An excellent, friendly pub with a fantastic selection of real ales - including many from their own brewery. Their selection of bitters are especially good, but the rest of their selection of pales, ambers and mild cater to a broad range of tastes so guaranteed to find something you like.

Fabulous traditional pub with the added bonus for me of a cask conditioned Stout straight from the barrel. The discount on buying two pint jugs is very welcome.

A beer lovers pub, with lots of choice of real ales to suit all tastes. We like the "Incredible" beer and often buy the 2 pint jug. Reasonable prices too.

A place to be. Pints are impeccable and fresh (well priced too) brewed by the local brewery of the same name. Though enough guest beers and imported stuff. Cozy and beautiful this pub feels like home even when quite busy with friendly locals. Plenty of seating outside too.

For people who want proper beer, visit a proper pub. This one.

I feel welcomed every time I visit. friendly staff.... patient because it takes a while for me to choose a drink form the large drinks menu. beer is excellently well kept.... and not over priced. what more can you ask for!

First visit and definitely won’t be the last. Popped in on the homeward leg of a long walk and ordered a pint of bitter. There was a great atmosphere and I took my pint outside where there was plenty of seating to enjoy it in the sun. One of the best pints I’ve had in a long time.

I’ve been going here for over 35 years, though not as often as I would like as I live far away. It remains one of my top five pubs in the country. Always a high quality range of ales, well kept and perfectly served in the correct shaped glass by brilliant staff. They allow and welcome dogs, a key point for me. Try as I may, I’m unable to find any fault. Apart from my recent visit where I noticed ‘Greene King Abbot’. This in my mind an abomination, as this Massive corporation, Chinese owned, holds such an exclusive grip on many pubs in my area and others, that I’ll not enter their pubs let alone drink their mass produced ‘pelch’.

Old world pub that is very dark inside and seems to be inhabited mainly by older males. I was with my husband and was the only female 'apparent' in the place, very noisy and not a very comfortable atmosphere. The beer was OK that I had, but didn't think it was an exciting range of beer to have on in the winter months, considering it 'has been' CAMRA national pub of the year, but also seems to be missing from the Good Beer Guide for a few years! This suggests maybe standards are slipping in the real ale world at the pub, as was my observation !

The fat cat is a traditional street corner pub, more than that it is a great pub. Deservedly regularly featured in the campaign for Real ales good beer guide. It has a fantastic range of top quality Cask conditioned real ales, and an excellent selection of ciders and bottled beers. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. This cosy pub has an interesting display of old pub memorabilia and is always busy when I have called in. This is favourite pub in Norwich, highly recommended.

Had a quick pint after Sunday lunch and was surprised at how empty it was, till I remembered it was Sunday lunchtime! Ordered a Tom Cat as it'd be rude not to have a local brew and it was as nice as ever. Always a pleasure to come here when I'm in Norwich, can't wait to come again.

Great pub and worth the trip away from the city centre. Fantastic large selection of ales and craft beers on tap. Plenty of seating and character. Highly recommend if you're a beer lover but its a cracking pub too if you're not.

The real ale in this pub is really the best in Norwich. Always served in peak condition so that every mouthful is delightful.

Bei "In der Nähe" zeigte Google Maps nur 4 Fußminuten von unserem nicht wirklich zentral gelegenen Quartier entfernt ein Pub. Das konnte man ja mal versuchen. Wow, alles andere wäre ein unverzeihlicher Fehler gewesen. Bisher war der Nelson Pub in Sydneys Rocks mein Favorit. Der wurde von The Fat Cat vom Sockel gestossen. Einfach super, tolle Atmosphäre - leider zu wenig Zeit um alle Biere auszuprobieren.

An amazing choice of real ales and ciders on sale here the most I have ever seen in one place... The bar staff were very friendly and very patient when it took me so long to choose my ale... no music just conversation with like minded people....

went in here for a drink prior to eating across the road. seems like a throwback to the good ole days of a local pub and I am glad we went in. If you like that then I strongly recommend a visit and a superb selection of ales.

The Fat Cat small chain of pubs are Norwich Jewels Used to live next to the FC Brewery tap where they brew their own selection of fine ales, Now my local is the FC and Canary with its fine rotation of guest beers and welcoming atmosphere. The first one was The Fat Cat on Nelson St.I had just had an incredible brunch at Woolf and Social opposite and hangover banished by a couple of their bloody marys crossed the road to sink a few fine ales. Always a warm welcome, great selection of beers and rolls still 60p! What's not to like?

By universal opinion this is unequivocally the best pub in Norwich, and who am I to disagree! The friendliest of staff, great range of beers and 'characters' frequenting the bar - a home from home for some, clearly! Don't expect fine dining but you WILL enjoy this now famous hostelry, particularly if you're over, say, 30! Every positive that I could add has probably already been posted!

Been here countless times. Superb pub. Beers really well kept. Cannot fault it. If you love beer and are in the area you have to visit this pub!

Some lovely Ales to choose from, if fact so many it will take a few trips :o) some good ciders too, especially if you like the stronger ones (I recommend "Old Rosie" ).Regulars are friendly and the staff are not just friendly but know there beers to. They brew many of there own ales as well as selling many guest ales from other local and national brewers.

By far the best pub in Norwich. Always an absolutely brilliant selection of ales, ciders and beers for any occasion. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and you can clearly see why it gets so crowded every day. Truly lovely place for a drink at any time of day, any time of year.

We never seem to have enough time for a longer visit. This pub has an enormous selection of delicious fresh beers. It is friendly and always has a good buzz. You do not have to have a beard and a beer belly to appreciate this place. I had the fat cat marmalade, sweet and strong. My husband had their bitter, which he also really enjoyed. If you love a good pub and a good pint, then you will not be disappointed.

You can't knock a pub for being busy and when it was the only pub around that did proper beer properly, it's shortcomings could be forgiven. I choose now to drink the small amount of beer l now consume in more pleasant surroundings.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Cat. I was there the night it opened, I was there the morning Johnny Wilkinson swung his (wrong) foot into history, I wet my son's head there, and I am reasonably sure I finished my stag night there.But.Despite its fine pork pies - and they are good - its wide ranges of crisps - Tyrrells, if memory serves, and the reasonable pork scratchings, not even the most one-eyed fan of the widest selection of real ales in a hundred miles was a place to go to eat.

Best Real Ale Pub in Norwich and England and they have won awards to prove that. A traditional english alehouse (not restaurant) with lots of ales to choose from. If your looking for real ale look no further.

Love The Fat Cat but when will Trip Advisor get a separate section for pubs? Only food on offer is fresh rolls ??? Interesting that number 1 "restaurant " in Norwich is Grovenor Fish Bar !! Fab fish and chips but that's all.

Good little bar but they're own beer is only ok, however if its not for you there are plenty of other taps. No food to speak of, get food and I'll add a star
