The Fat Walrus in Lewisham

The Fat Walrus made our joint 21st birthday a total joy - we booked the back area for a group and had a night of affordable drinks, lovely pizza, Prosecco, and brilliant live music to boot! Paul and the staff were so accommodating and welcoming and put up with our singing and dancing all night, making it a really memorable one! Thank you to the Fat Walrus team and looking forward to being back soon 🥰🥰

A very average roast indeed. Potatoes barley roasted or even cooked. Meat chicken good pork over cooked beef very over cooked. Veg roasted ha ha a barely seen the oven. Very very disappointing. All the hype about independent pub great food where……

A decent selection of Menu items and Drinks, but food portions are small, and too expensive for the offered products. Lewisham should be offering much better value on both. From recollection there is an outside seating area soa plus point by good weather.

All the meat is perfectly cooked and smoked. Any establishment that serves yorkies as standard is onto a winner, but the potatoes, the hispi cabbage, carrots and the gravy are all perfect. Staff did their best to squeeze us in, service was perfect and friendly. I love this place and told my friends who’s a restaurant critic to get Down there asap. It’s class.

All in all a disappointing experience. The menu items sounded appetizing but were very small portions......the tacos, just three small nibbles. Other items similarly small. For £12 - £15 more was expected. Taste was no better than average.

Great food, friendly staff, cold beer and friendly four legged friend to stop by your table with a welcoming tail wag. The spacious beer garden is perfect to fit enough people to still create a great pub atmosphere while feeling safe and relaxed. Did I mention the hotdog? Will definitely be back.

Very quirky place full of students, as a fellow student I fount this was a good thing. The food was nice and reasonable. They had glutenfree and vegan options! Lovely staff!

I have been here several times now and I am always impressed by the efficient service and the charming staff. In a crowded and competitive market The Fat Walrus manages to maintain an edge over rivals with the consistent quality of their charcoal grilled burgers and the selection of sides and puddings. There’s also a very decent range of keenly priced ales, wines and cocktails. (The house dog, Trouble, is very friendly though do obey orders not to feed him). A winning formula for sure. (Note to self: must check out their sister restaurant also in New Cross, The Fat Slice).

This place became a regular for us when visiting our son at goldsmiths which is very near by. The food is typical pub food . Reasonable choice and quality - the Sunday roasts are particularly good though! We have also found the service to be good and all at a good price.

Honestly after visiting a few times over a few years I can say that standards for both the food and service have declined. Drinks order arrived flat (no carbonation), food order arrived sporadically, some failed to arrive at all (machines broken, food run out!), some food was below par (£7 for 9 skinny chicken wings which I can make better at home). Won’t be going back.

If you're looking for decent pub grub, head to the Fat Walrus! Choose your burger and choose your sides, comes really quickly and is very tasty! Popcorn chicken and blue cheese sauce was a definite must!! Great staff and a good night out! New manager is doing a great job!

The waiter was brilliant, a young well spoken lad. The outside area was lovely not too smokey. There were 3 of us we ordered vegetarian hot dogs and burgers. I would say the food is just ok, nothing special the burger and bun seemed oily even though I didn't have cheese. It wasn't presented especially nice just the burger alone in a basket and fries separate. Vegan dressing were good they have mayonnaise but no vegan cheese. Its primarily a pub so a good selection of beers, wines and other drinks. We had a fun night catching up with family.

I'd rate the general ambience and design of the place 5 stars; similarly, the really nice staff and lovely pub dog deserve 5 stars too, as do the drinks and the very efficient bar. I don't know how to rate the food as I just don't much like burgers, hot dogs, macaroni cheese; I like American food but just not this sort, partly cos it is done so much now .. the Caesar salad was pretty good but not 5 star good. I'll definitely come back for all the rest and there is a great outdoor space around the back too.
