The Feathers hosted us for a family/friends get together the night before our wedding and they were absolutely wonderful. Irene, who we liaised with throughout, is the utmost professional and very well organised. She made us both feel comfortable from the word go and we couldn't believe how lucky we had been to find her/the Feathers. She knew exactly the atmosphere we were going for and went out of her way to design us a special menu for the evening, which was greatly appreciated. Niamh, who looked after us during the event itself, was absolutely fantastic and is a credit to the Feathers team. We had also planned a picnic for the Sunday after our wedding, but unfortunately had to cancel because of poor weather. Without any hesitation Irene offered us a space at their sister pub, the Stamford, and made sure we were welcomed there and had the best time. We honestly cannot recommend hosting an event here enough - they will make you and your guests feel so welcome, with excellent food and very reasonably priced drinks. Thank you so much to the whole team at the Feathers!

We had an excellent experience here. Had the hot beef ciabatta with real chips followed by apple crumble. The food was hot, plentiful and tasty, the service first class and the meal was excellent value for money. The bar area has a very pleasant atmosphere - all in all excellent and I will definitely return.

Stayed there. They only had one room left and it was a budget room. It certainly was! Twin beds in a very old fashioned room. To be fair they are modernising so should improve. But breakfast was included and was very good. One night was enough there. A few tradies use it. Food looked quite good in bar. Several areas do need updating and seems to be a work in progress.

We had lunch today at The Feathers and were wonderfully impressed. Bar staff are lovely and friendly. The menu is pub fare with a few surprises but not usually what we would go for. Enticed by scampi and chips, not a bar meal I have had in ages, it was a retro moment. We stepped in. A steak ciabatta alongside a small scampi and chips, (they were not small portions) for @ £20. Honest food with quality ingrediants. The scampi really did have langoustines in them as opposed to scraps of fish of inderminate origin; the steak was quality and cooked wonderfully. The hand cooked chips were home cooked, not out of a freezer bag. Walking in, there is a Crossroads vibe, but walls don't move, the locals are welcoming, food excellent and well worth continuing the exploration.

We had a lovely time here, we sat in the bar area as it looked cosier than the restaurant. Lucy our server was friendly, kind and so efficient. She anticipated our needs and nothing was too much trouble. There was a little wait for our meals but (this was apologised for and clearly explained that, there was a new chef and they were still learning the menu), I couldn’t fault the food. To start I had the ham hock terrine - good ham flavour not overly salty with a crispy flatbread - slight misnomer it was soft and chewy but nice. and my husband had the chicken liver pâté and melba toasts- both were good. For the main course I had the Harissa chicken - this was juicy and full of flavour, flatbread -soft and chewy with sweet potato fries - nice and crispy. My husband had the beer battered haddock - fresh tasting with a decent batter and chunky chips - very good. My daughter had the burger and chunky chips from the children’s menu she really enjoyed both and especially the children’s vanilla ice cream. My husband and I shared the lemon and ginger cheesecake, that was lovely - nice and deep, not too sweet and the lemon was nice and sharp. Unfortunately was no facility for adding a gratuity with the card machine, so I would bring some cash next time. Thank you for a lovely meal.

We arrived on Tuesday 18th august And to be honest on the walk to the receptionIt looked like it was stuck in the 1980sBut that aside the room we got was ok Even though the door into the room had obviously been altered poorly We were staying for three nights as we were there in the area for a family wedding At a not so cheap cost of £249 The next morning we went for a breakfast And ordered a full English ( as you do )And we both asked for bacon sausage and black pud to be “ well done “ Well what we got was basically awful The bacon was microwaved to death The sausage grisly And the black pud We both left allot on the plate If it wasn’t for a fantastic wedding at another venue we’d have gone home that day We actually did not stay the full three nights as we’d had enough and went home It needs some more updating to the dining area etc and a chef that can cook I sorry but we would not recommend So disappointed as we where looking forward to this break

After our experience at the Grand Hotel in Scarborough, I rang this hotel out of desperation of somewhere to stay at 10.30pm. What a joy when we were advised they could give 2 rooms that evening. How lovely and helpful the staff were from the telephone call through to checking out after 2 nights stay. The rooms are lovely, very clean, fab breakfast. What an improvement in the quality of food since the kitchen upgrade everything now cooked to perfection today the atmosphere and staff were cheerful and friendly as usual. I have been in tonight for the quiz and had a rather unpleasant experience... The quiz and roast potatoes were amazing as always, however one of the waitresses I believe her name is Sarah told another waiter I believe Andrew that she wouldn't serve us. This was said directly in front of me which I found to be very unprofessional and to be honest just plain rude. I used to come in regularly for meals but now I only come in for the quiz as she is always rude towards myself and other customers. If this issue isn't resolved I will have to find somewhere else to go, which is a shame as the rest of the staff are always very smiley and polite and pleasant to be around.

We popped in here, having missed lunch and upon seeing the sign outside ‘afternoon tea’. Why not we thought. Well, apparently not. Having asked if it was available, we were left standing in the three-quarter empty room, whilst the waitress went to check with the chef. Answer? No. At 3.20pm they weren’t serving anymore! Not sure what time afternoon tea is served then!No worries. We went over the road to The Swan, who were really welcoming.

Stayed for a few nights in Dec in one of the lodge style rooms at the end of the car park. Pretty much everything was fine if a little plain, the bathroom was really great, modern and clean. The memory foam bed was comfortable but the light outside the rooms front doors was bright and annoying. Unfortunately the mugs provided were dirty as was the tray it sat on in the room and the long mirror painfully distorted. Additionally, the walls and windows are very thin so you will hear everything your neighbours are up to and people coming and going from the car park very clearly. The staff have all been lovely and the breakfast provided with our room was excellent, especially the sausages! If I was staying again I would opt for the rooms inside the hotel/restaurant itself in the hopes it would be quieter.

We have used THE FEATHERS for a number of years and can honestly say we have always had excellent meals. We visited last night and what a disappointment. Firstly the steak pie is no longer a lovely homemade pie , it’s just meat in a dish with a separate puff pastry lid which is cooked and put on top along with sprinkle of salt . Why add salt not everyone likes it !Secondly the food wasn’t evenly particularly hot . I think it will be a long time before we return .

The bathroom had a lovely shower over the bath and the room had back lighting in the mirror. The restaurant was fine the food was great a bit of a wait one night but they were exceptionally busy and we was told of the delay before sitting down. The breakfast was a substantial mix of full English to yoghurts fruit salad toast bread jams juice coffee and tea saturday was cooked to order sunday was a buffet as they were full. Called for a drink with my wife last Friday teatime in this pleasant small hotel which is well maintained and decorated. We have been several times before and always enjoyed it. Our visit was totally spoilt on this occasion by the chap sitting at the bar, right next to the till, puffing away at a vaping device. Every time he exhaled the place was filled with a horrible sickly stench. This practise should be banned as it was as offensive as smoking cigarettes. I do not know what the hotels policy is but they really need to ban it in all areas. If it is their policy not to allow it then the bar staff need to enforce this.

My Husband and I went to the Feathers hotel on Friday night for a meal it is local to us and we do go there for a drink now and again the pub has a good atmosphere, we got a table straight away and ordered our meal, my husband chose Steak and ale pie with chips and veg, I chose Cheeseburger with chips and salad, we waited about 20 minutes for the meal both meals arrived and looked quite nice, the burger bun was dry the burger was ok but a bit tasteless the chips looked like chip scraps and watching my Husband eat the steak pie was painful, he found two pieces of tough steak in the pie and as his meal cooled the gravy set in to a thick jelly like substance, he too had scraps for chips, not very good at all, we wouldn't normally complain we just wouldn't go again but we did this time and to be fair the restaurant manager only charged my husband for one meal which was better than nothing, we wont eat there again though.

After visiting the Feathers reastaurant for lunch with my partner we received a parking fine of £60 for parking in their car park. When I called the hotel to complain they simply said there are signs around the car park stating we need to register our car with the hotel and there wasn't anything they could do about the fine, not even an apology. We did not see any signs and it would of been helpful for them to actually let us know in person that we needed to register the car. I have appealed against the fine with no help from the hotel even with a receipt of the meal we purchased but it was not accepted so now have to pay the £60 fine. I wouldn't mind if we had to pay to park and didn't or if we was there too long but for simply not giving them our registration number we now have to pay £60 which I think is ridiculous. We were regular customers and have never had an issue before the registration process was put in place. Definitely will not be visiting again!

A large, slightly old-fashioned looking dining room [in contrast with a modern, re-vamped bar] with plenty of space between tables. Clean linen. Good, polite service from mainly young and well-trained waiters. Huge menu which sounds alarming but we have had a variety of food and been quite happy with the quality. Portions large, so be warned if you have young children or very elderly relatives in your party. Very fair pricing.

Strange place. Our rooms were nice, modern and clean, but were in a different building. No problem there, but to get to them we had to squeeze down a dark alley full of old cooking oil tins, cross a courtyard and turn back down a dimlit snicket. We never felt threatened and it was easy enough, just a bit weird. Food in the hotel was fine for me, the chef did make something vegan, but my companion had fish and chips that he described as sub-service station. Breakfast in the morning was ok, although I did have to nip out and buy my own milk to use with the cereal provided. The coffee portions were thimble sized for my companion. I'd stay here again, no problem, as the rooms are really good, it's just the other stuff is a bit odd.

I can honestly say this is the worst place I have been to eat. The car park is like a prison of war camp where you are surrounded by car parking enforcement notices. Then you have to leave your car registration number with then so you don't get a parking ticket. Then you have to order the food at another bar. Both were brilliant, meat top quality with choice of beef, lamb, gammon /pork and turkey. Puddings were absolutely amazing to. They also gave a great choice of beers. A must visit if in Pocklington

I Came here with my family for my birthday meal , the staff where very nice and polite , and very adaptable to individual needs, e.g vegetarians. My mother was even allowed to bring our own cake ( which was a surprise for me) and they provided plates and spoons . The restaurant staff even lit the candles on the cake and sung happy birthday ( without being asked ) .Lovely cavery, very tasty with great meat and veg. We had a very nice time and can't wait to go again .

We had no electric so thought we would pop out for tea at The Feathers. We ordered 2 scampi, chips and peas. I mean how can you get this wrong ......The peas were like bullets and the chips were absolutely inedible, greasy and soggy. ( the fat had not been hot enough to cook them)So we told the waitress who was very good and took it away at once but then came back and said it was the potatoes , they were absorbing the fat and there was nothing they could do. So we asked for a refund and left.

This place has had a makeover since my last visit and I have to say it looks much brighter and cleaner. I will maybe give it a try for food next time. Drinks appear reasonably priced.

My dad visits from the USA every year, and we just have to visit here for their steak & ale pie, as it's apparently the best he's tasted. Still as good as ever :)

On Thursday 9th March went for dinner. Staff were friendly but the food was awful, I left most of it and had to go to coop opposite for food. I ordered the food and was warned of a 15 minute delay which I was fine with and asked if the wine and water I had ordered could be supplied ahead of meal. I ordered a roasted pepper wrapy with guacomale and cheese, no salsa. After 15 minutes still not drinks so as I went to bar the lady came with my meal and I said no drink had arrived. She went to get it. 5 mins later got in when my meal was cooling. The wrap was burnt, the roasted pepper wrap was swilling in grease with plastic melted sliced cheap cheese melted on the top soaking wrap. No guacomale in it. The chips looked like they were reheated, I didn't eat them and the salad was wilting. The wine tasted corked. I tried to get attention from the bar staff but they were not interested (I was going to raise my complaint) I had to go and collect my daughter, so emailed as soon as I could allowing a couple of days to reply, no response as of yet.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch of beef baguette & bacon, mushroom & Brie baguette. Both were served with a fresh, tasty salad and home-made chips . The dining area was spacious, service was good, decor & toilets were immaculate & price, with drinks, was £17. Will definitely return here !

We moved to Pocklington this past week and spent our first two nights here whilst we unpacked. Everyone was so welcoming and forthcoming in giving us their take on the town. The food we ate both nights was of a high standard, so fresh and sourced locally. Delicious! We also had the Sunday carvery with our family including our year old grandson. It was a hit as everyone enjoyed their meal. Be prepared for large portions or chose a Small Portion (SP) dish - there are a number to chose from on the menu. We will definitely return.

The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. The location and the furnishings are good. However, the radiator in my room (in the grounds) was faulty - twice - so I had one very cold night. I was offered another room, but this proved to be impossible as I needed a room with a stand alone shower and none were available. (I am disabled). On my final night, the people in the adjoining room were very noisy and this ruined another night. The hotel was made aware of my issues at the time. I see from this site that similar issues had already been raised in May 2016 and the hotel said then that it would address them. I have rated the value as poor because the hotel was able to provide me with only one comfortable nights sleep in three. A discount of £10 was given for the cold night and as a result of a written complaint I have been offered £10 off a future stay. Had these gestures been made without my prompting I would have felt like a valued customer.

We stayed at the Feathers for three nights Our room was lovely great bed and quiet, despite overlooking the High street. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast lets the hotel down, only sliced bread, fruit salad with mainly apples, coffee not brilliant and cooked breakfast below average. Like a breakfast of the 1980s, folk expect better now.

We chose the Feathers for our charity committee Christmas meal. However none of us chose the Christmas menu and opted for the regular fare. Admittedly drinks were a bit slow being served but full marks for excellent food. Everything looked to be cooked to order. The small portion options were very generous, as were the larger servings. Plenty of veg too.Delicious puds - especially the Baileys Cheesecake, one disappointed diner as the Yorkshire Parkin ( not to be missed it is so good) was not available. It has taken 16 years for me to try the Feathers - it definitely won't be as long before I go again!!

We stayed in the superior room here for one night, really happy with the room very spacious, modern bathroom really comfortable bed. Double aspect views over the town, Cleanliness of the room good.Hotel central in town with decent size car park and free wi fi.Breakfast ok, service ok but a bit confusing if you don't see the signs telling you the tea and hot water is in flasks.Didn't eat dinner here but the bar area very warm and cosy, seemed popular.

Been here quite a few times for family meals. It's average. A lot of people have the carvery but I went for Hawaiian chicken. Meal was ok but don't expect some amazing. It's a bit like a residential care home dining room. Overall food edible but amazing.

We went on a quiet Sunday afternoon out of season because the previous review said they allowed the dog to go inside. I asked if we could take the pup in and sit out of the way in the corner. The lady said no sorry I don’t allow dogs in at all.

This cafe is now called Miss Bs pantry. Very friendly ladies and delicious food. As a coeliac myself I have to have gluten free. This is very well catered for here so my partner and I have visited on numerous occasions.Various selection of savoury dishes and cakes. Lovely latte too. Well worth a visit.

We had lunch at The Potting Shed with family. This was a return visit, and we think it’s the best garden centre restaurant in the area. Soup was carrot and coriander (delicious, could’ve eaten more!), sandwiches were very fresh, and the haddock and chips were delicious. Restaurant is very clean and well laid out, tables not too close together. I’m sure we’ll be back!

Niño amable, acogedor. Siempre una excelente pinta y un montón de ofertas de bebidas disponibles. Jardín de cerveza que es seguro y cerrado para los niños para jugar.

On behalf of a relative who visited yesterday. Small fish, really greasy. Trading under Thompson’s name but nowhere near the quality. Cash only which is an inconvenience. Won’t be returning.
