Several visits to this excellent pub. Great Sunday lunch and simple well cooked evening meals. Great staff and a great atmosphere

Stayed for a few days in Budleigh. The Feathers looks tired but it is a friendly local pub with great atmosphere, lovely service and delicious, honest food. My friend was delighted with the choice of beers and each of the three meals we went in for were very good, especially my Sunday roast; lots of gorgeous veggies, lean meat, tasty gravy! If you want a flashy pub with squiggles on a plate, forget the Feathers. If you want a decent, comfortable, welcoming English pub, this is it.

I had a small Scampi & veg.it consists of about 5 and a half very tiny Scampies .Such a small plate ,like a cake plate. It seems poor value for £8 It was so embarrasing to look at.I was so hungry after.A small portion was a minute wee portion. A bit mean with the servings. Staff are nice & ambience was great. Menu has been cut down, I use to love the Sausages,but no longer available.Maybe time for a change.

Great food with a very good choice including specials, and value for money. Just what you want from a local pub. We visit often.

My daughter and I enjoyed a superb mussel risotto with trio of fish that would not be out of place in high end establishment. Very friendly experience, staff wonderful. 10 out of 10. There was an amazing choice of fresh fish dishes. I wish I could move from Worcestershire.

We have an elderly friend who has recently gone into a nursing home in Budleigh. We went to the Feathers today for lunch and were extremely happy with the food we had together with the lovely staff. Brilliant all round, thank you.

Fabulous Otter Ale a short distance from the brewery. Piping hot food. Clean and variety of leather seats

Always top quality home cooked food! We had the scampi and fish and chips. Homemade tartar sauce is fab! Great that they offer small plates.

Fabulous pub, nice and clean and a welcoming landlady, Zena. Food also good especially the steak and black pepper sauce (almost as good as mine 😋. Definitely recommend

This is a local, with great atmosphere and a friendly host. The food is dependable, reasonably-priced pub fare. I ate here twice. What appealed is that, at my age, I don't usually want a big meal: the Feathers offers very reasonably-priced smaller servings. I'd recommend the fish and chips.

Great place for a lunch. Staff welcome everyone, we had to use a side entrance as one of our party was in a wheelchair and they were very accommodating. Dig friendly too, will visit again.

We had a lovely pub lunch on Holy Saturday, Easter Week. The haddock was beautiful and the crab sandwich was fresh and delicious. Only complaint was we ordered a large portion with the fish n chips and there wasn't enough chips even for a small plate. So ordered extra chips. Chips were gorgeous though. Overall good food.

Popped in for the advertised curry night. £10 for drink and curry. Like to support our local businesses but I will not be back for this. 4 bits of chicken in curry with a load of peas. Did not look appetising and was not good. Extra £1 for Nan which was awful and out of packet of 50 I think. They also for the second time in recent weeks served me Heineken beer in a coors glass. I can’t stand that. So overall not my best experience.

This is a fantastic pub. Very friendly staff, choice of small or large portions from a varied menu. Great real ale too. We go often.

Our second time visiting the feathers and again, it didn't dissapoint. The staff are lovely and the food is fantastic. See you again in Novomeber 2023. The baileys girls x

What a terrible experience. Looked for a decent pub whilst travelling in the area, regrettably we chose this one, what a mistake. We walked in and asked for a table, admittedly it was only about 12.15 on a wet and windy day, but we were the only people in the place. Ordered three drinks a Malbec, a pint of Heineken and a sparkling mineral water. The Heineken was taking ages to pour, (the barmaid said it was a bit lively), and after about five minutes that landlady arrived and said it was because they had not pulled through the pipes from last night. Eventually I was presented with a pretty flat pint, was then told they didn’t have any sparkling mineral water, and was served the wine. Should have left at this point! Ordered food, Home cooked ham eggs and chips, and my wife ordered a hunters chicken and coleslaw, I asked what the chicken came with and was told chips and peas. Pub was freezing cold, asked if the wood burner we deliberately sat next to could be lit, waiter said he would ask, he came back saying no it might be lit tomorrow! Food arrived hunters chicken but no peas! Asked for the peas but was then told it only came with coleslaw, but they could give us peas if we paid another £1.00. Home cooked ham was not in a million years home cooked. Asked again for fire to be lit la flame attended and stated weather had only just turned, and it might be lit in a week or so. We arrived at the feathers at approximately seven pm. We we're shown to a table which was the last one. The table was situated in a corner. It's a dog friendly pub, but where our table was, the only place for our boxer dog to lay was right in the way when people want to go to the loo or bar. After about ten minutes of people giving us dirty looks and moving our dog about, we decided to leave.

We had a fantastic evening at the feathers. The pub, staff and owners are extremely welcoming, helpful and couldn't do more for us. The food was fantastic and there was a great amount of drinks to choose from. It has a lovely proper pub feel and we loved it. We will be returning soon

Visited on a wonderfully warm Sunday in October. Had just had a cream tea on the sea front and only planned to have a quick drink. However after seeing all the Sunday roasts being brought to the other tables we enquired if there was any chance of some food. Fortunately there was. Had a small roast pork and a small roast beef. Proper roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings, extra gravy if needed too. Would definitely go back and have a large dinner. Tasted so fresh and a decent price too.

Ate here twice. The prices are good. I opted for the steak and ale pie, hubby a sirloin steak and son a beef burger. All very reasonable but a special mention goes to the steak pie. It was very good. Recommend a visit.

My wife and I remember the Feathers from several years ago,when it was a thriving pub/restaurant with a great atmosphere and good wholesome food.My how times change!We ate there very recently and there was no atmosphere and the food we had was awful.We shall not be be returning.Should you decide to pay a visit we suggest that you avoid the roast.

Very average pub in little village - nice little garden out back. Food was average - so were a little disappointed - waitress was really quite rude in her stance and tone. Prob would not go again

Pub was nice enough - And the manager and bar staff all seemed helpful. The beer garden was also lovely and socially distanced. When ordering our food, we were told it would be 20 minutes until it would be delivered to us. After about 35 mins we went to the bar to ask where it was, and they said it would be next. We waited another 15 mins and no food still. In this time, other people got fed and had got onto deserts. After complaining again, we had to loiter around the kitchen and take it in a takeaway box. I’m sure on another occasion it would had been fine, but we were neglected this time.

Four of came here for lunch and were met by a warm greeting. We all ordered different meals, mine was the home made beef and ale pie. It was lovely i really enjoyed it and washed down with a lovely crisp pint of Thatchers.

An excellent meal, very nice pub for families. In the Budleigh town centre situated near to the shops, it’s cozy and very friendly locals. Highly recommended!!.

The staff were lovely from start to finish. They had great processes (COVID 19) in place to protect customers. Our starters were fresh, hot and extremely tasty. My partner said his rump steak was the best steak he had in a long time. My pork and apple burger was cooked well and tasted great. Would highly reccommend.

Recently visited with relatives and once again received a lovely friendly welcome. Food outstanding and good value. Also has the bonus of a surprise garden at the rear which is lovely to sit in during the summer. Fully deserving 5 stars.! . Living locally we intend to make this our local as unfortunately our village pub is very unwelcoming.

Good sized portions and fish was nicely cooked.Limited beer choice on the night but decent enough.Staff friendly and service good under the circumstances (COVID).Sat in beer garden as indoors was full and outside back was used by smokers.

Excellent steak and ale pie and you could tell it was home made. Staff were very attentive and pleasant, will certainly be coming back and well worth a visit.

Simply Lovely... We came here today on 27/07 with a family of five with a dog, the staff were friendly helped us due to not booking and catered for our needs, the dishes we had were the burgers, ribs, and plaice all were superb and a great last meal to end our Devon holiday.Thank you to all the staff for there hospitality

Great pub, friendly and good value. My steak meal was superb and you certainly dont leave here hungry. We ate in the family part of the pub but they also have a traditional public bar with darts, pool table etc. We were only in Budleigh for a long weekend but this was our favourite

Lovely friendly warm and welcoming pub/resturant. I popped in early in the day to see if they had the Liverpool game on BT Sport and was told yes. Came back later in time for the game and the friendly landlady remembered and made sure game was on a screen with others showing the Exeter City game. Bar full of locals who were friendly and welcoming too! Nice range of beers and larger and attentive staff.

We had returned for a week in Budleigh from our main home in Malta and were joined by two friends from Yorkshire for the weekend. On the Thursday they arrived we went for an evening meal. Two excellent chicken madras curries, salmon steak in sweet chilli sauce and bubble and squeak with ham and egg. Generous portions and all very tasty. We returned as a party of 5, including a friend and neighbour from Budleigh, for Sunday lunch. The lamb shanks with red wine sauce were very good, as were the Sunday roast dishes. Service was friendly and attentive. Great local pub and well worth a visit!

I first reviewed this about a year ago when I had then recently moved to the area, at the time I was in the process of renovating a property and being without a kitchen, this gave me the excuse of visiting The Feathers on a regular basis. They have a varied set menu and in addition a specials board, which includes fresh locally caught fish when in season, the food being of an excellent quality, they have a good selection of draft beers, and an impressive wine list.I've got to say I'm not easily impressed but now having known the place for nearly a year I can confirm that this is a really really good, brilliantly run pub, where they have combined efficiency along with friendly helpful service.This is one of, if not the best pub I've ever been in.

We decided on the 3 course Christmas menu as it looked very good value for money at £20 per head. Not expecting anything too fancy for the price, we were very pleasantly surprised. The main course was probably one of the best roast dinners I've eaten for a long time, and everything cooked to perfection. We both opted for the Christmas pudding which was home made & delicious. A real treat.

Very solid pub with friendly staff, excellent homemade food and good beers. The steak pie, with either chips or mash and peas was first class as was the vegetable soup. WiFi reception is a bit hit and miss. Dog-friendly.

We had Sunday lunch here and it was delicious. We both had the pork - it’s served on a large plate with plenty of fresh veggies, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pud. We went here for Sunday lunch OMG it was amazing the meals are huge with loads of good quality meat & vegetables.The atmosphere was good & the staff was very pleasant & accommodating this will defiantly be a regular place for us to eat also dog friendly which is a huge bonus.

A visit that started so well, bar staff very friendly but the “regulars” racially abuse my boyfriend. The landlord witnessed the behaviour and did not throw them out. We left very upset and very offended. Do not visit.

Have eaten here three times now, staff, atmosphere and food fantastic and they have a chef, not a cook. Prices so good, quality brilliant. Cannot wait for next May when we holiday here again.

We were in Budleigh Salterton around lunchtime and came across The Feathers which we decided to try for lunch and wow we were not disappointed.

Having lived in Budleigh for some thirteen years it is really good to have an exceptional pub on the door step. The food is great and the staff very friendly, efficient and helpful.

We have revisited recently with family as we were told that it was a very different experience since it changed hands. The atmosphere is great, along with the excellent service and food. We have now eaten a couple of times and we highly recpmmend the Feathers (especially the gammon). Whenever we are in town we will certainly visit again.

Staff welcoming and hard working, but possibly too few. Good food well presented. Good selection of dishes on the menu, but not too many, and prices reasonable.

Had a great meal again and ended up staying for the entire evening, had beef curry which was lovely hubby had home made burger which looked huge and tasted great ( he wouldn't let me try it ) how rude!! Had a good laugh with fellow customers and staff, land Lord and land lady made every one feel welcomed, well done all.

Beautiful food, helpful staff! If you're on a holiday in budleigh or a local to budleigh I'd suggest you come in here! The up stairs beer garden has recently been done up and made to look lovley! Even if you pop in here for one drink you're made to feel welcome!

At first we visited for just a drink but then saw the food that was coming out and how welcoming the landlady was and we booked for the following evening for dinner. The landlady couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating sorting us out a table (there was a large number of us) and chatting to us - a huge credit to the pub/restaurant.

We visited here by chance while on holiday and SO glad we did. We popped in here the day before for a quick drink and after how nice everyone was and how good the food looked we decided to book for the next day. The landlady made sure we was booked in as a large table and she couldn’t be more helpful. Everything was perfect specially the food. My pie was world class and my wife’s fish perfect. Such a shame we don’t have a restaurant like this near us.

With the grandchildren here for a week, we decided we'd eat out, a little treat.

Popped in on a very busy Thursday evening, every table was full, we were told of a delay on food which was fine,food came earlier than expected, food was incredible the special chicken korma was better than most Indian and was full of flavour, my wife had the steak pie and that was also delicious. Excellent service all round.

We were advised to eat at The Feathers by a local lady who found us mulling over the menu outside. She said the steak & ale pie was a must & she wasn’t wrong! Homemade pastry with huge chunks of beautifully tender steak in a rich, tasty gravy. Roast potatoes & veg made it the best meal we’ve had on our holiday so far & fantastic value for money. A warm welcome by staff & a cosy atmosphere will definitely ensure that we have it on the top of our list next time we visit.

The staff were attentive but served our drinks in un-clean glasses. There was lipstick and grime on our glasses. How much effort does it take to clean glasses between customers??

Wow could not explain how dirty the place is! Got a tissue to wipe round the top of our glasses and it was so grimey we could not even finish our drinks! Even though we are local am sure never to go there again....

We have walked pass the Feathers many times when we have visited Budleigh over the years but not now. What a turn around. Food and service were very good. Real value for money plate of good food at a reasonable price with some excellent customer service. What more can you ask for ? We will be back so keep up the good work.

Popped in for a quick pint on our way back to the campsite after a couple of hours in the town and on the beach. Nice beer selection, reasonably priced and nice little courtyard and garden to sit in. Friendly staff, dog and pushchair friendly

Called in this pub after a walk from sandy bay over the stunning cliffs. So was ready for a pint when we got there.so we would just like to say if you are in the area please call in.we were welcomed by the young lady behind the bar with open arms.(she is from Portugal) then we meet the landlady who could not be any nicer if she tried. And ps she has a lovely hair do.(and I told her so) we then asked how to get back to sandy bay.and was put in the hands of a local who was so helpful and informative about the area. Everyone in this pub is so welcoming and friendly. Ps did I mention they do great food as well..we will definitely be back
