The Emerson Arms in Darlington

Absolute cracking pub, the view of the river out the back is lovely, can imagine it being a good sun trap! Only thing I wish it done was some pub grub food to accompany the beverages, doesn’t have to be fine dining but just some sort of food menu.

Went 4 nights of 7, staying locally. Great Pub with huge range of drinks, including a great Gin menu. Ordered a porn star martini cocktail on last night at £6.50. Price about right....but it came in pre mixed bottle!!! Asked the to see the bottle, and there was no mention of procecco on the ingredients label, and when I asked if its served with a shot was told...NO. Felt very cheated by this, and sorry for the staff who had to explain this. Bottle would have cost less than £3 for the landlord to buy...nice profit while leaving at least one customer....me...feeling very cheated.

This is a great bar with an excellent selection of gins. The young girl behind the bar was very polite, friendly and welcoming. We sat out the back while the sun was out in their fantastic beer garden/terrace with great views of the river. Looking forward to returning.

The bar was well stocked and the gin bar had one or two specialist Gins. The staff were not really friendly and when I tried banter the look nearly turned me to stone. It was a Friday night and when I asked about food they said no we can't be bothered. We had a drink, the Guiness was exceptional and we left in pursuit of food. A good drinking pub on the bank of the river but sadly lacking in the food dept as they could not be bothered!!!

The back bar, which used to be a bit of a social club look, has been refurbished into a lovely gin bar. The selection of gins is great, enjoyed overlooking the River Tees. What's not to like. Nice terrace out the back as well for sunny days.

Quircky, friendly and well stocked bar. Dont get fooled by the "any pub" look. Their gin menu is fantastic and the seats by the river a plus on a sunny day. If you are in the area this is a MUST!

Went there for a drink and was pleasantly surprised to discover they have an extensive selection of gins and craft beers! Lovely garden to sit in and overlook river Tees!

This pub is wonderful, it has an area to have drinks and watch sports on the tv but then they have a hidden area that has an extensive gin menu and is great for a group of friends to go to. the staff are lovely, knowledgable about the different gins and speciality tonics. I love it. It has wonderful views over the River Tees in the summer, I would highly recommend this place

The rear bar of the "Emmy" has a fantastic gin bar. Superb range of gins with all the right trimmings and tonics. Lovely decor and great views of the Tees and countryside. Not sure about the music though sometimes!

Best place around to go for a drink by the river. Especially for a gin lover! Beer garden backs on to the river and is lovely. Maybe a few cocktails & a small snack menu would be a nice little addition!

Great selection of drinks and the beer garden has a fantastic view over the river tees. Friendly place and the barmaid was great.

Estado aquí unas cuantas veces y me encanta el ambiente de la habitación de la parte trasera. Se juega buena música, sirve una gran selección de ginebras y cervezas y realmente no es como se esperaba. Yo diría que este es el mejor pub en el pueblo para venir y relajarse con una cerveza, no puedo esperar para el tiempo de recogida de jardín! Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

Wow, the drinks selection is amazing, such a wide range of gins and beers the leifmans fruitesse and sip moth London cup liqueur are sensational. Amazing staff, very friendly will definitely be back

Known the owner for many years, a warm welcome from both Tommy and Bev, bar staff are really friendly and helpful, we all ad the 2 course Sunday dinner, some had starters others had deserts, absolutely delicious home cooked food, prices spot on, service spot on as well, wouldn't go anywhere else for Sunday lunch!! Beautiful views in beer garden, and service with a smile ☺

Quality setting, best in the village of hurworth. We decided to go for a drink in the beer garden which overlooks the river tees. The views are fantastic and the drinks are reasonably priced, (cheapest in the village). We decided to have a meal, and so glad we did. They're cooked to perfection and are reasonably priced. We'll be eating and drinking in this place quite a bit. The owners, which we don't really know, seem to be trying hard to make a good pub into an excellent pub. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!
