The Farm Shop Cafe in Chelmsford

Avoid!! Bullied and shouted at by the 80 year old owner! My order was late and the owner bullied me to the point that I walked out the shop and cried! I was left to go hungry and was told that I wasn't allowed to have a refund even though I didn't get any food. He told me that he has run the shop for 10 years and never makes mistakes and the reason I wasn't going to be given my food was because I had already received it - which I hadn't. I've never been made to feel so small so I asked for my money back if I wasn't going to receive my food and he screamed at me, saying I was rude. When I asked how I was being rude, he refused to answer and told me he knows best because he runs the shop. He refused to give me my money back and told me to leave his shop, whilst screaming at me, telling me I wasn't welcomed back because I was bullying him. Avoid at all costs!

Stopped in for coffee and a snack. We found the service attentive, very friendly staff and coffee was lovely. In fact so nice we went back later for another drink. Have also booked an afternoon tea.

First thoughts of this cafe, amazing - looked cute ! However it was a different story!! Half an hour into the opening hours and the flatbread was no longer being served despite half of the menu consisting of flatbread! Slow service, disengaged service, price was okay and good selection of sweet treats but food menu itself was quite limited. Unfortunately I would not be going back but I would not totally hate on the cafe - I recommend you to try it for yourself!

Nice enough place, but it lacks atmosphere. Service a bit slow. Only had coffee so cannot comment on food.

I was impressed, even when is was Pause so they havent improved, which is a shame because the food is good. Firstly the waitress was a bit disengaged and after try to order three different drinks all of which they'd ran out of, including ice we settled on orange juice and water. Went for salmon flatbread and risotto, both good. Ask for more water which was forgotten and then two coffees. Hasn't inspired me to go back.

Called in for a snack on Sunday lunchtime. Plenty of seats outside but choose to sit in. Menu a little short but fine for a snack. Served by two very helpful and pleasant ladies. Coffee was lovely and was the all day Full English. Now it wasn't cheap and we did have a wait but the food truly was excellent! So, grat service, excellent fresh food and coffee, two very happy customers, thank-you! Quite busy and deserves to be, we will return.
