I’ve been to a few of Bills cafes - mainly in London - and have always enjoyed the food. Not this time. The burger was truly awful. The burger itself was OK if a little tasteless. The accompanying sauce actually detracted from the taste and should be avoided. The pickles were cut too thinly and so again lacked taste. The accompanying fries were - literally - inedible. Although they did not charge me for these. Even the (bottled) beer was flat. I’m not sure why the Norwich version is so bad. Maybe just an off night. But bad it was

It was just ok. I was upstairs and there was just one member of staff doing it all which is unfair. The food was reasonable and tasty, over priced by around 35% so doesn't make great value. It's a nice place, food, just ok, nothing to shout about, portions reasonable. Well placed, in the middle of the city centre

We and my partner decided to go out and have a late Valentine's dinner at the Bills. We ordered cocktails, a starter (chili cheese), mains (chicken) and a dessert (brownie). Everything was okay, the waiter was friendly and we had overall good service. But we got so disappointed with our mains. The chicken was really stiff and tasteless. It was hard to cut it, it felt like it had been out in open days. The mashed potatoes were also quite cold. Neither of us enjoyed the mains and it felt more like pub food rather than restaurant food.

Terrible service the bartender was nice but that's pretty much all I can say positively .. the front of house was just unkind and had a bad attitude. I walked in for a drink by myself, there were three tables empty by the window the place wasn't stacked and wasn't busy at all... In fact when I walked in all the waiters and bartenders and front of house were standing at the bar having a chat not paying any attention to anyone around so when I walked in the only way to get their attention was to go to the bar and order my drink otherwise I'd be probably waiting for a while until they finished their conversations. . I was told the front windows were reserved for guests even though one table had dirty plates on it.... Okay... me coming in alone for a drink means I am not a guest? She must've felt really silly when all that time I was there the three empty tables remained empty. This front of house lady will lose you business..... The bartender just gave me a funny look as he was happy to let me sit wherever. I'll be contacting the manager as this is not how you treat people especially when everything is so expensive. Never have been treated so unkindly and unwelcome, I wish I left the drink and walked out as that was the worst experience I've had in a restaurant. 0 stars and will never return. Such a shame as I was looking for a private hire for a big corporate event, well done.... you can thank your front of house lady for losing this big opportunity and I will be sharing this to my connections.

Fab experience! The staff are incredibly considerate & lovely - keep it up guys! I was feeling a little rough as a result from a heavy night before, manager was super welcoming on arrival & gave me a booth for a more comfortable experience. I didn’t get the manager & waiters’ names however check backs were completed throughout my experience & as a solo traveller they made me feel welcomed. Made my short visit that extra bit worthwhile, thank you team☺️

My mother and uncle were over visiting from Ireland. They went to bills for brunch and could not speak more highly of the place. They were served by an Italian girl named Roxy who was extremely friendly and helpful, they were really impressed by her. they loved everything about bills from the food to the atmosphere. It was the highlight of their trip to Norwich.

It was mine third visit in this place. Luke’s the chicken burger. Nice atmosphere and staff. My wife had a halloumi burger and she said it was ok. I have noticed that they add 12.5% service charge which you can opt out. I decided to instead of paying the service charge which I learned only fraction is going to the staff and some of it is going to the owners of the chain, change it and give a tip to the waitress who was serving us. I thought it would be more appropriate as I suppose the owners are rich enough. Who knows, maybe I was wrong. Overall good food and nice atmosphere.

I'm writing this message to commend two of your Amazing staff members at Bills Norwich branch “Annie and George” who warmly welcomed us on the night of my Husband’s 75th birthday on the 19th December. They both really went out of their way to make us feel extremely welcome, their warm, friendly and smiley disposition instantly made us feel at home and although this was our first time at this restaurant it almost felt like we were visiting old friends. Both Annie and George are natural people personalities and to have them as the first point of contact with customers especially those who have never been to the restaurant before is a reassuring gift. It wasn’t just what George and Annie did, it was the kind caring way that they did it and I genuinely believe that they both would be a wonderful example to the other staff members as people do notice the difference between someone just going through the motions and someone who genuinely cares. As a trainer myself I can clearly see that they’d both make excellent Customer Service Consultants for your company. I hope they get to read this much deserved feedback so they are aware of our sincere gratitude in making our experience to your restaurant so much better than it would have been without them and to let them know that we will definitely choose to make dining at Bills a regular occurrence because of their courtesy and human kindness. We’ve already told all of our family and friends about Annie and George and what a massive positive difference they made to our experience and I am sharing this feedback with you because everyone deserves to be met by either Annie and George personally or someone who has benefited from being trained in how to model their impeccable customer care. We’ve always enjoyed eating at Bills in Norwich so decided to pop in after Christmas shopping. We ordered a sharing platter, a side order of fries and what we thought was a side salad. The sharing platter came without the fries and eventually a totally different dish to a side salad! We should maybe have made it totally clear that we wanted everything together but had ordered exactly the same on our last visit without any issues.

My family and I went here for a spontaneous breakfast, making sure to book before :) We’ve had breakfast at Bills before which has always been a pleasure and this was no doubt the same. They have a good selection of brunchy meals with drinks too. The pancakes my all time favourite with an ideal selection of fruit. The restaurant was excellent the staff were so helpful and friendly my mum who is not very mobile and has to use a walker or stick was looked after very well. There is a good disabled toilet. We were able to get a downstairs table. The staff who looked after us Roxanna and Eric were absolutely brilliant and Roxanna was patient and sweet to us. She made sure we were comfortable. Eric was attentive and kind too. 10 out of 10 all round

The staff here in Norwich were AMAZING tonight. I came for a meal with a friend. Disaster struck - I have a stoma bag and needed access to the disabled very quickly The waitress produced plastic gloves, Wipes etc and even offered to go to Primark to get a change of clothes. And to top it all they wouldn’t let us pay the bill. I’m a bowled over by all of this and extremely grateful that what started off as a fun evening could have become such a disappointment if it wasnt for the care and attention of the staff. Pancakes were tasty, although I think the toppings (berries and syrup) were a little sparse. That being said, the actual pancakes themselves were so filling I couldn't finish them all. Warm and cosy vibe inside, maybe a little cramped table-wise. Lovely staff/service. Reasonably priced. We'd definitely go again. Make sure you book (we did) rather than just walking in! It gets very busy. Also just a note: they do automatically add 12.5% gratuity to your bill.

Discovered Bill's whilst in need of a drink and snack saturday afternoon. We werent disappointed. It was so nice and inviting that we went for breakfast sunday morning. I had the garden plate which was amazing. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. The best service ive had for a long time. Even when we walked in on saturday, they were busy but all staff members made eye contact and said someone would be with us in just a moment. Service is so important these days and Bill's smashed it! Visited for lunch.Subdued lighting made menu small print difficult to read,wrong drinks arrived twice. Two bog standard burgers with fries were not impressive.My sister had fish,which had obviously just been reheated as the breadcrumbs were hard and the measly but of fish inside was like leather. I have been here 4 times now. Once for a lovely Steak and Red Wine Lunch then the past 3 times for Breakfast. On the last 3 visits I was served by Lisa. Lisa is an exceptional Waitress. In my experience of UK and Abroad Hospitality, I can honestly say it's the best service I have ever received across the board. I have been fortunate enough to have been served on a Cruise Liner in the Carribbean and I feel that although brilliant, Bills and their staff like Lisa are the best in the business. I am fussy when it comes to paying for food and the quality, presentation and taste of Bills is well worth every penny. It's nice to see staff actually care about what they do and this really shows within every aspect of an experience within this particular establishment. I hope the staff get good days off because they all work really hard front and back of house. Thank you for making each visit lovely. I will always recommend this place to people. It's nice that it is Dog friendly too for those that need it.

I got food poisoning from my brunch. The food was cold so I assume it was cooked ahead of time and kept warm under a lamp - hence the food poisoning. The service was not good. Despite booking a table, we were left at the front door with 6 other people and waited 5 mins for a host. The waitress was clearly run off her feet and this came across in her attitude. This experience has put me off Bills indefinitely. Not worth the price.

My most recent experience at Bills seems to reflect a few others, that whilst I have been to Bills a number of times in the past and always had great service / great food, this occasion was incredibly disappointing. Everything seems to have gone downhill and I unfortunately won’t be back in future. I had booked a table for Sunday AM, and for whatever reason there was only one member of staff that seemed to be ‘allowed’ to show diners to their seats. Whilst he attended to the party in front of us, FIVE members of staff were stood around the bar chatting to the other members of staff behind the bar, and we were ignored until the original member of staff eventually came back to show us to our seats. He took our drinks order and left us to it. Another member of staff then asked if we ‘wanted any drinks’, to which I confirmed our drinks order had already been taken (and she would have known that had she been paying attention and not talking at the bar the whole time). When our food came, it was lukewarm, bordering on cold. The avocado in my breakfast was tangy and seemed off. It was frustrating that if you wanted to use the wifi, you had to fill in a huge questionnaire that included details of your postcode, and your gender!? Why would you need to know someone’s gender to use the wifi? We paid using the QR code on the table, which added a 12.5% service charge and the ONLY way you can get it removed is if you ask a member of staff. I won’t be dining here again, the service has gone so downhill and the food and overall experience was really disappointing.

Food was very meh for me. I had only a light lunch option, the battered duck, but I still expected something more substantial and tastier. Could not taste any duck, just batter. Overall bland. My friend's meal was slightly better, admittedly. I would consider a more substantial meal next time, like a burger or a steak, were I to come again; but, based on this why would I when there's tons of other places to try. Oh, and there is a sneaky surcharge for a tip that I wasn't consulted on: what is this, America?!

Burgers and brunches were enjoyed by all. Service was prompt and friendly and the food delicious. Should we find ourselves in Norwich again we'd definetly return.

Our meal was ok, nothing special for the price, my peas were cold and unsmashed. Why would anyone serve feta cheese with fish? It's weird. A service charge was slapped on, which was a bit much. considering the service was very lacklustre, we had to ask for water three times and my drink was served in a chipped glass. The worst part, that kind of ruined the evening; we were all pretty horrified to see a dog allowed upstairs in the restaurant (bar downstairs, fair enough) The worst part was that the dog then was allowed to stand on the table. Not one member of staff was seen asking them to put the dog on the floor. I do not wish to eat in an establishment that thinks it is ok to allow a dog to stand on the dinner table. It's gross.

My friends and I went Bills for a pre-theatre meal. I cannot fault the staff as they were efficient and friendly. We chose from the set menu. We had two courses for £16.50. We all chose the burger and added cheese. They were very accommodating, as most places are with removing the bits and bobs I didn’t like e.g. tomato and onion etc. The chips were crunchy and very tasty. Three of us chose the salted caramel chocolate tart for dessert, but all swapped the coconut ice cream for vanilla. It was absolutely yummy! One chose the doughnuts with caramel and chocolate dipping sauces. He said he was concerned about the cinnamon sugar being too overpowering with cinnamon but he said it was really subtle and that was pleasing. All in all a fabulous meal for £16.50. Which was even cheaper as I had used 25% discount code! Would highly recommend.

Comfortable, friendly place, great for Sunday brunch or cocktails with friends. Good food, decent portions, fair prices and great service. Booths are nice for couples for an intimate lunch. There is a wide range of both food and drink on offer, from quick snacks to a leisurely dinner. Will come again.

Big thank you to George who served us today. He was so friendly, chatty and attentive, always making sure to check we had everything we needed. Great to have someone make such an effort with the customers and make them feel so welcome! All the staff were so friendly and all looked genuinely happy to be there - which can be such a rarity in hospitality these days.

I always pop into Bills when working in Norwich. The staff are genuine and friendly, great service. The food has never been anything less than excellent 👌 Tonight I had the sea bream with giant couscous and green beans along with a glass of Shiraz. I particularly like how seriously Bills take allergies and this gives me reassurance.

I’ve been to bills twice now, the first being lovely and good food this was around a year and a half ago. I went last month and was left extremely disappointed, the establishment was clearly understaffed, our waitress was flying back between our table and others while we were trying to order/ask questions. The 2 breakfasts we ordered were both disappointing, one chicken bacon pancakes missing the syrup and chilly oil and the pancakes and chicken were complete dry. The other meal being a large breakfast, considerably smaller than last time I had it, the majority of the food was either under cooked or over cooked with the toast only been toasted on one side also the large breakfast was served on the shallow bowl making it extremely hard to cut and enjoy. We were unable to complain as our waitress was nowhere to be found, and we had already waited long enough! The bill for this meal was overpriced, and included a 10% service charge which we had to pay as there’s no option to remove on the screens and our waitress had once again disappeared after handing it to us. Wouldn’t recommend you can get far better breakfasts elsewhere for the money. Shame as the building and interior is lovely

Downgraded from 5 stars. My original review below 👇. Since writing my review I have had three meals in a row where I have had to return the food as it was delivered cold. They are clearly struggling with something. Really gutted, cause I enjoyed going here a few times a month, but won't bother anymore. They really didn't seem to be bothered...it was like returning food was second nature to them. Just par for the course. Shame. Original review at 5 stars. ------------------------- While Bills is a chain, it's one of the few where they genuinely seem to run each branch as though they are independent. The staff must get some serious training as they genuinely go out of their way to make you feel welcome and nothing seems to be too much trouble. I tend to want to change my breakfast options entirely, yet they just say "no problem". Kids are made to feel utterly welcomed. They accommodate any and all requests and the food arrives quickly and always tastes way above average. Price is good (especially if you have a blue light card). They don't rush you, but they do get you in and out quickly as they serve the food so fast. Service - exceptional. Food - good. Atmosphere - decent. Overall a very solid option.

* Sadly this lovely restaurant has now closed. We had a wonderful meal, the food was absolutely delicious, really tasty, imaginative and well presented. The cocktails were great, and the staff were lovely. Nice place and atmosphere too. I think that we maybe have a new favourite restaurant in Norwich! Recommended.

Staff were friendly but had to do everything through an app. You have to get your own cutlery and fill your own drinks. Feels like a shift in a chicken shop with worse food. The only good things were the peri chips and the dips. Seats look like they were rescued from a fire, and the toilet light went off while I was still in there. I'd always choose KFC over Nandos
