Can I please say thanks for letting me stay in the carpark Saturday night in my motorhome, The pub, food and staff were great 👍🏻, I will be recommending and will return. I would also say well done to the lady behind the bar who was struggling at times because of her broken wrist but she never gave up. Good atmosphere and thanks again

Very disappointed and dissatisfied. We’ve had wonderful visits previously and looked forward to returning but sadly after today we won’t return again. The menu is not cheap and we don’t mind paying out for a good meal and good service but sadly both were lacking and poor value today. We came for lunch and the place was quiet yet it still took 2 hours just for the one main course. Our children were starving and getting very tetchy by the end. When the food came there were missing items. The portions were very mean and the food was described as insipid at best. Bland, dry pies - I’ve had better at the local chip shop. Staff were young, unnatentive and extremely slow. We feel that price cuts have been made in terms of portion size and quality and staff compared to before and now it lacks value, enjoyment and satisfaction. We will not be returning or recommending this place as we have before and it is a shame when we have made a special trip to come.

Was very much looking to our birthday lunch after reading reviews however sorely disappointed. Had checked menu and pretty much decided what wanted before hand with couple.of options only to be told the whole of the chefs specials menu was not available which was a.fair chunk of the entire menu!. The food was bland and mediocre at best (chips were good) so very expensive for what it was (the side salad was a joke) Some of food we ordered was wrong when it arrived and one part had even gone off. The outside area and play area was nice but had to dodge the dog poo on the gravel and also round the climbing frame so not great or pleasant especially when kids are playing and running about.

Absolutely lovely little country pub with fantastic service and even better food. Great environment and the staff will always ensure that you have everything that you need at all times.

No wonder The Farmers Boy has got such a great reputation for its Pies, they really were fantastic. The Shortcrust Pastry was just as it should be and the fillings, especially the Steak and Ale, was 'melt in your mouth' delicious. So many Pubs 'claim' the authenticity of their Pies, but you'd struggle to beat what is on offer here. We were a busy table of seven and the service was impeccable, keeping up with all our requirements. Thanks Farmers Boy, next time we visit the Gloucester area, we'll definitely be back.

Recommended but can't think why? The food was pub grub , expensive and disappointing and we all decided that there was no need to go there again. It was a Friday evening so expected the chef on but if he/ she was it was not noticeable. The staff appeared to be covering a bit of a poor experience for everyone as we noticed disgruntled diners around us and whilst staff were nice and friendly they did not know what they were serving.

Our 50th Wedding Anniversary - 29th June 2024 - Farmers Boy Thank you to Phil and all at the Farmers Boy Inn, Longhope and the band O.C.D. for a wonderful Day. The venue was great the people (thank you to Sara and the gang) were wonderful, the food (thank you, Richard) was so special and the band were exquisite. Rock and Roll Forever! Thank you to all our family and friends!

We regularly go to the farmers boy Longhope for lunch…food so good! Staff friendly and helpful…and pet friendly! Always a really enjoyable experience!

Looked for a place servicing dinner on Easter Sunday. We were attracted to The Farmers Boy as the menu stated award winning pies. The pies were quality. Portions enormous. The traditional Sunday dinner looked amazing. The pudding (panna cotta) was really good. What I really liked was how laid back the atmosphere was. There was a family playing cards. Others with doggies.

We booked and stayed here blind as we were in the area for a funeral . We went by the reviews . What a lovely place Bar/restaurant was loaded with character and friendly faces . Staff were very nice and very helpful We stayed in room 4 which was nicely equipped and clean . Ate at the restaurant that evening which was fantastic and had a nice pint of Guinness too . Had a great nights sleep and followed up with a delicious full breakfast accompanied by a very chatty friendly waitress (Diane I think) . If ever in the Area will be certain to call in again . Greeted by a very aggressive and rude man in fact if we hadn't been with friends who had traveled some distance we would have left immediately. The food was ok, nothing special but not awful just very average. Unfortunately the whole experience was spoiled by the manager, then a few days later we checked our card only to find we'd been over charged and weren't the only ones. Won't be going back

Went there for my husband’s birthday this evening. The girl on the phone was so accommodating , finding me a table despite having an event on. The food was delicious and served with humour and a smile from everybody. Loved the building and the country music made it stand out from other pubs. Well above what I expected from the evening. This was our first visit to The Farmers Boy despite having driven past on numerous occasions, if only we’d realised sooner what we were missing, we’d have been regulars long ago. Although as they say “It’s never too late to join the party” The hospitality is outstanding, you feel at home the moment you walk through the door. We ordered Blackgate 10oz. Rump & the Prime 100% British Beef Burger, both which arrived in good time with appropriate accompaniments. The Steak was cooked to perfection and a generous portion indeed. I have sampled many burgers from various purveyors, claiming superiority of their offering, however I have never enjoyed such a flavoursome, succulent burger as that served last evening at the Farmers Boy. Chef I thank you, an absolute triumph, beyond comparison. We will return…very soon…very soon indeed.

I regularly stop here when travelling to the Wye Valley from Essex, as on top of fabulous food and hospitality they have EV chargers. The ambiance is calm and comfortable, perfect for a stop when charging. Have been in enough times now to be recognised by the staff, but that is only 4 in the last year!

Went with family to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food served was very good as always but we waited about 45 minutes to be served. Asked for desserts and after about more 20min. waiting we had to leave without having them. We had booked a session at the cinema and we couldn't wait any longer. The kids were very disappointed and upset for spending so much time just to have a meal. Staff was friendly but they seem to not care and everybody was waiting ages for their orders to be served. We have been a year ago for a meal and we had a completely different experience back then.

Service was amazing, food was outstanding and puddings were just perfection, all at a very reasonable price too, we will be returning very soon!

We visited 20/12/23 as a large group of 15 people and 4 dogs whilst holidaying in the area with family. The Farmers Boy was very accommodating and we had our own area all seated together. We had pre-ordered our mains prior and service was fantastic. Most of the party had festive menu (turkey) and it was beautiful, lots of it and also complimentary cauliflower cheese and unlimited gravy. Everyone chose different desserts, I had the Terry's chocolate orange cheesecake and it was absolutely beautiful, best I've tasted and it was huge too! Everyone ate and thoroughly enjoyed their desserts. Staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you. They even gave our little one a lovely book. We had a fantastic time and definitely recommend. We had one coeliac and two veggies in our group and they were more than happy to accommodate. I asked if my daughter could have a children’s portion of veggie pie which they did. The food was delicious and my daughter loved her chocolate pud! They made a really big effort to make sure we had a lovely time (even though I had a toddler meltdown on my hands). Will definitely go back 🙂

Went there to try the pies and wasn't disappointed. Burgers were very good too. Welcome, service, presentation and attention to detail all top notch. Staff absolutely fabulous. I'd recommend the bodger pie for first timers, it's a half and half pie so you get to try two different fillings. Will definitely go back.

Great venue, local to us. Food good , if on the expensive side, but there are multiple food selections to be made. Perhaps a more limited choice of desserts! No real ale options but when we visited Doombar was on draft and several lagers. Service was slow but we were a large group and the staff (affected by illness I think) were run off their feet, so we were tolerant. We will certainly return, either as a couple or as a Club.

Worst Sunday lunch ever. Roast dinner served in dish, meat tough, service very bad by waitresses having no idea how to serve, and the owner totally unorganised. The place seem to be in chaos. If today is the usual standard of service and how food is presented, I am surprised if people go back.

Found this place while researching where to eat while staying in the area. Definitely wanted to come in due to their selection of gluten free & veggie options. Unfortunately it worked out that we wouldn't be able to eat in but I called to check if we could take away and I'm so glad I did. We both had one of the famous pies and they were excellent, so flavourful and filling. The mash, chips, and peas were all delicious too. Would love to come back and eat in if we get chance to return to the area.

"Famous" and "Award winning Pie", what I had would not win any prizes, the pie was Bland and mainly gravy. Food looked like 70s school meal but didn't have the flavour,£18 is £10 to much for this standard. Goats cheese salad had plenty of good cheese but the salad resembled garnish there was so little of it. Staff were very pleasant and efficient.

Decided to take on the Big Ugly Burger Challenge at The Farmers Boy Inn!! £30 for the biggest burger, chips, onion rings etc… I’ve ever seen with £20 back if you finish it in 30 minutes!! Didn’t manage that but the food was amazing, service was warm, friendly and efficient and the venue was stunning!! Best £30 I’ve ever spent on food! We all had a great evening and would 100% highly recommend to anyone wanting a lovely evening with lovely people and superb food!! Will be back again soon!! 👍

This place is so good we went for dinner twice in 72hrs whilst staying locally. The staff, service, decor and food are all wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The award winning pies are delicious and when you bite into one you realise why they are award winning, the mash is creamy smooth and mouth watering. Despite being full after the pies we still managed to find space for the delicious cheesecake. If you are looking for a traditional English pub with excellent “pub grub” and great service this is the place to go. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

So glad we waited till the next pub for Sunday lunch, what a lovely inviting place. Staff are are attentive, and funny too. We both had the beef, presentation excellent very tasty and the cauliflower cheese was gorgeous. 10 out of 10 on everything 😋👍

Lovely food. Visited specifically because they do GF pies! A hit with two of our party. A rare treat. Too full after our pies for pudding!

Friendly staff, extensive menu and lovely food. Went out for lunch today (family celebration) and had a lovely meal (and scrummy pudding) will definitely be visiting again and happy to recommend. (I particularly enjoyed the lemon meringue pie, see photo)

We stayed for a 2 night short break. The whole experience was 5 star from start to finish. Room 5 star. Service 5 star. Meal 5 star . Breakfast 5 star . Will be coming back for sure. Very nice over all .

The lady at the bar was lovely and couldn’t fault her. Very warm and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The let-down is the food!! Scampi that had come out the freezer and I’d liken it to what I’d buy in Tesco. The extra veg I ordered had also come straight out of the freezer. Mushy and tasteless! Jesus how hard is it to cut up fresh veg and cook it! Not hard! For me it’s all about the food and this was shocking!

I have been visiting the Farmers Boy Inn for the past 10 years and dropped in for lunch yesterday. The food is always delicious with good portion sizes and value for money. The team are always welcoming and helpful and the place has a lovely cosy country pub feel. My personal favourite is pie and mash - you can’t go wrong! Highly recommend and will be back again soon.

Great food in a stunning pub - loads of choice my partner and I both had the pie. Great taste very well presented imo the best pie I have ever had. Great stocked bar and to top it off you can stay here too !!
