The Chicken Tenders are delicious and the burgers are one of the best in town.

A fairly mediocre burger, but staff were nice. Not worth it except for the location.

Nothing special and a bit expensive for what it was.

The food was good, i liked the fried chicken alot. The staff okay the seating area too, however the sofas were so worn down.

Best sweet potato fries I've ever had. Service was a little slow but the restaurant was packed. Do yourself a favour.. get the Byron's sauce and squeeze a bunch of Tingly Ted's in it for your chicken tenders. **Chef's Kiss**

We came in here for a quick lunch. The burger and the fried chicken sandwich were delicious as were the fries. Our service was fast and prices were fairly reasonable.

The price of the meals is relatively reasonable compared to nearby bar-type restaurants. We ordered beef and chicken burgers, both of which were very delicious. Tourists come and go, but since it is peak tourist season, this is to be expected.

Byron was a bloody brilliant server and the service was quick. The food was really good.thanks again Byron for the great food

Good burgers and potatoes but too expensive.

Very disappointed. Chicken burger was low quality, like frozen piece that was thrown in dee-fry and sogging in oil. They charged £2.50 to add once slice of cheese and one slice of tomato! The sweet potato fries were cold, as I could see it was sitting for an hour on kitchen counter top to be served. The milkshake was more like old molten ice-cream, no milk added and not whizzed properly. Seriously, the staff were more busy chatting to each other, I had to point out to them my food was ready on the kitchen top to be served to my table.... next morning I had Diarrhea.. Avoid!

Best burger I have ever tasted and good value. Staff were excellent, attentive and very caring.

A rustic, modern atmosphere with rock music from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s playing in the background. The kitchen is open for the diners to see. A very busy, fast-paced restaurant. The small menu to make east choices. The staff are friendly and relaxed. Always around to check that your experience is enjoyed and your glass isn't empty. I really enjoyed being here.

Better than McDonald's. Not as good as Five Guys (but about the same price). Underwhelming bun, small burger and a small portion of chips - expensive for what it is. Tasted pretty good - just overpriced in my opinion.

Very delicious food and at a good price

Local on the main street of the city, we stopped for lunch attracted by the "proper burger" sign at the entrance. Service that we didn't like from the beginning... we waited at the entrance to have the table, as indicated, the waiters passed by and ignored us, despite several empty tables. Once seated, after a while we asked if we could order, seeing as no one was interested. The prices seemed lower than other places, but that's because the sandwiches are small and without side dishes, always included elsewhere (at least the classic chips). The quality of the food is not bad, which is why I don't give less stars. Dirty bathrooms. Despite many empty tables, in the end they rushed us to pay and leave. In summary... Not bad quality, but slow and rude service, you can find better at that price.

I tried once in London (South Kensington) and was perfect, now in Edinburgh Royal Mile, even better. Byron burger + Cider + sweet side. 10.

I can taste the chicken breast in the chicken sandwich (so it’s good). The sweet potato and tater tots are fun. The salad is delightfully coated with a balsamic vinaigrette. Too full but next time I would like to try their shakes.

We ordered two shakes and two burgers. Burgers were delicious and I just love the shakes, they are sooop good (too bad they are so expensive).

We ordered a plated burger (just the burger without cheese or other sauces or bread) and we paid the same as a sandwich, £10.60. we got a sandwich without some ingredients including pickles but it still arrived with pickles with a truly horrendous taste.

It took them 40 mins to make a basic cheeseburger. Not coming again.

Good burger and fast service! The fries were fun with the addition of Haggis and cheese. The Auld Smokey and Clucky were solid sandwiches. The house slaw was a little bland but some salt and pepper got it right up to speed.

The best burgers in Edinburgh Décor is a bit dated and out of place. Looks like a generic cold mass franchise restaurant. Service is slow, having to order on an app. Had a ask for a menu.

I've been to Byron for years at the Royal Mile restaurant. Burgers are always perfect. It's amazing how consistent the quality has been---proper burgers indeed. Well done!

I have visited Bygon before and the quality of the service was poor but the food was great.Yesterday ,both were poor quality.Burger looked like a childrens' portion (nothing like before),yet costs £14.When I have decided to have a glass of water and went up to the bar downstairs,the guy working there had a strange attitude as if I was asking for something they don't have.He filled up the glass with water and then kept overflowing water for some reason and placed the wet glass on the bar for me to take.When I have asked for a blue roll or napkin to dry it ,he was not impressed. No one came to ask how was my food even though it was not busy at all. Felt unwelcomed so never paid the service charge and yet no reaction from the server. Disappointed and won't be back. I am certain that you can do without me bringing business to you.Goodluck!

Excellent food and service, plus great city center venue on the corner of North Bridge and Royal Mile. Loved that they serve/are open late as suited my work pattern that day! Would highly recommend

The service here was beyond abysmal. We were told to just quickly pick a table, clear up our plates and tissues ourselves and the waiter spilt an entire pot of gravy on me and told me I was being messy. Avoid the American waiter here. This was from the little service we received since everything is ordered and managed through a qr code, with service charge non optionally added. It's frankly impressive how bad the service was given how little was required. The food was very expensive for just a burger which was average at best. The best part was the milkshake. Byron has never been at such a low point in its history. There are far far better options very close by.

Food and service were excellent! Ordering process via QR code (which I normally loathe) was easy and efficient. Only issue was that the music was a bit loud. Highly recommend!

It was a very mid experience. In previous years visits the quality of everything was much better. Food was not correct when brought to the table so we all ate at different times. Premium price for a subpar burger experience.

Hamburger + fries, perfect, very very good!

The food was good, the service was ok but felt like staff was hovering to take plates, including napkins from us as soon as we took our last bite. The atmosphere was blah.

We were seated in the bottom level of the restaurant, which was very cold. So, even if the service and food had been perfect, this would have spoiled the experience. We had to order on an app and pre-pay a service charge, which defeats the object of tipping. We waited ages for our burgers which were nice when they eventually arrived. Our dessert order was messed up - two shakes arrived and no cheesecake. The waitress checked and confirmed we'd been given the wrong order. My Vegan shake (wrong flavour )was taken away and replaced with another. Only after drinking this I realised that it was served with a black straw instead of a green straw ( all vegan shakes normally come with a green straw). I think I was just given another, normal, shake that was already sitting on the counter. There are various reasons why service is not going to be great at this restaurant - prepaid tip (we wouldn't have tipped if payment had been post-meal), tourist destination (you don't have to worry about ensuring return custom) and too many deliveroo/Uber orders.

Loved the burgers and also the option to not have it on a bun and have salad instead,my partner was very happy with this as he doesn't eat bread

Bit noisy. Downstairs looked nicer. Very tasty burger and chips were ok but burger chips and a pint of coke zero ran to £26 not the best value

Burger is good, but service was horrible. You have to order through their app, which didn't work, tried do hail a server for quite some time and when one finally came (after standing around for 5 minutes) they seemed annoyed. 20£ ++ for old fries and a burger with unmelted cheese is too much (Dirty Byron Burger 15£, Fries 4£)

Delicious burgers! Lots of vegetarian options. But there were quite a few things I didn’t like about the place: quite expensive, not enough food for the price (especially small fries), whole order system is online (so why do I even go to a restaurant then?! Might as well order online then I‘d get the food probably faster? Lots of delivery guys were going in and out while the customers were waiting)

The food overall was very good, however, only having the option to order by using the QR code is quite inconvenient and frustrating, especially if your phone isn't the best there is. Please don't make this the norm.

It is possible to serve decent food in a busy restaurant. The management of this place hasn't gotten the message, apparently. We waited 40 minutes for our food after being told we be served quickly. There was no way to cancel our order because with the cashless system, you have already paid and must wait with no ability to effectively interact with staff. It's a good bit to take people's money and leave them in limbo wondering when and if they will ever get served, as the "Track Your Order" option on the cashless system seems to be a psychological trick. When the order finally came out, the hamburger was a hockey puck and the fries and onion rings were barely warm. My salad never came and I had to track down the manager to ask what happened to it. Her reply: they just told me that we're out of salad. I incredulously asked her: And you weren't going to even tell me?!???? I guess the good news is that the wings didn't suck and the beer was cold. If someone in upper management ever reads this and gives a care, the servers worked very hard, and seemed to be very stressed, but the manager they have to labor under doesn't seem up to the job. Do yourself a favor and skip this good looking place.

Nipped in here on my way back to work. Fast friendly service and tasty food. Did find their portion of chips to be on the small side however I would definitely eat here again the burger was lovely.

We were seated really quickly, but then told we had to scan the QR code to order all our food and drinks. Which really sucks after a full day of taking photos and hardly any battery left. Thankfully, they did have wifi. When I finally completed our order, about to pay, I noticed we got charged a service charge for what...? There was no service to speak of. The drinks took a really long time to arrive, literally minutes before our food. The food was decent, but honestly, that is the only saving grace of this restaurant. I saw many people struggling with ordering in my time at the restaurant. It wouldn't be a first choice, that is for sure.

The burger is good. The size however is ridiculous for the price. We waited 35 minutes for 2 burgers. I think it's quite long for such a small order.

It's not worth it, cassless is a horror and you have to order on your cell phone. I hope this system goes completely extinct, the chicken fingues are a horror

Fast and terrific service/ food

The service was good and the bathrooms and facility was nice and clean. The location was what made us stop. Our fries were cold, the buns were cold which made the burger cold ish, and the bun was not good at all. The burgers and toppings were ok. I felt the patties were overcooked and not very juicy. We were definitely disappointed with our 40£ meal, and would certainly not return.

Overall, the food was tasty, but my burger bun was stale, as if it had been partially defrosted. Additionally, the sides and drinks are overpriced for the portion sizes. £3.95 for a 330ml can of soda and £4 for a very small portion of fries is excessive. While I enjoyed my meal, I wouldn't recommend it to friends and family.

Restaurant was relatively empty yet service was slow, waited half an hour for two burgers. I ordered the Edinburgh exclusive and saying it was mid is being generous, my mum loved her vegan Big Cheese though. Its a bit cheeky that you have to pay right when you order because they include a 10% service charge before you even have a chance to experience their service. Staff was nice, but focused so much on the take away orders that they neglected the restaurant dwellers. I was unironically trying to flag a server down for 15 mins to get a glass of water, I was literally in front of the bar. Music was good though and ambience was nice. Wouldn’t return though, burgers don’t even come with fries, you have to order them separately.

A hamburger restaurant on the Royal Mile. If you order online and pay with your card, your burger will be brought to your seat, no need for cash. There is no need to interact with store staff. There is also a kids menu, so if you have kids, the kids menu is definitely a great deal! The hamburger was delicious as usual.

Great food. Chose this after walking past and loving the look if the menu. We were welcomed, given seats promptly and served quickly. The food tasted great, there was a nice atmospere throughout our time here and the orice wasn't awful either.

Great food. Really really good burgers, and the kids had chicken which looked quality. Milkshakes were incredible.

Well... There is no service : we have to command on an app by ourselves, to pay by ourselves, there is no counselling, just an app. You could just go to grab a take away. The waiters don't do anything : they're just wandering in the restaurant, waiting to serve you a cold burger 30min late, and it takes them three (3) requests before they give you tap water. The only thing they're capable of is walking across the restaurant with the ingredients of the burgers, and the supposed clean crockery. Don't go there, you would eat better at McDonald's.

Recieved very poor service in particular an American guy just put our drinks down and didn’t ask who was having what and it was explained to us how to order. We waited over 50 minutes for food and were served cold chips which they did replace once this was brought to their attention. Surrounding tables were experiencing the same issues. I wouldn’t recommend here

The burger was very tasty and so were the chips. The menu is a bit unclear: am I adding extra or am I adding an ingredient that's not originally in the dish. A bit slow during an empty time. There is a lot of seating available and a lot of menu options.

Ive come here since the first week of opening when they used to cook the burger medium rare because it was the only choice in my opinion. Now byron management has replaced waiting staff with a QR scan code, so you order and pay online through your phone before the food is brought to you witch is so really sad..the staff are so friendly why are the management not taking advantage of this? Then have a cheek to put 10% service charge to the bill. Stop changing the menu all the time basically halved the entire menu again removed the b rex /c rex AGAAAAIN and others. Management trying to cut costs and it is really showing. Not far from a fast food place at this point. The 2 stars are for the 3 staff members i seen including the chef doing a fantastic job!! This is a restaurant we want to speak to people not ordered through our phones. I do love this place and hope it doesn't end up like the lothian rd branch. Bring back the b rex and the blue cheese dip or else 👊👊😅

The best burgers in Edinburgh. I recommend it to everyone. No greasy food. The first thing they ask you is about intolerances. And the method of ordering and paying online is great. Approximately €30 per person.

Food is fine but very overpriced at £17+ for a burger and tiny chips, and having to order yourself via QR code is annoying.

Nice place to eat in the High Street of Edinburgh if you want a proper burger! Salamat! The best ang saraaaap!

The food in here is excellent and cooked very well, atmosphere is very pleasant, the customer service is flawless, and the staff are very attentive and knowledgable. I highly recommend eating here if you are looking for somewhere to eat.

Great burgers, easy to order using the websitevfrom a QR code at your table, and a good selection as well as the ability to create your own burger which is great if you have a fussy 11 year old with you.

Went here on my 40th Birthday as a treat when we visited Edinburgh. Was not a good experience. Saw a mouse run across the dining area for a start!! Food was incredibly greasy, meat was very chewy and had been cut in pieces so every time you took a bite it all fell out of the bun. Only thing that was good was the service. Attentive, welcoming and polite.

Had to faff around ordering through a QR code, had to wait 45 minutes for food, all the while the kitchen was prioritising Deliveroo orders, half our order didn't show, was cold, service was rude - was asked by female waiter 'well do you want it or not?', told the table next to us what had happened and they wisely left, stairs leading to toilets were reeking of cigarettes - we have decided we'd never go back to Byron. Shame, it used to be one of our favourites.

An outstanding dining experience at Byron. I can honestly say that this was one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. The service was also incredible from the welcome, the special attention given to the kids and the general check-in to ensure everything was fine. Although the restaurant was busy, with the level of service provided it felt like we were all VIPs.

Stopped into Byron for dinner while strolling the Royal Mile, and enjoyed our food for the most part. Two of us are vegetarians, and we liked both the veggie burger and the vegan chicken sandwich a lot. Sweet potato fries and onion rings were delicious as well, and I enjoyed a lovely elderflower soda to drink. The meat-eater in the group thought his beef burger was just ok (but I think beef burgers in general are meh anyway, lol). One word of caution: if you are someone who is weirded out by using QR codes to order anything, like one person in our group, you probably want to try elsewhere. However it wasn't a big deal to the rest of us, and you only need one person in your group to help order for everyone, so it's fine.
