Dan's service was exceptional through out the night. Myself and my family enjoyed our meal and I especially enjoyed my gimme s'more

What a great place for breakfast. Food was tasty and the portions were decent. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The vegan burger was a little too heavy on the hash browns, but apart from that's our meals were spot on.

Fred deserves a prize! Get that boy a burger!

The staff were nice, although I told them I have a cumin allergy but it did contain cumin after I ate a little bit of it.

Had a fabulous dinner, served by the friendly Fred who made fantastic recommendations. Will definitely come again soon! Thanks to all the team at Fat Hippo

👤Staff were polite and happy to wait for us to decide on drinks/food, very patient. ⏱️We waited roughly 10-15 minutes for our food so very quick service. (We did go when it wasn’t very busy) 💰£15-20/pp. I paid £33 for the 2 burgers and upgraded side (tater tots). You do get a free side choice of fries or slaw though. ⭐️There is a gluten free menu available and each burger/ food item is broken down on the online menu for descriptions of any potential allergens. ✅The size and quality of the burgers is definitely worth the cost ❤️Would recommend and visit again

Good burgers but the place is a bit small I think they need some vintaliation to circulate some fresh air inside.

Popped in for some food tonight with my boyfriend, we both had a burger each and it was lush, portions are fab too. Best service thanks to Jess, gave the restaurant such a cozy vibe. :)))

Today's visit was very disappointing. When I arrived at the restaurant and gave my name. The order wasn't looked for, and priority was given to delivery drivers over customers collecting their own orders. My order was left in a box going cold. I was told my order was being prepared. When I eventually got my order and I confronted the manager, my concerns were dismissed and in no way addressed. The food was also not up to standard. The trash browns had very little cheese on them. The Born Slippy burgers had no cheese in them and very little pork meat. The Wild Bill burger didn't have a waffle and very little cheese. I would expect this sort of thing at McDonald's, not at this sort of restaurant and not when I have paid £81 for 4 take out meals.

We fancied getting some burgers and realised we hadn’t had a fat hippo burger in years so we popped into the Jesmond restaurent and we were not disappointed. The burgers were just as delicious, juicy and amazing as we remembered if not better! I got the classic Fat Hippo beef burger and my husband got the hot honey chicken burger and we were both delighted! I highly recommend getting extra sauces as they’re delicious too. We got rhetorical garlic one and then the liquid cheese which was just unreal! Fair warning though, come prepared to end up covered in sauce/food but in the best way 😂 honestly just so good! We also have the cookie dough pots for dessert. My husband had the Aoki one which he loved and I had Gimme Smore, which they actually customised for me as I was worried it would be an overload of chocolate sauce so they offered to swap one layer of chocolate sauce out for some caramel which really worked! The lady who looked after us was lovely and chatty and really made us feel welcome! Can’t wait till next time we get to come back!

Visiting the area and we love a good burger so thought we would give Fat Hippo a try. We were not disappointed. Friendly welcome to a virtually full restaurant at 7.30 on a Monday night is a good advert in my eyes. Very quick service getting drinks and placing our order. I don't eat gluten and was pleasantly surprised a could have my burger on a gluten free bun. The food arrived very promptly and it was delicious, one of the best I've had. Reasonable prices, great choice, great atmosphere. Would highly recommend a visit.

I've tried Fat Hippo many times but this was my first visit to the Jesmond spot. It's quite small but still as cosy as the other Fat Hippo places. This time I tried the burger with the chorizo and it was incredible and my partner had a limited edition Kraken burger which was also delicious! Just like their other places it's dog friendly which we love and service was perfect.

Great vegan options - we have Harlem fake and Oprah sin-free (from the secret menu) and vegan dirty waffle fries. An absolute winner. Kids are normally fussy but love a vfc and both love the fat hippo sauce. Kids had dessert too. Prefer this location to Newcastle as a nice small space, with windows and always a quick service!

Excellent service from Phoebe and food was great.

Food was delicious but two hours later what I suspect to be food poisoning kicked in and I spent the rest of the evening on the toilet. Pretty much the whole of the following day had slightly upset stomach so probably won’t be ordering again. A shame as like I say the food was delicious.

Treated a couple of old friends to a Monday night bite to eat at one of my favourite burger places, The Fat Hippo, Jesmond, I’d last reviewed the Fat Hippo,Jesmond back in 2021. I arrived late due to thinking the meet-up point was at another venue, but I eventually got there in the end, so upon entering The Fat Hippo, Jesmond I was immediately pestering the lovely staff as to the location of my friends who had opted to sit outside to eat. Staff and their service incredibly friendly and on the top of their game, the lovely young lady regularly serving our group even seemed to genuinely find my awful banter funny. She got one over me at the end though when I’d asked for the bill, then cheekily implied that I couldn’t pay up, she calmly said that this wasn’t a problem as there were plenty of dishes to wash, hahah touché! She’d probably heard it all a million times before though, but great banter nevertheless, I loved it, and once again, absolutely first class service. Fat Hippo, Jesmond food, top notch as always, unfortunately my favourite burger is no longer on the menu these days, but that wasn’t a problem, a customised one (secret-menu-style) was especially whipped up for me and it was bang on perfect, talk about customer service, thank you so much! Decor and ambiance? We dined outside because the weather was warm and dry, but from what I saw entering and leaving it didn’t look like the interior had changed all that much? Full marks to everyone at The Fat Hippo, Jesmond, great food, excellent service, and I definitely highly recommend this venue.

Very disappointed with the chicken we had. The chicken thighs were dry and the coating was over cooked. It wasn’t a good. The fries were very spicy too.

At fist I nearly walked into the kitchen, door confusion 😆. Food was Very nice, tasty and the drink was perfect. I will defo be back 😊
