Slightly disappointed on the 2 for £12.00 cocktail menu that you can't mix and the cocktails. But other than that drinks and cocktails were great

We usually go for breakfast a few doors down, but my wife suggested trying here for a change. First impression was good - friendly greeting from the waitress, and looks nice inside. Wife went for the full English breakfast and she said it was very tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Accompanied by a pot of tea and orange juice. I went for the avocado with poached eggs on toast and a latte. Unfortunately my avocado felt like it had been made earlier and kept in the fridge. This made the eggs and toast cold. However, it was very good and I did enjoy it. My latte was great - not bitter. The waitress was very polite, friendly and attentive. Excellent service. On the whole very, very good, and we will be returning again

Extensive menu lots to choose from. Service was excellent. Food was delicious didn’t mind waiting as everything was freshly made. Would recommend to anyone looking for breakfast or lunch. Good value for money. Excellent place to eat.

Have always come for coffee or cocktails for years. Always spot on. Staff fantastic....very friendly couldn't do more. Tried their new menu today and it did not disappoint, lovely food and will definitely be back.

Cozy bar with a good variety of drinks, would recommend to anyone, little chilly indoors sometimes but doesn't stop me going :-)

Lovely Sunday Lunch, worth a visit.

The breakfast is normally good but today it tasted like everything was deep fried and crispy. It is the first time I have crispy mushrooms and black pudding. I will need some convincing before I go back.

Never again £7.75 for a glass of wine. Daylight robbery even Dick Turpin wore a mask !! Always usually head here with friends but will now go to places equally as nice but better value for money

Beautiful Cocktails - for a party of 7 to walk in and order double cocktails every 15 minutes and to be able to get every single cocktail absolutely smashed out and tasting amazing is brill! Hats off to the gent making our cocktails! The cocktails kept us here instead of going elsewhere until closing time, if it opened later we would have stayed. Must be well over £150 spent

I didn't know the juniper tree had a menu for breakfast and lunch until my wife booked us a table at the weekend. Full English breakfast was spot on! Child had french toast, which, again, was great. Will definitely visit again. I think it was 18 pounds for 2 breakfasts and 2 hot drinks. Great value for money.

Aww such a shame that when we came today for a Mother’s Day meal it wasn’t up to the standard of a couple of weeks ago. You no longer put pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese and stuffing balls on the meal so it was rather pitiful looking. The meat tasted burnt and my dads was that tough he spat it out. I was raving about how good it was and was so so disappointed. There was 6 of us too and I felt so embarrassed. The cocktails were nice although not as strong as when we were last there. All in all very disappointed and I would no longer recommend.

Have eaten and drank here before. We love the fact that dogs are allowed in. Food is normally of a good standard. However today we waited over an hour for two sandwiches. When questioned the response was we have one chef in a small kitchen and he had a large party to cater for before us. The large party consisted of four people. Really really not good enough. No excuse for over an hours wait for a sandwich regardless of how small the kitchen.

We go in regular after a session in the gym. Nice staff. Chloe, Harry and the rest look after you. Canny coffee, full English is .....er...very filling. Note: Entertainment is provided by watching some dreadful parking in Grange Road.

Absolutely top class food and service as always. Will gladly come back for their breakfast deal... 2 breakfasts and 2 drinks for £16? You've got a repeat customer in me for sure! Note: I don't like black pudding or mushrooms so subbed them out 😜

I went with the family for a Sunday lunch, can fault the food and the service was excellent 👌🏽 only gripe is that they have high chairs for kids, but no kids cups/cutlery, so bring your own!

Only been in a few times and enjoyed the drinks but last night witnessed the owner throw out and bar couple of customers in a very unprofessional manner for having a dog on the sofa. The staff clearly had not said anything before hand the entire time they were in. For the owner to go touch the dog herself, whilst swearing at this couple was not a nice atmosphere to say the least. No apology to any customers who were still in for the behaviour, I'm surprised that the couple composed themselves as much as they did. Don't usually leave negative reviews but it made us drink our drinks quickly and leave.

I would just like to say how great the staff are. They're friendly, polite and very chatty, however the manager/owner is an absolute embarrassment to the place. On the window there is a sign dog friendly establishment, my wife and I go in for a couple of drinks most Friday's with our dog. Every time we go in the staff and fellow customer's are all over our dog. Tonight manager/owner asks us to have our dog off the couches, which we were obliging with, and finishing our drinks to which she came back to the table, and to use the term LOST IT is an understatement. She starts raising her voice, pointing her finger and went to grab our dog. we then left, to which she still carries on ranting to (I suspect family members) as we are walking in front of her. She was an absolute embarrassment to herself and her staff. Won't be going in again. Shame as staff are great

Wel what can I say. Usually love the place. Been coming every Friday tea time. We have also had breakfast and, Usually recommend it. With our dog for about 4 month. The staff so friendly. Usually our dog has no lead. Never complained about this. Well tonight. After having a couple of drinks. The woman owner came in. Screaming and shouting at us. N now we r barred because we stood up for our selves after her 👉 and Screaming in our face . When we were trying to be calm. Yet a boy she was with was stroking her before she came in . He never said anything. And then to walk away out in street calmly. She continued to scream out in street at us. Also shouting about it for the full walk down street. So sad that our once lovely after work drinks Have turned up like this. ! Wouldn't give one star for ownership. But can't do 0

I have never had a complaint about the Juniper Tree before. Food and staff always great. I went on Saturday with my daughter for birthday drinks. We looked at the drinks menu before ordering and chose a bottle of wine. When we paid it was £2.50 more for the bottle than the menu says. When I queried this the bar staff said the drinks menu was out of date. Surely these should be removed from the bar if this is the case or updated as I guess that it wasn't just the wine that was incorrectly priced

Too sweet Margarita and poor balance, lack of lime. Too much syrup in the two cocktails we had - disappointed.

3 stars at best for 2 cocktails. Too sweet and over-use of syrup; poor balance on mix; no real fruit; drinkable but wouldn't re-order Margarita lacked lime Passion-fruit Martini no Proscecco Both small glasses and low on ice

Absolutely amazing afternoon of cocktail making for my Mum's Birthday. Very relaxed and informal fun afternoon. Nothing was a problem and personal touches added. Couldn't have wished for more. Would definitely recommend.

Sunday lunch was possibly the best I've had, lots of meat, great selection of vegetables all cooked perfectly, reserve a table for 10% off also :)

Get there at 9am and despite being the first ones through he door, the 3 tables after us were fed and gone within an hour and still no food in front of me. Starting to get get a bit hangry at this point, when a couple walk in and end up with a breakfast in front of them within 10 minutes, STILL no food in front of me. Confused at this and a tad annoyed I asked the waitress why this was, only to be told “they’re the owners that’s why”. If you think that’s acceptable behaviour when you run a business then shame on you and I hope you don’t stare at all your customers with the same attitude you did this morning. Disgusting.

I hate to leave negative reviews, but I feel this is necessary to hopefully make the place take some accountability… 4 of us turned up at 9am for breakfast and we were the first ones there, followed by a group of lads. There was only one girl opening up and she looked rushed off her feet. Took a while to get drinks, and about half an hour after we sat down we got them. The group of lads got their breakfast, so we thought ours mustn’t be far behind. They ate, paid and left and straight after a couple came in and sat down. Shortly after, their breakfast was served so at this point (10am) we asked what was going on as the couple came in 45 minutes after us and had their breakfast served. “I’m sorry but they are the owners” when we asked the waitress, and as you can imagine, we were pretty frustrated. We watched another couple walk out because they had waited so long, so we asked again how long as we all had appointments and thought we would be out by 10am. In the end, two of our party left as they couldn’t wait and two of us stayed. We waited, and finally our breakfast arrived at 10:26, 1 hour and 26 minutes after we arrived. The breakfast wasn't great, and we both only ate half. What’s worse is that every time we asked, the poor waitress who looked rushed off her feet on her own tried to find out what was happening and was clearly flustered, the owners just sat there eating their breakfast, doing nothing. And looked over at our table. It was pretty shameful. They could absolutely see what what happening, but just carried on eating. I can understand things go wrong, but to own a restaurant and sit and watch as your staff are flustered, is appalling. So for this reason, I will never step foot in that place. And I feel sorry for the staff who were actually trying to do their very best. When we went to pay, in the end the staff said their would be no charge because it had been so bad, so I thank them for.

Great cocktails, the gentleman behind the bar didn't stint of the quality ingredients. Resulting in one of the best cocktail I've had in Darlington for years.

First things first... Poor customer service. Arrived at 19:30 for a table I had booked (several days ago)for 19:30, night started off well.. walked in to be met by a young lady who greeted myself with “can I help you?!”, as if I shouldn’t of been in there, or at least that’s the vibe I received? After explaining I had a table booked ect, the young lady said we hadn’t any tables, we was just left to wait around which made me feel really uncomfortable after ten minutes or so we was told to sit at the most rediculousy places tables and chairs , not even given a menu so had to go up and ask , got the menu and there was literally just “starters” panini sandwich or baguettes or whatever they were. Very minimal poor options and we were under the impression of dining here having a few drinks and seeing where the night takes us , after looking at the menu we got up and walked straight out the door( me and the mrs) and came across an Italian called Uno Momento. Fantastic place so head there this place is not couple friendly !!!

Absolutely terrible lunch and service today. Very quiet with not many customers and had to wait 50 mins for 2 salads. Twice asked how long we would have to wait before being told 5 mins then 10 mins later 30 seconds to then it finally...

Wow! I’d heard about Juniper Tree but not being local hadn’t tried it out. Luck chanced me and I got the opportunity to spend lunchtime here. What a delicious selection of food. I had a mildly spicy dish with rice and was just blown away...

Booked table for breakfast, after 45 min wait it was served cold, no toast unlike before when it was £12, and no offer of sauces, service very poor. Very dissapointing

Went for lunch for partner today, whilst there a lady wasn’t happy with her brownie and complained to the staff and manager. Once the customer left the staff including the manager was slagging off the lady off, not professional and not want I wanted to...

I decided to take my wife out for a Valentine's breakfast. We decided to go to Tomahawk but when we got there the staff couldn't be less accommodating so we left. So glad we chose here afterwards. The breakfast (2 for £14 including a drink) was absolutely fantastic. The food was cooked fresh. The ingredients were top quality anf the service was fantastic. Two new regulars to the Juniper Tree. I urge you to try it. If there was a downside it was the ventilation as it had that slight kitchen smell that can sometimes stick to your clothes. Nothing major though. Please try it if you haven't already.

On a very windy and wet day walking through Darlington looking for a dog friendly place to eat came across the juniper tree. We had a very warm welcome and ordered smoked salmon and salad sandwiches with a choice of chunky or slim chips, one coffee and a flavoured lemonade thefood arrived was absolutely excellent and enjoyed it and a nice long rest and left ready to do battle with the the wind and rain . We left the restaurant and caught the train to London

Very decent food, if a little rich. It's good to find tasty, satisfying lunch at the first attempt. Three mains and three drinks (or was it four?) for £29. Above all, the women serving were amazing. Super helpfu and reason alone to go back. Yes,...

We had a lovely fresh breakfast here today with friends, 2 full english (including coffee) for £14 cant go wrong for the quality and quantity of the food. Friendly staff, looking forward to returning to try the main menu.

We thought about eating there, but as we couldn't find the menu on their Google page we didn't bother. And they don't have a website mentioned. So the 3 stars is no reflection on their food, but lack of marketing. You sell food......let people know what you sell, so they may buy.....

It’s our favourite bar in Darlington, the drinks and food are always great!The new monthly quiz is a great night out, lasts for a good length of time and there is even free food halfway through! Best way to spend a Monday night!We come regularly, it’s always our first suggestion to visitors, and we’ll be back again very soon
