The Empire Restaurant in Cardiff

Very Tasty nice treat on a Friday Night even though butter chicken wasn’t on the menu I asked to oder it and it was amazing!

We have visited the Empire for many years and it never disappoints. This was our latest visit as a family. It is a truly fantastic Indian restaurant with an extensive menu which includes a variety of interesting and really tasty dishes. Without a doubt it is the best in the area. Always a great welcome from the Empire team. We’ll be back soon!

We’ve visited the Empire on a number of occasions as a family or, as in this visit, with friends. The staff are always welcoming and the food is excellent. Well presented and tasty. When there is a special occasion they even break out the ‘birthday cake’ We will return as we can be assured of a pleasant meal.

Great food, would definitely come here again. Best butter chicken I've ever had, and it's next to some great pubs. Great experience.

Fantastic curry as always, highly recommend asking for the butter chicken, have been coming for about 15 years now and this place has always been consistently the best indian restaurant in cardiff.

Very welcoming on arrival. Excellent food and excellent service. It was my daughter’s birthday and she was given a complimentary desert and present. Can’t wait to return.

Came here on New Year’s Eve. Despite not having a booking we did not wait long until we got a table. The food it self was very tasty, the venue was clean.

The food is always great however the service lately has been poor. The last three times I've rang for a takeaway (over the last 3 months) the same person answers and immediately asks me to wait. He doesn't return to the call for five minutes and laughing and chatting can be heard in the background and he then either he hangs up on me or answers another call and repeatedly asks me to wait. And then asks me to repeat myself constantly. It's disappointing as the food is always great but this service is really poor and annoying. Can you sort it out please.

Went here for a curry and the food was outstanding. Service was brilliant too and so friendly! They were so accommodating too, especially as we didn't have a booking on NYE.

A fantastic meal at Empire! I would fully recommend the Chicken Tikka Bhuna. Excellent service, and will be back again soon!

As usual the staff at empire always welcoming. Food beautiful with a great atmosphere. Come with the family all the time always get that great vibe when I come. Would defo recommend for large party’s and family gatherings.

We were in Cardiff for the Paul Heaton concert at Cardiff Castle, we arrived a day early, so took the opportunity to visit a good Indian Restaurant. A quick review on Trip Advisor threw up this gem of a restaurant. After reading reviews it was obviously very special. Starters consisted of the obligatory poppodoms and pickles, followed by onion bhajias and Bhuna prawn on puri all washed down with some ice cold Cobra. A real good start, to our night with wonderful tasting starters. For our main courses we went for Hariyali Chicken Masala and a chicken tikka mossala, pilau rice, mushroom Bhajia and a garlic nan bread. Absolutely fantastic food and a wonderful experience. Got to agree with the Trip Advisor comments and ratings, this Indian restaurant is spectacular. Many thanks to Sammy the Manager for his amazing hospitality. If we are ever in Cardiff in the future we will be visiting again.

Empire has been our go to takeaway curry house for years and I can’t believe we waited this long to visit the restaurant itself! We visited the restaurant on a Monday evening, with friends for my birthday celebration. Like always the food was nothing short of excellent, 100% the best Indian food in Cardiff! Very tasty and fresh! The atmosphere was great and the service was outstanding! Servers were extremely attentive and couldn’t do enough for you! My limoncello sorbet complete with sparkler was absolutely delicious and an amazing end to the meal and really made my birthday, they even gave me a present! This will always be our go-to Indian takeaway, but now I can’t wait to go back to the restaurant! Thank you for a lovely evening!

Lovely atmosphere, clean, beautiful fresh food, staff very friendly and they brought the meals out when we were ready, not rushed at all. 5*, we will definitely be returning.

Me and Rachel have just been for food for my birthday, and we felt we had to leave a review as soon as we got home. This place is really nice, very clean, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They all went above and beyond. This is the first time we have visited the Empire. Visited with friends, the staff were attentive and professional. The food was delicious, I had the Chilli Garlic Chicken, 2 of my friends had the Hyderabadi (?) and the other had the Vegetable Korma, everyone was pleased with their dishes and the rice & nans were freshly cooked. Will most definitely return.

A wonderfully quaint Indian restaurant nestled in the vibrant area of Penylan. Excellent service matched with delicious authentic Himilayan cuisine. A wonderful way to end a great day. A return will most definitely be on the cards!

I tried the Chicken Mahkari for the first time and they always say you remember your first time.. and this is certainly the case here.
