is a restaurant that prioritises its delivery customers at the expense of those dining in. Sit close enough to the counter and you can see it - plates of burgers getting cold on the side while their deliveries skip the queue. Disappointing .

Extremely expensive for just a burger. Was assuming it came with fries like most places. To be fair it didn't say on the menu, however that's usually expected no? Can't complain with the service. There's plenty of other places nearby that are cheaper and better quality

Hearty burgers (the Byron and the Classic chicken), crispy fries, generous vanilla milkshakes! A children's menu is offered as well as coloring with free pencils. The staff were lovely and attentive. Our only downside is the waiting time: 45 minutes for two burgers and breaded chicken.

Hamburger is served well done, which makes it dry. Few options, just basic, not bad at all but not great. Forgettable.

The food was good but the service was awful, the staff weren’t friendly as well as not helpful, the when we ordered our second potion of bottomless fries it took over half an hour and the chips were chucked in our table cold and stale.

Food was just fine (side portions could be a bit bigger for price). Staff member that seated us and took our order was great. However our food sat under the heat lamps for quite a while. Three staff members were around but weirdly no one was bringing food out. After bagging a bunch of to-go orders, our food was brought to us. Chicken was plenty warm but my fries sat for a bit long. Just didn’t seem to be any urgency and the kitchen was getting things ready out of order. It was a bit pricey, but youre in downtown Edinburgh, the prices are gonna be inflated. It’s to be expected. 10% service charge included.

Guten Abend, Hierbei handelt es sich um einer meiner Lieblings Ketten im Bereich Gastronomie. Ich war schon bereits in mehren Filialen in Great Britain und ich muss sagen das mir diese hier besonders gefallen hat. Ich war bisher 2 mal in dieser Filiale und jedes mal waren die Mitarbeiter freundlich und Speisen sowie Trank haben gemundet. Toiletten sind auch reichlich da falls man mal muss. Letztendlich kann ich nur eine Weiterempfehlung geben.

We popped in here for lunch. We were sat pretty quickly and menus dropped over to us. The waiter seemed miserable, like he couldn't be bothered to do anything but the absolute bare minimum. The food came out and it was cold. This does my head in, it wasn't overly busy, so I don't really understand why the food must have been left sat out to get cold. Unfortunately we just didn't have the time to wait for a resolution as we had a fight to catch. To top it off, they apply a 10% service charge and don't mention it....I didn't realise until after I had paid. This is just a sly move by the restaurant. A service change for 2 people....come on for goodness sake. £50 for 2 cold burgers and chips and a two non alcoholic drinks. Won't be going back!

We’ve been going to Byron Burger restaurants for years and always enjoyed it. Usually we go to the ones in London but during our visit to Edinburgh we thought it would be great to have dinner here as well but unfortunately it was quite the disappointment. I had made a reservation and we were seated quickly, orders were taken promptly and drinks came shortly after yet it took over 45 minutes for our burgers to arrive. The restaurant was busy but not 45 minutes for three burgers busy. After 30 minutes of waiting we tried to get the attention of a waiter which was near on impossible and when we did and asked where the food was they said they’d check and come back to us. Nobody came back to us. Usually, staff also asks how you’d like your meat cooked but they didn’t do it in this brand. After we were done, the table got cleared they didn’t ask if we wanted a dessert or new drinks at all. We tried to ask for the menu again to pick a dessert but it was impossible to get someone’s attention and after another 30 minutes gave up. While we really like the burgers at Byron the service in this branch was unfortunately subpar. I understand that working on the first day of the year isn’t great but for a company that’s already in financial difficulties you’d think staff is absolutely on it. A 10% tip was added to our bill automatically… i don’t think the service was worth that unfortunately.

We ate here twice during our week in Edinburgh. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Zach was particularly helpful. The staff were also great at helping us make sure our celiac daughter’s meal was safe for her to eat.

Been to a few different Byron chains so we thought we knew what to expect and food wise it was as expected. The service from our waitress however was very disappointing. Upon arrival, she took our order and as Pescatarians, we ordered only vegetarian/ vegan options and I disclosed our dietary requirements to her when she took our order. She did not repeat the order back to us. Our drinks took a while to arrive and the table next to us who were seated 10 minutes after us got their order arrive first and we asked a different waiter (who was great) on a drinks update and he brought them straight over. When our food arrived, the waitress hadn’t correctly written the side we wanted and when notified gave off a very unapproachable and disgusted look which was rather unpleasant for such a minor thing. The WORST part however, was that the waitress served a table of vegetarian orders - CHICKEN. We had no idea and presumed everything we had ordered was of course vegetarian after she had been told this but apparently not. Only once my partner had taken a bite did we realise. She did not apologise, but instead ‘defended’ why she thought we wanted chicken. Honestly horrible, we were put off and lost our appetites. On the bright side, the other waiter and manager were lovely and very understanding. They both made us feel really at ease and were very apologetic when it wasn’t even their wrong doing so very very appreciative on them, and they deducted the meals from the bill. The waitress should take tips from them.

For a delicious beefy burger this is the place. The food is done right and the service is nice.

Service was super slow, waited 1h to get the food. The food then was cold and you could tell it had been sitting for a while. There were too many busy tables for the amount of waiters working. It has potential but it wasn’t a good experience.

Went to try the Christmas Burger and trimmings but unfortunately the burger was really dry, all dishes were cold to just slightly warm. Gravy came with a skin on from being left under the heat lamp. Pigs in blankets were undercooked as the bacon was chewy instead of being crispy. Milkshakes were fabulous though as was the brie bites and roasty tots.

If you're on the hunt for a satisfying burger fix in Edinburgh, Byron's should definitely be on your radar. Booking a table at Byron's Edinburgh was a breeze. Juicy patties cooked to perfection nestled between pillowy buns, with a variety of toppings to choose from. I went for the classic "Byron," a combination of smoked bacon, cheese, and tangy BBQ sauce, and it was every bit as delicious as it sounds. I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Gone are the days of boring sodas and water!

As a visiting American, it was a great taste of home... it's a great american style burger joint. We tried the basics and the not so basic halloumi sandwich, and loved it all. The downstairs area was a little more comfy and had a neat vibe. Good milkshakes, and the overall variety of drinks on the menu was great.

Good burgers but we had been seated next to the door and were freezing every time the door opened, we asked the waiter to move us to another table but he said the restaurant was full and there was no other table but when I went to the bathroom, there were many empty tables in the back😳😳

Delicious burgers but you should think of some improvement for the cold that comes in from outside, without hesitation at the tables near the entrance. I froze and just wanted to eat warm after freezing walking in the cold.

Wir waren sonntags mit einer größeren Gruppe (9 Leute) zum Essen da. Die Burger (Chrismas-Special) waren trocken gegrillt. die Bedienung wollte scheinbar kein Geld verdienen, kam erst gar nicht, obwohl reichlich Angestellte da waren und dann auch nicht all zu oft vorbei.

Decidimos entrar en esta hamburguesería mis compañeros de viaje y yo ya que tenía buena nota y no éramos capaces de encontrar ningún restaurante que nos convenciese. Lo que no sabíamos era que estábamos cometiendo un gran error. Hicimos una comanda bien simple, hamburguesas y patatas sin embargo estuvimos cerca de 1 hora esperando a que nos lo trajeran. Cuando finalmente llegó, se habían equivocado con los ingredientes de una de las hamburguesas y las que no se habían equivocado, ojala lo hubieran hecho ya que su calidad dejaba mucho que desear. Si hablamos de la estancia en el restaurante está fue incómoda, mesas pequeñas y sin espacio para las piernas. En definitiva, un lugar que no volvería a ir ni recomendaría a nadie.

Teniendo en cuenta el nivel que hay ahora mismo en España en cuanto a hamburguesas se refiere. Byron duraría 1 mes en Madrid. Precios caros, trato del camarero muy bueno pero una hora de espera para 6 hamburguesas. 100 gramos de patatas 6,5 euros. El local está bien.

A group of 14 people - we waited over an hour after ordering, an obvious mixup in the kitchen as the ones who ordered starter and main got them at the same time. Never heard of a starter not coming before the main. The fries were lukewarm, but fine, the burgers in some cases were too dry and overdone. There were a few half-hearted attempts to clear the table, two or three plates lifted, then waiting again. Took better part of 30mins before they table was cleared. Altogether we were there for 3 hours and had two courses. Really disappointed, and won't return.

Poor service, with dirty dishes and unfriendly female staff. Good food, but the burgers took more than 1 hour. Although the chicken wings are prepared in 10 minutes, we received it with the burgers at the same time.

Update, December 2023: very disappointed with our recent visit. Service seemed grudged and we felt that just by being there we were an inconvenience. Given the prices here that's a bit off. Real shame as we've enjoyed previous visits. Would be hesitant to return. Previous review: Good menu, reasonable prices by Royal Mile standards. Student discount available, which is nice. Cut above your average burger place. Food was good and so was the service. Would go again. They also have vegitarian and gluten free options available.

Been here before with my Mum and had greatly enjoyed it so when we saw it on the list of places that offered a discount with Camera Obscura tickets it seemed like fate. Our visit however was tainted by the service charge. This was not made clear that it was a mandatory payment and it made the discount basically redundant. The irony here is we would have happily paid this service charge given the option as our visit and the staff had been lovely. I know things are tough but to sneak it under our noses just felt rude and somewhat dishonest. I don't think it would be impossible to allow customers an option or at the very least inform them of said charge. I've seen places that allow customers to choose from 0%, 10%, 20% or 30% tip. As I say this tainted the entire experience so we'll probably find somewhere else next time.

Nach 90 Minuten Wartezeit hatten wir immer noch nichts zu essen bekommen. Haben den Laden verlassen, nachdem Gäste welche 1 Stunde nach uns kamen ihr Essen erhielten.

Booked well in advance, but still had to wait in a cue of walk ins for near 10 minutes. Very pleasant waiting team and this was the main reason we waited for nearly an hour for any food to reach our table. Once is eventually came the burger, wings and chicken strips were delicious. The loaded fries were hardly loaded and not worth the money. Onion rings very oily. The removed a round of drinks for our unacceptable wait and we chose to still pay the mandatory 10% service charge because the waiting staff were clearly having to deal with a bad situation

We came here yesterday, for my birthday lunch, with my kid and me, we’d just been at the lovely camera obscura, and used the deal they have to get 20 % off, which is pretty helpful, when you eat out in Edinburgh anyway, but my kid then drew my attention to the sly wee hidden surcharge that had shown up on the bill, so the discount from using camera obscura was pretty pointless, that’s f****** sly, don’t these people make enough, that they can’t pay their staff properly, we shall never be back!!!

Fast friendly service and great food - what more could you want on a rainy Edinburgh afternoon. We arrived wet and hungry and left warm and stuffed! Great food and very good value.

Tolle Location, leckeres Bier (Brooklyn). Die Haggis Cheese Fries und der Haggis Burger sind absolut zu empfehlen. Man sollte nur drauf achten, nicht direkt an der Tür zu sitzen, da es dort leider ziemlich kalt durchzieht.

A really great restaurant at the price. Burgers are delicious and varied. The staff are welcoming, professional & friendly: they seem to enjoy working there and it shows. The atmosphere is lovely in the post industrial decor. Somewhere I'll certainly return to & I can easily see myself becoming a regular & fairly frequent customer there. So: Well worth a visit.

This place is in a great spot. All I had was a cheeseburger and chips, but it was very good. They also have their own beer, so it was interesting to try something different. Very good service . Nice people. As someone from the USA I always think they have a bad image of us. And for good reason. I myself am not one of those and am glad I was treated very well everywhere I went in Edinburgh.

There are plenty of places to eat on the Royal Mile. Do not eat here. We ordered one chicken burger, chicken wings and fries. We were in at 3pm. After ordering we waited 45 mins for our food to arrive. I watched our burger sit on the hot plate for 21 minutes. When it arrived I asked for the bill for my drink and I don’t want the food as is not food safe to sit that long. Met with no response. I couldn’t even find a waitress to take payment for the cola that I had. Avoid avoid avoid!!!

Burgers délicieux (nous avons pris au poulet), rien à dire ! Frites de patate douce excellentes. Le serveur nous a même fait un bon rabais après un petit accident de ketchup sur mon pantalon... Je recommande !

Got a double Byron burger. Quickly regretted it. The meat is very dry - over cooked and the bun is old! Waitress was stressed yet did nothing. What a shame Byron! But look of a burger is instagram-friendly, agreed. Structure of the burger was well-made though.

Hamburger abbastanza buoni e buona scelta di birre, servizio un po' lento anche se il personale è gentile. Il locale è ampio anche se nei momenti di alta stagione non si trovano facilmente tavoli essendo lungo la royal Mile. Nel complesso buono darei un voto fra 6.5 e 7, quattro stelle a mio avviso sarebbero troppe perché facilmente non ci ritornerei.

The place was packed with people, but we had a table and didn't wait for being served after 10 minutes max. Such a pleasant atmosphere with great staff, hot and delicious food with so many options to choose.

Expensive and dry burguers, in the menu it is said that they are medium cooked and pink what's totally false (and they don't allow you to change the point of the meat). Also so not great fries but good ice cream. I wouldn't repeat.

Oh this was an amazing feed after a long grey day walking miles and miles around Edinburgh, storm Babette was wild! Comfy and warm with a vibrant atmosphere and attentive staff, great location and mix of people on adventures. And you can get it delivered. New option for treat night 😁
