Bar staff are incompetent and the owner's father is ignorant and stole my drink. Will never set foot in the place again while they run it.

Seven of us went this evening and the food was lovely and can wait to visit again. The staff were very pleasant and a lot of work has been done on the premises to up improve it, well done.

Went with a friend for Sunday lunch and was very impressed food well cooked unlike most places who do Sunday lunch ( not a microwave technician in sight) all properly done and the portions are very generous.

I've visited this place for Sunday lunch so many times I've lost count. I live in Lincoln however a friend recommended this place a while ago so me and the missus ventured out one Sunday and our only regret is we didn't come across this place sooner! Every time we go here we have to pass several other establishments which we know sell a decent lunch but we take the 20 minute drive here instead knowing it will be worth it. The service by the girls who serve you at the table is amazing, always making sure everything is okay and you always have a drink. The food is fantastic, the landlord, Richard, who is very friendly and approachable when you see him out the kitchen occasionally clearly cares about the food he serves. Since our first visit we have returned with friends and family who have all said how amazed they were with this place. Great selections of beers, wines and spirits too. As I write this review I can see the only previous reviews on this place are either excellent or very good and that is testament to Richard and his team. My only warning if you do go here for food is you will start comparing everywhere else you go to this place and everywhere else will come up short, this place will ruin your opinion of your current favourite Sunday lunch. Often places sacrifice quality over quantity however this place has both exceptional quality and I challenge anyone to finish a whole meal. I've heard this place does theme nights such as murder mystery which includes food and I need to get involved in that just for the food! Do yourself a favour and give this place a try.

Fantastic small village pub. Went for a quiz, the hosts were very friendly and the nibbles lovely. Lots of character and the resident dog gives a warm welcome :)

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS - YES The landlord, Richard, is also the Chef. Bearing in mind that Horsington, Lincolnshire lies between nowhere and nowhere and is a line village - Main Street runs through the village with houses on either side - and that there is neither church nor shop for the 250+ residents, the continuing presence of a pub is nothing short of miraculous. Substantial gardens and a massive conservatory pool table room are available. The bar is tiny. Don't try swinging any proverbial cats. There is seating in an extension to the bar for around a dozen diners. A further smaller dining room provides extra space for two tables, which has a door to the kitchen and a rather pithy proverb painted on the wall (see photo). We were told the pub provides a 'mean’ fish and chips on Friday evenings. We were there for Sunday lunch. The verbal options were: Roast beef Roast pork A 'bit of both’ The roast beef came with yorkshire pudding on the plate. Side dishes of peas, carrots, cauliflower cheese and potatoes - roast and boiled were plonked onto the table. Horseradish sauce and gravy. Absolutely wonderful! There was barely room for a pudding. The dessert menu, in contrast to the verbal mains' menu, was written on a small portable blackboard and was also much more extensive. The offerings included such delights as ’sticky toffee pudding’ and 'bread and butter pudding’ both served drowned in scrumptious custard. Faced with going WITHOUT any of these gourmet delights for a further 20 years, we made room. Then we rolled out, went home and collapsed over the Sunday newspapers. Interestingly, The Elder Tree's kitchen is not a lot larger than a red public telephone box.

Have had drinks on many occasions in this very friendly country pub. Tried the Sunday lunch for the first time last Sunday and it was absolutely superb. Plenty of it, fresh vegetables and melt in the mouth beef or pork. Would highly recommend this pub.

Absolutely superb lunch. The vegetables were freshly cooked, the meat melted in your mouth and to top it all, home made cauliflower cheese. Will certainly be returning.

Fantastic Greek menu last night. It was difficult to make menu choice with so many dishes to choose from on the first of these monthly 2016 international food nights. Already looking forward to the Indonesian next month.

Stopped for a drink (stayed for 2), the locals were friendly, the landlord helpful and the beer well kept. Would have gone back to eat but ran out of time. Next time I am in the area I will return.

This must be the best value resturant in Lincolnshire. Unfortunately limited opening times but well worth going to. If you have a Sunday lunch there, dont have a breafast beforehand.

We went to the pub earlier in the week to have a drink and saw that they had Steak and Ale puddings on the menu which considering the hot weather was probably not the wisest choice for our meal out on Friday. But they were delicious., Plenty of gravy and no dry or hard crust; and with bread and butter pudding for dessert with a bucket load of custard my husband was happy man. The choice of draught beers was also excellent. They do themed nights once a month and across the weekend do regular meals - see the menu. So happy to have this pub near to us.

Been a few times but staff are very negative about booking (it is a pub with speciality food nights). Friday is fish and chip night, opens at 6.00pm and then when you arrive at 6.00pm to an empty pub you are told they are fully booked and there is no fish left ! Shame as it is a quaint sort of place but wont be going again

My sister booked this restaurant as she lives in Skegness when we arrived it was very busy which is always a good sign. The food portions were very large and very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It looks quite small but don’t be put off. Definitely give it a try.

Loads of people in the restaurant, but we got served in good time. We were waited on throughout the stay and staff were always available. We had a table of 8 and the food all came out together, nice and hot. Prices were good. each couple paid less than £50 for main meal and 2 or 3 drinks per couple. A good result.
