Great place for a drink but if you want to eat order a packet off crisps ( that's if they've got some ! ) No staff , no food ....

Awful staff, very rude. Dirty pub. Worst dining experience ever. They should nt be allowed to deal with people. Food very average once the correct dish finally arrived.

Came here on a Friday evening with my family, ordered food and drinks from 2 young girls less than enthusiastic about life never mind serving customers. Food arrived the first 3 meals were correct and looked nice, when my meal arrived I said that’s not what I have ordered. The barmaid (blonde) told me I had!! I told her I didn’t like it and she proceeded to tell me I was wrong! So I sat quiet while she proceeded to bring more food out we didn’t order… again I said we haven’t ordered this. She then came out with the correct food and said “oh that foods for them over there, you may as well keep it” Then my mum said her peppercorn sauce is missing, the girl then said “well you need to pay for what you’ve had first!” Why on earth should we pay for something we haven’t ordered!!?? Then to add insult to injury the chef came out of the kitchen made a point of saying to us we should have said we shouldn’t keep what we haven’t ordered!! By this point I was fuming!! I went into the kitchen and told her what I thought of the place!! Awful lying staff!! Zero customer service whatsoever!! Plus the whole place is loppy!!! I will never return here again!!! And it’s quite the shame as I’m very local and the food actually looked quite nice!!!

We came here on Sunday, lunchtime. We ordered drinks and I asked for 2 Belgian White. The barmaid with blonde hair, tied back said "we haven't got that"...no offer of alternatives and she didn't seem bothered about the customer at all. I then asked for a menu, she said "we don't do food". This was a Sunday lunchtime! I sat down and noticed other people were being served plates of food, so I asked again if they are doing food. She said they are but caveries only and they don't take walk ins! It's strange that, as there is no option to book a table on their website. They obviously didn't want our custom and the nonchalant attitude made us feel unwelcome. We came out for a nice family drink and meals and didn't get the drinks we wanted, that were displayed and for some reason, they obviously didn't want to serve us any food. It was a very hostile atmosphere. The walls inside are chipped and battered and the tables outside are brittle and the slats broken, my brother nearly lost his drink as it collapsed in. Their can't be bothered attitude and strange/confusing/lies did not leave a good impression. I have never been to a Bateman's pub before and after this experience, I won't be going again. I hope this pub becomes one of the many that close down daily, as they don't appreciate or deserve custom and can't be bothered to maintain their premises to a high standard. There are plenty of nice pubs in the area, this is not one of them. To be avoided.

Casual night didn't come out till late wanted to see what the so called Niel diamond tribute was about safe to say was disappointed!! that this is another tribute act that doesn't deliver. First spot actual songs he sung then the second spot was all dance and nothing to do with niel diamond... what's the point??? The land-lady was in not actually working started to behave in a disgusting manner telling the bar staff not to speak to me and my friend (BARE IN MIND WE HAD DONE NOTHING WRONG!) throwing authority around when not on shift. As a manger myself I was highly discusted as I could never treat my staff like that... a customer is a customer and should be treated like customer not like a piece of dirt on the bottom of someone's shoe ! Me and my friend came in on this night for a good night out but was shortly ruined by herself and her family threatening and causing a scene calling my friend a name that causes a bad reputation that he cannot walk around without someone saying something nasty to him. and also in the process grabbing hold of me and throwing me back for tryin help someone in tears... Im never going in when she is on shift I don't want to be associated with a vile member of staff.... there isn't only me that has complained but there are many others that have complained in the fact that they haven't done anything or said anything out of turn but have been barred for no reason ! The reason that this pub is losing its custom is all down to the manageress that hasn't got a clue brings all her problems from home and takes it out on all of her customers. It's not on and something needs to be. With this behaviour I really don't see why she still has a job if that was me I wouldn't have the audacity to walk near the place with embarrassment. I would like to speak to the head person (owner) face to face to raise this concern ! Enough is enough...

The food was really good but the attitude and manner in which the manager spoke to me was absolutely disgusting,I asked if there was a different table to sit at to eat our food because it felt a bit cramped and squeezed in,the managers words were “if I didn’t like it not to bother coming”this was said in front of other customers,which I found very unprofessional and rude

We pre-booked a table for a party of 10 for 2:30pm today as it was to celebrate our parents wedding anniversary and we got there 15 minutes early only to be told that because we were “late” our table had been given away to another party. It was poorly explained that the person who originally took our reservation over the phone must have booked us in for 2pm by mistake and we were classed as no shows and there was nothing they could do. I do understand that mistakes happen from time to time and businesses can’t afford to have no shows, but the attitude from the member of staff was appalling! We were obviously disappointed but the staff member just kind of shrugged and said that even if we’d have gotten there for 2pm it still wouldn’t have meant that a table was guaranteed anyway because it’s a busy time for them, which we weren’t made aware of at the time of booking otherwise we wouldn’t have even bothered. To add insult to injury, the table that should have been ours was still right there and completely empty and remained empty as we waited in the bar area for around 20 minutes whilst deciding what to do next, as like I said, this was supposed to be an anniversary meal and was supposed to be a special occasion. Upon seeing the table was still empty, we asked if we could just still have it? but was refused as it was now pre-booked for another party of 12, but surely that new booking wasn’t guaranteed for that party any more than ours was originally?! And we were right there waiting looking at the empty table!! They obviously didn’t want our custom and the attitude was that they didn’t really care anyway. My parents are victims of the October floods, they don’t even have a kitchen themselves at the moment and we thought taking them out for a meal on their special occasion would be a great way to treat them but instead, it put a real dampener on what should have been lovely time and celebration and we ended up back at my house with a takeaway instead. If could give this place 0 stars, I would.

Terrible mashed potatoes cold and had formed a slight crust, cauliflower cheese barely warm, green beans almost raw, carrots cold. Even the roast pots and parsnips were cold. Gravy was warm. Lots of meat in the portion that was the most positive thing. Needless to say we were disappointed and will not be returning

Food is average pub grub but don’t bother staying in the overnight accommodation: - Airless bedroom that was stale and smelly - Road noise with windows open - Noise of other guests in corridors/rooms - Cheap, tasteless and charmless furniture / fittings in bedroom - Stained carpets and generally dirty feeling - Outside fire escape access steps to the accommodation in the rain - No breakfast

Went for the Sunday dinner it was fantastic meal and the price was fantastic for value I had the beef and pork it was so tasty and tender the veg was amazing and that mash was to die for so would highly recommend plus the chef that served the carvery is tasty to shame was not on the dessert menu.

I took my family out for a Sunday lunch and was amazed at the quality of food even though it was 2 Sunday dinners for £9.95 the chief was very helpful in helping my autistic daughter to choose her meat and even made her laugh she said he was very funny. The only thing that spoiled the experience was rude customers who seamed to have a problem with a table booking I take my hat off to the staff who continued to be professional even though they were being swore and shouted at well do to all of them. Don’t think I would have been as professional as they were to be honest. I will definitely be returning for meals again especially the 50% off day

Came here for Sunday dinner with my family and friends and what more could you want for two Sunday dinners at £9.95!!!! The staff were super nice. The chef serving the food was so polite and helpful. Think his name was Danny? The food was fresh and the Yorkshire puddings were beaut and also HUGE!Honestly could not fault it, definitely going back for another dinner!!

First off, the staff need a lesson in customer service! Arguing with customers is not the way to go about it in the hospitality industry! Granted we were 10 minutes late and they give your table to someone else!! We were a family of 10 and then wanted us to sit on tables not suitable for children! The table they wanted us to sit at was in the bar area (which children are not allowed in) and if one of our kids fell, they would have been seriously hurt! They then had us waiting for a further hour before the 1 hour time limit on the table that should have been ours was then free. The drinks are awful! Rola cola and tastes disgusting! Awful looks from the staff Now for the food! Not one member of staff asked if our food was "OK" tell you what it is far from ok!! Pork was the only choice. Our family argued if it was Pork or turkey as the meat was that tasteless! - it was also red which made me think it was not even cooked properly The one piece of stuffing was actually quite nice! (Still cold though) The one parsnip we was given was edible The carrots were freezing cold The one Yorkshire pudding we was given was freezing cold (I asked for a replacement that was hot and was literally chucked it at me) Carrots! Freezing cold and hard One potato, hard luke warm I have a carvery once ever two weeks and must surely this is the worst carvery I have ever had! One of our party found a full wig in her food! The food is what I left (in one of the pictures)! I never leave food at a carvery but this was disgusting! Definitely would NOT return!! The flies in the conservatory were actually friendlier than the staff!! And they weren't even bothered about the food! Staff * Food * Drinks * Pay that little bit extra and get a better dinner! Imagine the worst all inclusive hotel food and x it by 10!!

We had a fantastic lunch - Carvery on Sunday 11 June. Choice of 3 meats, beef, pork and turkey, loads of fresh veg, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, new potatoes and mashed, cauliflower cheese, carrots, peas, massive yorkshire pudding and gravy with lots of sauces without having to ask Horseradish, apple, mint. Absolutely couldn't believe all this for Two for £10. Can't wait to go again!!! Also a great conservatory overlooking the golf course.

When making a booking in advance I generally find a table to be assigned to that booking but when we arrived we were left feeling a little confused as we were told although there were many empty tables that we could either sit at a table they required back over an hour later or that we could take our food through to the bar to sit. We choose to sit at the table believing that we would indeed be completed and out although no time limit was stated at the time of booking and well an hour is more that enough for a Sunday dinner with it being a carvery. The various other tables remained empty which puzzled me to why there wasn't a table assigned to us originally. The remainder of the time spent in the restaurant was like watching a game of musical chairs with staff running about with a piece of A4 paper with some scribbled names, pax numbers and booking times I guess - moving tables and chairs here there and everywhere around us which wasn't perhaps the greatest of experiences whilst surrounded by some beautiful views of the local golf course. We were told we had to pay for our carvery and drinks at the small bar area in the restaurant - although as soon as we went to pay there the staff member made herself scarce. We moved through to pay in the bar area after a wait and then were surprised to not receive a ticket or receipt for the carvery itself. We braved ourselves and proceeded to the carvery counter. We were luckily met by a friendly smile of one of the two chefs serving the carvery - the choice was good (3 meats per most standard) and the Giant Yorkshires to die for - the veg selection was good and gravy thick (just the way I'm told the Yorkshire people like it) - some of the veg selection was a little cold and could have done with being warmer with appropriate serving lamps like other carveries. We were not offered any desert or post meal coffee etc but that might have been because it seemed we were getting close to overstaying our welcome although many, many empty tables still remained next to us and in the conservatory area.

Terrible experience. Arrived at 7pm to check in. One young man serving the bar, meals and guests checking in. This meant waiting for a considerable time at the bar to ask about checking in. He was very polite and was trying his best but he was out of his depth working the bar himself. Waited over an hour for food and pints of Moretti were off. However the fish and chips were very good when they did arrive. Ended up checking in at 9.30pm when the pub quietened down. Upon trying to check in, I was met by a manager who informed me I would need to pay again for my room. I had already paid through booking.com but she was adamant the hotel hadnt recieved the money. She said if I want to stay I must pay again and chase booking.com for a refund. This is entirely incorrect and our conversation went back and forth for about 10 minutes. Her attitude was shocking, she was rude and I felt it bordered on confrontational whenever I tried to explain myself. Eventually, after she phoned higher mgmt, I was given the key to my room. The room had been paid for and I had confirmation from booking.com and the bank as proof. Room was freezing cold and shower couldn't have been smaller. Exiting the hotel in the morning was via a metal fire escape staircase on the outside of the building ( thick with black ice.) No instructions on what to do with room key so I posted them. Overall a very poor experience.

The service we received today was appalling. We had a pre booked table for 6 people including a baby with a high chair, we arrived and the lady I spoke to didn’t seem to know where we was sat. Other tables had reserved in the middle but there wasn’t one for us, so the put 2 tables together that weren’t even level or straight for us to sit at and there was no high chair which I requested. It took over 10 minutes to get served for a drink as there was nobody at the bar, then when my partner and my friends partner went to order our food, the lady was quite rude and blunt by saying “what do you want” and then when asked to see a children’s menu she replied by saying everything that was on it rather than giving a menu. My partner was waiting next and she asked if he had been served to which he replied no, she ignored him and asked the other gent waiting at the bar instead. When my partner finally gave our order, she must have asked about 10 times what he wanted (my partner is welsh but is very easy to understand) and she bluntly just said “I don’t know what you’re saying”. Whilst waiting for food, my friend and her partner received theres (very small portions) and we was waiting for our food for nearly 15 minutes after there’s had arrived which is shocking considering we are at the same table. We asked for extra as it stated on the menu you can have this optional, and when fetched out the girl just stood holding it and said “I don’t know where to put it.” We then ordered some more drinks for myself and my daughter to which took another 10 minutes with nobody at the bar. All in all, terrible service and rude manners. We won’t be returning.

Worst hotel i have ever been to i asked for a ground floor as disabled was told on phone they dont have grounf gloor rooms ans the way in was up and down a fire escape could not stay there and moved to a lovely hotel were staff was lovely they hsve refused to pay my money back it is a dangerous hotel and a fire risk as stairs in main hotel was blocked by bedding and towels and staff have ni manners ive been fobbed of all week to speak to a manager only after nearly a werk i get to speak to the women that was there on the friday and had many phone calls with her saying ring back as you need to speak to the manager that ends up being her she said the was out side steps but never said fire escape what should have been said is i dont think this hotel is any good for you but its a easy money makeing thing G Palmer

Worst pub I have ever been to, we attempted to find which side of the bar we were able to order at without any support from the bar staff. A woman behind the bar clearly knew we were confused as they had several signs up along the bar saying you were unable to order at the bar which led us to believe we had to walk around to the other side. A very rude manager eventually explained that we could order at the bar but only in the gap between the signs that stated you were unable to order at the bar. The manager directed us around to the other side of the bar back to the women who we first saw who found it hilarious and continued to ask what we wanted having her back to us and sticking up the fridge. Thankfully a young lad came and took our order - safe to say we won’t be coming back. After having our drinks and seated we were then asked if they could take our temperatures and contact details AFTER coming in to contact with 6 people. Clearly paying for a drink is their priority and not people’s health. As for the signs on the bar it makes it very difficult for a person with a leaning difficulty hard for them to understand. After this the manager came over to the table and didn’t acknowledge anyone on the table and took one glass leaving the rest when they were empty.

just been to Fairways for Sunday Lunch. Excellent, good value for money. Staff took temp checks and names of all customers for Covid, I witnessed staff cleaning furniture and tables after customers had left. Would go back again.

Food is always lovely when I come here home-cooked food fills us up so fresh flavours are amazing right nice xxxx. Maz an Donna are the best

I have just had a three couse xmas lunch at Fairways with my two sister The food was excellent, the welcome and friendlyness of the staff was the best ive experinced in a long time. Excellent value for money. I am going back next week with my family. Really excited such a find. Go try xxxx

Yesterday myself & 30 friends had lunch here & the food & service was amazing. We pre-ordered our food, it was ready for the time we asked for & was piping hot. I did not hear one complaint from anyone, we will definitely arrange an event here again. The pies were especially fantastic.

We went to the Fairways for lunch on Sunday, and had a carvery. We were really impressed! The meat was lovely, and the vegetables were all fresh, and well-prepared. Even the stuffing balls were home made. So often we have had carveries which are cold on the plate by the time you get back to the table, but in a busy session, the whole system ran smoothly. One of my sons had the Gourmet Burger, which was great, and the chips are amazing. We gamely went on to try the puddings, which were also lovely, but we couldn't finish it all! Well done guys on fantastic food, being very family friendly and so welcoming, with quick and friendly service, for a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Went to the fairways as they have a new menuThere was 2adults 2 kids And the bill was reasonable The people who carnt move with the times need to get a grip the only reason I came is because they have done away with the cheep 2 4 10 menu I don't mind paying for good food I had the gourmet burger and my wife had the tikka It came out in good time as Well The service was spot on will be back very soon

Paid £80 for 5 meals and 2 kids meals my food came cold 2 of my kids had chicken korma which tasted and looked like a microwave meal. Went before 6pm and there was no 2 for £10 like stated on website only good thing about the meal was it was quick to get food. WILL NEVER GO AGAIN.

Two night stay for work, good clean room, great service, good food and cheap beer, what more could you ask for!

Stayed one night after a local wedding. Arrived 1-00pm. The bar was exteremely noisy due to football shown on TV. Noise went on until midnight. However, staff very friendly and we were served quickly. Meal was the usual pub grub menu but arrived quickly, was cooked well and was well served. The room we stayed in overnight was 'adequate'. Warm, comfortable beds but overall cleanliness was not up to standard. TV remote missing.

We went as a group of friends after football for food. Service was extremely poor, waited over an hour even though we were first in and first to order. Carvery was good to be fair but the rest of the food was poor and service even worse. My sons sausage and chips were burnt, the order came over the period of an hour with barely any of us eating together and kids ice cream was a saga. 8 kids and think they ran out as half of them got 2 scoops and the other half got 1 scoop filled up with cream. No real apology from manger either. Will never go back.

My friends and myself for a lunch time meal .The seating lounge was freezing , we ordered our meals that took nearly an hour , when it finally arrived it was stone cold and even a white hair in my food , my friends meals were the same .Definitely won't be coming again for a meal. The plates were freezing too . Wish we had gone somewhere else now for lunch , the staff were to busy on her phone and could not be bothered .This pub use to be lovely and it needs a good shake up to improve

Called in here for the carvery and not disappointed

We went here with friends for a carvery today. We started by ordering drinks. The service was ridiculously slow and it wasn’t busy. I couldn’t have a pint of cordial as they only do half pints??? The barman didn’t start pouring the drinks until the order was completed and paid for even though I had to wait for a friend who had popped to the car? Then comes lunch! I don’t know how long the pork had been in the oven but it was certainly cooked! Dry doesn’t come close. The gentleman serving puts your roast potatoes out for you which is something I’ve never seen before at a carvery? Maybe they were special very expensive potatoes? The veg was also over cooked apart from the sprouts which were quite nice. We then endured a lengthy wait for the kids desserts, which in fairness was shop bought fudge cake so why it took so long I’ve no idea? In short I will never eat here again.

We had the hunters chicken and it was dry, burnt & impossible 2 cut. The veg consisted of cold peas n carrots. The home made chips were about the only thing 2 salvage this horrendous meal. Even bn charged £1.10 for an orange juice made with warm tap water.

Having eaten here dozens of times before we went for a family Sunday lunch and chose the carvery and it was absolutely shocking. £9 a pop and without doubt one of the worst Sunday lunches we've ever had. We arrived at 12.30pm so not a late start by any stretch, but when they took the foil off the veg it was clear from the outset this was going to be terrible as they were all dried up. The guy carving gives you 3 cuts of meat which are the thinnest of cuts and on small plates. Definitely won't be having a carvery here again, especially when so many others like Winter Green are cheaper and better quality. It's a shame as the pub itself is ok after the refurb but word about the food must getting around because it was empty. Time to recruit a chef I think instead of using young bar staff to cook.

Came here for tea with my daughter today and the food was amazing , we both had burgers and they were lovely , we also had nacho starter which could be a meal in itself , was so full has to leave a lot of food as you do get a lot for your money will definitely go back just not order a starter next time

We had numerous meals at this hotel and the breakfast was very good .Many choices on the menu and both the alchol and food prices were very reasonable

Having a new management team in has made a massive difference for the better ! Getting back to our friendly local ! Visited for Mother’s Day meal, the food and service were very good.

Visited today after the refurb. Meat was wafer thin, cold and over cooked served on cold plates with vegetables served in cold tureens, very disappointed was much better when they had the old carvery. Will not visit again

Decidimos visitar aquí en el último momento ya que no podíamos decidir dónde ir para comer el domingo y no había visitado el lugar para un par de años.

El dueño del hotel era absolutamente encantador - ella era muy acogedor y nos ayudó con nuestra estancia.

Pasó por este pub muchas veces y siempre quise probarlo. Hoy estaba visitando la familia y decidí hacer mi madre para el almuerzo. Decidí sin comer en las calles ya que ninguno de nosotros había estado antes. Encontramos una mesa tranquila con vistas al campo de golf que era agradable. Ordenados en el bar, parrillada mixta, pollo hamburguesa y 2 lattes. El joven que nos sirvió fue educado y traído nuestro lattes. Nuestra comida llegó unos 15 minutos más tarde, mi plato era una pila de comida, que no esperaba después de pagar tan poco por la comida. Todo era precioso y la hamburguesa de pollo también parecía estupendo! Sin duda volveremos y recomendaremos! Gracias por una gran comida.

Después registré me dieron la habitación 11. Habitación básica esperaba por el precio de 45 libras la noche, pero con el agregado de compra adicional para el desayuno. La habitación era grande y sólo atienden por un pequeño radiador enchufado a la pared. Como la habitación estaba helada, enseguida me enciende. A menos de 30 minutos la habitación sólo parecía más frío, así que nos registramos al encontrar que no funcionaba. Me preguntaba si tenía sólo estropeó así más tiempo para permitir que posiblemente contador. Después de otros 30 minutos, todavía no funcionaba, así que fuimos a recepción para informar (no hay teléfono en la habitación para permitir este). La recepcionista dijo que el radiador y el registro de las calderas y háganmelo saber. Después de más de 20 minutos de espera y más caída en mi temperatura corporal fui con mi equipaje para pedir que salir con un reembolso. La misma recepcionista dijo que tenía que conseguir a alguien de la gerencia a verme así de nuevo esperé más frío en la zona de recepción para que llegue. Un director debidamente llegó después de 10 minutos más y sin ninguna disculpa ha explicado que era ridículamente ocupado en el bar y no se reembolsará. Protesté que debido a los servicios inadecuados de esta era lo que yo quería, pero de nuevo se negó que el resto de habitaciones estaban disponibles para mí. Esto no era algo a lo que ahora estaba interesado en debido a mi confianza en este hotel que está severamente bajos. Deseaba volver a su trabajo aunque ofrecía una comida, incluso ofreciéndose a topar me up en vez de esperar los 50 minutos más otros clientes tuvo que soportar.

Visitamos sin planificación. Corrí hacia el aparcamiento estaba bien. Personal amable. Pedimos pastel de carne con cerveza y una hamburguesa doble jack daniel salsa, patatas fritas tan encantador. Este lugar bien merece una visita. Nos quedamos agradablemente sorprendidos por este lugar. Sin duda volveremos, buena relación calidad-precio y excelente calidad. Parece que hacer ofertas especiales en determinados días, tendremos que probar!

En el registro en el personal era encantador y amable el pub tenía ambiente y la comida se veía preciosa. Ir a nuestro. en habitación Superior Habitación no me llame que era básico. En reserva. com dice desayunamos. . En el pub dijeron que era continental. Manzanas plátanos naranjas. Caja de cereales coco pops bares alpen! Cuando me senté en mi habitación de gente cantando aquí podía reír y sillas en movimiento. En la noche iba a ser un disco. . Me fui a las 2 horas de llegar sé que no hubiera tenido una buena noche de sueño para £49 Este no era para mí

We held our funeral reception at the Fairways this week. From the outset, Michaela and Jason accommodated all of our requests and went the extra mile to ensure all went perfectly and to plan...... We were not disappointed. The food and service was superb and their enthusiasm and commitment was faultless. I cannot praise these guys enough. We will be back for 'pie night'.

I booked for a business trip as we were attending an exhibition the day after.Upon check-in we were told that there was a disco on that evening. Being a Saturday night we thought that was fine. However we soon realized that our room seemed to be directly over the actual disco. The bass on the disco was so loud that you could hear it over any of the music (when it played in bits without the bass it wouldn't have been too bad) and we could join in with the music quiz from our bedroom. The food was lovely, the rooms were nice and when we finally were able to get to sleep we slept really well.Disco's according to the DJ are on every Saturday night, so unless you are staying here for a night out - then be aware of the music.

Ate here for Sunday lunch with friends. Very good atmosphere and friendly for kids. Only downside for me was lack of real ale

we have just been to this pub/restaurant for a meal and I have to say the service was shocking we waited 50 minutes for our meals even though the pub was not busy and when the food arrived it was terrible I ordered a combo meal for 1, the ribs were inedible the corn cob was cold they had missed some items off and brought them out later .my wife ordered scampi with jacket potato and mushy peas which were just slapped on the plate stone cold and looked a mess.my son and his partner ordered chicken and beef fajita wraps for 2 to sharethese came with no plates to make the wraps on and there was no chicken it was only beef and this was swimming in fat/grease.no cutlery was provided until we asked for some ,and when we asked to complain we were initially told to call at the bar on our way out.my wife then insisted on speaking to a manager who just said sorry your not enjoying your meal would you like a drink or bottle of wine or 25% off your food bill which is what was given without asking .we weren't after any discount's but a sincere apology wouldn't have gone amiss.I would not recommend this pub after my latest visit I have been here before and always been more than satisfied with it but today was a total shambles.please think twice before eating at his pub we were going to hold my 60th birthday party here for 20 people but will seek an alternative venue after todays embarrassing display.

Just had a Sunday lunch carvery which was beautiful. A choice of 4 meats accompanied by a Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and 3 types of potato (roast, mash & boiled) and a section of 6 vegetables all done to perfection! One small gripe ... hubby's beef could have done with been a bit warmer. But apart from that it's been great. Welcoming staff, a friendly atmosphere and all round a fab place to eat.

First visit to Brinsworth in over 40 years and a first time stay at Fairways. The most friendly of friendly places i have visited. The staff seemed so comfortable, going that extra yard for you and in the friendliest kind if way. My stay there was due to a visit to Rotherham to watch The Everly Pregnant Brothers perform along with Tony Cristie, who is still trying to find the way to Amarillo. When i arrived a most important football match between Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City was on the numerous TVs and of course the bar areas were mobbed. Not a rowdy mob but a friendly mob. I have always been proud to be a Yorkshire man and this trip back into that great county once again confirmed that Yorkshire folk are among the friendliest in the world. Though mobbed the excellent bar service produced drinks with speed and a smile. Outside, the veranda overlooked one of the fairways of the Pheonix Golf Club and was well set out out with plenty of seating. Even the smoking area had its own TV (Landlords take note) Yes! even us 'Snout Casts' were well appreciated and looked after. My room was perfect Well set out spotless and very comfortable.Overall this was a great experience and one that I am keen to repeat as soon as I possibly can. Every one concerned should give them selves a real big pat on the back. Terrific! Well done!

Stayed one night on business and found the hotel to be cheap, clean and have everything I needed. The rooms are dated but fine, other than they need new blackout curtains as they were full of light by 5.30 am. I stayed on the top floor corner room and it was quiet and bed comfortable. The on site restaurant is fine serving a large selection of pub grub, the black pudding stater was huge and delicious, the sausages and Yorkshire pudding main was huge and terrible with very old burnt chips and very burnt onions. The staff were very pleasant however and they have an adults only section so if you don't want to have rowdy children next to you this is an option. Overall good value for money if you need somewhere to stay for work, wouldn't stay here for leisure.

Came on a quiet thursday afternoon,ordered 2 steaks, both medium rare. Found it strange that they offer mushy peas with a steak, anyway, the steaks came, both were sent back pretty much straight away, my sirloin was well done. They came back within 2-3 minutes, a bit under but that was fine. Ordered a pepper sauce, which was just chip shop gravy with some black peppercorns, on a brighter note, the homemade chips were nice along with the coleslaw. A lot of bad reviews regarding staff but we had no problems, very helpful.

Well,I really don't know where to start!first of all,I never,ever complain........until now!there was my wife and I,and my two daughters.we were warmly welcomed into the restaurant,and shown to a nice,clean table.good start.unfortunately,it started going downhill when we approached the food.The tin foil was removed,to reveal a pice of beef that looked like you'd need a power saw to cut it,gammon,a piece of pork that scarily resembled a joint from Mr Mathews,and turkey.veg?well,mashed or burnt roast potatoes,cabbage,but not enough for us all,peas like bullets.oh,nearly forgot,the paper-like Yorkshires!my girls left half of there's,saying at best the food was lukewarm.we couldn't wait to get out of there!!

Went today with my partner we ordered drinks and meat and potatoe pie wkth chips n peas.after we ordered we went to sit down with our drinks a while after waitress came over and said was no pie do we want something elz we wished we had not bothered but l had gammon my partner had burger with chill on it with chips a while again after she came bk to say they ad no chilli so he sed put owt in it it came with my dinner and she had put pulled pork on it she made bad choice ther asche doesnt like pulled pork but was willing to eat it,anyway he felt his chips and they were clot cold whereas mine was hot so he told he and she took it away then browt it back with hit chips.think my partner lost interest by then so have to say was a rubbish experience

Came here for sunday carvery, i have been a few times but this instant wasn't up to normal standards, The beef was so over cooked you couldn't really eat it is was so dry, there was no stuffing was told we would be brought some but never were, the veg had seen better days it was dried up due to being left only what i can presume under the lights for a long time, staff seem really uninterested walking around with long faces looking bored i got made to feel like i was an Inconvenience being there, I very much doubt that I will be coming again, will stick to the winter green in future

Shocking Experience. Ridiculous wait for food and when it arrives totally sub standard. Rude staff. Awful beer. This place has really gone down since the takeover. Not a patch on the ever improving Thirsty Flame. It's got a long way to go before I go back.

My friends and I have been to this venue quite a few times but this time was very disappointing. Short on staff but the ones who were there didn't seem to be bothered if they served us or not. They were busy chatting to other customers. (Regulars I think). The meal itself was quite bland and the dessert fridge looked as if the few portions of deserts there was had been there a while. Don't think we will be visiting again soon.

Have been a few times for the sunday carveries which are always nice and the conservatory is a nice place to sit to eat it with views of the golfcourse

Sunday lunch was less than average lumpy mash potatoes luke warm vegetables which looked far from fresh and appealing and roast potatoes that had been heavily coated with black pepper to the point of being unable to taste anything else but that in your mouth for a long time after,if this wasn't bad enough we then had to deal with a waiter with the worst customer service approach you could imagine ! Rude is an understatement

Firstly. .I NEVER COMPLAIN ANYWHERE. 2 female staff swearing having a conversation at end of bar.one was kitchen staff .2ndly group of people staying upstairs really loud using every strong profanity going...without being told to keep it downWe've visited many times in the past Before the menu downgraded in price..Table at side of us sent luke warm food to be microwaved...Our 2 steaks came outOne mouthful in, waiter came and asked if everything was okWe said yes....as we had had literally 1 mouthfulChips grease ridden ..but I was starving and was in a rush do ate them ..Peas like bullets, my mother left peas and chips...as cold and greasyI realised I'd literally got a plateful of gristle/sinew/fat ..had 2 mouthfuls that was ok...So when waiter came to remove plates..and realised how much was left, they asked if eveything was ok..I said no...She asked if I'd like to see the manager..and for the first time in my life I said yes...He came..waffled on about the "quality" butchers they use.. I demonstrated the meat wouldn't even cut due to the sinew. .. he said I should of sent it back...I explained it wasn't till too far into meal I actually realised how bad it was... he carried on telling me how great the butcher was...I picked up the T shaped lump of crap. .. And said "would you of ate that? " he put his head down and admitted " it doesn't look great does it" ... he took it to show the chef.Came back out and said do you want another... I said no...no time nowHe offered a free pudding. ..I said no thanks just came in for steak..He offered a free drink... no I replied.. we need to leave, we just called for tea..I then said what else can you offer...he said nothing, I've offered you a drink or free pudding. ..Disgraceful. .No wonder it's payment up front !!!!..I said I'd leave feedback on here...and I meant it...I only ever come on here to leave places good feedback.... not this time...

Very dissapointed with this Visit, We have dined here several times in the last few weeks and thought we will try a Sunday Carvery.Got off to a bad start they sat 5 of us on a Table for 4. next too a noisy family on the next table .we put our drinks on the Table and thought no room for our plates .Saw the staff seat 4 people on a table for 6 ,when 5 of us were cramped on a table for 4 ???Orded our food and went to carvery service was very slow only 1 server who was miserable and complaining about quitting ,the poor guy could not cope .Food was ok except the beef was very fatty and over cooked vegatables looked dryThey need a better system you get your meat then double back for your veg ,seemed very disorganised.Where we sat was very hot ,and very uncomfortable. We went to order our desert tryed to order 4 but they said we had only ordered 3 ,I was so hot ,i was ready to walk and said forget it.But after i explained to the bar staff how they had messed up .they looked back and saw their error ,we moved into the bar area away from the noisy family and the heat before i melted into a puddle to wait for our desert,then i went outside to cool down.Came back in and waited a while we were ready to walk when our deserts appearedThey were quite nice ,however by now we just wanted to leave ,Would I visit again ? Yes but not on a carvery day ,let me say when we have visited on non carvery days food and service have been excellant .I think they need more staff on carvery days and a better seving system ,crown carveries are an excellant example

Called in for Sunday lunch, first time I've eaten here. Pub is lovely inside. Staff were really helpful and friendly. We sat in the bar area and enjoyed the carvery. Good choice, well presented and tasty. Will definitely call in again

We stayed on a weekend was actually really nice, great service as we walked through the door, landlady was full of life We had a twin room which was lovely, clean warm an just perfect for us. Shower also worked a treat nice an hot, just how we like it. Would deffo booked again. Thanks guys.

We attended on a Sunday lunchtime which is naturally busy. However, we weren't seated, we were just told 'your table is round the corner'. We hadn't been before, so had no idea what the process was for ordering, and after waiting for 20 minutes ended up approaching the bar to be told you had to order there!The carvery was very good, and the deserts were fantastic - the food would get 5 stars, but the poor and slow service and lack of welcome and communication from staff made it a very mediocre visit.

Called in for lunch and was greeted warmly by the very helpful staff. Ordered a pint and a pulled pork sandwich which came with chunky chips and salad. Very short wait, more than enough on the plate and very tasty. Excellent value in a lovely pub. Will go back to try other items on the menu.

WE ate here @ teatime & had the 2 for £9.99 menu.We both had the homemade meat pie,which we found was the best we had tasted for a long time ! Would recommend The Fairways for tasty,good value food.

Upon entrance I was ignored by two members of staff, had to repeat myself twice to ask them for directions to the eating area.The menu was poor, based on microwave/fried items. Empty but service was slow. Tried serving my mother a chicken korma yet it was a vegetarian balti and myself the other way around. The lady had no idea what curry was in the bowl.Naan bread served with curry was solid (over microwaved) and the meal tasteless.Meat pie had undercooked pastry on top and was floating in watery gravy.Overall, terrible service and terrible food. Mcdonalds is just down the road, at least there you know what to expect and its cooked properly!

went to the fairways on sunday the 17th of may ,we were hungry after being out most of the day and called in on our journey home.We ordered two carveries and stood in line waiting to be served,the vegetable looked a bit tired but it was late in the afternoon and the staff were talking about another 21 covers and there not being enough to go round ,we were served and sat down to begin ,after a few mouthfuls my wife pulled a hair of about 12 inches in lenghth out of her mouth from the half swallowed mash potatos,as she pulled it she felt part of it break off down her throat ,she had to go straight to the toilet and was sick .She informed staff and handed over the hair ,i couldnt continue with my meal ,the staff seemed either nonplussed or indifferent,we got a sort of apology ,were told all the kitchen staff wore hair nets,and a refund of six pounds ninety nine pence ,who says customer service is dead

The look and the décor was modern,clean and nice.The music which was being played was too loud restricting conversation.The staff were friendly and efficient although no one stood out.We ordered steak which was tasteless.Another member in our party ordered fish which was under cooked.One of the people in our party had to wait 10 mins for their meal whilst the other people in our party on the same table had almost finished eating.Needless to say we will not be returning to eat again.

Excellent traditional Sunday lunch. The carvery has one of the the best selections of meat and vegetables in the area, all cooked to perfection. Different specials during the week at very reasonable prices. Great atmosphere and lovely location.

This is a pub hotel near to my son's house in Rotherham. I have been many years ago but it was run down and poor. Now it has been refurbished it looks like it is thriving again. It was very busy when we arrived but the staff were so pleasant. We had the Two Dine for £9.99 offer which was great value for money.It's tasty, unpretentious food, served with a smile, at a great "Yorkshire" price!

Visited Fairways today for early evening special menu choose a carvery @ £4.95 or 2 for £8 The meal was excellent Ham & Turkey was very tasty and cooked to perfection. the service was good with friendly staff a warm pleasant pub offering value for money

Went for Sunday dinner Had a lovely meal. The Carvery set up was one of the best I have seen for selection of Meets / veg and good value for money. Also noticed different theme nights for food going to Try fish Friday next time

Always have a good experience at the fairways. The value is second to none and the food is always very good for the money. Never had a complaint yet! Great looking, good atmosphere with excellent theme nights (fish, grill, pie, curry and carvery nights). Good range of beers too - nice to get away from the generic carling and fosters for a change!

So this was our families first time out for Christmas Dinner ever. The total cost was £270 for 6 of us. When we arrived the tables were dressed lovely. We had a drink at bar first then decided to go to our table. There was a very festive atmosphere & the restaurant started to fill up. Our starters were served as were our desserts to the table which were good portions. Our main course was a Carvery & there was so much to choose from. The portions of meat were very generous as was the extras. The service was swift & friendly. All in all a fantastic Christmas dinner with good service. Thanks to everybody at The Fairways & well done.

Went with work for a Christmas meal. I had a carvery which was really nice. The beer and food were good and the staff very friendly and helpful.

Came with 10 friends to eat last night. Small area for dining but it is separate from the pub atmosphere for a few hours in the evening by folding removable doors. Girl taking orders didn't place one starter - everyone else served. No last starter arrived then told she hadn't placed it. Too late as all others finished eating starter. My deep fried camonbert was lovely though small portion. 10 steaks ordered (Saturday night IS Steak night) no sirloin available at 8pm. No chicken only rump. Cremated black burnt thin tasteless rump instead of well done. One main steak arrived after we had nearly eaten our main meals. Very disappointed. No apology. Pub area busy and noisy once separating doors removed later in the evening. Need to improve service, cooking and customer service too.

Three of us visited in the evening.The food was very average.Apparently its under new management but it will be a long time before we visit again

A large family group and friends booked the carvery for a weekday lunch.They have an offer of 2 carvery meals for £6.99 which is very good value. Turkey, pork and beef and the usual trimmings. Staff were very attentive.

After reading the reviews on here we took the in laws for Sunday Lunch and I was so disappointed. The staff are very inefficient and we found some to be very stand offish. I had to ask for some cutlery twice as they seated at a table that hadn't been wiped or reset yet. The carvery was nice and had plenty of different veg but as we came at 4.30 there was only two meats left (but we did go late on so far enough) but the next downfall was after we had eaten which was 5.05ish I asked if we could order some puddings and was told by the waitress who cleared our plates that it was too late as they stopped serving at 5. Perhaps I'm being grumpy but I didn't see it as a huge issue to take out two slices of cake from the cake fridge that was stood in the restaurant practically opposite us! Some of the staff are the downfall we found as they all seem to be stood around chatting while people sit with empty platesin front of them and uncleared tables. Shame really as the food wasn't bad at all.

We went here for lunch last week with friends. It was very good value at £6.99 for two meals. I had the meat and potato pie which had enormous chunks of meat in it. There was a very good selection of vegetables and my friends had the carvery. The meat was lovely and not at all dry. The staff were friendly and pleasant and did not rush us with our meals. We have eaten here for the occasional family meal. Again there is a very good selection on the menu and the price is very reasonable. Definitely will go back.

We go in here for quiz on a thursday night, its all done on remote control and what a load of rubbish. Go back to a real quiz with pen and paper.

Carvery on Wednesday is 2 for £8. Great value and ok food. Only real thing I could say is that it could do with a bit more flavour. Drinks good value and staff really friendly. Otherwise would visit again.

called in for the pie night and it was exceptional.plenty of variety and the food was very hot.will go again and also try one of their other speciality nights

We paid £39.95 for a twin en-suite room with breakfast included. We were warmly greeted by the staff and escorted to our room. Breakfast was actually self-serve in the room. We had two individual boxes of cereal, two juice cartons and the usual coffee/tea/sugar/biscuit selection. There was a small fridge on the landing next to the rooms which contained milk cartons and fruit, also a part of the breakfast on offer. This was fine considering the price. The room was modern, clean and with enough space for us and our belongings. An added bonus was sky tv. In the wardrobe was an iron and ironing board. There was however no hairdryer, which normally is not a problem as I invariably take my own, except on this occasion. It wasn't a total disaster as I had brought my heated rollers - phew. I couldn't figure out how to get the water in the shower hot enough, but perhaps that was my fault. We sampled the 2 for £10 menu which was delicious. The only downside was that we had noisy neighbours in the room next door. Very inconsiderate people, but not the fault of the hotel. It's situated 2.4 miles from the Sheffield Arena which was our reason for staying - Black Sabbath played a great gig. If you intend to travel into Sheffield or anywhere else for that matter via taxi do book ahead for your return journey as the local taxi drivers will take your eyes out. We did book ahead but after our gig many fans were having terrible problems getting a taxi for a reasonable price. They were trying to charge £20 to take fans only a couple of miles. My true rating would be Good, rather than Average or Very Good.

I recently went here for a meal with my parents and my 3year old son. Firstly I asked if I could swop the chips on my meal too jacket potato's too be told they don't do jackets and there wasn't another alternative. We then had too wait over half an hour for our meals (2gammon, 1 steak pie and one children's meal), in the time they fetched us someone else's meal, and proceeded too fetch out meals too people who had ordered after us. When they finally fetched out our meals, majority of my "chips" were burnt and both gammon were burnt, my father had ordered his meal without pea's due too been allergic too them and they had put peas on.In the menu, it says that children's meal include free icecream, we waited 10-15minutes after we had finished for the icecream my son was looking forward too...this never came, and staff seemed too be avoiding our table, I ended up talking my son round into having a mcflurry on our way home. Staff seemed more concerned about the larger groups/business people.

We stayed here for the night as it was my works christmas party at the Holiday Inn which is just around the corner. The room was half of the price of the Holiday inn.We were greeted by a lovely receptionist who showed us to our room. The room was spacious, clean and modern with lovely comfy beds and sky tv.We would recommend a stay here anytime as we could not fault it and will defiantly staying again.

We have just spent the weekend at The Fairways Hotel at a very good price. The rooms were very clean and modern. the entertainments was also great. We had the Carvery on the Sunday which was very nice and would highly recommend. The staff were very polite and helpful at all times. We will definitely be stopping again. Thank you for everything. Just spent three nights at The Fairways at a ridiculously low price per night. The rooms are clean, comfortable and despite what the previous reviewer stated we couldn't hear any noise from the bar at all.The staff were very helpful and understanding both on the phone from NZ and in person. We used the place as a base from which to visit family and unfortunately didn't get an opportunity to sample the food which comes highly recommended, especially pie night.Wouldn't hesitate booking again. Room looked ok, but was really annoyed to be told on arrival there was a dj playing till 12 pm downstairs! This would be fine but we heard everything till almost 1. The food was a good price in the restaurant but nothing special. The inclusive breakfast included 2 cereal bars and 2 cartons of cereal from a multipack which was in room.

Fantastic carvery. Everything looked and tasted amazing a real credit to the chefs. Nice to see head chef making sure everything was spot on and it worked. My hubby said who ever made the gravy needs to bottle it and sell it. Took a while to be seated as was very busy so next time we will be booking.
