Pre booked tables were being used, service dreadful, coffee tepid, cake arrived when we had all drunk our coffee, restaurant manager unfriendly and dismissive, tables not been wiped, crumbs under the chairs.Decor lovely and expensive but ‘fur coat and no knickers’ - need to get the essentials right pdq!!One positive - young waiter Tom was a star.

Come here - it's just.. correct. Everything is as it you would like it to be, and as it should be. A credit to Adam and his team

Positives* The place is lovely, gorgeous terrace, with views over the countryside. It looks lovely inside, too. Negatives* The service. We wanted to pop in for a drink after a long walk... what a drama! the first lady said we needed to book and couldn't be bothered to check for a table...when we asked she went inside and someone else came out, who didn't seem to know either . Eventually a manager came out and said it was fine. As my family was led to the table, I went off to move the car, at which point ANOTHER member of staff stopped me and said they were fully booked! It was quite comical.* I don't mind paying a premium for a lovely place. But 4 pounds for a small bottle of bog standard coke is just silly. Particular when a large bottle of local cider (very nice) was just 80p more.* The bill came with a gratuity automatically included, and that is a real pet hate. I didn't have the energy to argue. I hope these guys get their act together, because it's a lovely place. But it needs to be more welcoming to all, and not just the Northants posh welly brigade. We're certainly not in a rush to return.

Friendly staff and yet still remain professional, entices me to return again and again. The ambiance , well I should say has a great vibe to the place.Champagne was served , the food was very tasty.

Sunday lunch with a French menu that the staff could not translate. Great setting, awful service and food. Food serviced cold, then reheated. £75 Champagne served in a dripping wet wine glass!

A long while ago the Falcon used to be the place to eat. It used to be the place for American tourists - people who, at home, are finickity and fussy about everything, who consider themselves epicurean and cultured.

Dropped in for sunday lunch the hotel was a bit up market for me but pleasant surroundings, we sat out in the garden area on a beautiful sunny day but when the food was brought out we were quickly disappointed, my friend (who is a chef) said things were not right with the food but we tucked in, paid the bill and left. Not long after I had to make a dash for home with crippling stomach spasms and explosive bowl movements and my friend wasn't much better.Won't be going there again.

We were actually here for a Wake. I have been here several times and found it to be a very friendly little pub. The staff had put together a reasonably versatile buffet for the Wake, too much white bread, but that's personal choice. The lemon drizzle cake was outstanding. I was pleased that the barmaid suggested that the surplus food should be taken to the bar to be shared rather than wasted.

The place looks good and it nice inside with entertainment but the food is not good at all we had two chicken wraps and baguette melts that were not melted or warm they were cold and also we had a even bigger breakfast with hashbrowns, sausage and bacon is cooked enough and my personal self had a mixed gril the gammon was bland with no taste and the chicken was stone cold and steak wasn't too bad but disappointed is a understatement and the service was poor we tried to get servers attention twice and was blanked and it just felt depressing it wasn't nice so this why I give this a 2 star this is a genuine review it isn't good for food.

The Anchor is a top pub. Paul is world class bartender. Great vibes. Love the local feel and cold beers. Have a game of darts as well.

Rustic historic pub in the centre of Melton Mowbray, drinks priced reasonably and a lovely beer garden for when the weather is nice. Staff are friendly too, great atmosphere in the winter (very cosy and homely). Highly recommend if you're visiting Melton Mowbray and want to enjoy a nice drink in a traditional pub
