Visited for a meal early on a Saturday evening with friends. What a hidden gem of a pub/restaurant. Friendly staff. Food was superb and a great atmosphere. We'll be back for sure.

Love this restaurant - me and my partner came here for Valentines 2017 and had the best time. Such a lovely atmosphere and the food is incredible. Reasonably priced and walking distance from the river - Cannot fault!

We went here for a birthday celebration as a party of eight including two children. We had a variety of food between us including steak, fish, veal, pasta and pizza. There was not one of us who didn't say their food was excellent and I can personally say that the spaghetti carbonara is one of the best I have had. The staff were friendly and welcoming and Ther service was very good without being intrusive.

We booked in advance for 12 adults and 7 children. We were allocated the garden room which we just about squeezed into with high chairs and toddlers and babies and their car seats! The staff came out to us for our food order but we ordered drinks back in the bar area. The food was OK. Nothing special and a little overpriced for what it was. Mistakes with the food order meant one pizza had to be remade while we all ate ours. They were accommodating for a large group but the food was average at best.

Popped down last Friday after a stressful week, managed to get the last table in the restaurant - the bar was full. We went as we heard the pizzas were good, the rest of the menu wasn't too shabby either. Great specials board. Fish & chips is huge and the pizza's didn't disappoint. Will try the salads next time as they looked amazing

Went for lunch. Used to be run by two guys who had a fantastic Asian fusion menu. It is now a typical mediocre pub food place. Over cooked white bait, mushrooms done in tasteless yellow sludge. Will not return

Foot sore and dusty half way along the Thames Path, we were in need of some refreshment and place to rest for a few minutes. We could not have chosen better. This is a well-presented pub with an appropriate and good value lunch menu. The landlord could have not been more welcoming an he had an excellent style that engaged locals and those from further afield alike. We will definitely be going back.

A group of us were down in the area for the weekend and walked along the river in search of a pub in which to have lunch. We found The Ferryboat and were greeted with welcoming smiles and advised that if we wanted to eat (and as we soon found out, have drinks) we should order soon as they were due to close. It was 2pm. On a Saturday. However, we did manage to order both booze and food in time and both were served with speed and smiles. The food was all delicious and the wine that we chose was also great. The staff were very attentive and when it came to 3pm, they helpfully told us that although they were closing, we were very welcome to stay in the outside space and take our time finishing. We loved it there and loved that they were okay with us staying but we felt that the garden space let the place down a bit...it was a pokey little concrete area out the back of the pub. You could tell they had done the best they could, but in my opinion it could have been better and bigger.Overall however, our experience was great and if you're looking for good food, drink and great service then it's worth a visit. Just don't expect too much when you sit outside.

We were visiting the area so decided to pop in for an evening meal before going home the next day. We booked a table in the main restaurant which was wise as it got busy very quickly on a Thursday night! Super friendly staff with the owner popping over to our table to make sure everything was in order and a really nice relaxed atmosphere. Big log fire in the bar area was a nice touch and the food, yummy. Mozzarella garlic flatbread to start (enough for two) followed by chicken in a white wine and mushroom sauce for me and a "Diavolo" pizza for hisnibs; all washed down by a glass of the house red which was very quaffible (he said!). Good value, large portions and a nice way to spend the evening. Will definately return!

We came upon this establishment after visiting a national trust house in the area. So pleased we did, the welcome we received was friendly, made us feel comfortable and relaxed. We were not rushed, seating situated with plenty of room. Menu offered wide choice with the food being excellent. The place does close at 3pm re-opening at 6, bookings taken as well as walk-ins. Suitable surroundings for all ages and occassions. Heartily recommend to all.

We came in on a Saturday evening with a group of five and 3 dogs. The manager made us feel very welcome and very attentive. All the staff were lovely. The food was lovely, the steakburger was excellent, esp the blue cheese topping. I probably would have given the place 4 stars for food and location but the service was superb and brought it up to 5 stars. Definitely coming back again.

The menu had lots of yummy choices it was hard to decide but I decided on the spag bowl....perfect and lots of it, my daughter had the gammon and my hubby2b had scampi, meals were enjoyed by all!! Four of us visited the Ferryboat without a booking on a Friday night. We were found a table straight away, lucky I think, as it got busy later. The menu had several options I could have chosen, especially the starters. My partner and I shared each others as we couldn't choose. Our meals were served piping hot, and were well cooked and presented. Landlord checked if there was anything he could do to improve it. Only minor downside (not their fault) was the rather over loud group seated next to us, but we had finished our mains and skipped dessert. I would definitely recommend the Ferryboat, and look forward to working my way through the menu.

Four of us visited for a meal on a Saturday evening. Good job we booked as there were no spare tables even as we walked in!What a warm and friendly welcome from the Landlord and his enthusiastic team.We stood and chatted at the bar for a while, enjoying the real ale, then went to our table.Good range of typical pub-restaurant food with the emphasis on fish, but something there for everyone. Prices good for the level of restaurant. We all enjoyed our meal and we're almost the last to leave. Clever touch that the staff always remembered what we were drinking when it came to re-ordering. Well-run and recommended.

A lovely dog friendly pub with friendly staff and great food! A little off the beaten track but well worth the journey. The open fire and historic atmosphere definitely made us feel cozy in bad weather

Really nice warm individual atmosphere. Food was great and just what we needed before a long day the following. We overnight-ed in room 3 which had everything needed. I Managed to run an international meeting at 0600 so wifi was strong. Breakfast next day was really good and ready when we asked for it. Highly recommend The Fat Fox if you want to dodge the corporate bs and feel like a name not a number.

Back at last shame it was Shaun and Gemma’s night off. Very quiet Wednesday but we were late arrivals. Made welcome, choice of seating, nice to see pichets of wine on the drinks menu. Had tariiflette which was spot on and a good price as well. Made us feel guilty we don’t go here more often! Oh and they accept cash!

We decided on Sunday morning to try the Red Lion for lunch, and booked a table for 1330. We arrived and were met by efficient staff who were expecting us and offered us a choice of table. Drinks were ordered from a knowledgeable waiter and arrived quickly, mine being a very well-kept pint from tge local Amwell Springs brewery. We both chose beef from an extremely well thought-out menu which again arrived after only a short wait. The meat was beautifully cooked and presented on a large plate with very well cooked greens, carrots and a freshly-made Yorkshire puddings. Sides of cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes were excellent, probably the best roasties I've had, and the horseradish was similarly delicious. We both cleared our plates and the side dishes. Utterly gorgeous, go and see for yourself.

Great spot for a little family lunch. Sandwiches & cakes are delicious, nice surroundings & friendly staff. There’s also a box of books for kids to amuse themselves with. Not inexpensive but lovely for a treat.
