A lovely traditional pub which allows you to consume fish and chips bought at the adjacent Mister Chips. Poor weather for July hence a welcoming log fire which was great.

To start with I want to say we absolutely love this pub , we come to whitby a couple of times a year and always spend most of our day / night here we have always been made more than welcome and have felt at home , but last night we went in and the bouncer called Ben was unnecessarily nasty !! Bearing in mine we are in out late 50s and never cause trouble !! Just because we had picked the dogs water bowl up to have a photo taken ( inside joke ) he came across was nasty and told us to leave !! Shame on you !! People go out to have fun.

Fantastic night’s stay. We were greeted by a friendly man behind the bar who showed us to our room. Our room (number 3) was adequate size with plenty of sockets to plug things in…not many rooms I have stayed in, always have lots of sockets! There were also a few clothes hangers and a few drawers too. We also got free water, crisps and wagon wheels. The bed was comfy and the shower was fab. There was an ironing board and an iron on the hallway and also extra toiletries too. The whole place was spotless and I would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you.

We have had the great fortune of living in Whitby for the past 9 months whilst renovations were taking place at our new house in West Yorkshire. The Endeavour has been our absolute favourite local during our stay. The staff are what make it so special, they are friendly and efficient and all very good at their jobs! The pub is a nice clean environment with great drinks too. Even better they provide condiments, and forks so that you can take in your own fish & chips and eat them with a drink out of the way of the predatory seagulls outside. The entertainment is spot on. Simma sings there on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. A great acoustic singer/ guitarist whose banter between songs (and sometimes during) is almost as good as his singing! We have now moved away but can't wait to be back when we visit Whitby in the near future.

Like people say, a proper pub. Fire was roaring both times we went in, so cosy and lovely. Dogs were welcome which was great for us. Also, although they don’t do hot food (they do do a great cheeseboard), you can buy fish and chips and bring it in - they even have cutlery and condiments over the fireplace you can use. Very friendly service both times, music at the weekends, good stuff.

We visited the endeavour as they advertised that they welcomed families and dogs and was able to bring in our own fish and chips! We couldn’t believe our luck as we were very thirsty and wanted somewhere proper to sit down and relax. We were greeted by a lovely friendly lady who showed us to our table. Then by the landlord who showed us the water bowl for the dog, they gave us ketchup for my sons chips and gave us all proper forks to eat our food with. The service was very warm and very attentive, we couldn't believe how every problem on our list was solved and it was a very refreshing change as having a dog and a 2 year old not many places welcome both. Please check these guys out!!

We read about this pub before our visit to Whitby for a few nights. It caught our attention was the fact that you could take your own 'fish and chips' in to eat. We went to check the Endeavour out the night before we planned our fish an chip night. True enough we could eat fish and chips in their pub.We went back the night after, got our table, had a couple of drinks then i went to a local fish shop and bought the four of us our tea. When i got back to the pub the staff had brought us some condiments and knives and forks. What lovely service we had. The pub was very well organised for Covid.

We visited The Endeavour in the last few days and enjoyed our afternoon in a great pub which offers a warm welcome...On entry your temperature is scanned, contact details taken, and hands sanitised, before you are shown to a table... service is via table service and staff are attentive and welcoming...There is plenty of space for social distancing, a grand roaring real fire, plus varied drinls opitions - especially if you like real ales or gins... the pub even lets you bring in your own fish & chips! I enjoyed a couple of pints of Brakspear and my wife a couple of glasses of wine... my pint coming in a proper pint pot with handle...The atmosphere & music was brilliant and we did not want to leave but had an evening meal booked... highly recommended and we will be back!

Temperature check, social distancing, through cleaning between guests, staff constantly using hand sanitiser... all absolutely true but I see a bunch of people have beaten me to it!So instead I'll concentrate what else is great about this place. It's nothing fancy, but what it is, is a proper traditional British pub. The owners and staff are very warm and friendly. No snootiness towards tourists (which I had elsewhere). Myself and family visit Whitby often and always pop in for a few drinks after today this will never happen again. Stood outside with my dog in the QUEUE which is not sign posted what way you are meant to stand waiting on 3 more members of my family who were across the road. People in FRONT went in and I continued to wait however moved to the other side as was blocking the path for by-passers. 2 RUDE men then decided they had got there first to which they had not and they knew this. Owner then came out telling people of his bad review on trip advisor so add this one it! The other 2 men then decided they got there first knowing they had not but I was out numbered and a woman so what chance did I have and they were allowed in. I understand times are tough and there is no way I would have said I got there first if I had not. The fact the other 2 men know and the man who cane outside obviously took their word as they were discussing previous bad reviews. Well hope they enjoyed! Never again will I visit here! Need a better system in place to avoid jumped up people doing this again. Awful. I await your reply Maria - as bragged about by owner. :)

Love the Endeavour. Great and changing selection of beers, amazing ambiance and friendly welcoming staff. Asthey don't serve hot food they even allow you to bring your own fish and chips in if you wish (and will buy a drink of course).

Friendly staff and great selection of beers. They allow you to bring in your fish and chips from elsewhere which we loved! Definitely will be back on our yearly Whitby visit.

A decent traditional boozer, with a reasonable selection of real ales on cask on the bar. Nothing fancy, and no "interesting" or challenging beers, just fairly boring stuff. But there's a good welcoming atmosphere, good banter etc. Worth a visit but not the best in Whitby.

This place does the best gins in whitby, no matter who you order from behind the bar they all get served to perfection. They have such a wide range of gins, and other drinks to. The atmosphere is lovely, with live music

They have 25 gins and do some gin cocktails but they also serve gluten free beer as well as a good range of standard beers. They have interesting bar snacks and these are mainly local foods. It is a friendly pub.

We come here regularly as drinkers, but it was lovely to stay over for once (as a birthday treat from hubby). The room was fantastic due to the lovely comfy bed, nice bathroom, tea (Yorkshire Tea, of course!), coffee, bottled water, fluffy towels, biscuits and no street noise from below. The room wasn't roasting hot, unlike some places as the thermostat is really easy to control.

The Endeavour is a very good, traditional pub with a distinct lean to the nautical side via Cook’s ship and the local RNLI. It’s a spacious and tidy pub, and when we were there the atmosphere was friendly and lively, with some live traditional music for entertainment.

We were attracted into the Endeavour for a quick pint by the lovely display flowers and lights outside the building, and we're not disappointed with the inside! There was a log fire burning and a low hum of contented conversation from the many customers, some of whom were tucking into takeaway fish and chips. No big screen, no loud music, just a happy warm atmosphere. We enjoyed an excellent pint of beer, served by the landlord himself, who by the way also happens to be a serving lifeboat man. So, brave and courageous as well as an excellent host. What's not to like?

I remember this from a misspent youth in Filey when it was known as The American Bar. It is out of the way and most trippers will miss it. That is probably why there were just four locals propping up tha bar when we walked in. They were aimiable enough and happy to share banter and a bit of mickey taking. A nice drop of beer on the bar too. This place won't be for everyone. You probably will find it a bit frosty unless you make the effort. But it's comfortable, has a good range of beers, and you probably won't struggle to find a seat.

Not very nice. Stunk of grease, everything was sticky including the laminated menus. The Smoo milkshake was horrible and still had lumps of powder in the bottom. I understand it's a typical old English greasy spoon cafe however there still has to be certain standards that need to be met, and this doesn't meet them at all.
