Cafe rappor in Hartlepool

If you want consistently good food, coffee, and beer, this is a great place. However, the service is terrible, unlike before. Before, it was quick and attentive. Now, it's non-existent to the point that the staff actually avoids eye contact. It's normal on any day to have to leave your seat to order additional drinks or food. If you sit and watch, you will see this happen over and over. Come on, owners, look around and sort this out. You have a great business.

Great location right next to Hartlepool Marina. Tasty coffee & tea. Prices were very reasonable. Inside has a casual, relaxed vibe about it. The staff were friendly & helpful.

After a visit to the museum went as a family of 3 highchair provided. Very cheap and food was delightful service fast and nice and clean and lovely staff and atmosphere will be returning. Only thing I would suggest is kids portions and chips to the menu thanks. We had the chilli and rice and tuna melt.

Used to be the go to place for a great coffee and food. New slimmed down menu and coffee nowhere near as good. We presume it’s changed hands. Won’t be returning and we live at the marina. Such a shame.

We were looking forward to brunch but found out that they stop serving the breakfast menu at 11am and we arrived at 11.10am after traffic delays. Only had coffees as a result as did not fancy the lunch menu. Therefore, disappointed with the 11am deadline. Hence 4 stars on this occasion.

We go in here every Saturday and the last few weeks have been very disappointing there is a new girl and she hovers over you waiting for you to finish to take your cup or plate ,my sister went to loo and she took her drink that was quarter full then stood over her daughter why she was drinking hers soon as she put glass down she took it ,this week again she came to clear up and I actually told her we not all fin can you wait she looked pissed off and walked off the jacket was on point as always but the cake was stale I'm a cake maker so was disappointed 😞 we just feel we get rushed out everything we have been lately I think the new girl needs some extra training we said we are going again once more and if things don't change we will change cafe what was once a lovely place now feels like we aren't welcome shame really as other staff lovely

I've been here a few times now, the most recent and last will be the last. I understand there's a wait when it's busy, but when meals between us take 10 mins to be brought out and Luke warm. For the price you pay you'd expect it to be better. Won't be returning.

Called here after a walk up from Seaton. Food was amazing. Staff really friendly. Will definitely be back.

Two cups of coffee that were mainly froth. Ordered two scones which by the time they arrived the froth was cold. Scones were really dry too. Nice layout inside but the food and drinks leave a lot to be desired.

As always the food was delicious and staff were polite and were always smiling. Me and my family came here for our dinner all the food was amazing as usual. Staff were always about asking if you needed drinks topping up or if your food was nice. Would definitely recommend to friends or family if they were looking for somewhere to go.

Struggled to find the place due to poor signage but when we did, we were impressed by the layout and cleanliness. It gave a very good impression. The menu isn't great, giving no description whatsoever to the breakfast items and so we had to ask what was going to be on the plates. We ordered two full English (no description at all on the menu). When the plates arrived they were well presented but it was very obvious that the ingredients were very low quality. The bacon was very very overcooked and crumbly but this alone would not have ruined the meal. It was the quality that did that. Low quality hash brown which was soggy and unpleasant to eat, sausages that were about 90% grain. The poached eggs were nicely prepared, but super pale yolks so again, very low quality. The only thing that tasted nice was the black pudding. Even the ketchup was absolutely terrible, watery and with a very strange sweet, fruity taste. We left a lot of uneaten food on our plates and won't be going back. It's a shame because the restaurant is set out to a high standard and the atmosphere was pleasant despite the music being a little loud. We'd have happily paid a little more for better quality ingredients and we've definitely paid less elsewhere in the past for better than was served here.

Came for a couple of drinks and coffee. Nice americano. My beer was lively and cold. Staff behind bar were friendly. We sat outside and was lovely in the sunshine.

If you go after 9 O'Clock on an evening don't be surprised if you find it closed. They advertise later opening times but tend to close randomly.

Quite pleasant atmosphere more for the mature clientele. They advertise opening hours till 11pm but don't be surprised if you go after 9 O'Clock and find it closed, especially on a weekday.

It should be packed! Lovely venue and staff. It's such a shame parking issues are spoiling it!

A dedicated children's menu would be great if there was one.

A great cafe, shame the owner of the land outside charges £2 for parking. If that wasn't the case the premises would be packed.

First time here, very good nice little menu cracking bar. Also the service was excellent good team working together.

Very disappointed…I understand it’s dog friendly place, but when the serving staff stroke other peoples dogs, you would at least expect them to wash their hands, before going back round the bar to serve drinks,food etc..This happened the last time I was there and with two different members of staff. I thought I would try it again (my friend didn’t believe me) so it might have just been a one off, but exactly the same happened! The people near noticed this too and were mortified. A Massive hygiene problem as far as I’m concerned and I won’t be returning as will the people near to me. Lovely place but can’t get my head around having the same unwashed hands serving my food and drinks. Hand sanitiser on the bar top to use could be useful, so people can see hands being clean before service at least.

We ordered panini's and drinks the drinks came fairly quickly however we waited 25 mins for our panini's by which time we had finished our drinks. The food service was shocking I asked at the bar how long it would be as it had already been 25 mins and we still had no food . We noticed the food service was so slow and very poor . No apologies for how long the food had taken it's ashame as this cafe was always efficient seems to me noone is bothered about customer care . Food quality was nice .

Any pub that sells Guinness need to realise you're probably from time to time going to get a Guinness drinking customer. I seriously think Guinness need to send out reps to show the bar staff how to pour a proper pint, including the angle of the glass, the two part pour and the final product. Barman overpoured it and then... I couldn't believe my eyes, got a straw and levelled off the head... On a pint of Guinness. WTAF!!

We popped in for lunch, attracted by the fact the place was busy. We found a quiet table in the corner and we’re impressed by the decor and atmosphere. The food was great and well priced and the service friendly and efficient.

I have visited this venue on many enjoyable occasions, great food and friendly service. I only have two criticisms, the rip off mini bottles of Cola, and what really screams at me, is the incorrect spelling of Rappor! It should have a "T" at the end of the word, as in Rapport!! There is no such word as Rappor!!

Friendly staff food lovely would recommend

After frequenting this cafe for many a year and enjoying every visit, today’s experience was a shambles, not to mention overpriced for what we had. Staff showed very little interest, and we felt more of any inconvenience. We beckoned the waitress over, placed our orders of 2 full English and 2 avocado on sour bread. Waited for almost twenty minutes, then the waitress appears with the first avocado on one slice of very thin sour dough, on the largest plate possible. Perhaps they didn’t have any small ones to accommodate portion size….We had to ask her to clear away our empty coffee cups to make room, who walks away from a table empty handed? Four minutes later the second one appears with two broken poached eggs. We tucked straight in as mine was already getting cold. 15 minutes later, we had already finished our offerings before the full English appeared. I told the waitress we weren’t at all happy about the service and the wait, it went straight over her head, no apologies, or an offer of a complimentary coffee….nothing! Once again, we had to ask her to take away the dirty crockery….who trains these people? We didn’t even get a follow up visit to the table to ask if everything was ok. The delay and poor service couldn’t be blamed on the amount of customers because there was only a handful of tables occupied. Sadly today was our last visit, the customer experience of a welcoming ambience was non existent.

I had the smashed avocado on sourdough with poached eggs and sirrachia sauce. Washed down with an americano. It was delicious. Eggs cooked to perfection. Hubby had the full english which he washed down with a flat white, which he said was delicious. 10/10 would highly recommend and we will be returning.

Called in here for a latte and cake, both of which we enjoyed.

Nice quiet bar on the Marina. Serving good tea, coffee and snacks during the day. Waitress service till evening time. A place to go for a quiet chat and relax.

Having not visited for many years due to crazy increase in car parking fees, I went along to Cafe Rapport last night with 3 family members and was not disappointed. The place is as I remembered …….. same welcoming, easy atmosphere with a great vibe! What impressed me most was the three young staff on duty, ably managed by a young man called Tom. They worked well together attending any and all customer needs like a well oiled machine. I love that the owners of these establishments are placing confidence and opportunity in our youth, instilling in them responsibilities and people skills that will stand them in good stead for future employment. Well done Cafe Rapport! I won’t leave it too long before my next visit!

Cafe rappor wow just wow, I can't believe I've never been there before in my life!, Highly recommend for travels from all across Britain coming to Hartlepool 😁 staff where excellent allowing me enough time to consume my well poured pint of cider! The young man at the bar Thomas was excellent in his service and even had a couple jokes with me and my father, again highly recommend to all visitors looking for any type of drink from cappachino to double vodka and cokes 😁😁🌟🌟

We have been coming here for years , and we are regulars , but won’t be anymore, which is such a shame really as it is a lovely bar. But since it opened up after lockdown for me it just seems to be going from bad to worse. In December when we visited every week, the larger was very week and didn’t taste right and we did complain, the other week we decided to have an Irish coffee, when she brought it to the table it didn’t even look right let alone taste right. It looked and tasted as though it had been made with tea. Last night we were in and decided to have just a latte it was like drinking a cup of milk. So over our last few months of visits, we are finding no matter what we choose to drink everything is very week. So for that reason we are now going to find somewhere else to go and won’t be back.

We've been regular customers for the last seven years and have overlooked several issues but after today, we'll be taking our custom elsewhere. The following issue could easily have been rectified if the had manager shown an interest and taken some accountability. We arrived today at 11:55 and ordered food straightaway. Forty minutes later and we still hadn't received our order. As our three year old was getting fussy, we asked waitress who said she would find out. When she returned, she apologised and explained that our order had been lost. This is the first time, in any restaurant, an order has been lost. How, in a café, with only two other groups of customer, this issue wasn't spotted, I'll never know. She then explained that she had previously queried this with the manager. Despite this, no one had come over to us to ask and it was left to me to ask. While this was happening, the manager continued to play with Christmas decorations and occasionally glance over. We were asked how we would like to proceed by the waitress. We were charged for our drinks and left with no effort of an apology from management.

Called in at lunch time had a panini and a latte my partner had same. Staff very friendly. It’s a very busy cafe so you may struggle to find a seat we had to wait for people to leave. A bit on the pricey side it cost us approx 20.00

A great find. We ventured to the marina in search of a snack mid afternoon having missed lunch earlier. Seating outside in the sunshine was lovely and the dog enjoyed the water provided. We ordered inside with very friendly and courteous staff. The menu was quite extensive and we opted for loaded nachos and the pate platter. Both were an excellent standard. Nachos often aren't that loaded but these certainly were. The pate and cheese platter was also a very good portion.

Met daughter here one lunchtime. Great vibe & atmosphere. Plenty to choose from on menu - can recommend the winter broth with dumpling & bread which was delicious. Wide variety of drinks, hot & cold. Plenty of parking (paid) around Marina. Will return on an evening to perhaps have an alcoholic drink & food.

Title "Oh my".. implicates that the whole visit that me and my family do are always happy upon sitting and leaving. The lady and her staff here always happy to help and conversate and knows exactly how my cousin has her coffee without us asking. Couldn't say anything negative when there's no negativity to go by on in here.

Had a really patronising comment off a girl who worked there to me and my friends because only 1 of us ordered a drink and others weren’t ready to order yet made us feel really uncomfortable so we got up and left and went elsewhere.

I have been visiting Coffee Rapport for over 10 years. It's a great place and I continue to be a customer, but I haven't given it 5 stars because I'm not too keen on the staff. They seem to have a very quick turnaround and whilst I'm not discriminating against anyone they seem to just employ young girls who are probably students. I have nothing against students, I'm one myself, but it is a relaxing coffee shop, with a lot of older clientele, but they have McDonald's type staff, which kind of spoils it for me. In addition I ding that they are very patronising to middle aged and older but people. There was one girl in particular who used to speak to my friend and I as if we were senile!!!! At the time I was 49 and my ffriend was 56! A lovely place, but would be better with more mature customer focussed staff.

We popped in here just for a drink as we were visiting Hartlepool. The staff were friendly and the food did look nice but we weren’t hungry. I was surprised how busy it was on a Tuesday lunchtime!

Met up with my partner after she'd been out for a friend's 50th. We popped in here for a couple of drinks together. Place was busy, but staff very friendly and helpful despite being really busy. Wine was brilliant and also a good price. Cannot beat this venue

We chose to have a few drinks here before going to the nearby Thai restaurant. I love this place for different reasons, depending on the time of the year too. Very friendly staff and very clean, the decor suits and enhances the ambiance. Drinks are reasonably priced and went down really well.

After a disastrous visit to Black Olive popped into Cafe Rappor. Served within minutes. Lovely coffee, smoothie and food all delivered hot and beautifully presented. Well done

Went for lunch here today with my mother and sister and can't tell you how disappointed we were with the food. My mum and sis ordered the steak in ale pie. The meat was tough and gristly and the veg stone cold. I ordered the cottage pie which was clearly from a supermarket and not a quality one either. We all ate very little of the meals. When the waitress came to clear our plates she didn't comment on this, nor did she ask if we had enjoyed our meals, just took them away. This is obviously a common occurrence. Won't be returning.
