Definitely go back dinner spot on

The food is ok but the service needs improvement.Order at the bar? And pay before eating ! I thought the food quantity was too much ,personal opinion of course . A large menu ,too large probably .The young servers need to be trained up ,ask if more drinks needed etc. Football match on the several tellies and pop music .Not the best ambiance This place could be a success ,just needs a bit more effort .

Busy kids had a lovely meal with free ice cream

Been numerous times and always excellent. Breakfast today was hit and miss with small things that can be quickly sorted. Order taken quickly. Drinks arrived quickly. Unfortunately meal didn’t come for a good 25 minutes later so we didn’t have a drink with our breakfast. Yes we could have ordered more but drinks usually arrive with meal. Ordered poached eggs which were all solid so had hard boiled eggs with breakfast. Again only small things that can be sorted but make a massive difference to a meal experience. Other food excellent. Music was loud so having a conversation was difficult.

New owners really transforming the place

wow, beautiful food, presentation beautiful, taste was perfect, arrived hot and freshly cooked. couldn't fault it . portion size is perfect. price fantastic. will definitely be my new favourite place to eat out. staff were friendly and welcoming .

Excellent food and customer service

Purchased 4 adult meals, a side and a starter and a round of drinks. The food was absolutely gorgeous. Absolutely faultless. The chips were the best I’ve ever tasted, home made, beautiful! Parmo was perfect, burger was perfect, wrap was perfect, cod and chips were perfect, onion rings were perfect and potato skins were perfect. Barry was extremely helpful tending to the specific needs of 2 very picky teens. Excellent value and beautiful home cooked food. (We had already eaten half the wrap, so it was twice as much than in the picture). Sorry the pics aren’t great, the food was fantastic! Highly recommended!

Great food, Great band playing great music

First time going since new owners bought it. Majorly gone down hill, the place is filthy. Sticky table tops and chairs. Cutlery stained. Walls dirty, radiator full of dust and grime. Even the television screen was dirty! Waited an hour for a sharing starter and the place wasn't even busy. When the food did finally rock up, it was cold and oily. Unfortunately won't be going back.

The staffs that are working at the bar are really cute and the full english breakfast is spot on mind you when asking for tequilla she might not reach hahaha 😆 good place for kids and families to visit

Hadn't been in The Fens for years but decided to call in with my brother for breakfast. We both had the large breakfast. He had a latte,I had a soft drink. It came to about £22. Breakfast was substantial and made up of good quality ingredients. Excellent service as well. Great value and will call again.

Always lovely. Friendly atmosphere..

Second visit brought my kids this time. Beautiful homemade food. Fish was better than any local fish shop. Service great and fairly busy says it all for a Wednesday evening. Will keep returning

Had a beautiful breakfast today. I only ordered a small breakfast but it was huge for me, beautifully cooked and presented with toast and a Cappuccino coffee. Great value, service very 😊 good. We will be back.

Great Sunday dinner with my husband and son 5 star

Me and my girlfriend visited The Fens on Saturday 30th March. We found a lovely table on the upper level and took a look at the menu, given there are no menus online. My girlfriend settled on the Katsu Chicken with half/half rice/chips and I went for the Bacon Cheeseburger without salad. Both of these dishes cost around £11.25 and we both agreed they were fantastic value for money, served in a good time and served piping hot and delicious. For drinks I bought a Guinness which was served nicely, poured in two parts the way it is supposed to be done, followed by a pint of Neck Oil which was very tasty. My girlfriend went for Rekorderlig Strawberry & Lime. Unfortunately we didn't get dessert as there wasn't any on the menus on the table, apparently they were written on the specials board but when I looked at the board there wasn't a lot to choose from really so we gave it a miss. The environment was lovely, they had a singer on who was pretty good. The staff were friendly and they had plenty on shift so waiting around for service wasn't an issue. We will 100% be back for more!

Visited today for lunch. Very impressed. I had chicken strips in Dianne sauce , my partner had parmo wrap both were delicious. Chips homemade always a winner in my eyes. We also didn't have to wait long for it to arrive Wil defo be going back with family

Absolutely over the moon with our visit to the Fens. We will be going again definitely. Highly recommended and not to expensive.

I chose the brie and bacon burger. I wish I hadnt. It was very very wet with oil/grease and so were the chips. I had a few bites and just left it. The waitress did ask if It was OK but by that point, I just couldn't be bothered, the meal had already taken 50 mins to prepare due to a mishap with the ticketing system. My friends katsu curry looked really nice though. They seem like nice staff too.

Went for sunday lunch with family after making a reservation. We sat at our table and waited , and waited , and waited watching the young waitress get closer then move away over and over ? Eventually we stopped her and asked if she could take a drinks and food order. She went on to tell us that its self service and we have to goto the bar. If we had been told or known this we would have done this. She then went on to tell us lunch is sunday dinner only although there was a specials board on the entrance ? I asked if there was chicken or turkey and she replied " no " which we thought was odd. So we went to the bar and stood inline with everyone else and waited to be served. While waiting we asked the waitress again about chicken / turkey as we were not convinced but again we were told " no ". Now for the food and price. Great value and very nice indeed. Real home cooked quality food. Would certainly recommend and will try again. As the food was being served we saw all the other tables getting there " Turkey " orders ? What can you say to that.. For the new owners a few words of advice Get everyone sat down and take there orders As soon as they have drank there drinks do it again ( you will double your takings ) as your older clientele wont keep getting up and will stick with one drink. Print and give out menu's ( you admitted you dont have any ? ) Keep making great food. Its bloody good At time i saw three waitress's stood at the bar beside the queue ? You have enough staff to do this. Its was like Butlins Good luck and see you again to try your parmo's. I have heard they are amazing 👍

Been tonight for bottomless brunch. I was sceptical about was it worth £35 per person but we were a group of 11 and it was worth every penny. The pub was really busy (which was lovely to see) but despite this the service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and the drinks were replenished regularly. There was a slight mix up with our food order, which I actually think was our fault, but they bent over backwards to rectify. There was a singer on who was brilliant but only complaint was he finished too early - managers took our feedback on board regarding this. Good luck to the new owners of the Fens and their staff, it was lovely to see it so busy and a really good atmosphere - I'm sorry but we will be back 😁

Large full english was best ive had in a while ..

Tasty Sunday roast, the beef was particularly tender, with extra gravy given to each table. Staff were very friendly and bent backwards to get us a table, at a busy time, even though we had not reserved. Atmosphere relaxed and friendly.

Have been here a couple of times. When we've been up to see family. Will be there again on Sunday 21st for Dinner. Loved the food last couple of times great amount of freshly cooked veg. None of the frozen stuff. We come up from Coventry and only use this pub when we go out to eat

Went for the Christmas meal menu. Delicious home cooked food. Excellent portions excellent taste. Definitely will be back to try other things on the menu. Great place for food.

We called in for tea at this pub enjoyed a lovely mixed grill. The pub is spacious so was fine for my mum who is disabled.

Always lovely food in the fens, regardless what you order.

Staff efficient and friendly. Unfortunately drinks are more expensive than other local pubs. Hopefully new management will put tables outside for use in good weather.

Out for a family meal and have to say that the Parmo burger was unreal. The staff were friendly, prices are brilliant for what you get and the food was spot on.

Staff were lovely, food was fast and hot. Parmo and chips were delicious. Carbonara was swimming in a crazy amount of oil and grease.

Beautiful home cooked food,Fin said the lamb was delicious and full of flavour, the desserts were fantastic and finished off a lovely meal for mother's day, would highly recommend.

I had the bacon cheese burger, it was huge and homemade, was very tasty but I couldn't eat it all. Staff are very friendly. Reasonably priced. 😃

Nice family meal shame they finish serving at 7pm place got cold later in the evening.

This is our local. Great home cooked food with consistent quality, generous portions and good value prices. Sunday lunch is superb and very popular, you need to book. Regularly have an interesting range of specials, the staff here are friendly and run a tight ship! The Fens is currently up for sale and I hope that the current cooking and bar staff remain after sale. Fingers crossed.

Food is delicious, all fresh home cooked meals, the service is second to none & it’s a very clean, friendly family pub. I go there all the time with family & friends. I would suggest you book your table in advance for Sunday lunch though as you may be disappointed & not get a table as it’s always very busy every Sunday but the Sunday lunches are absolutely beautiful, portion sizes are amazing with every meal too, the small portions are always more than enough for me…great place & I’d more than recommend The Fens for everyone.

The place has changed a bit since last visit quality of food gone down no idea if they changed kitchen staff but it's on a downward spiral sadly.

After visiting the nearby shops I called in for a pint , nice comfortable pub. Decent pint, good menu.

Called in for tea in between hospital visiting for four of us. Always very welcoming, service very good and quick. Food is always very tasty, hot and good portions. All four of us had different meals and the consistency was excellent. If you have not tried it, give it a go.

I was one of a party of 16 people celebrating a 60th birthday who attended the fens pub last night for a meal, the food was pre ordered due to it being a large party, all meals were served together which was piping hot, food well presented and really tasty, staff were friendly and very attentive. Thank you all for a lovely evening x

Great food and good prices, the only thing that drops it a star for me is the lack of any real ale or beer selection, John Smiths or nowt unfortunately.

Impromptu trip for afternoon food as I had seen the chips and they looked amazing. The food did not disappoint, for the price point the southern fried chicken wrap with chips was absolutely brilliant value and utterly delicious. Service was fantastic. Only complaint was the beer selection, only John Smith's on draft and none bottled. Food 9/10, Service, 10/10, Beer 6/10 Overall 8/10. Will definitely go back and try the pie!

Not the best ,heard good reports about it , It wasn't a good start as the wheelchair entrance is a piece of battered old board ! Also with double doors, I ordered steak & ale pie as you can see from the photo I never knew pies come in cups , with a piece of puff pastry on top , pub looks very tired, won't be back ,

Held our daughter and daughter in laws wedding reception here, food was fabulous, 18 people catered for all freshly cooked and hot, staff were very attentive could not do enough for the party x

This is a great pub with a fantastic atmosphere and the food is top drawer!

Went in with a friend for lunch. Had the slow braised steak. We got carrots, cabbage and chips with the meal and the gravy had chopped carrot in it. The meat was tender and it was a generous portion. Staff were very nice too. If my mum had served this up at home I'd have been happy. Just like home cooking.

Went for a few drinks on bank holiday Sunday. Was told they were going to close early as there wasn’t many people in. Refused us another drink and it was only just after 9pm. Won’t be going again.

Good food as always, best to book a table and get there early. We always go at 12 noon because its usually a family meal and that time is best for us and always wait a good hour but the food is freshly cooked and always nice. Chicken parmo is nice and the fish and chips too.

Went for Sunday lunch. Staff very friendly excellent service. Lunch was lovely, no skimping on anything. Too much for someone with small appetite but tasty everything freshly cooked. Next time might ask for children's size. Definitely recommend.

Very disappointing, in the past the food has been great, but today I found it tasteless, overpriced and undercooked, also found out that you can't get a smaller meal, as most pensioners have small appetites. The only good thing about it was the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Went with family for a meal as recommended it was atrocious never in my life have you had to pay for you meal up front and to be asked before you get it will you be having a sweet what I thaught was going to be a lovely evening turned out to be very dissapointing not amused one bit needs to change their policy and manners will not be going again
