Erpingham House in Norwich

A cold day outside and rather under heated inside. We sat with our coats on. I had the oyster mushrooms dish. Food could have been warmer and the plate was cold. Meal was very tasty but not particularly ample. Think food is overpriced for what I had. Loo was clean but needs a tidy, peeling wallpaper etc. Very accommodating staff. We understood they were short staffed.

What a lovely place, beautiful decor and the food was mind blowing! I’m not vegan, but I can honestly say that I had the best burger ever! Highly recommended ☺️

Lovely lunch and delicious food. Really nice decor if a little chilly but the late winter sun streaming through the windows soon warmed us up. Will definitely come again next time I'm in Norwich.

Well worth a visit, amazing tasty food that looks beautiful. We came to Norwich for a theatre trip and wanted somewhere a bit different for dinner and I'm so glad we found you guys!! I am not a vegan and nor was any of my party but this place was brilliant and we didn't miss meat products one bit. We had a variety of small plates and bigger plates and shared everything. It was all absolutely delicious and would definitely recommend and visit again. Quirky place, lovely decor, fantastic food and fab staff.....what more could you want? Loved it 😍

Staff were welcoming and helpful, and the food was completely delicious. We'll be coming back partly so we can try some more of the dishes! We wanted to order pretty much everything on the menu. The restaurant is well decorated and spacious, though the music was slightly too loud for our personal preference. However, that certainly won't stop us coming back again! The meal highlights for me were the Korean and Mexican tacos - totally delicious. The music cabbage was also a standout.

Erpingham House. First time in a Vegan restaurant and the food was unexpectedly very tasty and enjoyable. Service was excellent, as only 2 other customers in for lunch hence lack of atmosphere. We found the cost a little more than we expected. The only criticism (from her indoors) the cleaners need better instructions, lots of dust!

Very nice place that exclusively does vegan food and drinks. Even in this day and age it's still hard to find places that even have vegan OPTIONS (and I sometimes feel sheepish asking staff what certain items contain), so to find a place that is ONLY vegan is terrific, as it eliminates that level of anxiety. I had one of the most delicious burgers ever. It was small, but surprisingly filling. The same goes for the portion of chips that came alongside it, although they were chunky chips, so a win all round. I was a bit unsure about the staff, especially when I paid my bill. I said that I really enjoyed my meal and that I would definitely come back again. The nice young lady laughed. I think it was just a polite laugh, but I can't always tell as I am on the Autistic Spectrum. I do sometimes wish that people would just reciprocate my words of praise with their own words of gratitude. But all in all, it was a positive experience.

Just incredible. Food was totally brilliant. Can't rate this highly enough.

I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, but one of the family is. So, he took us to Erpingham House. I wasn't sure what to expect. However, the food was wonderful and do tasty. Lovely friendly staff too. Thank you and we'll be back soon!

Meals weren't at all what you were expecting them to be. What was available was mainly cold food which isn't what you want in winter. Noodles were either made of courgette or seaweed as they were jelly-like (and cold). No festive options on 20th December. Expensive food. Service charge was added without asking or even telling us before we paid. Not likely to re-visit despite coming several times in the past.

Loved this place! I was really excited to see so many vegan places when visiting Norwich but this was fave of all the ones I tried! Food was banging, definitely recommend the arancini 😍 staff were super friendly too. If I visit Norwich again, I’ll be back!

Booked for an anniversary meal. The place was beautifully decorated and felt warm and cosy. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing. Good quality for the price and presentation was banging. Would definitely eat here again.

Great atmosphere with some good drinks, however the food is overpriced for quality and portion size. I got the Korean Taco- fully expecting it to be a taco, but it was two bites of fried tofu with kimchi. The kimchi was sadly really awful and I couldn't take more than a few bites, I had even ordered a side of it by itself and it was just a waste of money. The burgers are almost 15£ and not worth that much. The bathrooms are small, but kept clean and didn't have a bad smell. We walked here, but there isn't parking outside.

First time visit expecting delicious food, sadly disappointed. Aldi vegan chicken burgers tastier than what we had on a recent visit here. Staff lovely but less than attentive. Overpriced and service charge added and assumed. Shall not be returning.

This is a really nice vegan restaurant with a good range of options for food and drink. Some of the starters and mains are cold and it wasn’t easy to tell which was which from the menu.

You may go because it's vegan, but you'll return because of the delicious food. Incredibly creative presentation of really tasty offerings that proved much more interesting than a lot of vegan fare. The avocado toast and the Korean taco were particularly scrumptious.

Amazing vegan food. The staff went out of their way to answer my dietary questions. Totally recommend this place for vegans and non vegans. If you like lovely food and service.

I struggled to find somewhere to go for our wedding anniversary on a Tuesday night. This place was open and had a table available. We were sent an email from the booking system OpenTable the day before just checking we were still coming. It wasn't very busy, I think there were probably another 2 tables with people on them at the time of our reservation? We had the option to sit wherever we liked. I chose a room to the side which we had to ourselves. The service was quick, the food was tasty, the surroundings were nice and the music in the background was loud enough to hear but not over powering. I like to try new things to eat and I hadn't tried anything like this before. I'm not a vegetarian or a vegan but I did enjoy everything I tried. It was quite hard choosing what to order when you didn't know what to expect but the lady taking our order was very helpful. My only negative comment is that it would have been nice to know if the dish was going to be hot or cold. Between us we had 1 hot and 1 cold starter, 1 hot and 1 cold large plate. We didn't know at the time of ordering they were going to be cold so maybe if it said on the menu that might be helpful? The cold things were meant to be cold and were still nice, so I'm not complaining.

This was my first time experiencing this place and we had a table booked for 12 and it was lovely. It was quiet being early, very quick and attentive service and the food was to die for. Will definitely be coming back.

Very nice restaurant and delicious food. I discovered this place thanks to a dinner organized by colleagues. I had the cucumber Jin, tofu and noodles salad, kimchi, mushroom tea, and chocolate orange tart. I will definitely come back here with my wife and my dog.

Gorgeous meal tonight with a work friend, every time we've been here we've had burgers and they've been amazing everytime. The small team of staff here are so attentive and couldn't do more to help. If you're visiting the city and want somewhere new to try, you won't be disappointed here!

I hired out the private room here for my birthday party and it was absolutely perfect! I had about 40 guests and there was enough room for everyone to sit as well as mingle. It was decorated really nice & stylish and I got lots of piccies, we had our own private bar and bathroom, and our servers Rosie and Mike were amazing! The manager Anna was super helpful as well. Honestly couldn't recommend it enough :)

Went to Erpingham House because Gourmet Society offered 25% discount. However the waitress, who was rude and refused to accept the discount. Will never go there again as I am so annoyed at the way they treated me

Having been to the theatre with my mother, a vegetarian, we wanted to try something different to eat. We had heard excellent reviews of the EH and we weren't disappointed. The staff were welcoming, as was the atmosphere. No Ampersands bet which was a little sad but the did more than made up for it. Outstanding choice and flavours that set our mouths alight.

Nice atmosphere and decor, top quality food with great flavour, and very friendly, helpful service from our waitress Emily. Bit pricey but worth it. A must if you are in Norwich.

Visited here for lunch today as a belated birthday meal with a special family friend. We were greeted on arrival but a lovely front of house called Emily , who seemed to be running the lunch shift on her own. On arrival she very apologetically let us know that they are not able to serve alcohol currently but that she was happy to make mocktails. We declined as although we had been looking forward to a nice bottle of wine for my birthday, understood this was not our waitresses fault. Sadly the table next to us were less kind and very rude to our lovely waitress about the alcohol situation and they stormed out. So, the food...delicious! We had kale and cashews and a light snacky starter then the harissa lamb style main. I'll be honest, we were spoilt for choice with all the amazing vegan options but what we did have was spot on. I must also add that the decoration in this venue is absolutely delightful ! Had a lovely lunch and would come back again .

We had a delicious meal here recently. The harissa lamb dish was supberb and without fault, along with the many other dishes we tried. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and we will definitely be returning.

Definitely changed since I came here last, in 2018 when I was on my way to collect something. Not my style of food but am willing to try anything once. On this occasion I had a cola whilst waiting for a friend.

Having wanted to visit here since it opened, I took my family for a meal on a Monday evening. Being a vegetarian I was spoiled for choice as everything is naturally vegan. Being a Monday it was quiet but there was still a lovely atmosphere, with great decor as well. Our waitress Natasha was very attentive and friendly, a highlight to our visit. As for the food it was very good and well presented. I will definitely be returning. One note to add the service charge is included but worth every penny.

Myself and a friend had an amazing meal at Erpingham House. It was amazing food, so tasty and fresh… but the waitress Louise really made our night. She was a perfect balance of chatty and attentive. Having lovely conversation with us, suggesting her favourite items...

Food was excellent if portions on the smaller side. The all pink decor in the restaurant looks a bit tired and the floor and chairs were dirty where we were sitting. Didn’t really appreciate an extra charge being added on to the bill for “ planting a tree in a developing country” and only noticed this when we left.

Went with my sister and her husband as she is vegetarian I’m not lol .but I have to say the food was amazing the burgers etc the onion rings .all the starters we had was all so good .i will definitely be going back for...

Great food and pretty good value. Starters and mains were absolutely top notch. The experience was let down somewhat by the vegetarian desserts: treacle tart was over-sweet and granular, not smooth; apple sponge was both dry and dense - its possible to do veggie desserts better than this, and the chef clearly knows their stuff. Will definitely go back but, on this showing, may go elsewhere for pudding. Wine list, ambience, and service all very good.

The food and service was wonderful! The only things that could make this place better is to have a larger drink/dessert menu and the bathroom could use an upgrade. But it was a wonderful experience and would definently eat here agian.

Really enjoyed the burgers and chips however, the Sunday Roast was very dry and although we requested gravy, it never arrived. The waiter staff were very attentive and friendly.

Erpingham House is always brilliant - so many options and it's perfect for taking non vegans too. The food is always great and the service is always lovely there too. The smokehouse burger is amazing as is the fish and chips but you can't really go wrong with anything you order. Have become regulars there over the last two years living in the city. Highly recommended!

Yesterday we had a very disappointing experience at Erpingham house. We hadn’t booked as we decided to come last minute, however we were quickly seated regardless. We then waited quite a while to order (20 minutes), so we mentioned to the waitress that we were ready to order when they had a minute. When the waitress came to then take our order she mentioned to us that we were “not a priority as we hadn’t booked, as they have to prioritise bookings”. She said she meant it with “no disrespect” however, we found this incredibly disrespectful and were tempted to walk out without ordering anything. We aren’t sure where the logic for that comes from as we were paying customers just like everyone else. However, the reason it’s not 1 stars is because the food was exceptional, it was just let down by the service.

Had some takeaway food( Fish and Chips(those smashed potatoes were lovely❤️)), and Lamb and Feta which was great too. Just discovered Erpingham House, definetely will go there again and again! Highly recommend

Starters, main and drinks were all good. Tasty and fairly priced. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. After asking for the bill it took 40 mins for the wait staff to come and collect the payment despite making eye contact and gesturing a few times. However it is worth remembering they could have been very short staffed and we could have gone up to them at anytime to ask to pay the bill. The dessert we had, "celebration of apple" was not nice, three of us ordered it and didn't enjoy it. Very dry, not very appley and underwhelming. Would not recommend getting that!

Beautiful Sunday roast dinner. Although missing the Yorkshire pudding promised on the menu! What we did have was the best roastie we've had in a long time.

Lovely building. Decor very odd. Little attention to having an eye on detail. Two waiting staff friendly but pre meal nibbles didn’t arrive until two minutes before meal. Very disappointing menu. Burgers could only be offered without buns. So a very standard burger on lettuce...

I came here for the Christmas menu with 10 people from my family. They are all omnivores (apart from me) so I was really hoping this place would wow them but I think it has put them off vegetarian food even more.The food was undercooked, cold, dry and generally bad tasting. I don't think the chef has any idea how to cook vegan food. More detail about the food...There were 3 christmas options. We had atleast one person order each one. The nut roast was OK at best. Quite dry and the stuffing was VERY dry. We were served gravy in small pots on the side and one of them was hardly even a dribble and had to ask for them to fill it up properly. Where is the quality control?The cauliflower was RAW. Very hard and not cooked at all. It was so hard that it was flinged across the table trying to cut it! Not to mention it wasn't a cauliflower 'steak' as advertised rather a few tiny florets. The meal was not big enough and guests were still hungry. The christmas dinner pudding was STRANGE to say the least. The custard was florescent yellow in colour and tasted awful. No one enjoyed it. The chef clearly doesn't know how to make vegan custard (or anything for that matter). The parfait, wasn't even a parfait, it was just a strange frozen lump of yoghurt. To top it off the food took AGES to get to the table.The staff were generally nice but we struggled to get any service. We weren't offered drinks more than once even when they were ALL empty. We had to coo them over (4 times!!!) while all 10 of the guests had run out of drinks. The drinks would then take half an hour to get there...We also had to ask for clean cutlery as the knifes still had food stuck to them and finger marks all over the blades. When place cutlery please clean your hands first and use the handles don't touch the blades! It was an extremely disappointing Christmas meal and I am a bit embarrassed that I took my family there now.

Some of the best vegan food I've had and I'm from Bristol! The lamb feta was sooo tasty and well made. Very cute decor and ambiance too. Dog friendly and happy to help with allergies and dietary needs, thanks erpingham house.

Booked a table for five on a Sunday late lunchtime....arrived to find the entire front of the building, plus the main rooms were smothered in fake/plastic trees and flowers!! What is that all about? veganism is touted as being a way to aiding and combatting climate change, and yet this place is smothered in single use plastic: a totally baffling choice. Plus...too much artificial air freshener.... ewww...Anyway, on to the service:1. Our booking didn't seem to have been received.2. Tables hastily pushed together, but very close to another party, and we felt we'd been shoved into a corner.3. We requested a jug of water while waiting for two party members, and waited 15 minutes, and had to remind the staff about our request.4. Menu arrived, and our late arrivals ordered coffee. It arrived cold. Another ordered tea, and it arrived in a very badly cracked teapot.And then we waited, and waited, and waited...we told a staff member we were ready to order...we waited some more, and then, after arriving at 13:45, we left at 14:25...without our order being taken nad with no apology from staff, who blamed "booking issues".....we went to Zizzi's where we were warmly greeted, and finally got our lunch....The staff need to pay attention to customers. There needs to be proper job allocation, rather than all staff doing waiting, making drinks, running up and down stairs, greeting diners etc. The waiting staff on today were nice on a personal level, but they seem to have absolutely no idea how to wait/serve.Also, if veganism/plant based is the way forward to saving the planet, why is the entire place decked out in fake plastic plants and flowers? A really bad first impression to this family, and we won't be back...

Booked a family getogether for Sunday lunch for 5 people (one of our party had travelled up from Hampshire). First impressions upon walking in was seeing the lovely and cosy decor, with a wall of fabric roses and a pretty decorative tree in the centre of the dining area. The ambience music was at just the right volume, so you could still have a comfortable conversation with one another. Sadly, we ended up walking out before we'd even managed to place our order, so we never got as far as experiencing the food. Our table was booked through Open Table for 1:45pm, so three of us had turned up just beforehand to make sure we were there on time. Our greeting was warm and friendly, but we had to wait to be seated, as it turns out the staff weren't prepared for our arrival (although they did have confirmation of our booking name), so they had to push two tables together in the corner of the room. Alas, we were a tad forgotten about in our little corner, whilst we waited for our two remaining guests to arrive. From what we could see, the four waitstaff were all zipping about across all the stations, whether it be taking orders, serving the food, making drinks etc. There wasn't any apparent system (ie. one person focusing on making drinks, instead it seemed they were all trying to jostle around across the stations). As a result, after around 15 minutes of trying to get someone's attention, we had to ask two different servers for some water for the table. Not a great start so far, but the servers themselves were all friendly and obviously trying to do their best, so we persevered and ordered some drinks as the last two members of our party arrived. About 20 minutes later, our drinks appeared...my English breakfast tea with oat milk was perfectly fine, but the Ampersand beer that one of us ordered had been left on the bar for about five minutes before it was finally brought to the table, and the cappuccino was lukewarm. And still, no one had asked us what food we wanted to order.At this point, we realised we had been here for a total of nearly 40 minutes since our arrival, and were still no closer to getting anyone's attention - not just to let them know that we had two members of our party who were already disappointed with their drinks (a cold cappuccino and "the worst pilsner ever tried"), but to even actually be able to put our food order in.So around 2:30pm, we were getting hungry, frustrated and feeling a bit ignored, so cut our losses and decided to leave. In fairness to the staff, we did go up to the counter to explain why we were walking out and pay for our drinks, and they kindly didn't charge us for them. Their explanation for the wait (in getting us seated, served etc) was "there was a lot of bookings and things have got a bit mixed up." They apologised for the fact we were let down by our experience and felt we had to leave - I told them that it wasn't anything personal to the servers, and that we could see that they were trying to do their best. However, we were all really looking forward to trying out Erpingham House (especially as two members of our party are actually meat-eaters but willing to give plant-based a try), and this really didn't fill us with confidence. I felt particularly sad as I'd arranged this family gathering and would really like to come back and try to eat here, but I think either management needs to get more serving staff on the floor, or put in better organisation to utilise the stations and overall efficiency. We ended up going to nearby Zizzi's, despite a bit of an aversion to chain restaurants, and ended up receiving fantastic service and great food. A bit of a shame, as we would have loved to have given our business to a unique, vegan restaurant. Maybe on a better day I'll get to give Erpingham House another chance, but I think it will take some persuading for the rest of my party.

We visited for a family birthday lunch whilst we were in the area.The food was very good quality and really tasty.The restaurant was an amazing place to eat. The meal was made even better by the superb service courtesy of Anna the waitress .Nothing was too much trouble for her.Thoroughly recommend a visit .

We ended up here by accident and weren't planning to have a vegan dinner but loved the food (starter, mains, desert). Staff could perhaps give a bit more attention in between the serving of courses.
