went here the other day and it was absolutely disgusting. staff were rude and managers were worse. food was awful and the whole time i just heard yelling from the kitchen. this place just needs to give up.

Good great hotel room was great also food was mid because the burger was dry and they have great drinks I saw someone go into a new room idk if they might be having it done up so great also they are apparently having a icream paella instead off the kids in kids in was great with kids when I asked them if they in joyed it the said they wanted to come her again

Managers are very unprofessional when speaking to a manager she was rude to me and laughed at me. All waiters look young, tired and fed up. The place is dirty the dust made me feel ill. Waited 50 mins for food for it to come cold. Never coming here again very disappointed

Location of hotel is ok for a overnighter as good parking and access to town Gernerally the Hotel dated but fairly clean . Male member of staff very helpful sorting issue with TV. Bedroom was OK ,bedding and shower very clean. Handles broken on windows very differcult to close. The reason we have scored poor was the breakfast. We paid as part of the room deal . We had the continental. Which consisted of cereal. Crosaint, strawberry or toffee yogurt. Fruit choice of kiwi . Banana apple grapes and orange was just whole fruits 'dumped'on a plate. There were no meats or other pastries etc which is expected in a continental breakfast The only choice of bread for toast was from a slice loaf still in the bag. Only milk was semi skimmed in its 4 pint plastic bottle. To be honest, it very disappointing 😞

Good pub with lots of space, clean, fresh looking. Staff, polite, friendly and helpful. Food is about the average cost anywhere ATM and good portions.

Attended for a surprise 40th birthday meal with my family. The food was terrible!!! Half of us ordered burgers which can with chips covered in grease and they were not edible! Other half ordered carvery, the veg was rock hard, meat was extremely tough and unable to be cut up. Requested that the meat be exchanged which they did but when we mentioned the chips were greasy we were told that we were the first to complain. The staff were rude about it, we may have been the first to complain but doesn’t mean that we were wrong. Definitely will not eat there again. Save your money people and find somewhere better with staff that listen.

We hadn’t been for a while but we had been regular visitors in the last few years. Lunchtime seniors menu. Which actually would be better named small bite menu but that’s by the way. We were very disappointed. The gammon was more bacon than gammon and the fish more goldfish than cod. Lots of chips presumably to make up for the lack of meat and fish. We won’t be returning for a while again if at all.

Absolutely disgusting went to have a family meal with kids when I went to the bar the girl took my friends order then when it came to take mine I began ordering and she walked off no apologises or anything to deal with something else that was nothing to do with her so rude!!!!! Came back and said what do you want no apologies or anything ordered my food sat down she then came over said sorry no beef you need to order something else and come to bar to pay difference which I pointed out they shouldn't advertise it on a big board when you come in if they didn't have it! My friend asked if she could have a well done steak she said ill check disappeared for another 15 mins came back got my order wrong again spoke to manager just as rude nikki! Said she would have a word they came told me there would be a £10 difference if I wanted another meal by the way me and my friend ordered and paid separate I ended up going to the bar and cancelling our meals because the kids meals had come out already and we were told ours were being held till we paid difference!!!!! Would never go for food again!!!!!

Terrible service, ordered starters and mains, it took 45 minutes for starters to come and drinks hadn’t been served yet, had to inform a member of staff our drinks hadn’t arrived, then waited another hour for food, one meal arrived but second never arrived. Questioned at the bar and told they thought the meal had been served, no apologies, no helpful response.

We took our 4 year granddaughter for a meal and a play, big mistake! The play area was dark, dirty and smelled heavily of urine; the toys were all broken or had parts missing and none of the children in there were supervised, we were the only adults. Our granddaughter asked to leave after about 15 minutes because she was bored and she didn’t like the smell. The pub/restaurant was dirty, the floors were sticky, and judging by the state of the tables I’m guessing they’d been cleaned with a dirty rag; discarded plates and food were stacked up on other tables, and the staff just didn’t have a clue. I felt dirty just sitting there but our granddaughter was hungry so we ordered what turned out to be overpriced and substandard food. My husband’s gammon was more like thick bacon and tasted ‘piggy’, my Cajun chicken breast was in reality half a breast and like cardboard, our granddaughter’s pizza was dry and lacking topping and her garlic bread (from the children’s menu) was so strong, even my garlic loving husband couldn’t eat it. What bothered me the most was that her food was served after ours and her plates were so hot she could have easily burned herself: to be fair they did give a warning about it but who on earth would serve food to a 4 year old on a plate so hot? We were asked how our food was and when I said we were disappointed and wouldn’t return, all we received in return was a disinterested shrug. Clearly this place doesn’t care, they’re probably used to the feedback. Needless to say we won’t be back and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

Been a few times and mainly been good over the years, went today and spent almost £40 on a couple of meals. My wife is egg intolerant so I ordered her a mixed grill and said no egg....the bar staff said it doesn't include egg....it came with an egg on, the server was lovely and very apologetic so we just took it off the plate. The mixed grill was bland, the steak was very fatty so my wife left 3/4 of it. I ordered bangers n mash, the potato was really dry. (Think it was powdered potato) the peas were from a tin.....won't ever revisit as it was really poor and obviously staff are not trained about food intolerance.....this could be fatal one day...

Please do not get married here , avoid with all costs , the room was freezing, the food was disgusting a wouldn’t feed it to my dog. They didn’t serve our toasting drinks , to get a refund it took weeks. We got married here on the 18th of December 2022 and it’s took a full year to write this review. Claire the wedding planner was lovely and did what she could however it wasn’t brill as it was down to the venue. The rooms are all run down and grotty , if you want a memorable day please avoid this venue. Marc Moran

Went for Xmas celebration with 29 work colleagues on Saturday 9th Dec at the Bluebell Suite . Paid over £30.00 for a three course meal which was totally inedible. Meal was booked for 7.30 pm and the starter arrived at 9.11pm. Main meal arrived 9.40pm with what i can only describe as a boil in the bag meal. The plates were red hot with the food luke warm and unedible. The dessert arrived on our table as we were leaving which was 10.45pm. The venue in my opinion was overbooked, understaffed, which lead to lots of errors which in turn ruined our special evening. One of the other parties started fighting which added to the misery of our night as there didn't appear to be any senior management to deal with the situation .

Lovely place to have a meal. Food great and reasonably priced. Check out the chips. Fantastic. Will certainly be returning!!!

The staff are special. I think they have 1 brain cell between them all. Bar service very very slow. The place is really dirty and on the last day we went staff weren’t trained. All on all, really poor quality place. If you can, please avoid coming.

Order rump steak medium well, came out medium rare, they just re cooked same steak, also no taste. Other order was spare ribs. This had little taste again, no sauce and came with just two onion rings. The standard here is wetherspoons with a third higher price tag on the food.

Check in was good, staff member was friendly. The room was pretty much as expected, standard but had everything we needed. During the night a washing machine was on the go and kept us awake. We reported this to the assistant manager Amy who dealt with this situation amazingly. Amy exuded exceptional customer service and couldn’t apologise enough which were extremely grateful for. Breakfast was really nice, everything was fresh and tasty, thanks.

Kids inn I’ve came here 5 times now on Sundays and the woman who works their allows a boy (child) to use the staff keys and unlock all the machines and play with the music and sit behind staff desk, I find this absolutely disgusting as the other children are not allowed.. also he goes running about the play area with the keys and climbs on the desk and sits on machines and shows other kids how to open the machine with their hands (as a few faulty) needs changing ASAP

Very warm welcome from friendly staff. Nice selection of food available. The four of us ordered and the food arrived after a short wait and was piping hot. There was nothing with the food or service to complain about. We would visit again when in the area.

Visited on a Sunday with family members. There was a queue at the bar even when it was quiet but most staff were pleasant and help. Ran out of food at 13:30 and although we’d ordered and paid they then had to come and ask us what we wanted again. When the food did arrive it was poor quality and lukewarm, just chucked on the plate. The play area is dated and unclean. Will not return.

Terrible Terrible service here yesterday 26/3/23 large family get together 17 adults two teens 6kids ,14 had carvery which they advised to get as soon as possible before the meat ran out this was 2pm, we were told other meals would be 20 minutes , after about 10 minutes we went for carverys, soggy veg deffinatly not fresh! Not sure what the roast potatoes were they deffinatly had not seen an oven, after 1hour 20 minutes the other meals had still not turned up, so we went to ask how much longer asxwe had all finished ours, just a blunt it can't be helped its a big order!! and told we should have waited to get the carvery, after initially been told to get carvery ASAP before it runs out! Manager was plain rude informed her we would leave a poor review ,she just said do it then, awful tasteless lukewarm food ,will not eat here again ,avoid

Very rarely review pub meals despite frequently eating out. Not been to the Fairway for years after a poor meal, they’ve excelled themselves as the worst meal out ever. Pre-booked table for 12 plus a baby. Arrived to find 11 chairs and 1 toddler seat. Draught beers had a small selection for Barnsley, Guinness was one of those but they were selling cans only. Teenager had drunk most of her Pepsi before another of our party noticed her glass was cracked from top to more than halfway down in a large fat finger shape. The manager claimed the staff knew to check glasses, well one certainly did not. When booking at a pub serving carvery meals on a Sunday, it is perfectly reasonable to expect the carvery to be open. In the very least a courtesy call giving you an option to cancel is good customer service. Faced with the more expensive menu we made our choices and off to order we went in smaller groups. Having processed and taken payment for some orders they then informed us they had also run out of surf and turf, 8oz rump steak, peppercorn sauce and homemade beef & ale pie. Table was cleaned but still sticky. Only forks and serviettes were set up before the meal. Never seen this at any other pub and assumed it was so they could bring out the correct knife with the meal. No, they served several of our meals with no sign of any knives, I had to ask them to bring the basic of cutlery. The food itself makes me wonder how they can have a license. Scampi was returned for re-heating as it was too cold and they never brought the lemon as stated on the menu. Numerous other meals were not returned despite not being of the required temperature for heating cooked food in a microwave, eg chicken tikka had warm and cold spots. Garlic bread was not crispy on the outside, suggesting it was microwaved from frozen. Bangers & Mash returned for the crispy onions adding, uncrispy onions were then added. Smothered in gravy = 2 thimbles full. Chicken tikka looked to have been placed in one dish then half of it moved into a 2nd meal. Twice they brought another mixed grill that we had not ordered. The condiments requested were in sachets, the type you really need some scissors or sharp knife to open and by the time we could get them open our food was even colder. Cumberland sausage is made from chopped pork not the minced sausage served, okay my dog was happy with hers hence the one star.

Just had a lovely meals out with the family. The food was excellent and the service was really good, all the meals arrived at the same time. When I read the reviews I was apprehensive about going but I was impressed and from my experience I would recommend.

Was spending few nights in the area. Used here for meals. But the food was awful. This place used to be good but not anymore. Won’t be using here anymore for food whilst in area. Will be finding somewhere else. For a family of 4. It’s over £40 for meals. Not worth it.

Just had a family meal as a party of 5, restaurant not too busy lots of free tables. Ordered at bar 5 main meals and drinks. Waited 20 mins then 3 meals arrived, we stated eating and were half way through, the other two meals still hadn’t arrived. Went to ask a server who said she would find out for me, she never returned and meals arrived 10 mins later no apologies and told its not their fault because they are really busy! Server then walked away, no smile or offer of condiments. Majority of food ok but chicken kebab was very dry and no sauce or pitta bread as described in menu. My view is that any restaurant should be able to serve adequately the people who are seated at tables to a satisfactory level and that all meals arrive at the same time and not tell them they are too busy!! The restaurant was fairly busy but not full during our visit.

Absolutely terrible. Staff are so rude ordered sizzling fajitas they arrived cold obviously not sizzling. Went to take them back and "abby" the barmaid said obviously they only sizzle for a while They were clap cold. Brought us "sizzling" fajitas finally and slammed them down on the table in temper. I went with two others as our usual place to eat out was booked up; we hadn’t eaten here in over 3 years and thought that it was worth a try. From ordering to our starters arriving it took over an hour, the restaurant wasn’t even busy; and it was late. When they arrived two were hot, the other was only just warm.The mains arrived, poorly cooked and poorly presented. I had the Calzone and it was practically empty with no filling and was dosed in what o could only call tomato purée. This was over powering and I was unable to finish my food. My friends also left substantial amounts. The service was incredibly poor, the only time we saw any member of staff was whilst we were being served, they never came to clear the plates or up sell drinks, apologise for waiting etc.The drinks we had were rather expensive peronis, of which they arrived flat and were rather disappointing.In short, I would say you get what you pay for, but the experience I had was below what I expected when the rather expensive bill was paid. I would not recommend this to anybody I know.

Excellent service. Nice good sized rooms. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is excellent and great prices. Looking forward to strying again next year.

Living local to the Fairway we decided to try the restaurant again as we hadn't been for over 12mth Maxine had the soup which she enjoyed followed by scampi salad and chips I had the all day breakfast which I enjoyed I had also order apple pie and custard I waited approximately 15mins then went to remind them also telling them I would take it home to eat as I would be late for a meeting after about 10 mins it was delivered to wrong table

Always a good meal here, ideal for kids with the play area too. Only downside is the food never comes out al together, always one person in the party sat waiting. Quality of food is good, clean and nice staff

I don't usually write reviews but on this occasion I feel it necessary. We had 5 adult meals and 1 child's meal. The quality of the food was very poor. The fish was obviously frozen and when cooked had become dry and chewy. The vegetables tasted like they'd been boiled for far too long then reheated. Come on Fairways, this isn't a complex menu. I wouldn't eat here again and certainly wouldn't recommend it

We tend to go a lunch time through the week and take advantage of the two for one food offer. Decent quality food in pleasant surroundings.

Absolute rip off will not b going again - paid £11.99 for a lasagne we didn’t want the two for one saver meals to be told that portion sizes are exactly the same - for £5 more you don’t get extra salad or chips included or even an extra piece of garlic bread - manager not interested

Our first visit was early July and the food was very good there is plenty of choice and the dessert menu is excellent with very reasonable prices, the service is very good we came for lunch the first time not too busy second time was in the evening a little bit busier but still the same quality of food.

Family get together for a weekend wedding. Rooms are pretty standardised, but clean and comfortable. Receptionist was lovely and welcoming as were all the staff we met. Good location and easy to find with ample free parking. Breakfast was hit and miss, with the Saturday not as good as the Sunday, not sure how that happened?? Only gripe, and not being picky, was that the bar closed at 11, even for residents, which was a shame as most of us didn't arrive on the Friday night until 10 ish, so it didn't give us much time to get together over a couple of drinks before it was time to go to bed! Still, it was pleasant and I would try to arrive earlier if I could if I ever stayed there again, or book into the rather more resident friendly Holiday Inn down the road if I couldn't!

We would like to thank Wedding Planners Lauren and Sam for making our Wedding day very special. Nothing was too much trouble and everything went to plan .The food was excellent all the staff we're brilliant no problems recommending the Bluebell or the Fairway fabulous weekend. Went for a family get together this Saturday and must say was pleasantly surprised, we had a lovely afternoon there few drinks and food, plenty to choose from, didn't expect too much as it was 2 for 1 so only cost us £12 but it was really very nice, I had calazone pizza,my partner had fish n chips, my pizzas so nice soft dough,fresh and very tasty, my partners chips were so tasty too, others had salad, waffles etc. And all said it was really nice and very good value for money. There is a good atmosphere there and the staff are really nice too. We will definitely eat there again. I do how ever still think that the children's play area could do with a little re-furb but would still reccomend this place for familys.

I called in the other day, it was busy, but service was quick, I enjoyed only a drink on this occasion, but the food other guests were eating look lovely.

Not anymore we were taken to our table that was mucky seats as well had to ask for it cleaning also had to keep asking for mucky plates to be removed as well as no one seemed interested even had to ask for cutlery as table was not set up for a three course meal.

Eat here most weeks. Lovely menu and food. Children's menu very good. Cant fault anything. My favourite local eatery.

Very pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. Good choices. Carvery was very nice and plentiful. Very child friendly.

We booked the executive room as l am disabled and there was seating area to the room where l could be comfortable as l don't sleep very well everything about this room was shabby and old dirty carpet paint off the walls very old uncomfortable room we were freezing and the bathroom was so cold we didn't use the spa bath the floor was so uneven l was afraid l would fall the room had an unpleasant smell could have come from the dirty carpet we did report our concerns but all thay said was sorry thay did not offer us a different room and as l have been too ill to stay in a hotel for 5 years you can understand our disappointment l would not recommend this hotel we were expecting a executive room with a certain standards but this room failed us all together

Food is spot on and they have my favorite pint of Pernoni. Portions are a good size and that makes a change from nearby places. We will be returning for sure.

Myself & my hubby stayed here on the 26th January, I was a little dubious after reading some of the reviews.

I attended the kid's area today for a prebooked birthday party for my friends 5 year old and I would 100% recommend that you DO NOT book a party here!! The staff were rude and were making remarks about us within earshot, one comment was that we were taking the p*ss time-wise, we were outside the pub at 5:12 pm the party was booked 3-5 pm.

They do lovely 2for1deals most days. The food is really good too. The drinks are reasonable. The environment is pleasant and always clean and tidy .

January 2nd went in with my family the place was infested with flys ..dead ones in my food .my grandson had 5 crawling about in his salad. Landing on us all .staff were aware there was a problem. They should have closed till it was sorted9
