Gem of a place! Gorgeous view, nice beer, busy the last time we went and a bit of a queue for the bar but not a surprise really as it's perfect for a sunny day!

My Girlfriend & I stopped here after a 10 mile cycle ride along the Sankey Valley Trail. The staff were warm welcoming and very friendly. They didn't serve meals just offered a selection of pies/pasties. We went for the cheese and onion pasties. Which were very tasty and and a very nice pint and a half pint with blackcurrant of Guinness. Which was excellent too. Highly recommend this place and a beautiful location to stop and sit outside and admire the view over the river or the boats moored up on the canal

The manager here should be fired with immediate effect. Total incompetence and greed. They have changed all the soft drinks to cheap junk. The cola on draught here was the best in the town, we have been going here years. They have taken it out and replaced it with Pepsi max and the other Pepsi junk that tastes awful. The manager was thinking oh we, ll saved £4 on bag in box draught and replace it with something that everyone hates. Well done, you have just wiped out a huge customer base due to lack of knowledge of you're customers of many years and lack of experience in quality drinks. We won't be going here again for that reason. 20 years we have been a customer.

Awful experience, my husband was served by an unpleasant bar staff. Patrons were OK. Having lived in London all my life and recently moving down to Warrington, I can safely say the pubs in Warrington are less inclusive, less tolerant, less friendly than the pubs in London.

Food is through third party vendor, and whilst it's advertised within the phb as to which nights which vendor is providing, unless your a regular, you dont know before hand as to which menu is on "that night" so it's pretty much pot luck as to whether what you'd like is available. It's a popular pub, which often means standing in a line (sometimes out the door) to be served. With your typical array of local and guest beers.

What a lovely little pub! We visited in the dead of winter and overnighted in the car park, the pub was a beacon of warmth and light and beer! Probably helped they were having a beer festival at the time but it looked like they know their stuff with the beers the rest of the time. Sunday lunchtime crowd was a great mix of people stopping in for a tea/coffee and people there for a pint or two. Sometimes swapping between groups. Really want to come here in warm weather and sit outside and watch the river with a beer! Hope they get the food situation sorted.

The freshly made tuna mayo and chicken with stuffing sandwiches on granary bread were delicious today and nicely presented on the dishes. I have frequented the Horseshoe, Croft, on a number of occasions. On entering you may be forgiven for thinking that you have fallen through a time warp and gone back in time. Textured walls, high picture rails with plates balanced precariously, sixties style chandeliers (no bulbs) and that smell of a real pub which can only be achieved after years of beer being spilled on the Axminister carpet. If you enter from the front you are met by a low ceiling with olde world beams. To the left there is a paneled room and ahead a small bar. I always enter from the rear, as is my want, and I am, usually, greeted by four or five regulars, sitting at the bar like a Grumble Weeds Reunion. All give a welcoming grunt before carrying on complaining about things like life, body parts which are causing them pain or the price of cumquats in Aldi. The food is tasty and wholesome and there is a good choice on the menu. However, if you are a regular ‘Eater’ I don’t suppose it would take you long to tick all of the dishes off. They tell me that the squirrel in aspic is a ‘Must Have’. As far as the staff are concerned, I cannot speak highly enough of them. All very enthusiastic and helpful and willing to give a candid opinion on your choice of food. Likewise, the bar staff are extremely amiable, and I would like to give a particular shout out to Hannah whose smile lights up the room and who runs a very tight ship. There is a good selection of beers and other refreshing, fizzy, beverages and a cask ale. All in all a great little place, good food, good beer, great staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Unless, of course, you bump in to Peruvian Pete, the three fingered Poker Dealer from Wigan.
