We visited whilst staying at a nearby Premier Inn, after attending the Tatton Park Flower Show, not realising it was so close. The bistro is very cosy and has a great ambience. The service was excellent and the food even better. My wife had the steak and I had the seabass. I was delighted to see crème brûlée on the menu and it was perfect. I would definitely return if in the area and would highly recommend the restaurant.

Went to the Fat Loaf tonight with 3 generations of the same family. The food was fantastic all round with everyone happy with their choices. The restaurant has lovely ambience, and the staff are fantastic.

Possibly the best Sunday Roast in the area. Generous serving of meat, served pink (if desired). Great selection of craft beers and wines. Highly recommend.

Thank you Fat Loaf for a fabulous meal last night!. We shared starters, as Tapas. Every menu item was truly delicious. Lamb tacos, beef croquettes,, prawn and chorizo and chilli crab pasta. Topped off with creme brulee!!

Excellent meal last night. This restaurant is of a consistently high standard. We have been going since it opened 14 years ago. Always a nice welcome from Tim and his team. BJP

Had the steak and ale pie which was delicious. Decor is a little dated and a bit diy. It’s a nice place and I can see why it’s popular with the locals. I’d recommend what I ate - the pie and sticky toffee pudding. Mrs had the steak but was too well done for me.

Such a lovely place!! The staff were so friendly and professional. Very accommodating to us with our twins and large group. The food was outstanding and so delicious. The French onion soup was the best I’ve ever had. We will be back for sure!

The food was excellent. We started with the scallops followed by rib eye steak and sticky toffee pudding. Everything was excellent and the atmosphere was really good complemented by the customer service. This was our first time after moving into the area and we are already booking our next meal.

I have been here just 3 times but this was the best. I loved the atmosphere, the staff were lovely, helpful & professional. The meal was fabulous, I had fillet steak, and the dessert was amazing ... who'd have thought the humble Eccles Cake could be so exquisite. Fab! I hope the next visit will be soon! Been back 2 or 3 times since the above review, & still enjoying it. Tried the stuffed Oxtail this time.. very nice! Staff as bubbly as ever, great wine & beer selection too. Oh, & the Eccles Cake was back on.... love it. If I had to criticise , perhaps a few more things on the menu... but I'm not complaining !

Really enjoyed being back after not going to the restaurant for too many years. The staff were pleasant and got us seated quickly, service pleasant and efficient. Food was excellent and enjoyable. Look forward to returning in 2024. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice meal out.

Possibly the best restaurant in the Manchester area. Combines simple dishes (e.g. steak and fries, steak cooked to perfection and hand-cut fries, or a hearty but tasty minestrone) with more elaborate ones (my wife's prawns and nduja in a chickpea and chorizo sauce, or my beef shin Mexican style taco). Great wine list with unusual wines (our Hungarian Pinot Noir was excellent, and the presence of a Japanese Chardonnay intrigued me, but there are lots of more traditional wines). Reasonably priced, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, don't miss it if anywhere near Manchester.

Very pleasant Sunday Roast - food was top quality (including an amazing Cauliflower Cheese) with fast friendly service. Good choice of drinks and reasonably priced - will definitely be returning.

We didn't get a table the first time and now know why - excellent food/ wine and a hidden gem of a restaurant.

I had a fantastic dining experience recently! We started with a bottle of Carte Noire Picpoul de pinet to set the tone. For our starters, we enjoyed the Chermoula grilled mackerel fillet, served with gunpowder potatoes, spring onions, coriander, and chilies. The King prawn ceviche was another delightful choice, featuring a medley of tomato, lime, cucumber, coriander, guacamole, and crispy fried tortillas. Moving on to the mains, we savored the Orecchiette pasta with cavolo nero, ricotta, lemon, almonds, and parmesan. The Cod dish was equally impressive, with smashed eggplant, tomato & basil, peas, za'atar yogurt, and a garnish of fresh coriander. Finally, we indulged in dessert. The Chocolate pot with brandy-soaked prunes, raspberries, and a shortbread biscuit was a delightful treat. And the English strawberries paired beautifully with raspberry sorbet, smashed meringue, Chantilly cream, and a touch of prosecco. Overall, it was a memorable culinary experience with a perfect combination of flavors and textures. Highly recommended!

First visit. Sunday lunch. Doesn't look great next to Bargain Booze, but don't let that put you off. Arrived 1pm & just a few other customers. By 2pm the place was packed. Testimony to the quality of the food. One of the best roast beef dinners I can recall having. Perfect lemon sorbet to follow. Really friendly staff who were laid back in attitude but attentive in service. Great experience, thanks!

Food was ok. Ordered the fillet steak, disappointed with the chipstick fries. Why they can’t do proper chips for the price which is not cheap,ok if you get a decent meal. Staff pleasant ,would try again.

We've booked for dinner a couple of times in the last few weeks and on both occasions we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Only a smallish menu but the food is delicious and beautifully presented and the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend

We arrived tired ( too tired to eat) and thirsty and all that goes with it after a long day at my sons graduation which had been delayed by 90 minutes. The owners revived us with iced water and alcohol quickly. Food ordered and started to relax. The owners were very welcoming and attentive and nothing too much trouble for them. We soon realised that we were the only strangers there as everyone whom came thro the door was greeted by name - clearly a great omen if all the locals came here to eat. All our food was superb. The menu suited everyone. The sweets were divine. When we arrived we could have quite easily gone back to our hotel but it turned out to be the cherry on the cake on what will be a very memorable day for our family. Highly recommended. I can guarantee you won’t come away disappointed. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

Went for dinner and was massively impressed . Two of us had the pie and mash which was filled to the brim with top draw stewed steak . Our friends had the bavette steak which was expertly cooked to perfection . Great selection of canned beers topped off with wonderful , friendly , personable service . Very good value for money , food with wine and beers coming in at 116 pounds all in . Will most certainly return !

After a week's holiday in Devon, we decided to finish the holiday with a meal out at the Fat Loaf. Front of house, Tim & Kerry were on top form, great service with lots of smiles. Chefs Josh & Fin again cooked up top quality food. All in all, we had a super evening. Thanks guys, above & beyond ! 😎

Pooped in for a drink and some tapas. The food was amazing - tomato and nduja flatbread, salt cod croquettes, pigs in blankets and some schezan spiced crackers. All executed brilliantly together with friendly service and great wine list. NOT TO BEMISSED

Went to the Fat Loaf with a couple of friends Sat 17 Dec, for our 2nd Annual Christmas, "Do". : ) My starter was chicken livers on sourdough - absolutely lovely. Hope it stays on the menu. As it happened all four of us had the rump steak & for all it was spot on. Excellent food, good service & a jolly atmosphere made for a great night. Thanks to all the crew @ the Fat Loaf. Really lovely restaurant! My family and I were travelling through from Canada and I found this gem on google. Every bit as worth it as the reviewers say! We happened to be there on Sunday roast night. They squeezed all 6 of us in, yet we didn’t have a reso (probably a good idea here). Staff were all amazing and you could tell they care. This shone through with the food too!! 5 stars all around from each of us. Not a bad bite from the starters to dessert 👌🏼

We have been going here regularly for over 10 years and each time we go seems to surpass the last. Every time the service is great, staff are friendly and attentive and, most importantly, the food is sublime. The Eccles Cake in particular is something else

Third time visiting since moving to the area in June and will keep coming back, one of the best places I've found so far in Sale. They are always friendly & welcoming. Simple seasonal menu, delicious food always on point. Great for an evening meal with friends or family and they do a good Sunday roast too! 🍗👏

We have been meaning to try this for ages and the partner's parents came down and we made the decision to go. OMG why did we wait so long. Food was fabulous. It was a great evening all round and can definitely say we will not be leaving it so long next time. Totally recommend

First time at this restaurant last night. Very welcoming. Light airy place. Service was sharp. Food (from the main menu) was excellent. Plenty of beer options (I'm not a wine drinker) and the German pilsner I had was suitably chilled. In details, I had the prawn starter and the lamb rump. I was asked how I wanted the rump cooked (always a good sign). Both were the right sized portions. Highly recommended.
