Visited The Farmers Arms on our 37th wedding anniversary, hadn’t booked but were able sit in the alcove which was nice. Food was excellent, very generous portions, steak & ale pie was packed with meat & had no fat. Our waitress was very friendly & attentive.

While on a caravan stay nearby we visited The Farmers Arms for lunch, we were welcomed by polite staff and taken to our table. My husband ordered the steak and Ale Pie with homemade chips and veg, I opted for the roast beef dinner with a huge homemade Yorkshire pudding. Both meals were piping hot just as we like it, and totally delicious!!! Our waitress offered us the dessert menu, as I loved cheesecake and Bakewell tart so much we had both and shared half and half with each other. Both were homemade and delicious!!! We will definitely be returning and would recommend anyone pay a visit to this country pub!! Thanks again for a great meal.

What a lovely place for a tasty homecooked Sunday lunch. The Staff were very friendly, we didn't have a booking, and that was no problem. From the varied menu we chose the traditional Roast Beef dinner with all the trimmings and Roast Chicken with smoked bacon and bbq sauce with cheese on the top, it came with Chips that were 'Real' - you know what I mean, No Frozen Chips here. So glad to see Real Chips. Excellent! We didn't have a dessert, this time, but we will be back, so next time we'll have a dessert too. Recommend The Farmers Arms for people looking for an Out of Town Experience of English Hospitality.

Been approx 3 years since last visit and mostly the same decor . Our waitress was very pleasant and always with a smile. Drink orders taken and duly delivered, even to the extent of non alcoholic gin which is a bonus for my wife. Food orders taken and presented after short period of time. It was mid week so sadly not a lot of people dining. The steak pie is just has good as my last visit and I was told that the cottage pie and veg extremely tasty. All meals hot and presented nicely. Prices realistic. Sweets to were also enjoyable. I would recommend to visit but just out of town which will deter some.

Not impressed. Not many people in but service very slow. Waited nearly 30 minutes for ice cream which was taken to the wrong table, another 20 minutes for milk that wasn’t brought with the coffee. Had to go and ask and a fresh coffee was made. Gone down hill in my opinion. I could have understood it if the place was full but only another 3 tables in there. Won’t be going again any time soon.

On a short break in the area and walked to this local for a Sunday lunch. Having book the evening before specifically for Sunday lunch was a little disappointed to be told on arrival there was only turkey left. After a short while I went to the bar to order to be informed all the turkey had gone! In the end we plumped for other mains which were very nice but not what we set our hearts on. Then when we were eating our desserts we were somewhat annoyed to see 3 turkey lunch’s being served to some people who had arrived 20-30mins after we ordered🤔 Overall a very pleasant country pub - great beer 3 Tuns and the desserts were absolutely delicious.

Lovely country pub in scenic area. Great ambience. Very warm welcome from staff on arriving. Sunday lunch was excellent, good mix of properly-cooked vegetables and two choices of meat today. Portions just right. Well worth crossing three fields from bridge 13 on the canal where we moored. Cost was very reasonable too.

Decided to go out for dinner at short notice, luckily the Farmers Arms were able to fit us in and we weren’t disappointed. I had the pie with chips which was a huge plate of food and my hubby had the lamb shank with veg which he said was delicious, he also had Bakewell tart with cream which was also lovely & a very generous portion. Now usually the food in the Farmers is spot on. However on this occasion it was questionable. We both ordered fajitas. One cajun style and one sweet chilli. The plates arrived with a small portion of plain rice, a very small salad and a small pot of sour cream snd salsa. Then the sizzlers arrived. Well 1 of them was sizzling. The other was bone dry. It had clearly been kept warm for quite a while and was dry and overcooked. In truth the staff should not have sent it out. I also should have asked for it to be redone but I'm not the type for drawing attention to myself. Truth is if this had been my first visit it would also have been my last. So in football terminology you can consider it a yellow card. I had originally asked for steak pie but was told they had ran out at the weekend so it was t ready. This was on a Wednesday so that didn't make sense. Standards are everything.

Visited for the first time in a while on a school night. I had the steak pie with mash and veg, my partner had fish and chips. Fish and chips was freshly cooked and a large portion. Very nice and above average. The pie came with buttery mash and seasonal veg. It was packed with about a pound of beautifully cooked steak with a rich gravy. I was very impressed so decided to see if the same standard would be there on another visit. It was. Again a huge slice of delicious steak pie. Possibly the nicest I've had. My partner this time had a curry which again was a large portion. Very tasty indeed. Next time I'm going to try a roast dinner if I can look beyond that pie..

Prebooked for party of eleven, no fire working, central heating broken therefore ate our meal with coats on. There were two vegetarian options although they didn’t have one of those, the friendly staff were kind enough to find an alternative. Meals were nice but there could have been more food on the plates especially vegetables, we had a choice of five deserts. Apart from our party there was a table of three other people with many empty tables, it’s sad as this pub used to be busy.

Visited today, went a lot before the change of ownership so following the good reviews on this site we decided to go again. We really liked it with the previous owners, however, it is no way near as good as it used to be. We arrived 12.30 only 6 people in. We ordered, nothing for vegans, so ordered just the vegetables, daughter ordered the leek pie vegetarian option on the Sunday Lunch Menu, told it was now cheese and onion, that was ok but disappointing since we were so early ordering. Extra £2.95 for a very small portion of cauliflower cheese. Considering how quiet we waited quite a long time for our meals. When it arrived my husband said the turkey appeared to have been sliced (thinly) and re-heated, son-in-law agreed that he felt the same with the beef. We are not saying it was not cooked on the premises but it certainly had not been sliced from a joint to serve. Very small portions of vegetables cabbage, carrot sticks and a carrot and something puree with lumps, don't go if you are hungry had to ask for extra gravy. My daughter found a piece of beef in her meal, not sure if it was the gravy or the pie but just should not happen - they apologised and took the price off the bill, however, for a vegetarian this is devastating, needless to say she did not finish her meal. Puddings were ordered, because we were still hungry, disappointing, both choice and quality. Had to question being charged £10.95 for vegetables and chips - all in all would certainly not recommend on value for money or quality. When we left at gone 2.00p.m. only another 8 people had arrived. The staff however were very pleasant and polite hence the 2 points.

I had deep fried prawns which were uninspiring. The other 2 in my party had creamy garlic mushrooms in a nest. It sounded interesting but there was too much nest. So tbe starters were average. The mains were a let down with the mixed grill which had very tough and tssteless meat and a peppercorn sauce that included mustard. Not much of a sandwich menu as there seems to be a great emphasis on the 2 course special lunchtime...

We have had good Sunday lunches here and the sweets are great, but stopped for week day lunch and had steak onion and red pepper baguettes with chips: the steak was awful. It was so tough we were unable to even cut it with a knife and it would not even pull apart. We had to take all the steak out of our baguettes and just eat the rest of the meal. When asked if everything was OK we commented on the steak but we were not offered an alternative filling. Steak in baguettes should be fillet steak and we would be willing to pay more for that. Tough steak is inedible therefore a waste of money.

Three of us all ordered different meals which were all excellent and the portion sizes were huge (5 lamb chops for one person!). We shared the potatoes and vegetables but couldn't eat them all. Having heard of the pavlova I ordered that:light, crispy and gooey in the middle but absolutely huge. Only negative was the Gaelic coffee which had squirty cream instead of poured cream.

My husband and I decided to try the Farmers Arms as we had not been for a couple of years. It hadn't changed at all. There was a good selection on the menu and a specials board. I chose the sea bass and it was beautifully cooked and came with new potatoes and veg and a delicious sauce. The desserts were huge and really good. The only let down was the coffee which was not good, otherwise we were very pleased.

Been today for a two course Sunday roast. No roast beef but they had been busy earlier. Not disappointed with starters very fresh and nice. Roast was good but only 2 roast potatoes come on that's why you have a roast veg fresh and cooked well. Staff as always efficient and friendly. Will return excellent value for money.

We arrived here quite late after originally trying to get food at another pub close by. On arrival we were shown to a table was asked what drinks we liked and within 10 minutes our food was ordered. Within 20 minutes we had our food which was tasty. I chose the pork fillet with saute potatoes and vegetables and my husband chose the fish and chips with chunky chips. The service was really good and we would recommend.

Booked a table for 9 in advance, restaurant was full so need to book.Had to say our order several times before it was successfully taken. When It arrived several dishes were over cooked and tough, dishes arrived with chips in, told it was a double portion with one person on one end of the table and the other on the opposite end, would be easier to have separate portions than have to pass bowls around!Served dinner with the waiters tea towel dipped in the gravy on the plate. Vegetables arrived with cauliflower covered in cheese sauce which covered all the other veg unfortunately, no option given on this, and would have refused if given the option as not a fan of cheese sauce, especially on carrots!Desserts were enormous which was a massive positive for the kids with us.Went to the bar to pay the bill to be ignored by a man fixing the soft drink dispenser with screwdrivers instead, took the waitress to ask him to help me.Restaurant staff were all lovely and very hard working. Won't be returning

Took my parents for lunch to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Meals were all good and portions were huge. The only downside was the long wait for our food.

Enjoyed a lovely meal, dessert and coffees at The Farmers Arms this evening.I have been coming here with a group of friends for special occasions for some time now and have never had a bad thing to say about anything. Service is good, a very good choice of main courses and desserts to die for. Highly recommend the pavlova - yummy.

Friendly staff, good food. Not a great deal of selection for vegetarians. Also the chips came in separate (small) bowls which we where told are 'double portion' so had to share, would have preferred my own chips. However food was to a good standard.

Decent food and plenty of it, but too expensive, considering that the premises left a lot to be desired. Staff were friendly and efficient, but that still didn't justify a bill of over £55 for a lunch for two.

We have not been before but decided to give it a go. The staff where welcoming and we where shown straight to our table. It was noted that it was not very warm in the restaurant. Two of the party kept their jackets on. Service was quick and the drinks arrived quickly. The food was piping hot and well presented. The steak was fantastic!. The fish pie was excellent! The puds are really good. Good portions and well presented. After the meal, we wanted to play cards so asled of we could go through to the bar area. This was not a problem and we continued our Tab from the restaurant. The bar area was cold as well!. It was a shame as it was spoiling our evening. When we asked for the bill, it came quickly but the waitress said it was not printed very well and was not easy to read. We went to pay, only to be told we had not presented enough cash to cover the bill!. When asked for another £20 we asked her to check her sums!. Turns out that we where correct. It's not an ideal end to an evening. To sum up, It's got great food.Very good value.Just disappointed it was cold in the restaurant and bar, and the problem with the bill. It's very popular and all the tables where full. Would we go again?. Probably not.

Food has got expensive, on the website states paninis £7.75, when the actual price in the cafe is over £10. We had 2 paninis and a pot of tea, the bill came to over £27. We use the cafe on a regular basis, but will be giving it a miss from now.

The most appalling 'meal' and service that I have ever been subjected to. We ordered steak and ale pie and this was brought out to us and placed on our table and described as a pie. However, there was absolutely no pastry, just a bit of gravy in a dish. When I called the waiter back he said 'to be honest, we've ran out of pastry' - are these people for real? To add insult to injury, the manager actually tried to charge us for the pies we never received!!!! Shambolic and not for the first time, but definitely for the last. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY!!!!

This place has a vast amount of things for children to play on. However don’t expect to get food quick- they have two cage areas but one is never open and the other has a constant huge queue because the staff take forever! Even if you want drinks you have to queue with the food and last time we queued for 25 minutes! Ridiculous when you have children to supervise and feee!
