My Granddaughter and I took part in the Macaron Masterclass earlier this month and enjoyed every minute of it! Marie was absolutely lovely, very knowledgeable and most importantly patient! As a macaron making novice I didn't expect to get particularly good results, however with Marie's step by step easy to understand instructions and feedback my Granddaughter and I came away with lots (and I mean lots), of fabulous macarons. A fantastic class - highly recommend.

Came here to learn how to make Macarons. The class was fun and informative and prepped me with all I needed to learn how to make these pesky little things. Marie was a joy to have as a teacher. She was welcoming (especially to this kitchen newbie), knowledgable and quite clearly a master of her craft. Thank you for a great class!

The macaron workshop with Emma certainly was a masterclass. I loved it. She expertly made sure we all knew exactly what we were doing and gave us the confidence to go away and make our own. Everything was provided, H&S explained immediately, even how waste products ie egg yokes, larger ground almond, are given to other local businesses to use. I am never confident with baking/cooking but I so enjoyed myself and really have enjoyed the macarons me and my fiance made. We both have already recommended it to others. Thanks for the perfect experience

Marie and Emma were a pleasure to work with. They delivered a macaroon workshop for one of our events and we worked together to find the best solutions in terms of branding and logistics. They worked with great professionalism. Everything was impeccable on the day and the event run smoothly. The macaroon were delicious.

English Rose Bakery's vegan macarons are an absolute delight! As a repeat customer, I recently ordered them for a friend who was thrilled. As a baker herself, she's struggled with vegan macarons, but ERB nailed it. From prompt delivery to beautiful packaging, every detail was perfect. With Marie and Emma providing excellent customer service, ensuring a seamless ordering experience from start to finish, ERB has become my favourite place to impress friends with gifts, especially with their delicious vegan macarons. Highly recommended – I'll definitely be ordering more!

The ladies at the English Rose Bakery made some extremely delicious macarons for my daughter’s wedding. We had a cake but we needed a gluten free option that also catered for vegans. The macarons we chose were fantastic and tasted delicious. They didn’t last long. Everyone said they were lovely. Thanks ladies, I’m sure we will be back.

Attended the Macaron Masterclass - what fun time we had and learnt so much. The class was very well arranged with a demonstration followed by our own attempts. Emma was an excellent host and teacher and I highly recommend the class. Thank you Emma for a super afternoon.

THANK YOU Emma for teaching us how to decorate a drip cake yesterday. I’ve waited quite a while to get on this course and was definitely not disappointed. The group was small enabling the very, very talented Emma to give individual tuition when needed. The relaxed atmosphere with friendly, like minded people giving each other encouragement was a lovely way to spend a Sunday. The results pretty amazing for a first attempt thanks to Emma and much praise given back home. Excellent day THANK YOU!

Bought for me by my husband as a Christmas gift, this fulfilled a wish I had had for a long time, to make macarons. The classroom is small, but the group is kept small & intimate. Emma, our teacher for the day, was very friendly. She showed us how to make macarons, before we made our own. She gave us tips & advise on what can go wrong & how to avoid it. Then she took us step by step through making our own & all 6 of us successfully made our macarons. However, the class did not end there. We then filled & decorated them. We were like children at a painting class. It was great fun. Lots of ideas & playing with artistic licence. At the end of the class we got to take home all the macarons we'd made in the lesson. Everything is provided, from aprons to borrow, ingredient, tools to use & all the decorations. We even had a brew made for us. We couldn't have asked for more. She even told us that when we try to make them at home after, if we have any problems or questions, we can email them & they will try to tell us what we need to know. I would fully recommend this class to anyone who likes macarons. Tips: Use the disposable gloves provided before decorating. It took at least a week for the food dye to come off my fingers.

After spending a large part of the lock down trying unsuccessfully to perfect the art of macrons I went to one of Emma’s macaron classes. The 3 ½ hour course took us through the various stages of preparation, highlighting the important points to note, and pitfalls to avoid. Then it was our chance to try and amazingly we all succeeded under the watchful guidance of Emma. You also get the chance to fill, decorate and then sample the macarons. Great fun and very educational plus you get to take home boxes of macarons. Highly recommended.

Fabulous Night! I was with a large party of colleagues and friends and we had the most fantastic service, food and drinks all evening. We were looked after by the amazing staff and the atmosphere was just perfect. I would highly recommend the venue for it’s great food, lovely cocktails and the care and vibe created by the staff - Angela and Anna are just amazing. We will definitely be returning in the future!

For a small restaurant out in the suburbs, there’s ambitious cooking going on here. Food is by way of a shortish tasting menu and, at its centre, is the aptly named “Core Menu”. That runs to six courses (they count bread as one of them) plus a couple of snacks to start and sweets with your coffee, priced keenly at £55. There’s a shorter, cheaper version and, also , a longer more expensive one. And they can also tweakr them into a gluten free version, shellfish free version and a vegetarian (but not vegan) version. We had the core version last time and that’s what we ordered again – of course,, the dishes have been seasonally adjusted since we were here in the spring and were all completely different. Those snacks are a cracking way to start. A single bite version of “Nan’s cheese & onion pie” and a deep fried “doughnut” of soft pulled belly pork. I’d have happily eaten a bucket load of the latter. And then on to the bread course. There’s a mini truffle flavoured loaf for each of us, with butter and chicken liver parfait for slathering over. And a little bowl of chicken soup for sipping or dipping (both work). Cubes of roasted (?) smoked celeriac sat in a puddle of a tasty sauce, along with cubes and thin strips of pear and a dab of what I think was a tarragon puree. I thought it a tad too sweet but nice enough. Coley is a very sustainable fish and is an easy choice to replace cod. Here a small fillet is roasted and served along with a parsnip puree, cubes of bacon, and the almost celery like flavour of lovage. The final savoury course features chicken breast cooked with Brightside Brewery’s Mancunian IPA beer from 12 miles away in Radcliffe. Long cooked leg meat goes into a mini pie (yes, that’s two pies on the menu – this is Greater Manchester, after all). And very seasonal Jerusalem artichoke makes an appearance as crisps and puree. The first dessert, described as a palate cleanser, is a mix of plum sorbet, tangy yoghurt and mint caramel. It’s delicious – fetch me another bucket. But it’s not as delish as the second dessert – milk chocolate ganache, pistachio mousse, an orange cream and an orange flavoured cracker. We finished with good espresso . It came with a couple of sweet nibbles – a sharp raspberry jelly (too sharp to work well with coffee) and a coconut, chocolate fudge – think the flavours of Bounty. Service is smiley and very on the ball.
